Good Morning Morons; today is Sunday, March 11, 2018. On this day in 1888 the Great Blizzard of 88 began along the eastern seaboard of the United States, shutting down commerce and killing more than 400 people. All these catastrophic storms are nothing new. The biggest difference is that far fewer people die because of them.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at March 11, 2018 06:17 AM (mpXpK) ======== Indeed. It's approaching unusability this morning. I really think the pixy sysadmin needs to check the configuration of the new server. This only started happening *after* we got switched over. Maybe it's some sort of timeout problem? The stack has "encoding" at the top, but also "sql" at the bottom. So maybe it is sending some encoding related request to the database server and timing out because of misconfiguration. Maybe it's a version problem with the OS or database client software on the new server. Or did they install new blogger python scripts? Or even a new version of python and python db interfaces? All differences between the old and new servers should be investigated. Does Jeff Sessions have any IT experience? Maybe we need him to look into this. Reporting in from lovely Prishtina, Kosovo. No time change here, bitches (not that I'm aware of, at least)!
One of my many duties here is overseeing chemical site storage inspections. Let's just say it's not to the same standard as the US. A Kosovar buys a factory abandoned by Serbs after the war, locks all the hazardous material in a leaky, rusting corrugated metal storage building, and then forgets about it. No idea what chemicals are there, no money to dispose of it (business or government). It's a mess. Now imagine walking in, seeing rusting 55 gallon drums scattered everywhere oozing out who knows what toxins? Everyone's good on locking it up and posting warning signs, and plans are in place with local emergency crews on how to respond to major spills and fires, but actually proactively AVOIDING those incidents is a little tougher. My new task is trying to work through the US embassy and EU for help in addressing the problem. Posted by: Grimaldi at March 11, 2018 06:30 AM (Q5TcZ) 27

It seems to get the error when querying the comments. Ie. I've never gotten the error when just going to ace.mu.nu. So even though there's nothing wrong with the comment encodings per se, the query there causes problems.
Isolate the query and run it from the command line. It should be easy since this site is so primitive and text based. Get some more detailed error code from the database server. We just see an exception from python but not the actual error returned from the database. Posted by: Steve and Cold Bear at March 11, 2018 06:40 AM (/qEW2) 33

Posted by: quint at March 11, 2018 06:37 AM Discussions of EU bureaucracy aside, they've committed quite a lot of resources to helping Kosovo develop, they have funds and like environmental projects. Kosovo also has an interesting constitutional policy where a set number of Parliament seats are reserved for minority groups (primarily ethnic Serbs). As many Serbs enclaves operate under control of both Serbia and Kosovo under a weird power sharing arrangement, many of the Serbs MPs are not very supportive of any laws helping Kosovo progress, letting them gum up the works. So maybe it is sending some encoding related request to the database server and timing out because of misconfiguration. I was the program director at my college radio station at about the time the Queen album "Jazz" was released. The album came with a poster featuring at least a couple dozen very hot, voluptuous women wearing nothing but bike helmets and sneakers seated on bicycles, as if waiting to start a race (the album featured the song "Bicycle Race"). Anyway, as part of a promotion, Elektra Records was raffling off the seats from the bikes because, in the words of the company they were rented from, the seats had been "soiled." I just read this at Breitbart. And almost as sickening is the British police warning not to post the truth about this on social media or else face arrest. Fuck England. ____________________ Yes, the British governments (both national and local) have been actively aiding and abetting this shit, first by importing these loathsome cretins into their society, then by letting them live on the dole for decades so that they have plenty of free time to rape local kiddies, then by turning a blind eye when locals cried out for help, then by shaming and blaming any actual citizens who dared to express outrage over the muzzies' vile crimes. You have to wonder how many more places in Britain this kind of thing has been going on. And how long are British men going to act like cowardly p*ssies and continue to put up with the literal rape and pillaging of their country by their muslim "guests." FWIW, I think if Ticked Pink of anyone else hates the human race, it's probably helpful-if they or we can-to unplug from social media, TV and not use a cell phone for a week (except for work rated things) and get away to the beach or someplace restful. Too much looking at TV tends to make us p participate in love triangles, murders and car chases, in addition to bad news which is adrenaline producing and stress maximizing. Without it we can hopefully restore and breathe and feel joy.
