J.J. Abrams, Who's Directing Episode 9 of Star Wars: Anyone Who Criticizes Star Wars Is Just "Threatened" By Women;
Joss Whedon No Longer Attached to "Batgirl" Project

First, on Joss Whedon. Most articles use vague wording like that he's "departed" the long-threatened Batgirl film; Grace Randolph says "fired."

She notes the three reasons he's likely "no longer attached to" or "fired from" Batgirl:

1, he got into fights with Kevin Feige over Age of Ultron, and that film disappointed.

2, he re-shot Zack Snyder's version of Justice League, and that film is, reportedly, a total mess and would probably have ended the DCEU if Wonder Woman had not been a big cushioning hit.

3, although Joss Whedon continues to play the Sensitive Male Feminist card, and thus come up as an obvious choice to direct a Grrrl power movie like Batgirl, his ex-wife's revelations about his use of the Sensitive Male Feminist card to cheat on her and score easy ****y sort of makes his association with a female-based property questionable.

You gotta know that if Batgirl were real, Joss Whedon would be inviting her up to his apartment to see his Chinese etchings and his coffin coffee table.

He's a one-trick dick and I'll be glad when he get shit out of the lower intestine of the film industry.

Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams is resorting to using the the public relations defense that worked so well forGhostbusters: If you don't like our stupid corporate art-by-committee cashgrab, you're misogynist and bigot.

"Their problem isn’t Star Wars, their problem is being threatened," Abrams told IndieWire when asked about a social media group that admitted to deliberately trying to bring down The Last Jedi‘s Rotten Tomatoes score.

"Star Wars is a big galaxy, and you can sort of find almost anything you want to in Star Wars. If you are someone who feels threatened by women and needs to lash out against them, you can probably find an enemy in Star Wars," Abrams added. "You can probably look at the first movie that George [Lucas] did [Star Wars: A New Hope] and say that Leia was too outspoken, or she was too tough. Anyone who wants to find a problem with anything can find the problem. The internet seems to be made for that."

I hope the Ghostbusters Defense works equally well for Disney's Star Wars IP.

The problem might have something to do with producer Kathleen Kennedy explicitly re-making Star Wars into a feminism-boosting fantasy. The Force is Female, you know.

As Gandhi once said: Fuck all these people.

I haven't seen but bits and pieces of any of the new movies.

I never even got around to watching all of the original series, although I've seen more than a few of them.

I particularly enjoyed the episode where Spock attempted to make some sort of grenade out of what looked like a can with dry ice in it.

I did read about some of the idea behind Star Trek and that seemed a lot more interesting to me than any of the shows. Especially the back story of the Vulcans. Turns out they embraced the whole logic thing because they're actually hyper-emotional beings, to the point where they were constantly at war with one another. They almost destroyed their entire planet because of it. Then the guy came along with the thing and they evolved. I'd rather see a movie about that back story than trannies in space or whatever they're planning now.

69 I think Annihilation was good; a female-centred movie without pandering (much) to SJW. they did make one character unnecessarily a lesbian (her love for poon had no bearing on the plot) and the racial mix was clear affirmative-action, but those nods to Current Year were so obviously intrusive they can be ignored.

What did make sense was why they sent in an all-female team. They'd sent in male teams and hardly anyone came back, so - yeah - some pointy haired boss was likely going to grab that straw eventually.

Also, that they're going into The Cronenberg - Giger Dimension means we're dealing with body horror here, and this has a resonance for women. See also, Alien and more so Aliens. And Splice.

98 This is not a movie gunfight and I don't know how great it is, but when my friend was 5 yrs old his dad got into a shoot-out with the po-po . He remembers his dad starting to curse wildly, then shoved him under a desk and went to the door with his gun.

After the cops took in the dad, they drove my friend the 5 year old home.

If that had occurred today instead of in the 1970s my bud's dad would have been well ventilated dog meat.

145 Actually the first Star Wars (episode 4? i get mixed up) kinda laid it on a bit about leia being super smarter than the guys and braver also.

That was one of the beginning movies that had that theme. If it hadn't been for the cool effects and space battles it would not have done as well. I think the next movie (Empire strikes back?) toned that shit down a bit which is why everyone likes it better than most of the others.

Not saying women are weak but the incessant drum beat of having gurrls out smart and out fight the boys all the time gets real old when you know that's false and not necessary for the story.

And since then boys have been pretty much taken some big hits along the way in school and in how much help they get compared to the girls.

Gee do you think that maybe that's why boys feel so little valued and that their thoughts and ways of doing things disdained and mocked that we have so many confused and angry boys running around shooting people and places up? And lately of trying to become girls so that they too can feel appreciated and wanted by society. A society that tells them in so many ways that men suck and aren't necessary so shut up and sit down you toxic boy you.

Its all in-your-face. It frequently doesn't make sense for the plot. Its all "diversity" and "inclusion" for their own sake, or the remaking of beloved IPs in some kind of feminist style.

Hollywood libertarians seem to only claim being libertarian so long as it suits them. Joe Rogan has a similar bent to him (though I actually like Joe and listen to his podcast all the time). He'll claim to be a libertarian, but also says he thinks Obama was a great president. Whenever he gets called out for it, he says, "I think he was great for what he represented."

Of course, he usually says this in the episodes where he's very stoned and not just his normal average everyday stoned, so I take his thought process with a grain of salt. Being a "lolbertarian" is about as close to conservative as you can get in Hollywood without being blackballed.

161 I actually got a feminist twat to make me a bet on the toxic effect of last jedi. That the multiple insults levelled to original trilogy fans would have no effect at all on viewership of Ranger Solo (I bet it wouldn't be first for its opening weekend).

That's no certainty, but I thought it was interesting. Solo is in theory supposed to appeal to original series fans, but those are the people Disney pissed off with its abominable treatment of Luke Skywalker, and men generally. So I think many of us are not going to show for Solo. The question is, will Disney's new, improved soviet justice warrior crowd show up when there's no obvious cause (neither GRRL POWER nor the nonsense surrounding Black Panther) driving it.

I got her to bet me an equal amount that I personally wouldn't see it for a year because she thinks I'm more addicted to star wars than my own self respect.

And she thinks she cannot possibly lose.

172 Quite frankly I'm of the opinion that this "group" that supposedly went after The Last Jedi is a false flag group, someone came up with as a way to explain away the negative reviews it has gotten, rather than it being the fact that the movie was a hot mess and people were on Mark Hamill's side that they treated Luke like shit and we wanted to see a full on Jedi Master Skywalker at least do something.

173 I liked Joss's stuff because it was pretty
libertarian. I mean Firefly they are flying around the galaxy thumbing

Then he goes

then go full socialist? In the original Captain America movie he
actually wanted to have Cap go full SJW. If he wouldn't have been able
to have resisted that impulse the MCU would have been aborted at birth.

Ironically enough, he needed to go full SJW/lefty-socialist in order to make a shedload of money.

When Whedon manages to lift his head up from the self-fellatio, he's staggeringly talented. It's merely that he very rarely does that now.

320 About ten years ago, Disney was doing a massive expansion at DisneyWorld's Magic Kingdom. A new VP came in, looked at the plans -- some already under construction -- and said, "All this princess stuff is nice, but what do you have for boys?"

The immediate reaction was to change one attraction to the Seven Dwarves Mine Train, because apparently boys like the dwarves from Snow White. Never mind that's still a princess property...

The longer-term reaction was buying Marvel and LucasArts.

Inexplicably, they let the man-hating SJWs turn the Marvel comics into their private playgrounds, destroying their fan base. The movies did well, though, although bizarre licensing restrictions kept them from doing much with Marvel in the parks.

Even worse, they couldn't keep idiots from getting hold of Star Wars and doing as bad a job as Lucas did with the prequels. "Oh, we'll just reshoot the original film, but with an expressionless chick as the star. Oh! And we'll kill off one of the most popular characters!" They tossed Finn and Black Stormtrooper in so "boys will identify with these characters", but Finn is lame and B.S. is whiny and spends most of his time being rescued.

Then the second movie... all the mystery set up in the first is deflated, the returning Big Star is thrown away, and it mostly just doesn't make sense.

But... The Disneyland Star Wars expansion is supposed to open this year (I think), WDW expansion next January, and you sales are cranking along, so they haven't completely destroyed themselves.

But if the Star Wars movies keep being playgrounds for Hollyweird personalities more interested in working out their fetishes than telling a good story, they'll crash. And not even a beautifully done themed resort that feels like you're in space will sell rooms after that.

There's usually a easily identified good and bad guy, and good wins, and that's that.

Favorite? Can't remember anything about it except this;

It was a cat and mouse in a warehouse, the actors didn't have unlimited ammo, and the setup and the fear was palpable. I remember for sure the one guy was so afraid to breathe for fear he'd be heard, so he held his breath.
Then you could hear his heartbeat.

Wish I could remember anything more than that.

Same with Target, they caved to SJWs, but again, not their customers and they've yet to recover.

Also, I've known sponsors to drop out bcz of these firestorms. But then a few months later they are back, after the fire has died down. Will it be the same with NRA...don't know.

But the less corporate political partnerships the better, it just goes 1000-1 against our side though. We need to be better about making these liberal organizations radioactive.

If anything, I could see corporate sponsors/partners being able to talk the NRA into a more "centrist" position much like Big Business does with Republicans and immigration. So it might be a good thing to just have an NRA with the only money coming in being from individuals committed to the 2nd Amendment.

342 Having more than just 1 or two SRO's on campus would mean that any shooter will have at least a few armed threats behind them or spread out thus increasing the threat and counterfire effectiveness.

There should also be some rethinking out they conduct fire/emergency evacuations. It seems that that teachers did not lead their students out of the classrooms. In an emergency the first person out of a classroom should be an adult so as to gauge the threat (fire, tornado, shooter whatever) and then guide the students accordingly.

When asshole hit the fire alarm teachers leaving the classroom would've been his first targets and the students would then know what was out side the door. Next there should be classes in the school drilling the kids on what to do in those cases.

Simply staying in the class room would've slowed the carnage down and if the doors could be locked from inside the number of dead would be a lot lower.

As to the SRO that stayed outside. He wasn't properly trained or vetted and why hasn't that asshole Sheriff resigned yet? He's the leader what happened is ALL his fault and if he had any honor he would be resigning along with the SRO that failed.

Let's have some calls for this jerk to be fired since he can't bring himself to do the right thing just like his deputy.

I don't think they've worn out their welcome. Its just that Hollywood has no clue how to handle them. They only have two modes, nostalgiafest to the point of ridiculousness, or shoehorning in their newest cause du jour. They're not interested in telling a good story which might actually grow the franchise. They just want to check their boxes and think it will be good. Make sure its got nostalgia, make sure it has enough women, make sure it has enough minorities. Story? Huh?

One of the things about Wyatt Earp that made him so deadly was the guy apparently just never panicked. He'd draw, take aim, fire and hit. Then do the same thing again until everyone else was dead.

Let's put it this way: they'll renew it for next year but the budget is going to be slashed. It was supposed to be the tentpole for their new streaming pay service, and it hasn't made a fraction of what they needed it to. I think only really hardcore Star Trek fans are watching.

409 I think Star Wars hits a spot for people because it was such a change from most everything else we'd seen for a while.

I know it's the first movie I ever walked out of feeling like my perceptions had changed somehow.

I was totally there in that galaxy fighting that war wherever the f**k it was.

And if you notice there wasn't a lot of blood and gore. Sure lots of action and guys falling down but no gratuitous violence.

It was like a big Saturday afternoon shootout between kids in the empty lot next door with lots of yelling and running and people shooting and getting shot and all sorts of fun.

Took all of us back to a more innocent time in our lives I think. Subconsciously?

The last 3 were received so badly because there weren't FUN.

No noble cause, no wisdom against sterile logic.

Ah well. We've all seen the elephant since then. We can't go back to our innocence.

With apologies to my Northern brethren, the guy is a yankee. I mean, his accent rivals that of Norm Abrams. It is grating to Southern ears. How the hell did this guy wind up as sheriff of a Florida county?

We have loads of half-backs here. I'm always amused when I ask them where they are from, and they say 'Florida'. I never let them off of the hook, I simply say, 'No, I mean originally'.

Having made a mess of NJ (or Nu Yawk), then despoiling FL, they are now here doing the same shit...and expecting us to be grateful.

That should have been shut down. I'm no SJW, but I applaud them. That software is seriously dangerous for society. It's not just about porn. And people should be able to own their own image and not have it manipulated for some sick fantasy. Hope they make it a crime. And not just for porn, but everything.

Ya know, your brain doesn't know the difference. Chris Rock did something recently about his porn addiction and how it really messed him up. Anyway, there is too much porn out there, and people watch too much of it, and as a woman I see the negative implications of it. May be the only thing I will ever agree with Paltrow about. Don't own a gun, have very little likelihood of ever owning one in NJ, but I feel like joining the NRA because of the shaming by the SJW's and the stupidity of Enterprise.
Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 23, 2018 05:23 PM

I'm starting to feel the same way. And I have never owned a gun, never even fired one. Have no intentions of even buying one. Yet I'm still considering joining the NRA, because of all of this crap.

It would have blown the lid off of everything and been a refreshingly different direction. So of course JJ didn't do it and let them play it safe. Sigh. Having crazy redhead take over ruling the empire would have been awesome.

The more I analyze The Last Jedi's faults the more disappointed I get.

483 A universal background check is one in which all sales of a firearm are tracked and the participants checked for their qualifications to transfer said firearm.

The only way to make it effective is to have a registry of ALL firearms in the country so that every firearm comes with an ownership history.

Once you have registration you are a EO from having confiscation.

Germany, Russia, Britain, Japan, Australia.

All enacted firearms registration before confiscation. And enforced it using spies and informers to rat people out for owning a firearm.

492 I don' think any sort of national gun registry is going to happen. That's like the NRA's biggest enemy and for good reason. That's always what happens before mass confiscation.

They tried to push through a registry when Obama was President after Newtown. In my opinion, it was a big reason why Republicans won in 2014 and 2016. Before, Democrats had sort of left gun control alone.

The good sheriff also compared himself to Don Shula, Abraham Lincoln, MLK, and Gandhi. Asked what he had done differently than any of those men.

He used to be a Republican before running for Sheriff. In South Florida corruption is bi-partisan.

500 Yeah, so the link in that article about a group "admittedly" trying to lower the RT score does not contain one word that I can find about any such thing.

Before I saw it, I thought that might be the case, that people were spamming the user reviews to lower the score.

Then I saw it. Liked it in real time, but then afterwards, it got worse over time until I started to look at some of the criticism and they were right on. Worst Star Wars story telling ever.

Now, people ARE spamming the RT score, AND I believe RT has altered their "like" algorithm to actually boost the score. Go read a couple pages of reviews. One star reviews are generally well thought out and rational. 5 star reviews are one line, stating "best move in the series". Also, they claim a review constitutes a "like" if it gets 3.5 or more stars. Go check. Virtually every page is 20-25% or less reviews that are 3.5 stars or better.

Nothing like a loaded question, based on a lie, to elicit pro-feminist idiocy from Abrams. The story and treatment of Skywalker in that film is near criminal. There are certainly SJW aspects of it that suck, but that is way down the list of criticisms of The Last Jedi. Maybe someone should ask him about all the setup he did in Force Awakens, and his thoughts on Rian Johnson pissing all over them.
