Shattering the Glass Cellar: Hillary Clinton is Spectacularly, Radioactively Unpopular Now

But she seems so nice!

Losing candidates fall in popularity, I'd guess, because their pre-election popularity was artificially and temporarily boosted by partisans "coming home" to support the candidate.

When a candidate loses the election, she loses all of that temporary, contingent support.

And if she loses an election most expected her to win, she also loses support from people who supported her even without the "coming home" bonus.

Republicans, I'd imagine, continue to dislike her at the same rates they always did. Even the NeverTrumpers feel freer about criticizing Hillary Clinton now, and they backed her, either openly or passive-aggressively.

But Democrats blame her, correctly, for being a terrible candidate. They should also blame themselves for having deluded themselves into thinking she was a good candidate, despite all available evidence.

Shrillary was always spectacularly unpopular. Even her so-called friends could never stand her guts. The only people who ever thought anything nice about Shrillary were people who had never met her and never heard anything she said.

BTW, the greatest piece of PR ever given to Shrillary was the portrayal of her in Primary Colors ... though I think she was throwing phones by the end of that one, too.

12 I remember years ago I used to criticize Ace for welcoming the Hillary dems who were against jug head. He said the Repubs needed to ease up on attacking her, since she was not really that bad in comparison.

Well, I am here to say I was wrong. Hillary is the best thing to ever happen to the Republican party, and the Right.

God bless her, and may she live, and fight for her cause (raw power), for another hundred years

40 The book on Hillary over a decade ago was that she was terrible at "retail politics" that is, running for office. That she's difficult to listen to, that she's not personable or likable.

Yet, they ran her, crushed any opposition even if they had to blatantly cheat to do so, and figured they could get a win out of her anyway, no matter how bad she was. That's how confident they were in the machine and the media support.

Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel at April 18, 2018 04:27 PM (H8S+R)

75 Her shortcomings as a candidate could be concealed in her Senate run, at least in New York, with the media gathered faithfully around her, but not in a Presidential campaign. The media failed to figure that out. It's amazing how many sacrificed their credibility for her sake. Like Elinor Clift.

I'm stunned she is only accepted and beloved by the same degenerates skin suit wearing demons she surrounds herself with in DC, NYC, San Fran, and Hollywood.

Obviously, she needs to run again in 2020 to prevent the eventual GITMO military tribunal coming so she can scream Hilter or something.

104 Whom ever the Dems run in 2020 it will be to set them up for 2024...at least in terms of name recognition and platform acceptance.
Watch the media get far more ugly in 2019 in an effort to split the support for Trump. But unless the Dems retake the house and senate this Fall, then they will write off 2020 and look to prep for 2024.
They will also begin to put a lot of $ into local races...you know...where the votes get counted.

In a sane world with a professional press corps rather than a DNC talking head media, that image of one blue shoe on the sidewalk would have been the image of the year, on the cover of magazines, and shown as the symbol of the presidential race for 2016 for all time. Like Truman holding up the newspaper announcing his loss, or Dukakis in a tank.

Instead it was so ignored the only reason we know about it is some dude with a cell phone.

Add on top of her tepid and unlikable lines a harpy voice and you have a sure loser. Trump for all his goofy lines and jumbled delivery was dynamic and exciting. And at his best, he's the best speechmaker we've had in high office since Reagan. He's that damn good when he's prepped and serious. Hillary was just awful, and sounded awful, and had bizarre seizure moments she couldn't even blame on the teleprompter.

201 Hillary was a terrible candidate who would have WON against anyone other than Donald J Trump.

It's long past time for people to start acknowledging that fact. Every single one of those GOP candidates who ran in 2016 expected Hillary to win the General except Trump. Not one of the others would have.campaigned as hard as he did. Not one of them would have thrown her attacks back on her and Bill.

Yes, Hillary was a terrible candidate who thought the Media would carry her across the finish line like it did for Obama in 2012 while the R opponent laid down instead of punching back, like Romney in 2012.
But Trump wasn't Romney-- he actually was a good candidate. Or at least the right one at the right time.

280 Honestly, once the greater part of America gets to know any of these Democrat candidates, they will hate them too.

Look at the Democrats who won special elections. They all positioned themselves as the polar opposite of what the Democrats platform represents. They also positioned themselves as the opposite of what Democrats in Congress have demonstrably voted for.

It's a party of frauds.

282 201 Hillary was a terrible candidate who would have WON against anyone other than Donald J Trump.

Posted by: Venus at April 18, 2018 04:45 PM (lZaEn)

I agree with this, Trump was willing to bring Bill Cliton's sexual assault victims to a Debate, would the others have done that, They would think it was beneath them.

I can't remember what it was, I think Buzzfeed that was SHOCKED SHOCKED when as reporters they were brought to see Trump and Clinton's accusers were with him. Trump brought the reporters one by one (Trump Filmed this separately) and the looks they gave the Women, it's a must watch if you have never seen it.

284 One NeverTrump talking point is Trump did not win it, but Hillary lost it. That is partially true, but you can say that about a lot of elections the last 20 plus years.

Where was NeverTrump wrong about the election outcome? They thought Trump talking about tariffs, restricting immigration, breaking up certain companies, etc. was bad. They did not realize Trump could actually win certain rust belt states with that message.

If the Democrats in 2020 nominate another elitist from the coast , who spends all day long talking about issues people in Manhattan and San Francisco care about about it will be another Trump victory.

Trump's campaign is how you defeat a coastal elitist type campaign. If Republicans learned to accept some of those issues Trump ran on in 2016 they would win even with candidates not named Trump.

However, right now the GOP still has too many free trade, open borders, big companies are always right, globalist hacks in the party. That message means you cannot win any rust belt states, but instead limits you to trying to win some combination of Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia, etc. That is actually harder to do.

It is easier to simply attack Dems as globalists who hate the U.S. and its workers. Sort of fair play as far as I am concerned. Yes it will tick off certain big GOP donors, but those people gave us 2008 and 2012.

So even if you think Trump is a bumbling idiot at times, it still does not change the fact he found a useful recipe for victory. Learn from it, instead of pretending it is all Clinton's doing.

Her health problem? Her health problem was probably mostly *Trump*. He put her under severe pressure from almost Day 1 and never took his foot off the gas. He had her arfing in one of his earliest commercials and blasted her for essentially participating in Bill's rapes.

On 9/12, the day after she collapsed, he was out making fun of her at a rally for "not being able to stand the heat". To raucous cheers. Why? Because they all insisted she was perfectly healthy. So they couldn't very well claim in the next breath he was making fun of an old lady who was frail and sick, could they. Think Little Marco would have done that? McCain? Cruz? It would have been "I hope my opponent gets better soon, let's all give a great big hand to my opponent". Then she would have got up off the ground and let her minions gut him from nose to tail.

I agree it is unlikely. My position on the story is that it is something interesting to file away for future consideration. Not enough there to do anything with and it does seem rather thick headed of pence to even consider it much less discuss it, but stupider stuff has happened.

364 Fear of Hillary's wrath was more effective inside the Dem party, so it would have been more genuine to try that approach with the election.

"Vote for me ... Or I'll Kill Your Dog" ... then one of those contemptible sneers Hillary can produce so naturally.

She basically did threaten the deplorables and irredeemables ... and Dems in general went with threats to cops, threats to white people that don't confess to privilege and racism. And selective prosecution by the IRS or other agencies. And of course they accuse NRA members of being murderers.

But when they caused violence at Trump rallies, they blamed Trump. They should have just given credit where credit was due. "Hillary beat up these MAGA people, and she will beat you too ... unless you Vote Hillary". A campaign with honesty.

Even better yet was the historically ignorant STRONGER TOGETHER slogan that was LITERALLY the definition of fascism.

423 the difference between cruz and Trump is the same as the captain of the debate team and the class clown. outside of the rules and decorum of debate the class clown is going to own the captain of the debate team every time.

zingers and one-liners were what was necessary to beat hillary.

424 "Here's why people are still talking about Hillary Clinton, despite her
losing in 2016. She's incredibly unpopular, and that makes her worth
keeping in conversation for Rs."

Well, yes and no.

If Hillary Clinton stopped talking about Hillary Clinton, everybody else would stop talking about Hillary Clinton.

425 haley was especially loathsome. going to the u.n. and talking tough does nothing to give her foreign policy cred.

Once I found out she was an open borders member, my heart sank. Will never be in that corner. She is doing the job she is being told to do, and I'm grateful for that.

426 Au contraire, William Eaton. Trump is dumb, or crazy, like a fox. And the leftmedia still does not get that.

I was pointing out a fact to those who do think he is a bumbling idiot. I was one his early supporters and thought he had a good chance to win with what he was running on. So obviously I do not think he is a bumbling idiot.

However, you don't need to be Trump to win on the same message either. The problem is we have too many Republicans who refuse to run on it. Instead they must get talking point memos from Big Donors Are Us.

The memos read - Trade is always wonderful, we need more workers, we must open up Iran with trade, Zuck is really a good guy with a heart of gold, etc...you get the point.

427 Say what you want, but Hillary Clinton is the only woman in the world who could join a high-profile witches' coven--a real witches' coven--and get good press for it. No, really, don't look at me that way. I'm serious. Hillary Clinton is an actual member of an actual witches' coven in Manhattan called 'The Wing', described as "a network of co-working and community spaces designed for women."

...who happen to be witches. When criticized for being virulently anti-male even by feminist standards, one of The Wing's member's is quoted as saying, "We're a coven, not a sorority."

She's a witch. Hillary Clinton is a witch. As if any of us had doubts on that score.

428 I think Cruz could have won, but I don't think he'd have been very effective. Like Trump he would have had both parties against him, but unlike Trump I don't think he's as good a fighter and he lacks the ability to connect with regular folks.

429 When celebrities want to get some good press, they usually leak a sex tape. Maybe Hillary could try that.

I liked Cruz, but Jules didn't. It's shallow, but she may be right...said he couldn't get elected because of his looks. Reminded her of Joe McCarthy, just a nasty look. Which has nothing to do with policy but see Nixon vs. Kennedy.

431 Let me get this straight:

Hillary Clinton wrote a book, and that book is part of a Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.
