#HeToo: Lawsuit Alleges That California (Obviously) Lawmaker and Big #MeToo Booster Pressured Male Staffer to Play Spin the Bottle on Her Hotel Room Floor, Then, After He Complained, Fired Him For Insubordination

I ilke the detail about her having a beer tap in her office.

California state assembly member Cristina Garcia tried to ride the #MeToo bandwagon to a national spotlight -- until a former aide and an anonymous lobbyist came forward to accuse her of alcohol-driven sexual harassment. Garcia took a "voluntary" unpaid leave of absence after those allegations emerged, but a new report from Politico suggests that Garcia's problems with harassment and alcohol go deeper than first thought.

For instance, what’s up with the beer tap in her office?

The industry lobbyist said he was surprised last year when, during a late-morning policy meeting in Garcia’s Capitol office, the assemblywoman poured beer from a kegerator -- a refrigerator with a beer tap on top --located in her office.

She offered the brew in red Solo cups to the group of lobbyists, even though it was "sometime between 11 a.m. and noon... a little early," the lobbyist said.

...

However, the beer tap is the least of the problems. Marinucci's new report makes it clear that alcohol-soaked socializing and listening to her sexual conquests were part of the job requirements in her office. When one aide had the temerity to question whether that was appropriate for an elected official, the self-proclaimed #MeToo leader and chair of the Assembly Women’s Caucus fired him for insubordination...

Ricky Gervais, who originated the "David Brent" character of the office, spoke about bosses somewhat like this. He actually had a boss like David Brent, and, asked if working for him was a nightmare, said no, not at all: With a guy like that, you can do pretty much get away with murder. Maybe because they realize their own jobs are in peril, so they don't want to make waves with the staff. A boss who wastes all day at work is in precious little position to discipline employees, who may have a Blackmail File a foot thick on the boss.

So I guess what I'm saying is: Yeah, this guy shouldn't have been put in an awkward position, but maybe he played it wrong -- maybe play ball with this beer-soaked floozie a little and enjoy your three hour lunches and routine three day weekends.

On the other hand, maybe she was the worst of all possible worlds: an absolute trainwreck of a human being and a hypercritical martinet at the same time. Given that she seems like an entitled hypocritical archfeminist, yah, that seems likely.

(I realize using "hypercritical" and "hypocritical" so close on top of one another is a bit awkward but eh, it's Presidents Day. It's Thunderdome, baby.)

Aw thanks for asking Salty Dog. Hah, maybe I need advice, though that is always a scary proposition here.

I'm on the brink of breaking up with my BF of two years. He has wanted to get married in the worst way for at least a year and a half. But, bless his heart, he has no ambition at all, and drive is important to me. Works part time retail and struggles with job interviews, has a ton of debt. We've stayed together so long because he has so many other amazing qualities, plus I love his family. But I promised myself I wouldn't marry a man child, and he doesn't seem to want to grow out of that. I almost have my house paid off and am otherwise financially sound. I have the most assets of the two of us, and the most to lose financially if this ends in divorce. I think he'd be a good dad but I would have to be the main provider in the relationship, which I'm scared to do.

Trying to decide what to do. And if I finally pull the cord before it really becomes too painful for us both, the best way to do it. Advice is welcome!

190 But I promised myself I wouldn't marry a man child, and he doesn't seem
to want to grow out of that. I almost have my house paid off and am
otherwise financially sound. I have the most assets of the two of us,
and the most to lose financially if this ends in divorce. I think he'd
be a good dad but I would have to be the main provider in the
relationship, which I'm scared to do.
==========================

I would not marry a man who did not make providing for his family a priority. I think that shows a lack of character, and while he may have many other fine qualities, that one is pretty basic IMO

Nobody is perfect, present company included. But that's a pretty big thing that cannot be overlooked. And it's likely not something that he will change. Even if you think you can get him to. Which no offense is something that females seem to think they can do, is change a guy. When I asked my amazing bride of 20 plus years there was no doubt in my mind that there was nothing about her that was a deal breaker for me. I knew she was it. That's a big enough thing to walk away. Money is one of the biggest reasons for divorce. Follow your heart, but listen to your head.

Posted by: Sjg at February 20, 2018 08:11 PM (gDSJf)

I always set the median at 5, which is why I say Lena Dunham is a 5. She is plain and average-looking, and there are plenty of women much uglier than her.

Setting the median at 7 effectively says that a 5 or less is a 0. I would never have thought of using a 1-10 scale that way.

I think the binary scale is innovative and greatly simplifies matters.

Painful, but true. I adore his parents but I think they let him coast on life a little, compared to his siblings. Did not expect much out of him so did not push him like they should have. It frustrates me sometimes. It's tough to have so much in the relationship be right, yet the few things that are wrong are pretty crucial to a relationship lasting the long haul.

Thanks for listening everyone.

Have you told him of your concerns? If you haven't, maybe he thinks everything is OK -- we guys aren't attuned to non-verbal communication like you gals are. He might be set in his ways, but he needs to be told that you can't see being married to him if he continues his current behavior.

If you have already told him and a reasonable period of time has elapsed with no improvement, then break-off the relationship. I only have you side of the story, but sounds like resentment is building and that isn't going to make a healthy life together.

Hmmm, let's see. After 17 years of marriage...the stuff he does that bugs you now will still bug you many years from now, so make sure they are something you can live with (just as he'll need to tolerate your annoying habits/quirks). Also be sure this is someone you want to stick with when you go through those "or worse" phases of life, and you're committed to doing the same - and be prepared for sharing those times as well.

Uh, sorry to be negative, but we've had to deal with some doozies (like cancer, debilitating injury, sick kid) and you have to have someone who's on the same team. Always. Takes a lot of love and saying, "Yep, I promised to be here!"

430 You know how you never heard of something then you hear it one time then you can't stop hearing about it? I stumbled across the book Vindolanda about a Brit revolt against the Ancient Roman fort of Vindolanda which, I discovered, was/is a real place. Then last week I started Eagle In the Snow about a Roman trying to hold off German barbarians along the Rhine 200 years later and the first part of it is set in Vindolanda. Then today I peruse Drudge and see:

Roman boxing gloves unearthed during an excavation near Hadrian's Wall have gone on public display.

Experts at Vindolanda, near Hexham, in Northumberland, believe they are "probably the only known surviving examples from the Roman period".

It's a Vindolandalanche!

Posted by: Your Decidedly Devious Uncle Palpatine, 501st Kremlin Jewbot Gvardii at February 20, 2018 09:16 PM (fA1SL)

489 Real speak. Our natures make us terrible people. For example, men want a young fertile healthy woman. When they get married and have a kid and he is off at work 50 hours a week while she stays home with the kid, if she gets lazy and puts on 30 pounds or more while in her middle to late 20's, he will look for another young healthy fertile woman. Putting on 100 lbs or even 50 during a pregnancy is not healthy and is a modern phenomenon. So men when they see this and plus the lack of sex or sexual desire, chances are we will seek out a replacement who respects her own body and the work we as men put in to provide. It's a survival mechanism built in for him and his kids. Men want respect and a no drama household with all around healthy woman who is a good nurturing mother.

Just like female nature if a woman is bringing in more resources than the man, she will deem him unworthy and jump ship to a better provider of resources or protection if he gets sick or falls ill. It's a survival mechanism. Women want resources and safety.

I say this as dispassionately as possible. Because of social engineering (Marxism), these things are thrown out of sync. I don't see them improving either in this current climate of our society.

I'm not one to give advice on relationships, other than to make certain that you're happy and content. No relationship is perfect, but if there's a problem that's big enough to cause you pause, then it needs to be addressed, IMO. If you can't see it resolved in a while, then move on. Your happiness is your prime responsibility.

Here, have this large grain of salt, too.

502 LizLem,

A guy can always make more money but you cannot make him nice or a good person. He has charm to spare, sure, but his money habits suck and those will suck the life out of your relationship. I would recommend a class called Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey. It will not only give him the tools to get his financial self in order, but it will also be an avenue to growth. If he’s not capable of that growth he just can’t handle adulthood. That’s the relationship you want and need. It’s concerning he only works part time.
It’s tough, but if he doesn’t pull up he’ll have to go because he’s already wearing you down.

539 Where things get really hairy is the hardwired instinct for men to dominate their environment for resources to secure for their mother of their children. Now feminism has allowed women to compete with men for these same resources while at the same time allowing their nature to cause men to spend resources and energy just to attatract and keep them around for the sake of their kids.

The environment for competition for resources has always been dominated by men against each other and women using men as tools for these resources. Now they are doing the competing and using men as tools for resources.

It's fucking everything up. It's called having your cake and eating it too. We gave Western Civilization a great run, but we failed to recognize history and repeated it.

Oh well. Do right by God and protect your kids.

Real speak. Our natures make us terrible people. For example, men want a
young fertile healthy woman. When they get married and have a kid and
he is off at work 50 hours a week while she stays home with the kid, if
she gets lazy and puts on 30 pounds or more while in her middle to late
20's, he will look for another young healthy fertile woman. Putting on
100 lbs or even 50 during a pregnancy is not healthy and is a modern
phenomenon. So men when they see this and plus the lack of sex or sexual
desire, chances are we will seek out a replacement who respects her own
body and the work we as men put in to provide. It's a survival
mechanism built in for him and his kids. Men want respect and a no drama
household with all around healthy woman who is a good nurturing mother.

Just like female nature if a woman is bringing in more resources
than the man, she will deem him unworthy and jump ship to a better
provider of resources or protection if he gets sick or falls ill. It's a
survival mechanism. Women want resources and safety.

I say this as dispassionately as possible. Because of social
engineering (Marxism), these things are thrown out of sync. I don't see
them improving either in this current climate of our society.

It's not my experiences. It's literally everybody's for 1000's of years. God of the Bible talks about male and female nature. I'm not out of sync with this. I'm not out of sync with observable reality and verifiable facts about the state of relationships in our country and across the world.

Im not even pissed or angry about this wisdom and knowledge being hidden from me and other men and women my age.

When something is predictable as what I have stated about imbalances in relationships, then it's universal and the outliers are those who are strong enough to fight off their hard wired male and female natures, which I hold with the highest respect btw. I wish more would I do that. I can literally predict how men and women will behave in a realtionship given a set of variables.

My generation is fucked and so are the younger generations. It's not getting better unless we start taking lots of rights and privileges away from men and women, who both don't want to give them up.

595 Watching Sargon of Akkad's Black Panther review, the praise for this movie is ridiculously over-the-top.

Actors lie when they're promoting a film, but when they get to go political at the same time, it's absolutely laughable.

The actors promoting the movie are no less ludicrous (and ultimately insincere) than Jennifer Lawrence claiming she's taking the next year off to save the world. None of it is sincere.

The funniest part is that its all a sham to line the pockets of lily-white, amoral DisneyCorp.

628 Where things get really hairy is the hardwired instinct for men to dominate their environment for resources to secure for their mother of their children.

634 Back when I was a defense attorney, one of my clients was a regular married guy with kids who got picked up with a small amount of meth. I got him a deal so he could avoid felony conviction if he stayed out of trouble. He blew that when he was picked up again with a small amount so now he has two felony convictions. Then he comes back as the wheel man in a drug debt murder. All this in 12 or 15 months.

He told me about meth. When you're high, you feel confident with plenty of energy. (I wish I felt that way.) But while you're all confident and energetic, your life is going to hell so when you come down you can either deal with the wreckage of your life or take another hit. Further, if you have an oz of dope in your pocket, you've got cash, you've got chicks, and you've got status.

640 Andrew Weissmann is Mueller's main legal hit man. He's the guy who sent Yates a congratulory e-mail for refusing to defend Trump's travel EO.

What I just learned is that he was the prosecutor who blew up Arthur Andersen in the Enron case. At the end, all Weissmann had was that an internal lawyer had OK'd the decision to delete some e-mails before anything like a subpoena had issued. The judge let it go to the jury with instructions that they jurors could convict the accounting firm regardless of whether its employees had knowingly violated the law. The jury convicted, and because it made AA a convicted felon it was put out of business, even though it still had the right to appeal. Cold comfort that SCOTUS later overturned 9-0

Weissmann is in good company with Jimmy Drama, who pursued dubious charges of tampering with evidence against Martha Stewart and Frank Quattrone.

Given what we're about to learn from the DOJ OIG report about how Jimmy handled Team Hillary's wholesale destruction of evidence, what should be his appropriate punishment?

It's not my experiences. It's literally everybody's
for 1000's of years. God of the Bible talks about male and female
nature. I'm not out of sync with this. I'm not out of sync with
observable reality and verifiable facts about the state of relationships
in our country and across the world.

Im not even pissed or angry about this wisdom and knowledge being hidden from me and other men and women my age.

When something is predictable as what I have stated about imbalances
in relationships, then it's universal and the outliers are those who
are strong enough to fight off their hard wired male and female natures,
which I hold with the highest respect btw. I wish more would I do that.
I can literally predict how men and women will behave in a
realtionship given a set of variables.

My generation is fucked and so are the younger generations. It's
not getting better unless we start taking lots of rights and privileges
away from men and women, who both don't want to give them up.
