NYT/Survey Monkey Poll: Nation Now Supports Republican Tax Reform Law

Support is at 51% overall (up from 37% in December), 89% among Republicans and 19% among Democrats.Trump recently touted a poll from last week or so, showing Republicans now with a three point lead
in the congressional midterms.
Trump was likely referring to a poll earlier this month from the pollster McLaughlin & Associates that found Democrats ahead on a generic ballot for U.S. Congress by 45 percent compared to 42 percent.Analysts believe the Republicans' increasing odds of holding the House are mostly due to a single Russian troll calling himself Johnny Eaglestallion who posts confusing memes of Jesus cutting corporate tax rates with a lightsaber.

The only reason this mid-term, and Trump first term, aren't in historic territory is because the congressional GOP (mostly Senate) has simply decided to continue with their idiotic, useless, self-preservation strategy of zero politics, minimal accountability, and complete indifference to national interest.
It's clear now that the Dems will junk the filibuster in the Senate the nanosecond they get power to do so. GOP should have eliminated that months ago, and passed all the key items in Trump's agenda. Repeal O-care, end "sanctuary" lawlessness, other things - there would be no oxygen left for the Dems in November.

I had my taxes done last Friday. (Up until a couple years ago I had always done it myself, but I'm intimidated by "electronic filing" so now I have to hire a friendly local independent tax guy to actually do the electronic filing for me.)
After he completed my taxes, he said, "Just as a point of comparison, I also calculated what your taxes would be under the new tax law that comes into effect next year. And...it looks like you would have saved $1200!"
I asked if he did this for ALL his clients. He said "Yes." Which strikes me as totally hilarious as this is in a completely anti-Trump liberal area, and everyone else he tells is probably deeply conflicted by the news that Trump is gonna make them personally richer.
I think he does this just to troll all his clients!

My guess, 245.00 My buddy years ago was a product rep for G Loomis and others. We did an Alaskan fishing trip and they gave us a bunch of free shit to test. The only deal was we had to rate all the equipment. Some of the higher end stuff rated worse than some of the lower end and visa versa. Many times you do get what you pay for. But sometimes you're paying for a brand name that was slapped on some lesser quality. I hate Amazon but I do like the reviews of stuff.

That seems a tad expensive! I feel like a rod at half that price would be fine (unless your going after large marine gamefish). All the gear one needs to catch a surfperch like me

Had a dolt on Facebook saying the Founders never intended the second Amendment for Military Weapons...
So I pointed out the Militia Act... which the Founders passed, which said all Able Bodied Men between certain ages were part of the Militia, and were EXPECTED to furnish their own Musket and Ammunition... ie, the dominant Military fire arm of that period...
Much like the Semi Auto Rifle is the dominant Military small arm, of today...

I missed the price theory discussion, but I can talk about fly rods.
There are all sorts of variants in the way people like to cast a fly line: tip flex, mid flex, soft action, stiff action. It's a mix of what feels right to you.
Fly rod makers spend a lot of time talking about graphite modulus, whatever that means, but getting just the right feel is an art. I got a tour of the TampersandT facility from their rod designer. It's not a factory, it's a series of rooms in which artisans wrap graphite around mandrels and bake them in an oven. Then they attach fancy hardware.
Mine are old and cost $600 or so each, with a lifetime warranty (still a service charge when they break). They're $900 these days.
Fly rods are expensive for the same reason that golf clubs are expensive. In both cases, the expense can not make up for a lack of skill. A scratch golfer can beat you with a $100 set of used clubs. A good fly caster can make a $50 rod work, but there's a pleasure in using a really well made rod.

Guessing it has to do with the gun control movement abroad in places like England. Just about the only legal reason to carry a gun there is for hunting so civilian guns must conform to that purpose.
Media/Politicians recite what they've heard from their "enlightened" euro friends and think guns are supposed to be for hunting.
