Not So Stormy Waters: CNN Poll Has Trump Jumping to Highest Approval Rating in 11 Months

It's only 42%, but it's better than CNN has found for the president they hate in nearly a year.

President Donald Trump's approval rating has rebounded to its highest level since the 100-day mark of his presidency, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, even as his approval ratings for handling major issues remain largely negative.

Overall, 42% approve of the way Trump is handling the presidency, 54% disapprove. Approval is up 7 points overall since February, including 6-point increases among Republicans (from 80% to 86% now) and independents (from 35% to 41% now).

BTW, CNN is a joke.

(Russian collusion, crazy, stupid, incompetent, plunge the US into a depression, reckless, dictator, destroyer of the environment, whatever - all to be shown as hysterics and hypocrisy.) And Trump gets a free pass regardless of his affairs/sexual behavior since Bill Clinton was/is the King of Sleaze (e.g. intern BJ's in the Oval Office) - and Democrats said that it had nothing to do with being a good President - sexual behavior was a private matter. I remind myself every day that Hillary is NOT the President and it always makes me feel better.

"Even by our biased methods, his popularity is rising. Here are the poll numbers!"
"I'll need more outrage! Production, this is the captain! Increase the flow of outrage to the studios!"
"Captain! The cameras can't take much more, they're already a-quivering from the vitriol passin' through! Much more and they'll melt down!"
"I said give me more! Increase the bile, this is an emergency!"

73 I work in a lobby that has CNN on the tv all day. And let me tell you, there obsessive bashing of Trump should be classified as psychological insanity.

CNN spends literally 98% of their time bashing Trump. No exaggeration here. Turn on CNN at any time of day, and you are almost guaranteed to see Trump bashing. Not anything else. It's just 24/7, nonstop Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. All day. All the time.

And the headlines are so awful that you have to wonder if they are trying to appear like propagandists. Yesterday, for example, CNN spent about 10-15 minutes each hour reporting the 'breaking news' that Trump returned to the WH 'alone' without Melania (there is nothing unusual about this btw, CNN just wants to spur speculation like a bunch of gossiping teens).

I just can't imagine the level of hate you need to have in order to be obsessed and consumed with someone like that.

I honestly don't get it: Why do DC pundits seem so convinced Trump is a secret authoritarian. Name even one policy action that supports this kind of strange fear.

Obama, yes I could see the fascist label applying to him pretty easily, with his "OFA" and his suggestion that young people be drafted/forced to participate in it, and his "turn in your parents and relations" phone lines, his executive appropriations to support the quasi-government owned insurance industry, and his support of other favored industries (like solar and certain internet firms, like Google and Facebook, that helped him get elected).

Obama is pretty clearly at minimum a fascist. But Trump? What's he done?

As I understand it (and this is really stretching the bounds of my knowledge), industry pay is $500-$1000 per film.

Which sounds like kind of a lot, but... even if you were an intrepid saver, still isn't enough to retire on at a young age.

Besides the coke, there are other expenses that pron stars have to do.

1. Fake tits. Natural sized and shaped tits don't work in pron
2. Facial plastic surgery. Gotta have the BJ lips.
3. Anal bleaching. We all call it the brown starfish, but pron consumers don't actually want to see a brown butthole.

As for their income, I think most make their money doing appearances at strip clubs and other "adult themed" places.

IIRC, Jenna Jameson made her fortune by being a producer on her films. That's where the big money is.

Or so I have been told about these things.

Ike warned us to beware the Military Industrial Complex.

The fact is, industry, like all other aspects of the economic system, is capable of being corrupted by unscrupulous practitioners. It's probably best to see it as a neutral word, a neutral concept, lest one start developing a false bias toward specific industrial entities, like... say, General Motors.

Some businesses should die, because they are poorly run. Once we try to apply morality to the discussion,we're bound to get it wrong. At least some of the time.

302 On this omnibus spending, I did some research. Since 1977, congress has been able to do its job and pass spending bills as they are required to do so four times. 1977, 1989, 1995, and 1997. In all other years since 1978, they used omnibus packages or didn't bother to have a budget at all. I think every incumbent member of congress ought to proudly run on the fact that none of them have ever fulfilled the basic job function they were elected to perform.

This.

I have no idea why so many on this board are believing a whore that screws men and women on camera for money, faking all the squeals and groans, that she had a one night stand with a 60 year old billionaire who vehemently denies it.

Whose story has changed over the past six months from "it never happened" to oh, yes it happened, please let me add a chapter to my book once she started having Rahm Emmanuel and Joe Biden's atty. represent her despite having no evidence of the kind of finances a $500 hr. lawyer would need.

Whose details of the supposed sexual encounter are not even credible. As I read yesterday, she supposed said in the 60 minutes interview that she gave while high on some kind of substance, that Trump wanted her to watch 3 hours of Shark Tank as part of their foreplay. Her supposed sex act with Trump took place in 2005.

Shark Tank didn't even debut on television until 2009.

If not, I think it might be worth noting, among those 10 Suggestions, in addition to not committing adultery, is the one about bearing false witness.

Posted by: BurtTC at March 27, 2018 01:31 PM (9chmE)

This is absolutely true. My issue is as much with the media whoring this to everyone in sight as it is with the possibility that it could have happened.

The media, by which I mean CNN et al, is thrilled to push this as some sort of horrible occurrence, all the while granting sainthood on someone who is paid to have sex in public, i.e, a whore. What sort of twisted, post-Christian nonsense states that the one who offered her poot for money is somehow a horrible victim and now worthy of veneration, all the while decrying the fellow who may or may not have paid for said poot as some sort of victimizer, and now to have her say that the sex was consentual, etc.

It is none of my business, but it is shoved in my face as a fait accompli.

I don't need a saint for president, but it would be nice if the media didn't think that every aspect of everyone's sex life is fodder for the morning report, and it would be equally as nice if they would at least check to see if what they are reporting is true, or at least confirmed somehow.

But hey, who cares about the coarsening of society, about the abandonment of morals, about the dismembering of the concept of shame and upright behavior, and treating people as people rather than a titillating headline?

368 Pretty sure the Constitution does not award Congressional Districts on the number of illegals in an area, rather number of citizens (native born and legal immigrant). This is how CA, IL, NJ and NY are able to swing their largesse to illegals, they make the dumbasses in the other 46 states subsidize them. CA didn't become the largest Welfare State (33% of all US Welfare per year) on their own dime.

369 No freaking way I'd want an Article 5 Convention with all the crazies out there now!

Exactly, I don't understand why people keep clinging to that as some panacea. It relies on the same lunatic chumps and losers who are making the mess to begin with to fix it. The Oregon State Legislature is voting on banning "assault weapons" and seizing them, another in a long line of extremist lefty wet dreams in the state that's rammed through and were signed by the radical lesbian governor.

You don't pay 150k for a non disclosure agreement if you didn't do it.

Posted by: Sebastian Melmoth at March 27, 2018 01:33 PM (r7qNw)

I'm
not sure that's true. I don't pay non-disclosure agreements though, so I
would think somebody who knows about such things is aware that there
are times when you ask a whore to keep her whore mouth shut, not because
you did anything, but because you don't want to deal with the whore.

Same
thing with doctors who pay out malpractice claims, without ever
admitting to wrongdoing. It sometimes pays to just make it go away.

Posted by: BurtTC at March 27, 2018 01:40 PM (9chmE)

Lawyers are expensive, being sued is very expensive.

Most doctors settle the malpractice lawsuits because their insurance company looks at what it will cost them in legal fees to defend the case, and then what the chances are that a jury will rule in favor of the plaintiff.

Not that the doctor actually did something wrong, but a jury looking at a young husband and wife that just lost their child, and dammit somebody needs to pay, and we all know that doctors are nothing but a bunch of fatcats and don't need all that money.

15 years ago I was sued by an ex-employee for $150K. We decided to fight it, our legal fees were $35K. It never even went to court, but 5 years after filing the lawsuit, we settled for $5K. Why? That $35K was only going to get bigger and bigger, and the attorney that filed the case left the firm and the senior partner of that firm wanted it off their books.

374 I believe I got the Shark Tank thing from here, which having been here long enough, I know is at my own peril.

Whatever.

Shark Week has been around since 1988.

I've retired as a health care professional and have friends in the beauty salon industry and we both have seen our share of "exotic dancers". They were without exception completely and fully mentally, emotionally warped and damaged , even if physically they weren't full of herpes, afflicted with AIDS, Hepatitis B, and other assorted nasty's, not to mention drug and alcohol addictions. Trying to get an accurate health history out of them was impossible.

I think CNN's angle with this is not just to make Trump look like some kind of serial philander to the first lady, but to also cast him as another abuser to this poor woman who had no choice but to enter the life of a porn star. The vast majority of women look at Stormy Daniels and think, barf, who could do what she does. Then try to rationalize it was out of control, she was a victim. When in reality, she chose that life , could have left it at any time, and didn't. But CNN and the left, including Daniels lawyer, is using this rationalization to further demonize Trump.

Notice how they didn't feel the least bit sorry for Monica Lewinsky. Instead, they tried to cast HER as the aggressor and villain in the case of Bill Clinton. because it suited their purpose.

You do realize that the entire state population votes on amendments proposed through an Art. V convention? Not just a legislature.

378 I find it funny that people who yell for an Article 5 Convention don't
understand how fast that thing will spin out of control, much like how
the Articles of Confederation were discarded (un-Articlesly?) to enact
the Constitution. We would definitely end up with something entirely
different that what we have now.
========================

I believe Mark Levin answered this objection. He said: The States calling for the Convention have to specify in writing exactly what specific topics are going to be addressed, in advance of the Convention. No other topics are permitted. Then, as a further safeguard, each amendment written at the Convention has to be voted on either by the State legislature or a state convention. Amendments that don't get the requisite number of endorsements by state affirmation vote do not pass.

So this concern doesn't seem warranted.

You don't understand the world of corporate or wealthy individuals. Your average rock star has a cadre of lawyers, many of whom are there to deal with the hundreds of lawsuits filed against their client every year.

Let's take Sarah Palin as a good example.
Palin, after her failed VP run, went back to Alaska to resume her governorship. In order to make sure she never tried to run for public office again, the organized left began filing lawsuit after lawsuit against her office. She had 18 ethics complaints filed against her which cost the state of Alaska $2M in money and state workers office time to respond and defend, which resulted in all 18 being dismissed. But they kept coming and she finally decided to leave office rather than have the state continue to pay to defend the lawsuits.

Whether your guilty or innocent is not the question. It's whether you can afford to defend yourself.

George Zimmerman's defense cost well over $1M dollars. He was able to hire the lawyers he had and forensic evidence specialists due to donations and pro bono work done by the 2nd amendment attorneys and org. who helped pay for his defense.

Paying off a nuisance claim like this, as the WH spokesperson said yesterday, happens all the time. Unfortunately, it's why lawsuits get filed, because if you can find a lawyer willing to work pro bono or on a settlement basis only, there's no downside.

380 Interesting that charts shows upstate NY loosing population at an alarming rate and NYC and suburbs having record growth. A lot of that is immigrants moving into NYC I'd bet. Cuomo also suing the US government about asking citizenship on census form. No surprise there. And don't forget Cuomo wants to be US President in 2021.

It's bad in a good way. Finn doesn't act like Finn, Eastwood looks like his dad but is very wooden. Robots v Robots, Robots v. Monsters. Take it as that but without Stacker Pentecost.

IOW dumb fun.

I'll second the dumb fun. I enjoyed it more than the first. For me, there were a couple of laugh-out-loud moments, such as when we met Alice. No one else in the theater was laughing, though, so take that for what it's worth.

Woulda been awesomer in 3D, but my stupid local theater doesn't always believe that movies should have as many Ds as possible.
