The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Intestinal fortitude, having the strength of your convictions, standing up for yourself...these are all terms to describe what many of us strive for. This young man has arrived. His buddies in the Republican club? Nope. They are panty-waisted little worms, and he is better off being far away from them. I'd suggest he throw poo at them, but they aren't worth the effort.

College Republicans president resigns rather than apologize for free speech wall that triggered peers

Some students became so upset by the free speech wall they accused the College Republicans of “hate speech” and “inciting violence” during a heated February campus meeting over it. But even after a parade of his peers took to the mic and accused Eike and other GOP students of hatred, the international student stood his ground.

“I don’t feel like stepping back on free speech is the way to go,” Eike, 21, told The College Fix in a telephone interview.

Eike left the meeting before it ended, and later other members of the St. Cloud State College Republicans apologized for not vetting the wall more carefully, and subsequently took it down.

The other members seem to be practicing for careers with the GOP! Apologizing for their political philosophy and caving to pressure from their political enemies? Sounds like they would fit right in! Paul Ryan has a few openings. And Mitch McConnell can always use a few spineless weasels on his staff.

IDF paratroopers teach US marines 'lost art' of tunnel combat

******

I know there isn't supposed to be any math on this blog, but as far as I can tell, Jamaica's murder rate is 12 times that of the USA. I'll bet they are getting their guns from Indiana, or maybe from American gun shows, where it is so very, very easy to just walk in and buy a full-auto AR-47 with 100 round clip magazines and rocket launcher attachment. And exploding bullets.

I've got think a correction is coming. But young people have to first decide to not cave to the peer pressure that only "smart/cool/correct-thinking" people go to college and the rest of the "dumb" people don't. They need to start pointing out to their friends "how smart is it to graduate with crippling student loan debt, and you've got a what? Degree in 17th century Eurasian literary theory? Good luck finding a job to pay that debt off."

Meanwhile, their other buddies who decided to become engineers or apprentices for plumbers or electricians, etc. are pretty much guaranteed to make good money starting out.

The FBI conducted a series of studies after that bloodbath of a shootout with bank robbers in Miami in 1984. One interesting factoid that emerged is that 15% of those shot by police fall to the ground because they think they're supposed to fall to the ground when shot. Because movies.

I've got think a correction is coming. But young people have to first decide to not cave to the peer pressure that only "smart/cool/correct-thinking" people go to college and the rest of the "dumb" people don't.

Whenever a 20 something complains about their student loan debt, I enjoy reminding them they didn't have to go to that really cute, small, private liberal arts college to read English Lit.

Your local community college has access to those same books, and it's not like any of their professors had any really original thoughts about those books.

They were even paying high wages for entry level unskilled people. They said the young people felt like these entry level jobs were 'beneath their dignity'.

And that goes along with something my younger brother once told me. He said entry level college people with engineering degrees expected to be hired on at $100K/year, two weeks vacation, day shift only 40 hour/week jobs with guaranteed weekends off.

133 You are using a direct statistical analysis as a way of comparing murder rates, which is useful.

But when the murder rate numbers are filtered through the Obama Economic Statistical Model (OESM), the story is quite a bit different. Using OESM we see that Jamaica could expect a murder rate of 240 per 100,000, thus we calculate that 180 lives were saved or created by strict gun control.

As such, we see that strict gun control reduces eatimated murder rates by 75% in Jamaica.

The problem is that hiring managers still think a college degree is important. This was years ago, but I worked with a young, bright woman whom one of our clients ( a telco) wanted to hire. I was eager for her to take advantage of a great opportunity, so I assisted in getting them her resume, gave an excellent recommendation, etc. And then nothing. They knew her, had worked with her for many months, and yet...didn't go forward because she had dropped out of college to take care of her sick grandmother. Was told no college degree was an HR no-go, regardless of how great the candidate was (and she was).

He started out here as a Talk Show guy. Was more of an Establishment Republican than anything - but he said most of the right things.

Made the State Assembly - again, mostly talk - because that's what you do in the State Assembly.

Made Governor - and turned out to be the biggest, what's the word ? Oh yeah ... pussy. Turned out to be a complete pussy. Always talking about refusing this ObamaCare thing, blocking that busload of refugees ... backed down every single time. Every. Single. Time.

He took the Trump offer because, honestly, he was going to lose re-election in Indiana. But, in the last year, he seems to have dropped at least a small set of testicles.

The brief article didn't say what they were "protesting". Some kids said it was important, but also said many kids just wanted to walk out.

254 re: tunnels

Flooding with anything takes a lot of the anything. 1000 feet of 6' x 3' tunnel has a volume north of 130000 gal.

It takes time to pump that in. Time for the people inside to bug out. Do you have *all* the exits covered? A convoy of water tankers on hand? Etc?

Sometimes, you want the people in the tunnel gone ASAP. Skilled men in the tunnel can do that best.

296 Funny how the letter always want to "bring gun violence down to European levels" while bringing American demographics down to shithole country levels.

It ain't the land thats causing the violence. It's the people.

If you take the data and adjust American demographics to match those European countries...then we have similar crime rates. Same for the shitholes too. Hell I bet if you adjusted American demographics to match Japan's then we would have similar crime rates.

If you want to talk about ways to work on lowering that demographic disparity, and we should because Jordan Peterson has some studies showing promise about lowering violence in agressive and low average IQ male populations(because those are the problem populations).

But the left just wants to disarm Americans so we we will be easier to slaughter South African ANC style next time the Democrats take power.

So the left can go fuck off and die on Paolo's gigantic dong.

My "best friend" in Chicagoland stabbed me in the back after a six-year friendship. We traveled to Kiawah Island, SC on spring break break with our sons, and I overheard her on the phone to her husband, mocking southerners, Charleston, the south in general, and me.

It killed me. I could barely look at her or speak to her for the long drive back to IL. We moved to GA shortly after that, and I haven't seen or heard from her since.

i don't blame all guys for shitty guys either.

and I've also had those experiences.

boss's worst was a guy, thought women shouldn't take a guys job.

i fact checked by , you have two choices, hire me, or you and all my coworking guys can pay for my kids and my welfare.

but that was One guy..

so?

My wife's family has a story they still laugh about today. When she was young, her family (5 kids = parents) would take long vacations out west in the station wagon. Often road food would cause her very serious father to have a bad case of gas, in the car. Whenever that happened, everyone would try to stay quiet while her mother said "Oh! 480 The College Republicans need to read Kurt Schlicter's column today and take a page out of his book.

Make them live by the same rules that they themselves set.

Not looking for fights. If you want a civil conversation or debate - let's have at it. Maybe we'll both learn something, and maybe even have a beer afterwards.

You want to insult me for speaking my mind or outshout me? You're dead to me. You have nothing to offer and a are a waste of time and space that I do not have time for. Move on, now.

You want to touch me or get in my face physically? Fine, we'll do that Escalate it to whatever level you choose. But know you will NOT like the outcome.

"Treat me good and I'll treat you better. Treat me bad and I'll treat you worse." as per Sonny Barger, Past President, Oakland Hells Angels.

Posted by: Insomniac - Nowhere Man at March 15, 2018 12:15 PM (NWiLs)

Funny, I never saw any of that with my female bosses, management-level peers or employees. The men I worked for, competed with and managed exhibited a lot of those characteristics, however, along with a healthy dose of "kiss up kick down", taking credit for other people's work, hiring cronies, and acting like arrogant asses.

So on the whole, I enjoyed working with women more. My best boss? A woman. My best/most successful employee? A woman. My favorite peer? A woman. And conversely, the worst were all men. If they were Disney dwarves, I would have named them Sneaky, Crony and Dumb. On the other hand, my experiences do not represent a statistically valid sampling of the entire US workforce or population. On the other other hand, I am not the one throwing around broad disparaging generalizations as if they are universally true.

I spent most of my young adulthood doing all I could to kick the cow shit off my boots and get the hell away from rural Indiana. After seeing a good part of the world and doing a big, convoluted circle around the North American continent, I find myself back here, 14 miles from where I was born. Truth is, it's home and I love it here.

Strangely, yes. Not as suprising as you'd think though, considering the crocadilians are most closely situated to birds of all living reptilians (both are archaeosaurs). With kind of a sea food-ish undertone. Good with cocktail sauce if fried, good on a sammich if blackened.

The Israelis have in fact been blowing up entire tunnel systems with something or other. I have seen video showing a linear 1 km long puff of surface dust from shock of detonation in underlying Pali tunnel, can't locate that video at the moment. Lots of videos of this sort of thing available.
