Omar Mateen's Father Was an FBI Source; Noor Mateen's Defense Team Was Not Told This Until After the Prosecution Had Rested

Which means she didn't get to cross-examine the prosecution's witnesses with this information. Her claim -- probably a lie, but who knows these days -- is that Omar Mateen's father, Seddique Mateen, was actually the Pulse nightclub shooter's co-conspirator. She would use this claim to buttress a new defense, that she herself was Just a Girl Standing In Front of Boy Saying She Likes Him (and Would Be Interested in Helping Him Buy Guns and Stuff).

This is kind of a mess, and could very well result in a mistrial.

I can kind of understand why no one would want to disclose the identity of a confidential informant. And I'm not sure why the prosecution would necessarily have to disclose this. Prosecutors have to disclose all exculpatory information, but how is the fact that Omar Mateen's father being an FBI informant exculpatory? Sure, Noor Mateen and her lawyers can retroactively construct some kind of conspiracy theory in which the FBI is trying to cover up the Real Co-Conspirator, but... a claim is not evidence.

Possibly evidentiary: The fact that Seddique Mateen, Omar's dad, is under investigation for sending sums of money to Turkey and Pakistan.

However, as Ed Morrissey notes, Seddique Mateen had already been reported by the media to be an online agitator for jihadists. Noor Mateen's defense team must have known that much -- so why didn't they already have this theory that Seddique was Omar's partner-in-crime and explore that at trial? Why was it only when they learned that he was an FBI source that this angle became interesting to them?

In addition, Seddique Mateen's FBI handler had met with Omar Mateen and was considering developing him as a source too.

It's a bit weird that the FBI had an informant whose son turned out to be a terrorist, and thought about recruiting a guy who turned terrorist too, but... you know, if you're looking to get information on the drug trade, you're going to recruit informants who are junkies and dealers. If you're trying to get information about terrorists, you're going to recruit CI's who move in the world of radical jihadism.

The judge has delayed ruling on whether a mistrial should be declared until after the testimony of Omar Mateen's handler.

I'm not sure if I can say the FBI acted wrongly here, but, as usual with the FBI, it's at least all a mess.

16 Ace, my understanding is that the prosecution listed the elder Mateen as a witness, even though they never actually called him. They were supposed to apprise the defense of any relationship between the prosecutors and the witnesses, and (obviously) neglected to do so.

Whether this means the FBI knows more about this shooting than we've heard, who knows.

35 I have no great sympathy for the defendant, but it is one of the most basic rules of conducting a fair trial, that the defense has GOT to be told about any information that the Prosecution has developed which could aid in the Defendants defense. Or to put it more plainly, we do not allow Prosecutors to use State resources to find out information and then hide that information from the defendant in order to make it easier to get a conviction. That is one of the hallmarks of a totally corrupt court - and whether she is innocent or guilty, this Judge should declare a mistrial and start the whole thing over with a new jury.

It is the Prosecution's Corruption that has ruined this case, not anything that the defendant has done.

I think we have an agency or two today that's "independent" like that. If FBI operates directly under presidential authority, which is also not in their, um, charter, well the future first ladies are going to have a lot of tax accounting to do when they're not baking cookies, IYGWIM.

biggest terrorist attacks on US soil carried out by former assets of
CIA. What are the odds of that? Got to be close to 1/millions.

I agree, and it's because when the Prosecution deliberately tries to hide evidence, that is an open show of Bad Faith by the Prosecution. And a lack of trust in the integrity of the Prosecution is cause for reasonable doubt as to guilt.

Make sure and distinguish between a foreign Jihadi and a US citizen.

The reason this case, and the manner in which it is handled, is so important is because she is a US citizen, and anything that they can do to her, they can do to you. And they will.

As was said in the play, I would give the Devil himself Benefit of the Law, because I do that to protect my own self WITH the law.

WTFF?

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/17/us/ david-hogg-profile-florida-shooting/index.html

David Hogg found himself living a nightmare on Wednesday, hiding in a closet with classmates as a crazed gunman roamed the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, unleashing a torrent of bullets on students and teachers.

Huddled in the dark, trying to keep quiet to avoid the gunman, students called their parents to tell them in hushed voices that they loved them.

"That's kind of around the same time that I just had to pull out my phone," Hogg, a 17-year-old student journalist, told CNN in a phone interview Friday.

"It was sheer terror," Hogg said of that moment, but he quickly recognized it as one that needed documenting -- if not for him to report, then for survivors and lawmakers to understand how desperately the country needs to implement reforms to prevent yet another mass shooting.

The FBI crime lab falsified results and cases were thrown out. You've seen Mueller's ineptitude with the anthrax case of the Bush Years and now the FBI being a tool for the Obama regime to spy on Americans. Cambridge PD gets a call from a neighbor that saw someone breaking-in to the house. It's a fun wish fulfillment fantasy, but rapists know how to lock doors and do their deeds in very secluded places. (especially Child rapists) Probably not one in a thousand rapes involves someone being caught in the act.

And if you DID catch someone in the act, in most places you would have a very good chance of getting off if you shot the rapist, even under current law. There was a case in Texas a few years back, where a man saw a women being murdered by her ex in a mall entrance. He ran back to his car to get his .44 magnum, as the perp drove by he put 3 shots through the car door - guy died a couple miles away. Locals tried to bring charges, but the grand jury refused to indict.

361 Back in the day I finally went all "Ralphie" from Christmas Story on my bully. I went to Catholic school and usually it was a big hammer that came down if you got caught fighting. One day I had enough and I beat the ever loving shit out of him. One of the nuns on playground duty let me finish the job. Then on the way to go see the principal (another nun) she told me that he had it coming and would see what she could do. The Principal had to punish me, I think I had a 3 days of detention or something. But they knew the kid was a little shit. My parents were called and they knew too. Normally I'd get a whack from all parties interested. My Dad was usually pretty quick with the belt, he just said. Well, that should take care of that problem, if he does it again, try to ignore it, but good for you. That was it. I thought for sure I was going to get the chair! But the adults knew he was a crapweasel. And that was the end of it and the kid never said a word to me after I kicked his ass, problem solved.

In olden days, true bullies were bigger and/or stronger. If someone smaller and weaker than you picked on you, you'd smack 'em silly.

But today everyone knows that no one is allowed to smack anyone, so you will get puny kids picking on bigger ones. Seriously.
They don't throw their (neglible) weight around, of course. They just pick and pester.

Also"bullying" today includes all kinds of obnoxious, demeaning, and exclusionary behavior -- the mean-girls kind of thing. It's not just using brute force.

Nowadays being a citizen doesn't mean much. This bish and David Hogg are both legally a citizen. The Gonzalez Shemale too.

I don't recognize any of them as my countryman. They don't even want to live in the same nation as me or you.

They are people that probably hate me and want me dead, probably you too, they've got some citizenship papers you and I also have.

That's all I have in common with them.

Is there any comradery between us and them? Any common goals hopes, dreams, or belief? Anything in common besides the basic eat, poop, sex, sleep?

We don't even have the NFL anymore. The left killed it.

I would stand up for any shenanigans happening to you or anyone else I can recognize as a countryman. Thomas Sowell, Trump, David Clarke, my neighbors, memebers of the Horde in good standing, ect.

390 My Mom was like a Jedi night with the wooden spoon!

Posted by: Minnfidel at March 26, 2018 04:36 PM (7qnb5)

391 Wooden spoon when she didn't use a belt or just her hand. But it was never cruel, it was not common, and she'd always do it carefully and with thought. She would tell us to go to her room and bend over the bed. She'd calm herself down, then go in and methodically whale on us, then hold us tight, tell us she loved us, and explain why we were wrong and why we got spanked.

So it was about learning, not just anger or lashing out. I thought that was awfully wise.

You should always leave a parting fart.

And not just a toot, rip one hard, lift a leg like a dog, spread your cheeks with one hand and shake the nearby windows.

.My dad was like that too. Spent his life running a manual overhead machine press at Rockwell. He literally had Popeye arms and he had no problems beating the $hit out of me and my brother for transgressions real or imagined.

I remember one time he took to both of us with a belt and said he knew we did something but he didn't know what it was so he was beating us on general principles. When I brought it up after he died my mom said he didn't beat us too bad and to get over it.

He never touched my little sister though.

394 Terribly OT: The one thing I can't stand is conservatives whining that traffic is down at Breitbart because of Facebook!!

Yeah, screw Facebook--but that's why, because screw them.

If Facebook eventually gets regulated, I can't help but think that they brought it on themselves. But, we've seen how almost every power the government takes gets used by the Virus against conservatives. It's only going to be fair as long as it takes them to figure out an angle to scuttle the fairness and a line of argument on how they aren't really doing what they are doing--or what you're doing that is so bad to call them out on something.

If people don't get a good enough percentage of Breitbart in their Soma, maybe the problem is with the Soma machine.

I don't remember what I did, but I distinctly remember standing next to my Old Man, did something "smart alecky" and next thing I knew I was bouncing off the wall several feet away. Mom (she lied on her driver's license and said she was 5 feet tall) kept a ruler on the front seat of the car so she could reach back and smack my brother and I when we were misbehaving in the back seat.

411 The IQ question earlier

The US Army doesn't allow in people with an IQ below 84. Legally low 80s used to be the cut off for mentally handicapped. I think it was changed in the 90s, but I would have to check.

Either way, 80 is dumb. And I specifically use that word dumb Because at 80 IQ it is hard for someone to read and follow instructions. 80 IQ working a cash register is difficult.

Well, apparently that was the final straw of us making too much noise and romping around in the room cause in comes mom, finds me on the floor under a rug and I got it good.

And that fall, Page volunteered for the Trump Campaign--and the FBI told the FISA Court he was now a Russian agent. He went from helping the FBI to convict Russian agents to being called a Russian agent by the FBI in a few moths time.

And if he hadn't volunteered, no FISA warrant.

Hmmm...
