The Morning Report 3/12/18

sesscov.jpg

Good morning kids. An hour behind with this daylight savings time garbage and I'm running behind, so I'll try and make this brief so you can get to the links and comments, not necessarily in that order.

In the lead this morning is the seeming awakening, figuratively and figuratively again, of Super Secret Sleeper AG Lemmon 714, better known as Jeff Sessions. As the first key political leader to back PDT's candidacy and on his key issue of immigration, Sessions is now taking on the State of California and its overt nullification of federal law in both refusing to cooperate with Federal authorities in the upholding of federal and even state law, and the brazen criminality by elected officials who are committing acts obstruction of justice; Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf being the most visible example. We also have a rogue Judiciary that has blatantly usurped Executive branch authority to in effect short circuit that branch's Constitutional authority and aid in what is in effect a coup to overthrow this President and the will of the people who elected him.

The administration's proper response to this latest judicial power grab should be to echo Andrew Jackson's possibly apocryphal but apposite retort to the chief justice back in 1832: "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it"... The law is clear: state and local officials need not actively cooperate with ICE, but neither are they allowed to frustrate it. Sessions' suit is just a first step toward reining in the "resistance" before it becomes an actual insurgency.

On the international front, we still have the pants-wetting from the Democrat-Media complex and their NeverTrumper allies from the cuck-tale circuit about the as yet to be scheduled PDT/Whoa, Fat! summit. Of all people Bill Maher is defending the meeting and telling his fellow travelers to STFU/STFD. And then we have Ben Rhodes, Obama's former national security advisor who has the unmitigated temerity to mock PDT by saying "this is not a reality show." This is the same Ben Rhodes whose qualifications to be national security adviser were that he was a failed screenwriter and his brother was the head of CBS' news division. Can we somehow arrange a meeting between Maher and Rhodes so that the former can gently give the latter some advice on this subject?

In the lightning round, as the Mueller investigation is now all but dead, the Democrats are pinning their hopes on this Stormy Daniels broad to somehow bring down the President. Evidently, she is scheduled to be on "60 Minutes (of Lies)" next week and Moonves and company may get slapped with a restraining order before then. Meanwhile, more and more solid information about Hillary is being revealed which the non-media continues to ignore and spin.

Lastly, a couple of interesting pieces worth a read: Evidently Vladimir Putin ordered the shoot-down of an airliner that reportedly had a bomb on board and was heading for the Sochi Olympics, but quickly rescinded that order when it turned out to be a hoax. And Ruth Marcus lets the mask slip; she'd abort her unborn child if pre-natal testing revealed it had impaired "intellectual" capacity. I think she meant impaired intelligence, since Gerber's decision to feature a Downs Syndrome child on its packaging is resulting in a more and more legislation banning their abortion in utero. But in any case, Marcus spoke the truth. The elites regard us as lumpenproletariat masses to be controlled or culled. Electing Donald Trump to stop their madness obviously indicates that all of us have impaired intellectual capacity. And we will conform or, well, you get the picture.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

American Thinker has a piece by Ed Straker who asks the question "How many more stories can they write about stopping an evil android from the future who has come back into our present to kill someone?" He is writing about the endless sequels to 'Terminator' that Hollywood keeps pumping out.

29 Yes, the Democrats are unveiling their strategy for the 2018 midterms:

*Tax Hikes
*No Border Security
*Impeachment

I know this sounds insane, but I suppose there are a few Democrats that realize these are not going to sell well with the population in general, but considering how the Democrat's activist base is, I do not see them having much choice but to go with these. I would sympathize, but they created and fed the monster so now they get to be gobbled up by it.

It doesn't matter what anyone cares about, they want a hook to hang Trump on.

.This. For what ever reasons, some here want Sessions to give constant speeches and interviews on what he is doing like holder and lynch did.

That is simply not the way actual real law enforcement works.

And no matter how badly everyone wants hillary, obama, holder, lynch, et al. arrested and tried, it is never going to happen.

The sooner everyone gets over that the sooner we can move on to things that actually have a chance of happening like California getting a SCOTUS smack down and sanctuary Cities loosing their Federal $$$.

67 On that Obamacare story, didn't congress deliberately not include a severability clause in the bill, because they thought the mandate was so important that if it was struck down, the rest of the scam would be unworkable? I seem to recall reading that in some articles back before Justice Roberts pulled the magic "tax" argument out of his hat.

The linked article mentions that congress repeatedly said that the mandate was essential, but it doesn't mention WHY congress thought it was essential, and how it figured into their decision not to include a severability clause in the bill.

I agree, Fen. Besides the fact that it's much more efficient to do your job than to talk about doing your job, there are so many things that need straightening out that no matter what he does, someone will always say, yeah, but what about this? Despite what people seem to think, it's impossible to fix it all at once and I'm sure the deeper he digs on things, the more he finds that needs fixing.

As I told my kids the day after election, yes, it's a huge (yuuuge) victory, but it's going to take years and years to straighten our country out after what has been allowed to go unchecked for so long.

And that is the nub of my comment. She meant to say mentally impaired, which believe me is horrifying enough.

The word "intellectual" goes way beyond merely the mental health metric of retardation, etc. She means we, the unwashed "lumpenproletariat" who are not intellectual but the peasantry.

That is truly frightening. Although on second thought, how could she ever think the poisoned fruit of her cellulitic loins could be anything but "intellectual" in the Beltway sense of the word?

Will to power. That word is a frightening peek into a mindset that killed about 200 million people in a little over 100 years.

81 Wisconsin's Scott Walker tries to move to the political center.

"In trying to win a third term, Scott Walker is campaigning as if his first two terms did not exist," said Scot Ross, director of the liberal group One Wisconsin Now.

Walker was reported to be worried about GOP losses in 2018 and was warning the GOP to do something about it.

82 I find myself agreeing with Elizabeth Warren and I find that disturbing.

"I am not afraid of tariffs. I think tariffs are one part of that trade policy. It's not the only part. There are other parts of trade policy," Warren said. "I want to see a trade policy that puts American workers first, puts American small businesses first, puts American consumers first."

"I think that our trade deals have been negotiated for a very, very long time now to benefit large, multinational corporations, not to benefit American workers," Warren added. "Not to benefit America's small businesses, and often not even to benefit American consumers."

IIRC, there was also the problem was that ObamaCare was a draft bill. I forget what chambers' version it was, but the bill never got reconciled with other versions to clean up language and make certain everything was in it because of the senate election in Massachusetts and getting something passed before Scott Brown could arrive and block it.

156 151 Re: Sessions. I've mentioned this before, real life is not like a novel where the hero magically and quickly finds the answer to his current dilemma and saves the girl, the country, himself. In the real world these things take time. PDT and Sessions are dealing with 8 years of the Obama presidency and his far reaching policies, mandates, and in some cases illegal actions. It takes time to investigate and hopefully change policies or hopefully prosecute. It's been less then 14 months. Patience is needed.

Nobody should be surprised about this. Trump has said from the very beginning, way before he was elected, that he would talk to anybody. He's a businessman at heart. He's totally up for sitting down with anyone, friend or foe, and making a deal.

Of course, the world is pretty much on notice at this point that it will NOT be a deal that sucks for the US. He's a very tough negotiator. It would be unwise for Kim to try and get over on Trump, or waste his time.

The Left bought the Clinton dodge that the impeachment was all because of the Lewinsky affair - they have completely bought into the narrative that the GOP and conservatives were most upset about Bill's sex life, and the sex life of others, such as Weiner, Spitzer. As a result, they think the best way to get Trump supporters to abandon him is with a sex scandal.

The Left does not understand their enemy, so they make mistakes like this.

It won't. Even they know it.

But they push it as the latest opportunity to put bad news for Trump at the top of the newscast.

Most of these laughable 'scandals' are just a harassment tactic, used to undermine and rally their rabies-infected base.

I call BS on that story. At this point the space station appears to be equally "likely" to fall anywhere between 43 degrees N and 43 degrees S latitude, which covers wide swaths of just about every continent except Antarctica. My guess is that some newspaper in Michigan looked at the map, noticed that Lower Michigan fell within those boundaries, wrote an alarmist story and the Daily Mail happened to pick it up. Guess it's going to be Skylab all over again....
