CNN: Broward County Sheriff's Deputies Didn't Enter School to Stop Shooter

Yup, good guys with guns can't stop a shooter. Especially when all they do is take cover behind their vehicles.

When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff's deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.

It's just more proof that it's crazy to want your own gun to defend your own body.

33 In most mass shootings, the first sign of active resistance to the shooter tends to lead them toward suicide.

The police officers outnumbered the perpetrator. And they were still afraid to go inside to save lives.

The police aren't there to protect anyone. They're there to document the pools of blood on the floor and to take the suspect to jail.

This is why we have to train and defend ourselves. Waiting for someone else to do it is suicidal.

If Cruz had had all these interactions with the cops before 18, bought the gun just as he turned 18, then more interactions after, then all his records had been sealed because juvenile. The interactions after wouldn't have made a difference, he just may not have been able to purchase any more firearms. But by then the horse had left the barn.

So they would 1. Use students to commit felonies, 2. Wait for the quota, 3. Utterly get away with the crime. Gangs ran rampant and no fucks were given.

The Broward deputies were tasked with concealing crimes, not acting on them. Remaining in the parking lot was consistent with what they had been trained and conditioned to do regarding crimes at county schools.

It's pretty simple, if you are unarmed and resist or make a quick movement or crawl incorrectly while sobbing uncontrollably ...they will draw a weapon and execute you because, ya know, they are in fear for their lives.

If you are unarmed and a gun wielding psycho is mowing down you and your friends, they will stand down and hide until the gun wielding psycho runs out of ammo and leaves to get a sammich because, of course, they are in fear for their lives.

Yes, that was a big thing with the Obama Justice Department and Education Department.

If brown and black people were being disciplined and punished at a higher rate than white people, that was proof of racism.

So either punish brown and black people less, or white people more, in order to even things out.

This particular Cruz was not ethnically Hispanic at all, but the mere fact of his name would have figured into Hispanic statistics. So the authorities were hesitant about dealing with him.

You are misunderstanding the doctrine on how police departments are supposed to react to an active shooter. My agency had a policy that first on the scene were to immediately enter the building to engage the shooter. No waiting on backup. We did drills in our high school, too.

The doctrine was revised after Columbine. I have noticed that the current crop of officers seem to either lack the intestinal fortitude or have forgotten the lessons learned. This isn't the first time in recent memory where the cops are stooging around while people are being murdered by an active shooter. If the Broward County SO deputies had acted like the Coral Springs PD officers expected, Coral Springs PD Chief wouldn't have "communicated what we saw" to the command staff.

Maybe the local police don't, but the school had a "resource officer" living onsite whose job was dealing with campus crime, campus criminals. Add to that the multiple reports that kids made about the shooter, the schools knowledge of his threats to kill someone, and oh yeah, his years of dealing with this kid personally and meeting with his family, social services. etc.

I have no doubt as soon as he heard the first shot he had a really good idea who it might be.

418 Palp and Grump, I finally had a chance to handle a P-64 (one at the range shop). The infamous double-action pull is pretty bad, but not as bad as I expected. I understand you can re-spring the thing to lower that pull, but some say it makes the single-action trigger a hair-trigger.

My no-new-calibers policy remains in force, so no P-64 for me. Which is too bad. There are many of them in almost new condition, for low prices of course. Though I'm not sure about the C and R status (CA, so that's needed for a handgun).

And just on time, a guy I've bought from before just texted me that he's thinking of selling what was for a long while my only grail gun - the 2.5-inch barrel Model 19 (the blued Model 66). Have no blued revolvers, have a Model 66 4-inch. Not really in gun buying mode at the moment for many reasons.

Allow me to borrow one from ScoggDog.

Odds are fairly low of causing bystander casualties unless he has a hostage or they're just spraying fire blindly.

Any halfway decent LEO will be able to track down an assailant and throw a little suppressive fire at him. Just a couple rounds clanging around him likely changes the scenario immediately and puts the shooter on the defensive.

Lots of shit gets reported. Eyewitness accounts are... not reliable. How does the witness know they're not from the jurisdiction? Do they know all the uniforms? How do they know there's no multi-jurisdictional task force already set up -- most regions have disaster/mass-casualty plans already set up, after all.

Why is a lot of police at the home of a mass-murderer surprising?

I got a different take on this. Surprise, right ? Bear with me on this.

Firstly ... Gun Laws, like most everything else, SHOULD be written at the State Level. The notion of Incorporation - the Federal Power of enforcing The Bill of Rights - was not originally part of the deal. The Feds used Incorporation to get their nose in the tent.

So ... let's say Florida lets this go through - and 18 year olds can't buy a long-gun. I call that bullshit - but it's Florida's call. And if we find that the majority of Floridians are against such bullshit - but their State Government forced said bullshit upon them via Force of Arms - let me know. Because that would be cause for Revolution. And I'm not joking on that. Not. One. Bit.

However - if the majority of Floridians think 21 is the minimum age for a long-gun ... I don't care. Any more than I cared about the stupidity of New York's latest law ... or Connecticut's stupid fucking registration.

Why don't I care ? Not because of a "more than ten miles away" head in the sand attitude ... but because I vigorously defend Indiana's right to set gun laws in our own state. As it turns out - we really like our guns. Just as much as Texas. So Florida, New York, and Connecticut must set their own as well.

Florida fucks up Gun Laws enough ... and I'll avoid the state entirely. Just like I avoid Illinois, New York, California, and the rest. Hell - I won't vacation at Myrtle Beach because South Cackolacky won't honor my Concealed Carry Permit.

Just my two cents. Usually about two cents more than needed.

Pure speculation at this point.

564 I guess my issue with a States rights theory of gun control is that the 2A is very clear that rights shall not be infringed. By anyone. To me that, along with the 10A, makes me believe that gun control is not a state power at all.

I guess I figure that if the Framers thought states could ban guns on their own, they would not have bothered with the 2A at all.

571 reported on locally by eye witnesses in a single story. The massive amounts of police and law enforcement presence at that residence.

I'll search for that one as well.

The evidence is out there. It's shocking that we selectively believe what the lying Administrative State and MSM feeds us.

And, BTW, I'm not "selectively believing" the official line. I'm asking that inflammatory statements be backed up, and that people don't lose their minds either in despair or in a witchhunt.

2) The guilty party is admitting guilt. What would a trial do?

Investigations into *why* the tips were not followed, why he was never charged for past violence or involuntarily committed, why the officers did nothing are a different matter. None of those require the crime scene.
