The Atlantic Fires Kevin Williamson

Social Justice Warriors have been trying to get Kevin Williamson fired from his just-started job at the meaningless dribble publication The Atlantic -- a magazine much admired by the cucks -- because he has previously tweeted that women who get abortions should maybe be hanged.

The Atlantic just fired him. They said they'd found a podcast appearance where Williamson repeated that tweet, and that they now believed this wasn't just a provocative joke but his "carefully considered" opinion.

It seems it was just yesterday that The Weekly Standard, which you should totally obey because they're smart guys who really "get" the current political environment, were blowing air-kisses to the liberal print media and claiming charges that it was without integrity were "deeply unserious."

What will they say now? If they now denounce the leftist print media as totalitarian, that would establish two things:

1, They're wrong about everything all the time.

Which we already knew. Worse, it would establish:

2, They don't care about the left's totalitarian attacks on speech and belief until it gets someone in their own class.

I despise these cucks for this reason: Many of these people scoff at the notion that the leftwing is out for scalps. They are out to get people fired. They are out to ruin lives. They stand for the proposition that You shall repeat our cult dogmas or we will work as hard as possible to deny you the ability to even earn a living plying your trade in Current Year America.

Yet these cucks continue to engage in apologism for the left, claiming that only "paranoids" believe this about their Very Good Leftist Cocktail Party Friends.

They themselves are immune from the Recite Our Dogmas or Lose Your Job threat, because they are actually paid to write (nominally) conservative twaddle by (nominally) conservative magazines funded by (nominally) conservative billionaires.

As they themselves have most of their speech rights -- and cannot be fired from their jobs unless they say something truly outrageous, like the Russian Collusion thing seems to be a Deep State Hoax (just ask former TWS writer Lee Smith about that heresy) -- they seem to believe that everyday Americans similarly enjoy most of their speech rights.

Or maybe they just don't care that everyday Americans do not have much by way of speech rights at all.

Apparently the idea is similar to the claim that only professional comedians have the right to tell edgy jokes without being fired-- unless you work for a (nominally) conservative publication, you really shouldn't have the right to the full panoply of speech rights, and your corporate boss is quite justified in firing you if a Social Justice Mob demands it.

This is most of the reason people voted for Trump: everyday Americans who are not insulated from toxic Social Justice Warrior mobbing by virtue of the fact of working for a (nominally) conservative magazine are sick and tired of being bullied and want someone to finally start pushing back.

But the cucks laugh at that rationale. Why, it's silly to think you're being bullied, Hobbits.

But now Kevin Williamson, who was blazing a trail that many of the cucks hoped to follow by decamping to a truly educated, sophisticated place like The Atlantic (not quite educated and sophisticated enough to know that French words end in -isme not ism, but at least more educated and sophisticated than the outlets serving the TrumpenProletariat) is the victim of Social Justice Warrior mobs demanding bloody scalps for speech they don't like, and now the cucks are suddenly bothered by this form of sociocorporate totalitarianism.

Know what would improve our national discourse? A culture that ghettos conservatives and liberals, and in which expressing divergent and provocative ideas can cost you your livelihood if the social media mob is persistent enough.

I'm afraid I don't see a huge problem with the 393 quote. Biggest in my opinion is that both parties are really for free trade, even though each will admit it or not depending on audience. For the rest of the quote I would consider Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. as dynamic business concerns and firmly in the D column. Likewise for cultural institutions; Hollywood, Broadway, and any museum you care to think of as also in the D column.

What was odd about that whole incident is pro-lifers than freaked out on Trump for saying it.

I think politically was stupid, but it's like nobody every really thought about abortion actually being illegal, it was always just virtue signaling.

If abortion was outlawed, yes, you would have to punish women for getting an abortion.

Trump then said he didn't want to change any of the abortion laws once he got all the pushback. He saw he couldn't make a deal with these people, so he just cut bait, at least rhetorically. The pro-life crowd was saying he was a monster and so were the pro-abortionists.

334 Ace is right of course but in what universe is a liberal magazine supposed to employ conservative writers? This isn't like firing the head of Mozilla for his gay marriage position, this is a liberal magazine, so it's not clear what principle is at stake.

The bigger issue is that the standard conservative career arc is to graduate from the minor league conservative pubs and then get a job in the major leagues (WaPo, NYT, ABC, CNN, etc). That really skews the incentives to the point where all big conservative writers punch right and support the editorial policy of the Atlantic and WaPo on the truly critical issue that unites left and right (more war in the middle east).
