The Morning Report 3/13/18

schmaltz.jpg

Good morning kids. Tuesday, so here we go. Up front, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the man who made Californians regret recalling Gray Davis, has announced his intention to sue the oil companies for murder.

Speaking to Politico during the SXSW festival in Texas, Schwarzenegger said that he will be mounting a lawsuit against oil companies "for knowingly killing people all over the world."

"This is no different from the smoking issue," Schwarzenegger said. "The oil companies knew from 1959 on, they did their own study that there would be global warming happening because of fossil fuels, and on top of it that it would be risky for people's lives, that it would kill."

"If you walk into a room and you know you're going to kill someone, it's first degree murder; I think it's the same thing with the oil companies," he said.

I'll leave the link at IBD Editorials to break down the complete absurdity of this on the granular/legal level. From the broader context of reality, history and truth, it is oil in fact that is not only the fuel that drives the engine of prosperity (to crib a line from Rush Limbaugh), it is oil that, almost as much as air and water, that has caused human life to flourish since the start of the Industrial Revolution. Beyond merely fuel to power engines for transport and power generation, there is virtually not a single product that we eat, consume, wear or otherwise are in contact with on every second of every day that is not made of or requires petroleum in its manufacture and use. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that oil was life, is life and gives life to every man, woman and child on this planet.

Sadly, oil in the form of steroids or jet exhaust from the G-5 private jet he owns, has evidently killed off whatever functioning brain cells Schwarzenegger has left in his cavernous cranial cavity, as well as any sense of common decency. Aside from spouting pure Communist agitprop because he hates the President for pulling out of the Paris Climate Shakedown Scam, the idiot Austrian's rhetoric is not only wildly over the top, it's dangerous. It inspires the likes of James "friend of Dick Durbin" Hodgkinson to gun down GOP politicians, or a neighbor to beat up and nearly kill Rand Paul as well as myriad violent attacks on conservatives at college campuses, political rallies and elsewhere (perhaps even the spate of bombings in Austin, though that may be premature).

In a related story, the out of control 9th Circus is allowing the scam of "climate change" to be recognized as a Constitutional issue whereby lawsuits can be brought in an attempt to circumvent PDT's pro-growth,anti-Malthusian policies. All of this is the perfect illustration of the strategy of "by any means necessary." At least the US Navy is rejecting bio-fuels for its destroyers. That is until Justice Punchy Macadamia pronounces otherwise.

In other news, the House Intel Committee has officially pronounced that there was no collusion at all between President Trump and Russia, a conclusion which racialist criminal shyster Eric Holder found somewhat objectionable. Given his record or using the DOJ as a criminal enterprise, as well as his radical, America-hating pedigree, the chutzpah of this creep is truly radiant. Despite the House committee retiring, the Senate committee plods on and there is news now that Mueller is going to broaden the scope of his investigation even more to try and grab somebody doing something somewhere. It really is time to shut this shit-show down. At this point, the meme of Trump-must-be-hiding-something ain't gonna fly.

That said, supposedly that bastion of freedom, tolerance and Democracy Qatar is colluding with Mueller to give him alleged dirt on the President and his associates. That gets a "meh" from me but then there's a story of the administration agreeing to sell them $200 million in military gear, despite that country being at the center of a spying operation targeting American Jews. Besides this, which is bad enough, Qatar is turning into a regional bad actor, so that sale is kind of problematic.

It's election day in PA-18 where the Democrats are hoping that their latest version of Ossoff, Conor Lamb, can win the district from GOP candidate Ric Saccone. The district went heavily Trump in 2016 but with the state's supreme court rigging the electoral map and from all reports a somewhat lackluster effort from Team Saccone, Lamb might pull out a win. If that happens, it will be the signal that the end of the Trump era is nigh. If he loses the media reaction will be "squirrel!"In a related story, a Philadelphia city commissioner is sounding the alarm bells of significant non-citizen voter registration in the state. In any case, if this is your district get out and vote.

Anyway, lots of other links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

22 sraeli television is to broadcast the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with Arabic commentary for the first time, offering free of charge coverage of world soccer's most prestigious competition to Israel's Arabic-speaking neighbors.

The Foreign Ministry of Israel's Arabic-language Facebook page announced last week that Israel Broadcasting Authority would be broadcasting the games via satellite in Arabic for free, thereby breaking a Qatari monopoly on World Cup coverage in Arabic that has proved unaffordable for many in the Middle East.

Be the first to know - Join our Facebook page.

According to Egypt Independent, Israel Broadcasting Authority purchased the broadcasting rights for approximately $7.8m and will rival Qatar's beIN Sports television channel's coverage of the World Cup in countries including Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

With Qatar's BeIN Sports demanding that fans pay $45 per household to watch the World Cup in Arabic, a subscription proving unaffordable for many in the region, millions of Middle East soccer fans are likely to turn to Israeli coverage as a free alternative.

109 U.S. government figures show that more than 60% of illegal alien households receive at least one form of federal welfare, and many receive more than one.

Yet Dims want to erase our borders and let all the world's poor come here and live off us, because it's "inclusive" and that's fun to say and makes them feel virtuous.

We're $20 trillion in debt, have hundreds of trillions more in unfunded liabilities in programs like Social Security and Medicare, we're running yearly deficits of nearly a trillion dollars, and we can't currently afford to provide our own military veterans with the health care we promised them, but we can easily throw open our borders and welcome millions more welfare-dependent poor from foreign nations, because . . . . . . . . . . . . magic!

Just once, I'd like to hear one of these open-borders pukes explain how we're going to get the money to afford all these new "immigrants" we're going to get once ICE is abolished and our borders officially erased.

What I can't get behind is that she wanted to be the leader of the *Free World* knowing she has medical and mobility/balance issues.

What kind of image would we be showing if the President of the United States had to be helped up and down that stairs and falls despite two men helping her? Is that an image we want to project to the entire World?

We are way past the days of the Government being able to hide the FDR wheel chair from the public. If she won she would have had a camera on her 24/7 and she would appear weak and frail to our enemies.

Instead we have Trump, who at 70 has got more energy than I did when I was 50.

152 this is a simple chart of oil price since 1987 in current (2010?) dollars. pretty stable around $20 from '87 to '99 (where it dropped briefly to $10 and drove many US drillers out of business, as dotcoms soared on nothing).

From '99 to 9/11/2001 it then soared to $30 (thanks OPEC), then War ... soared to $140 in 2008. Today it is $61, still triple what it averaged before 9/11.

http://www.futuresbuzz.com/cl.bmp

Corn on the other hand, despite that major increase in cost of production (oil) has stayed about the same since 1987, after falling from $12/bu in the 50's (2010 dollars) to around $4/bu.

So NO, corn prices (nor ethanol) are not the reason food costs MIGHT be rising slightly. Think public unions, tort lawyers, welfare costs, foreign war costs (to help Bush/Saudis oil profits), and the tripling of the (real dollar) cost of oil since 2000.

https://tinyurl.com/y7m3sh28
that is a corn price chart ($3.62/bu today)

Not that you could expect the rank-and-file leftist to know that, but at the command-and-control levels it is probably Gospel.

189 So you want to see how the sausage is made in the Maryland General Assembly? Maryland has over 20 firearm bills being stuffed into this legislative session, with most of them being discussed in a marathon session.

The link is to the Maryland House discussing proposed legislation, and testimony both for and against the proposed legislation.

If you go to the 3:5:55 mark, it eventually gets to the discussion of the proposed legislation making the possession of removable magazines with greater than 10 round capacity illegal.

And pay attention to Baltimore's finest who begins to offer testimony in support of the wrong Bill, and when asked, basically says he is in support of whatever the City's position is.

And notice how the limitations of both the U.S. and Maryland Constitution don't really seem to enter into their legislative thought process in the City.

It's a long watch, but if you are a 2A supporter, it's a real peek behind the curtain.

In fact the only places where slavery (other than for sexual purposes) is commonly still in use is in places that are so poor that they do not have money for engines or for the gasoline or diesel to power them.

Slavery was always a means to increase production above subsistence levels. Which is why even relatively poor people owned one or two. Unless of course they had many sons to work the land.

Yep, and it works the same for drug addicts, who are also eligible for monthly Supplemental Security Income checks (which are nothing but thinly-disguised welfare checks for people who never paid enough into Social Security to qualify for SS disability) -- but only for so long as they remain addicts.

If they kick their drug habit, they lose their eligibility for the monthly checks. So the federal government actually pays people to keep being drug addicts.

430 In that SCOTUS gerrymandering story, Justice Ginsburg states "Would we have that result when the individual citizen says, 'I have no choice, I'm in this district, and we know how this district is going to come out?' I think that's something that this society should be concerned about."

Perhaps she should look in the mirror: whatever case comes before the Supreme Court, we know how at least 7 of the 9 Justices are going to vote, before the arguments are even presented. To paraphrase her, "we have no choice, and we know how this Supreme Court case will be decided."

Ginsburg is the most reliably predictable Justice up there. Yes, I d**n well think that this is something society should be concerned about.

This troll actually displays the Academic/Government mindset that knows nothing at all about how the hard-edged Business mindset works. When you're hiring for positions, you make your best guesses but you realize that you *Never* really know how any one person is going to work out. In academia/government, they say "oh well, gotta live with it, too bad". But a business mindset is "hire someone who looks like the best, but as soon as it's clear that they're not working out the way you planned, fire them and go with someone else." It's a plan designed to end up with the best people after a people of trial and error; it has the added benefit of letting everyone else know that their performance needs to keep being at a high level.

NOW we have a real good shot at Pompeo working out, because he's already proved his ability with a year at CIA, and his new deputy is going to be given time to build on his successes.

No, just. . .

I had a bad night (personal relationships) and knowing there will be a foot or two of snow to get through and then hope to clear when I get home isn't helping. I might be fine (I hope I'll be fine), but I can easily see myself overwhelmed at the sheer futility of it all, dropping down into the snow and just crying. My mind is gnawing at me, that's all.

I'll be OK. Just need a little spiritual strength right now. Speaking of which, when I have time, I'll have to mention this Bible study group I found out meets Saturdays at my local cigar shop.

I think only the people who really deeply care about what the Washington/New York establishment thinks have a hard time. I think guys like Pence don't have any trouble at all - he knows he keeps his personal life free of scandal, and he knows everyone in D.C. is jackals and asses, so who cares what they say? Pence doesn't. Same thing with a guy like Scott Pruitt - he came into the office hating everyone in the Federal Govm't, which in my eyes makes him perfect for the job. So he just needs to be sure to keep himself squeaky clean, and remind himself daily that the only friends he has will always be back in Oklahoma.

509 "No that is not how stuff works. That's how Trump works and he seems to do okay with that style."

Most of the successful small business people I've known in my life operate that way. The ones that don't are generally not to be found in the "successful" category.

People who are more comfortable with Big Corpa tend to fall into the bureaucratic/academic/governmental mindset. Which is where everyone is passive/aggressive all day long and the nominal "boss" pretends that he can never make any decisions on his own. (kinda like the bosses in "The Office" (movie).

510 i try to ignore Trumps deals when I'm not fond of a tweet etc.
Because if We don't pump him up and help him help the country who will?
we already realize he isn't a saint.
But he's miles better than those writing of his less than stellar exploits. (media)

those trying to impeach him (left)

while having ignored and assisted the corruption for a decade or more.

so i find Trump a normal typical guy that we pushed into a win.
i leave the stabbing to our enemies.

not a fANgirl, just consider what almost won.

My disagreement with what you are saying has to do with degree. Hiring is a skill in itself. If someone has to fire people with the frequency in which you indicate is normal, then I believe that person needs to up his hiring game.

Turnover is typical in all new administrations. The new president often tries to bring on his campaign staff into the new administration, and that almost never works in governing. Trump had that problem, but he has been mostly hamstringed by the professional Washington set and they all have to go.

Tillerson (especially) had to go: he did not want to clean up
State, he didn't want to upset the status quo in the middle east, and he
was not happy with defending Trumps personal diplomacy efforts. Hopefully, McMaster goes next.

JJ Sefton,

I have always associated (part of) your sign off, "have a better one" with a bit of dialogue from Bladerunner. - I think at about the three-quarters portion when Deckard is calling JF Sabastion and a patrol cop (in his flying car) floats in to arrest Deckard. Until, that is, Deckard informs the cop that he is working and gives the cop his serial number.

Anyway, is that (Bladerunner) in anyway associated with your daily sign off?

529 The world's poor countries should consider a counter-suit. Here's my reasoning.

Every theory I've heard that lays deaths at the oil companies' door begins by blaming them for foreign wars "for the oil." But the only reason Americans ever had to look overseas for oil is that our own government put most of our own oil off-limits for exploration and production and kept it that way. (Trump is to be commended for finally ending these laws, especially in relation to our coastal waters.)

Thus if we fought any given war in the Middle East or Africa "for oil," that was a direct result of the eco-nut movement deliberately making America's own oil unavailable.

Of course, we must also treat as treasonable the idea that we should not be using so much oil (or energy generally). Let those who think it's immoral for people to be wealthy be deported to poor countries immediately. Starting with Soroshed.
