Book: Obama Had Longstanding Relationship with FusionGPS, Employing Them in 2012 to Dig Opposition Dirt on Mitt Romney

You know, Romney never paid taxes for ten years.

(That's not a FusionGPS claim, to my knowledge. I'm just making a reference.)

Oh, Washington Consensus, tell me more about the straight-shooting hard-nosed investigative reporter Glenn Simpson and how you can totally trust everything his clients want you to print.

A new book claims former President Barack Obama hired Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on Romney

Obama used law firm Perkins Coie to hide payment to Fusion GPS

The Clinton campaign would later do the same thing to investigate Trump

The Barack Obama presidential campaign hired Fusion GPS in 2012 to dig up dirt on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, according to a book released on Tuesday.

The Obama campaign hid its payments to Fusion GPS through its law firm, Perkins Coie. The arrangement is similar to the one that the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee used to pay Fusion for its investigation of then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016.

...

"As had become standard practice in the shadowy world of 'oppo' research, the Obama campaign’s payments to Fusion GPS were never publicly disclosed; the money paid to the investigative firm was reported on campaign disclosure reports as legal bills to the campaign’s law firm, Perkins Coie," the book reads.

The Washington Consensus always knew this, too, but just didn't want to be the one to spill the beans.

Thanks to Commenter.

(Actually I got it elsewhere but I see Commenter mentioned it in the last thread.)

It doesn't matter, there's all sorts of ruby red Southern States that still have a voter ID like this that are still "Republican" states. Mainly older voters that have just never changed their registration.

The district went Trump by nearly 20 points and the last time a Democrat even ran in that congressional district was 2012, and the Republican won by like 30 points.

If a Democrat can win there without some some sort of huge scandal, 2018 is looking grim.

309 This book, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, was written by David Corn and Michael Isikoff. Corn is a far lefty. Isikoff is the Yahoooooooo! News reporter to whom Christopher Steele leaked dossier crap.

Two excerpts are available for free reading at Mother Jones magazine's website:

What Happened in Moscow: The Inside Story of How Trump's Obsession With Putin Began -- His 2013 visit paved the way for a scandal that shook the world.
http://bit.ly/2G5ftcI

Why the Hell Are We Standing Down? -- The secret story of Obama's response to Putin's attack on the 2016 election.
http://bit.ly/2FnHKy7

EXCERPT:
What could possibly explain Trump's unwavering sympathy for the Russian strongman?...

Trump's brief trip to Moscow [2013] held clues to this mystery. His two days there would later become much discussed because of allegations that he engaged in weird sexual antics while in Russia - claims that were not confirmed. But this visit was significant because it revealed what motivated Trump the most: the opportunity to build more monuments to himself and to make more money. Trump realized he could attain none of his dreams in Moscow without forging a bond with the former KGB lieutenant colonel who was the president of Russia.

This trek to Russia was the birth of a bromance - or something darker - that would soon upend American politics and then scandalize Trump's presidency....

348 If Lamb wins Dems will campaign like centrists, voters will buy their bullshit and a blue wave is back. Voters, especially LIVs believe Lamb will support 2A and oppose Pelosi. The stupid is so strong in America today.

359 308 Obama used law firm Perkins Coie to hide payment to Fusion GPS

I have yet to see anyone or any law firm be punished for this - and they should both be punished mightily as this strikes at the very heart of our system of jurisprudence."

You never will.

Law firms make the case that it is their ethical duty to represent their Client's interests above all else, and to maintain strict confidentiality as to all of their clients information. And that if there is any blame to be laid for evading regulations, then it is the client who should be investigated and charged for doing it. They also will make the case that they are not obligated to do the Government's investigatory work for them.

In this example, Perkins would say to any investigator, "Well we TOLD him that he should properly report any checks paid out by our firm as his own campaign expenditures, you can't blame us for the fact that he apparently didn't listen to our advice."

With an awful candidate. If either of the two guys he beat in the primary had been the candidate we take that seat in a walk.

It doesn't matter what the media did or the establishment, when you have proven to be a marginal candidate in Alabama as a conservative Republican and you are also the candidate of dating teens, your probably gonna end up sucking the pipe.

I don't see that race of indicative of anything other than we need good candidates.

+++++++

If the Republican wins by half the margin Trump did in 2016, I would definitely say I don't see a blue wave in November.

But a +20 Trump district flipping Democrat because the Republican candidate is a little vanilla is whistling past the graveyard.

For the record, I lean towards the Republican winning in PA.

She's got both mental infirmities as well as physical disabilities.

And STILL she is a nasty old bitch.

Nothing has mellowed that old nasty cow.

I feel for the people who have to wait on her hand and foot, especially because she probably smells like sour onion and cabbage beef soup with a undernose of old stained underwear with a built-up crust that not even a nuclear powered jackhammer could break free.

She looks like she doesn't bathe all that much. Why bother, she's the fuckin queen!

I think Shrillary did that just to demonstrate to us how she fell backwards walking down the stairs some months ago.

Shrillary really needs to live in an Escher world where she can get anywhere by walking up stairs. Because if she keeps trying to walk down stairs eventually she's going to crack her head open and then file tons of lawsuits against stair manufacturers and the guy who invented stairs.
