Posted by: Bicentennialguy at April 19, 2018 09:30 AM (zcSYk) 38
OK, here's where I call bullshit. The waterfalls are spectacular, but where do they come from? If they're going to keep falling from roughly lake level, or whatever we call how full the cup is, then they must be replenished.
There's obviously no room for a natural spring above them, so it has to be pumped up through the stem of the glass. And then you'd need some awfully sophisticated valve technology for Titan to pick it up and take a drink and pick the sailing ships out of his teeth and put it back down again and have the waterfalls still work. I do not believe that that sort of valve technology existed back then. Posted by: Bandersnatch at April 19, 2018 09:30 AM (fuK7c) 39

Well, Jack has posited that the boats get scooped up when Titan scoops up a gobletfull from the lake. I'll accept that. Then the question is whether the waterfalls are permanent. If they're constant then you need a source of water from below, which means massive pumps and some sort of advanced valve technology that allows the goblet to reconnect with the source the minute that Titan sets it down. It is perhaps a simpler explanation that this polaroid was taken the minute that Titan set the glass down and the waterfalls are ephemeral.
I always enjoy Cole's paintings and the Hudson School generally. The vistas alone make the scenes dramatic while the color choices and use of light enhance the scope of the image. Cole used some mythological allusions in a few of his works but this 'goblet' seems like modern whimsy. It would make a great fantasy book cover. It would be interesting to see this painting in person.

So there are no winds on this thing that rears 2,000 feet up from sea level at the coast....And the people are so stupid they build a city in the SHADOW of the damn thing in an inlet just perfect for having the crap pounded out of it in a storm....

" any kind of criticism of Camera Hogg and the other
kiddies is terrible because they are the brave new voices of their generation. I can't even. Posted by: Jane D'oh yeah, that is absurd. But imo a good approach to counter them may be to agree the young Hogg is brave and idealistic, (as most of us were till we spent time in the real world) ... but that youthful exuberance is easily misguided, and that the far left has used and abused these children. Ingraham survived the attacks on her, but if she had attacked the leftists that push socialism/communism, but praised the 'activist' side of Hogg, she may have gotten better mileage. To call him whiny is "punching down", and down to a stupid kid no less. Same with many of the useful idiots, just always scorn them as tools of the evil manipulators and anti-American globalists. To argue directly with the insane is to fight the smokescreen. The target needs to be the ones refusing to yield to popular opinion ... close the border, tough on trade cheats (which is all of the other countries), push gun rights for protection, etc. We need to be the parent, those like Whoopi or Behar are the ignorant tools, it is "beneath us adults" to argue with their raw hate.
Posted by: Bandersnatch at April 19, 2018 09:30 AM (fuK7c) "A wizard did it." You can't handle the tooth! Son, we live in a world that has cavities, and those cavities have to be treated by men with drills. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Charlie Brown's Dildo? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Buzzion and you curse us Dentines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that Buzzion's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the tooth, because deep down in places you don't talk about on the ONT, you want me cleaning those teeth. You need me cleaning those teeth. We use words like "extraction", "novocaine", "root canal". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defeating periodontitis. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and smiles under the blanket of the very services that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide them! I would rather you just said "thank you", and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up some dental floss, and floss a mouth. Don't buy Hoggoblin's book right away, even for such a worthy purpose as bullet penetration tests. It will be remaindered in two minutes. Save the bucks for ammo. (Although I really like the idea of his book becoming the new standard for bullet penetration testing. Let's see, a 22lr gets five hoggs, a 45acp gets seventeen hoggs, etc. This could inspire reams of new cartridge data.)

interesting interview with Michael Savage talking to his lawyer, who also happened to represent a former president of Ukraine, and had some interesting thoughts. One being on Sessions letting this attack on Trump's lawyer happen ... that Trump may need to purge these guys, that Obama changed who would fill the position if senate refused to approve someone new (Obama had changed it to a DC person, Trump back in 2017 changed it back to the Virginia ??? ... someone he appointed.
Sessions may be letting the Grassley work continue, and we have Huber at work ... but the RINOs (and it seems Sessions as well) want to replace Trump with Pence (a good globalist party man at heart). Public opinion is the last thing stopping them (DeepState/Establishment) from overruling the election. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRFkktU8lWo Posted by: illiniwek at April 19, 2018 10:33 AM (bT8Z4) 384

Why is all this plastic junk ending up in the ocean? Do countries ship their trash out to sea and dump it? Do cruise lines have some kind of contest to throw plastic straws and q-tips overboard? Or is this the euro greens version of Parkland, hysteria over an isolated incident that could easily be prevented? Posted by: Jen the original at April 19, 2018 10:53 AM (m0lmR) I think all the plastic goes down a chain from consumer to garbage company to landfill to third world country to river and down to the sea or something. had cataract surgery. Keep us apprised. I suspect there's folks here who gonna be dealing with that. Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at April 19, 2018 10:49 AM (Zdm89) Yes. On Tuesday. Big reveal was yesterday. Eye seems to be fine. I can see to drive, and also can read the PC screen with it, not using glasses. Have my reading glasses on for the other eye, and they actually make the vision from my right eye (the one done) blurry. I am going to buy a couple of pairs of dollar store readers, and make a pair with a strong lens on the left side, and a weak one on the right. With my regular contact lens in the left side, I can see fine to drive. Go in for the left side surgery in June. Procedure took about 15 minutes, done under local anaesthetic. Not painful.
