I wish that ~~Mohammed al-Ellison~~ Rep. Keith Ellison, (D-MN) would just come out and call for the elimination of capitalism. Since he is the DNC- Deputy Chairman it would set up a clear contrast for the mid-term elections this upcoming November.

It is just fine with him limiting wages of executives. He wants to see a Maximum Wage.

The deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee says he hopes to be a wage trailblazer and is calling for a "maximum wage" for CEOs.
Rep. Keith Ellison (Minn.) said on "Interviews for Resistance" that workplace leaders who make far more money than rank-and-file employees should be taxed more.
"Why do [CEOs] have to make more than 21 times your average worker? The CEO of McDonald's. You're telling me they can't make it on ... I don't know, if the workers are making $15 an hour ... Why can't the CEO make $300 an hour," Ellison asked.

Ellison wasn't content to show his complete ignorance on economics. He had to make a false statement about McDonalds.

There was little truth to anything Ellison said, a fact partially recognized by Truthout, which replaced Ellison's $9,000-an-hour figure with a closer to accurate $3,000-an-hour figure in the transcript it posted online. There is no mention on the page that Ellison used a different figure, even though the site chose to feature the edited quote on its page.
A Truthout "community liason" said the editorial team would "review the transcription discrepancy," but ultimately did not respond to questions on the decision to edit Ellison's quote without disclosing the change to readers.
Ellison's other evidence used to label McDonald's a "bad actor"—that it is "screwing over the environment" by "clear-cutting forests so they can graze more cattle"—also is not true.

The entire argument Barky and the Left were making for BarkyCare was that government can do it more cheaply and more efficiently - which was just the general argument for full-blown socialism. If government could do the health insurance and health care industries better than private ownership (because "there's no wasted overhead" and the like) then that same exact argument works to propose that government take over every industry. But the Vichy GOP didn't have anything, really, to say about the commie arguments - pointing out how Barky's idiotic reasoning was claiming that government does things - everything, really - better than private industry.

If the Vichy GOP can't handle slam dunks like that no one should be holding their breath waiting for them to jump all over even less substantial stupid claims by the leftist America-haters.

It's tough to explain to someone making $10 a hour why the CEO of their franchise makes $13 million a year and they got a .05 an hour wage increase last year.

I was thinking about this during the "student march". Yes, there were some big name celebs there, but there were many, many more not there.

117 I would like to say that what most CEOs make is absolutely absurd. This all started as a socialistic sort of argument, too - that the workers (the CEOs being nothing but workers) somehow were entitled to owning a good share of the company they worked for, with the asinine argument being that it incentivized them to do a good job (which they couldn't do for a large salary, as most were making). That argument was clearly ridiculous as up until that time most CEOs owned little or nothing of the companies they worked for and still did damn good jobs.

However, that said, private companies are allowed to waste their money on whatever they want and if they want to give themselves away to their workers then that is their choice. The idea that any but a small handful of CEOs are so unique and integral to the success (above average would be a requirement, one would guess) is just laughable.

Of course, all this was happening at the same time that management LBOs were all the rage, and you have to look long and hard to find something with even 1/10th the conflict of interest and sheer criminality that a management LBO entails (since management is hired to use a company's private data for the benefit of the company, not for themselves).

But, other than the illegal nature of management LBOs, none of this is the business of government. It's for the shareholders to decide how their companies money is to be spent. If they don't mind paying the CEO 5% of the company for a job that tons of other people could do equally well then that's their choice. If someone doesn't like it he can sell his shares and invest in a company that runs more to his liking.

The modern corporate legal environment is a rat's nest of ways to obfuscate corporate officer's income aside from whatever "wages" they receive, to the point where a corporate president could get the same "wages" as a line worker, but a health insurance plan that actually _works_, plus stock options, plus decent enough living quarters on the company's property, etc... and a lot of other things that line up to a much higher _effective_ wage rate.

Anyone who tells you this rule would actually be enforced against anything other than a really small business is probably lying to you, or otherwise stupid.

There was an explosion in the incomes of some people - sports players, movie stars, salesmen, brokers, ... that were quickly outpacing what the CEOs were making. This was also part of the push to raise CEOs compensation, since the CEO really should be making the most in a company, by standard thought.

Not an exact example, but there was a time when Harold Katz was having a rough time with Nutri-System and the joke was that Dr. J was richer than the owner of the team. This sort of thing was happening within companies and there was a feeling that something was akilter with CEO pay if subordinates were making more than them.

This was one of the rational arguments for having raised CEO pay and it had the benefit of being true, too.

The origin of the term is interesting. I don't recall the details, but basically the Reds split into factions at a planning meeting, with more than half walking out. I agree. My preference is calls, but a few times they asked me to fax them some statistics I had that they were not aware of.

People right now are so sick of Marches that they are tuning them out. It is great sound and fury, but have gotten annoying and confusing. Maybe someday there will be a need, but right now the most productive and stealth way is calls and letters. But sustained and by enough people.

I was watching some Lindybeige stuff today, and found an one of his where he ranted about YouTube. Apparently they just send content-creators a check each month, no explanation of HOW they calculate what they owe you. He tried to find out, and they just gave him a run-around.

He had most of his channel de-monetized; tried to find out why. They wouldn't tell him. Every email was answered by a bot; no sign of a person actually involved.

I can't imagine trying to earn a living by working with a company that is that opaque and seemingly random. I get that most YouTubers start as hobbyists, but at some point you have to expect some professionalism from YouTube.

(What does Lindybeige make videos about? History, with a focus on military history. His rant was set off by another channel being completely yanked from YouTube -- a channel that did practical research into history.)

CNN had a panel that basically told Anderson Cooper that same thing, after his interview with that former mistress of Turmps. One US Today reporter said she was gonna be consistent, and since she gave Clinton a pass, she would for Trump. (Though Imsee them differently, like you.) Anyway, the panel reaction was interesting about the catch and kill story too. I watched the interview and the panel afterwards, and I think Cooper was the one who got surprised.

Usually don't watch this stuff, but glad I did...it was on-line.

Only way Trump can hurt himself is if he denies. He needs his lawyer to craft something about it then move past it. Bcz the girl was believable, and Trump's lawyer's involvement was a giveaway.

If he denies and lies, he's gonna hang himself, like all people do. The lie is the thing. It was 10 years ago, own up to it somehow and move on. Make it about before election, and Melania and he are working it out, or something. But don't deny it.

I've reached the point now where I consider anyone who votes Democrat to be my enemy. It took me a long time to get there but the older I get the less time I have for giving people the benefit of the doubt. And then realizing my first impressions were correct to begin with.
