"Asos has come under fire for stocking 'dangerous and irresponsible' size 2 clothing with a 22-inch waist -- the same as a six-year-old child," the Mirror reports. The company defends selling these items, saying it's catering to more petite women. Asos also says that "cultural, physical and individual differences are to be celebrated." The Mirror notes that Asos, of course, has a point: "While the average woman in the UK is a size 16 with a 34in waist, if a 5ft woman has a 22in waist they would be considered as having a healthy slim BMI." In other words, a size 2 woman is not necessarily unhealthy. However, we now live in a world where you can blast away at people who aren't fat. Liberal Democrat MP Norman Lamb told The Daily Mail: "It runs the risk of normalising sizes which are extreme for adults. It sends out a very dangerous signal to teenagers and young women.'"If the dresses themselves are a "dangerous signal" about excessive non-fatness, what of the women with such dangerous body shapes themselves? If their clothing is to be outlawed -- isn't it even more imperative to outlaw the slim bodies themselves? Strange -- I'm beginning to suspect the Tolerance Mobs are kinda intolerant, when you get right down to it. Also Stupid Update: God Save Us from #Woke5YearOlds. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Actually, this is one of my pet peeves. Whenever clothing stores/companies say they cater to "all sizes", that just means fat people. I seriously want to start a company for, if you will, "minus sizes". It's a seriously underserved market, as I can attest from personal experience.

Not necessarily for police (but it might come to that some day) but for now a place where snowflakes would feel emotionally and maybe even physically unsafe. I know that seems harsh, but it's the only alternative to a national divorce I cab foresee. Until the left burns itself out in rioting and cultural horror.

Jay, thanks - the buzz was that the vote would go that way.
Haven't kept score, so dunno how many CA counties have joined the lawsuit. And haven't bothered even to check the learned commentary on the lawsuit substance. But I do have concerns. Lawless jurisdictions may be able to skate the not-so-thin line between violating pre-emptive federal authority, and sheltering behind settled law against federal "commandeering" of local LE. I'm assuming the federal court decision over-turning AZ's law a few years back was a lawless, stupid misapplication of the federal pre-emption principle (state authorities helping/coordinating does not obviously "pre-empt" anything). I fear a *legit* decision could go against DOJ on this one. It's fascinating in a dark way. The most basic common sense position (rule of law on immigration), which is over-whelmingly popular as well, simply *cannot* be implemented. Posted by: rhomboid at April 17, 2018 06:44 PM (QDnY+) 160

I actually like a woman with curves. The 12 year old body with the duck-lips isn't my thing. But they need clothes too. I will say that the models of the 40-s to the early 70's would be considered fat or at least chubby by today's standards. Give me a woman like that, Jane Mansfield or Marilyn over some waif any day. Ya know, it is no secret that the clothing industry has been adjusting its sizing since women started getting fatter. The clothes measurements stayed the same, but they would mark a Large as Medium, and a Medium as Small. So that is where this XXS sizing came from.
It's psychological. People won't buy a Size Large, but they will a Size Medium. It's all a mind game. And arbitrary between brands. I may take a Small in one Brand, but a Large in another. It is crazy. Posted by: prof disarray, gumdrop gorilla channel at April 17, 2018 06:58 PM (XVgpK) 257

As with most other sports, I think much the emhugening of players is fairly recent.
Met Ron Yary once, asked him about his size, he said he'd be scared to even be a line-backer now. And was at a thing with a bunch of former Charger greats (and the a**hole, Spanos) a few years ago. None of the former players (90s, mostly, I think) were huge. Many older NHLers, all of them normal size. From 'regular' food. Two weeks in and he's flipping out. Haven't hit the end yet but my guess is he bails before the 60 days he said he was going to test the premise. Posted by: Forgot My Nic at April 17, 2018 07:08 PM (LOgQ4) Wait, this can't be right. This guy, I mean. Last time I read about sugar limits, the US had changed to 25 grams max, per day. Let me tell ya, when a large Apple has 25 grams, that is pretty darn hard to do. But the Aussies has something like 25 grams natural (fruit) and 25 grams added sugars (cookies, cakes,et .) But I think it may even had been a tad higher. It is way more doable. Why our stupid country makes it a near impossible number does nothing helpful. But 40 teaspoons of sugar does not seem in line with what I've read. At all. Posted by: prof disarray, gumdrop gorilla channel at April 17, 2018 07:15 PM (XVgpK) 339

The average MLB player (IIRC) is about 6'1", 200 lbs. Good sized boy, but not enormous, and some of them (Altuve, and before him Eckstein) are little guys. When you have to run the bases and move in the field, it's a disadvantage to be TOO big. That's why the fad is to have only the pitchers to be really tall. It's one of the things I like about baseball: it selects for more or less normal-sized guys. The average MLB player (IIRC) is about 6'1", 200 lbs. Good sized boy, but not enormous, and some of them (Altuve, and before him Eckstein) are little guys.
Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at April 17, 2018 07:23 PM (4o+ea) Bartolo Colon, all 5-11 and 300 lbs of him at 44 years old, went into a perfect game in the 8th inning of Sunday night's game Baseball does have body preferences though according to positions. Catchers over 6-2 usually can't move well behind the plate. First baseman are preferred to be tall as well as right handed pitchers. First and Third basemen tend to be taller and larger because they're traditionally "power hitter" positions. Right handed pitchers under 6 ft are rare, at least starters. LH pitchers get more leeway, probably because 80 percent of humanity is right handed and you don't get picky about height. Posted by: kbdabear at April 17, 2018 07:30 PM (eh0Va) 423

Baseball does have body preferences though according to positions.
Sure, shortstops are usually little guys, but its not universal. If you're good at your position it doesn't matter what you look like. Piazza was a big guy and he was great at catcher. And like you said, Colon. There have been some really great chubby pitchers in the past. And some really great tall skinny ones like Randy Johnson. I love how baseball works, for now. Its about your ability, and that's pretty much it. If you can do the job, they really don't care what you look like. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at April 17, 2018 07:34 PM (39g3+) 446

Re CA GOP, yes there is great variation by location, of course. Point is that in populous and not completely moonbat areas, where it should have a chance, the party generally offers nothing distinctive or attractive to those who through intelligence or mindset/predilection might be reachable.
Posted by: rhomboid at April 17, 2018 07:20 PM (QDnY+) The coast is the most populated part of the state, and it is overwhelmingly leftist and very unlikely to change in the next few decades. It's not just CA, across the whole country big cities are voting 75%+ Dem. Populous and moonbat go hand in hand these days. The interior of the state is closer to an even split, but demographics have been changing a lot (no those immigrants aren't natural republicans), and the rich leftists on the coast have been dumping obscene amounts of money on any candidate they can because their local districts are solid (D) and are uncompetitive. The mountains/foothills are sparsely populated and are fairly safe (R) seats for the time being, but there are only a couple of them, because they are sparsely populated. If you're white, you're a racist. Nothing you can do about that. Just make sure to give all your money to a person of color and go home and feel bad about yourself. If you're black, you're a victim.
