42 Slightly off topic - but not really - its descriptive of the swamp dwellers:

In retrospect Mueller was the perfect person to put on the Trump
Russia Collusion investigation. As he proved in the Anthrax letter case
he is a person who will doggedly stick to his initial theory regardless
of what the facts say.
Mueller hounded Steven Hatfill for years
in that case - even though the total evidence against Dr. Hatfill was no
more convincing than the similar evidence that could have been found
against an average Antarctic Emperor Penguin. Bob Mueller didn't let that even slow him down.

When he was finally forced to look elsewhere he picked out another U.S.
scientist and badgered him the same way he did Hatfill. When that
scientist couldn't take the abuse - he committed suicide. Mueller did
his best Fred Astaire impersonation in dancing on that scientist's grave
and declared the Anthrax letter case solved. Mueller didn't let the
fact that the strain of Anthrax involved matched the strain developed by
Saddam Hussein's bio warfare department deflect him from deciding it
had to be a conservative American scientist who did it.
So we can expect Inspector Clouseau to continue chasing wherever the clues don't lead - until at least the midterm elections.

I worked at a place that turned into that back in the late 80's. It was hell at the time, but illuminating to remember how it played out. What happened was that as the pressure got higher and the bosses behavior got worse, everybody there just started fucking everything up every chance they got. The bosses couldn't be there, they couldn't watch everything. And then there's also the slowdown, and suddenly every little thing takes 5 times as long to do as its supposed, and has to be redone, and still is totally screwed up when it is done. And there's always some people who suck up to management, so everyone else has this kind of unspoken tacit agreement to fuck up everything they're working on whenever their backs are turned, just because.

And it happens because once you get driven past a certain point, you just don't give a fuck anymore, and you figure what the heck, I guess I'm going down, lets see much of this worthless place I can take down with me.

162 If they really want to see low morale, they need to
come to my place of employment. Where all the good has been sucked out
of the place, incompetence reigns proudly at the top, we're yelled at by
VPs that we'd better fix their screw ups or they're shutting the place
down and the phrase of the time is, "we can't force you to work 12 hours
a day, but if you can't, you can find a new job."

I worked at a place that turned into that back in the late 80's. It
was hell at the time, but illuminating to remember how it played out.
What happened was that as the pressure got higher and the bosses
behavior got worse, everybody there just started fucking everything up
every chance they got. The bosses couldn't be there, they couldn't
watch everything. And then there's also the slowdown, and suddenly
every little thing takes 5 times as long to do as its supposed, and has
to be redone, and still is totally screwed up when it is done. And
there's always some people who suck up to management, so everyone else
has this kind of unspoken tacit agreement to fuck up everything they're
working on whenever their backs are turned, just because.

And it happens because once you get driven past a certain point, you
just don't give a fuck anymore, and you figure what the heck, I guess
I'm going down, lets see much of this worthless place I can take down
with me.

Posted by: Tom Servo at March 13, 2018 07:03 PM (k1TUh)

That model held true in the military as well when I was there. In the face of incompetent leadership soldiers aren't stupid. They aren't going to get themselves court-martialed or commit mutiny. They'd just start half-stepping in their jobs and pretty soon the efficiency of the unit would be in the shitter. And if there was competent upper leadership they would see this and the commander at fault would be held responsible and his career would suffer. Not that some didn't slip through the cracks but the system seemed to work pretty well in weeding them out.

Of course this was during the Cold War and our attention was focused on the Warsaw Pact and bad leadership could get you killed if it thrived. After the fall of the Soviet Union I'm afraid that careerists started to gain back a foothold. Not sure of the state of leadership today other than that Obama took a tremendous toll.

165 Did Tillerson really give an emotional speech?

Look, I have worked somewhere where I saw a CEO cause men to cry. Not full on boo-hoo in the room, but you could see they were holding it back...and then they did..when they exited. Chairman & CEOs can be brutal.

It was horrible. And these were manly men from Fortune 500 companies. It was startling for me and disturbing.

I think Trump is cut from that same clothe and brutality...we've seen indications.

That said, he is not the one dragging these lower level diplomats in and yelling at them. So are they sitting in their cars crying, or are these Obama leftovers? Or do 2 diplomats equal 2 people who are upset to see Rex go and are emotional. Since this is CNN reporter, and I don't know her, I wonder.

There are a lot of unanswered questions.

Also, was Rex really fired by tweet? I hope not. That is bush league, and you are not gonna get quality people for positions if they think they may be be humiliated before the country and world.

So, more questions than answers.

203 They should try being a doctor when you are called into a non clinical administrators office and are berated for not treating a patient for sepsis, when the patient didn't have sepsis. It is explained to you that a fast heart rate, fast respiratory rate and elevated lactate means sepsis by Medicare guidelines. When you explain that the patient was having a seizure, and that explains those values, and sepsis treatment would have killed this patient, you are told to follow the guideline no matter what or CMS will cut funding. Therefore a heart rate of 120, plus a respiratory rate of 22, and a lactate of 4 gets 3 liters of fluids plus 3 antibiotics and a slew of labs no matter what. Even if the patients sodium is 104 and 3 liters of fluid will cause irreversible brain damage. It is cheaper for the hospital to settle that one case than take a funding cut from Medicare.

all these nancys crying in their cars need to go work a couple of months in the coal mines of china. or make them pay off the $700K per family debt we have accrued. Or make them spend a tour in butt-fuckistan dodging IEDs.

212 Also, was Rex really fired by tweet? I hope not. That is bush league, and you are not gonna get quality people for positions if they think they may be be humiliated before the country and world."

I'll bet that Rex was told on Friday night, when he came back to DC in a hurry, that it was time to resign or be fired. And then Rex did nothing and pretended "You're not the Boss of Me!"

and Trump replied, "Yeah, I am the boss of you, but not for very much longer - buh bye!"

And if that kind of insubordination was going on, firing by tweet was justified.

It would be worse if they spoke up about differences of opinion on foreign policy for example with the summit with Rocketman possibly coming up. To me it is seems to reason they had a difference of opinion on US foreign policy, and the president needed a guy he has full confidence in

That is no slight to Tillerson, these things happen. Maybe there was bad blood over something, but that's not my problem either. They can keep the drama. In the end, Trump is president and he needs the guys he wants pursuing his policy.

NO, he did not say he found out he was fired by a tweet. He said at his press conference today(which I watched at lunch) that Pres. Trump called him this am from Air Force One and asked him to help with an orderly transition at State. Kelly called him this morning also with the same request. Tillerson is officially handing over duties tonight to his undersecretary and is staying on until March 31st to handle administrative issues.

Fox reporters talking to WH officials said that Kelly called Tillerson in Africa last Friday and told him he was being asked to step down. Tillerson asked to be able to return home first before an announcement was made. He got home Sunday at 4am, then had all of yesterday to tell whomever he wanted at State he was being replaced. Trump posted his tweet this morning about the changes, answered a lot of questions from reporters as he was going to Marine One this am, thanking Rex for his service , and then Tillerson had his press conference this afternoon.
