Florida Governor Rick Scott: Christopher Wray Must Resign Over FBI's Catastrophic Failure

Silly rabbit -- there's no accountability in the federal government or in the "elite" managerial class.

The FBI's failure to take action against this killer is unacceptable. The FBI has admitted that they were contacted last month by a person who called to inform them of Cruz's 'desire to kill people,' and 'the potential of him conducting a school shooting.'

Seventeen innocent people are dead and acknowledging a mistake isn't going to cut it. An apology will never bring these 17 Floridians back to life or comfort the families who are in pain. The families will spend a lifetime wondering how this could happen, and an apology will never give them the answers they desperately need.

We constantly promote 'see something, say something,' and a courageous person did just that to the FBI. And the FBI failed to act. 'See something, say something' is an incredibly important tool and people must have confidence in the follow through from law enforcement. The FBI Director needs to resign.

Oh, and here's a good question:

More on this slaughter that was permitted to happen due to bureaucratic incompetence:

The FBI released the details in a statement conceding their employees did not follow protocol to follow up on this tip. "Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life," the statement said. "The information then should have been forwarded to the FBI Miami Field Office, where appropriate investigative steps would have been taken."

The tip was not forwarded to Miami, and "no further investigation" was conducted into Cruz.

Oh, and here's more: This is bad. The FBI claimed they didn't have any justification to seek the IP address of the Nikolas Cruz who wrote "I intend to be a professional school shooter," because... there were two other people calling themselves Nikolas Cruz?

By the way, remember how I said the fake conservatives are going to start seeking out and finding new ways to agree with liberals, now that they might have to seek alternate avenues of employment? And how I said that would start with gun control?

It begins.

Be on the lookout for a shift in the stated reasons for why NeverTrumpers are Better Than You. It had been, "Because we're the most super-conservativey hrrdcore super-cons."

It will now begin morphing into "Because we're nuanced thinkers willing to set aside ideological dogmas to find real solutions."

Either way, though: They're Better Than You. The reasons may change, but the conclusion remains as fixed as the North Star.

We had a friend in ATL who was a forensic psychiatrist who was asked to investigate and interview a ******* creep who was "adopting" and torturing to death little kittens. He photographed and videotaped his work.

For some reason I will NEVER understand, our friend said this psycho would never be of harm to humans, even though the guy had begun photographing teenaged girls hanging out around his apartment complex swimming pool.

School shootings are tops among the worst things than can happen when someone purchases a gun, shouldn't the FIBBIES put down their phones and actually check out someone threatening to do just that? We are not paying them to Tweet, text their luvs, or whatever, but, we are paying them to make us safe and secure.

Face it, unless they had sufficient probable cause to search his house and computer what would have happened? What if nothing?

And think about, if you could be arrested and your life overturned because someone claims you did this or that or said this or that? Are we really any better off?

And although in this instance it was the good thing to do, will it always be the right thing to do?

I suppose I just lit a flame to my self but I just can't help wondering why we trust these folks to get it right all the time cause if they're wrong even just once they've put someone to effective death with only the word of another. Look ... to be honest, people write shit like that all the time. It really doesn't mean anything. It's more likely to be taken as a joke than anything else.

No, the issue with Cruz might come in with his psychiatrist (did he have one) and whether he was another one who had been on some regiment of school-shooter psychiatric meds. There were, evidently, people in Cruz's actual physical circle who found him more than just suspicious.

But some stupid comment ... I cannot go with the idea that that could really be looked at as meaningful in any way. If every instance of something like that were investigated it would be ... just crazy.

No. Forget the internet comment stuff. Look closer to home and reality for the signs that Cruz was insane (as so many people seem to be saying he clearly was).

91 The FBI: "we were all investigating TED Cruz. Man, this is really embarrassing."

That's funny (and even damn funny) but it's not entirely ha ha funny.

Given what we know about the IC/DNC corruption, does anyone believe Trump was the only one with a smear dossier? I'm not talking opposition research. That's legitimate if not sometimes unseemly. I mean bona fide fictional smearing.

And that kind of smear would've worked on any other candidate but Trump this round. I'm not sure we will ever really appreciate just how miraculous and historic Trump's and the Deplorables' win really was.

Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel at February 16, 2018 06:04 PM (H8S+R)

92 50 Thing is, even if they had gone, knocked on his door, asked their questions and walked away, the only difference would've been the date it happened.

Don't care that it was well meaning. We're into the "if it saves one life" territory and it will only get worse.

Wray resigning would not be nearly enough. Everyone from the person who got the tip, his/her direct supervisor, the top honcho for the tipline system, needs to also be fired if there is a desire to restore faith in the FBI.

Personally I'm kind of leaning towards allowing mob justice for things like this shooting. Let the mob tear the perps and their families who did nothing to prevent them from preying on the rest of the community to pieces. Let that happen a few times and see if that doesn't reduce future incidents. Maybe it just ends up with violence begets violence, but lately protecting evil scum from vigilante mobs doesn't seem to be working real well either.

I do believe that a guy like that coach should've been armed and not standing there using his body as a shield. He was qualified and I'm sure willing to use a firearm but because of GUN FREE ZONE LAWS he wasn't and couldn't if he wanted to remain employed.

You know, the reason people get SWATted so easily is because we have utterly ridiculous rules regarding what the police and FBI can accept as "evidence". Friggin phoney phone calls are enough to trigger the fully-armed raiding of total innocents. That sort of stuff is absolutely crazy.

Yes, this Cruz guy is a nut. It's pretty clear that he was a nut in person and that he scared the living shit out of a ton of people in his immediate area. That is for the local cops to investigate. The FBI has no business in this.

And, as I stated before, the number one question I have is whether this nut was under psychiatric care and what medications he was prescribed. Pretty much every mass shooter of the last 20 years has been on these meds - anti-anxieties, anti-depressants or anti-psychotics - and I want to know which ones were his toxic brew. And whether his doctors (assuming, again he had some sort of psychiatric or psychological care) did anything other than give this kid pre-shooting drugs until he blew.

But this push for the FBI to come down on any lame internet comment or even to be moved to action against an individual on heresay or, worse, anonymous tales ... that sort of stuff I am so deadset against it's hard to express it.

You don't.

The 4th amendment isn't about you or me or criminals or nutjobs, it's about government.

The Bill of Rights is designed to put hurdles in the way of government.

So, for me, the answer is that the 4th amendment (and 1st, 2nd, even 3rd, etc. etc.) is not optional, to be waived when seemingly convenient.

This is the society the Left wants. No values, No family, No church, No morality, and state responsible for control of citizens.

People have organized themselves for millennia with layers of control to make sure the worst among us do not do harm to innocents. The Catholic Church is imperfect, so the Left deems the whole organization evil. The military is imperfect, so that organization is deemed evil. Some parents are evil, so that institution has to go.

But somehow they think bigger government will be virtuous. Maybe they are really just trying to avoid any personal responsibility.

Case in point:

There's a lunatic child molester running wild on the streets of Berkeley, and no matter HOW MANY times he gets IDed and arrested, the "justice system" always ends up ending him to the local county "mental hospital," where EVERY SINGLE TIME he get released ina few days and is back out on the street to commit more sex crimes.

To date, in just the last years this guy has:

-- Masturbated in front of toddlers at a kiddie park THREE SEPARATE TIMES
-- Taken off his clothes in front of children and wagged his dick around MULTIPLE TIMES
-- Tried to put some unknown substance in the mouths of unattended children
-- Threatened to rape a woman who confronted him
-- And generally just spent every day of his miserable existence attempted to commit pedophilia and rape.

So what happened two days ago?

After a prior arrest for an attempted rape, he got sent to the nuthouse, was deemed "safe" for release, got let out, skipped his court date (as he always does, tried to climb into a stranger's house, then went to the YWCA and ask if they "had any Girl Scouts" for him:

http://www.berkeleyside.com/2018/02/14/ berkeley-police-turner-back-jail-skipping-court-seeking-girl-scouts-ywca/

(remove space from URL)

"Oh, but mental illness is so quaint and harmless! They're not criminals, they just need help!"

Thanks to the liberal "justice system" around here, they literally cannot keep this guys off the streets, no matter how many times he offends. His "insanity" is a free ticket out of jail," and then the leftist dogooders in the psychiatric industry release him back out to the public. over and over and over. A merry-go-round of rape and molestation.

I guarantee he will be back out in the street again later this month, and the cycle will repeat.

227 For 4th Amendment purposes, posting in a public place with a caller that you made a credible threat might suffice for a search warrant but would certainly allow the police to come to your door and question you about it. You have no privacy to anything that you say to others or put out in public fora. And yes, the FBI screwed up. The standard for a warrant is probable cause, the standard for talking with you is police discretion. You don't have to talk to them but they have the right to locate you and discuss your behavior with you. They can even come to your house, despite no trespassing signs, and discuss matters with you.

The magic words are am I free to go and I want my lawyer or simply do not answer the door. At that point, the police either have to release you or charge you generally. However, the police can take your general unfriendliness into account to scrutinize you in public and further investigate you as long the information is in the public domain or available through subpoena to a third party.

In general, using the internet to make fake/true threats even as "jokes", SWAT people, or various other things such as breaking into other people's emails, Facebook, etc. will bring police attention to your door. And depending on those interactions, may bring an arrest to you.

Don't know about rifles, but pistols are severely restricted. During that nasty shopping mall terror attack in Nairobi a few years back, turns out that some of the folks who fought back against the terrorists were armed civilians. But the only way they could be armed with handguns was because they were registered competitive shooters. There were photos of some of them who had thrown on their shooting vests with their gun club and shooting awards when they went in to the mall, in an attempt to keep from being shot by the police and army when they came in later.

The US gun blogs made a point of reporting a bunch of this back then, but I hadn't heard much about it since.

This despite being the home of the best of European art, music, science, philosophy, social thought, etc at the time. This is increasingly our story, it seems.

I promise you ... that kind of behavior in SouthEast Indiana ... on private property ... gets you killed. And no prosecution - but the State will send folks out to drag away the mess.

And that ... SportsFans ... is the difference. That's what we're all talking around instead of talking about.

The SchoolShooter didn't do what he did for a "lack" of policing. He did what he did PRECISELY because police safeguarded his ass. The fucking kid fired on other folks livestock. He got in more fights than multiple school systems could stand to count.

He wasn't some "suddenly snapped" nut job. He had a clear background of more and more violent behavior.

But the Citizenry knew better than to go out and kick his ass. Why was that ?

267 ThePrimordialOrderedPair: "But this push for the FBI to come down on any lame internet comment or even to be moved to action against an individual on heresay or, worse, anonymous tales ... that sort of stuff I am so deadset against it's hard to express it."

No question. It's a righteous Right.

But in this particular case, notwithstanding the brilliance of hindsight, there was apparently a pretty significant trail of evidence of anti-social behavior that should've been acted upon. The thing that sways me most predominantly is the numerous visits by local police. I mean that's off the charts resource usage of public funds and personnel to manage that household. Combine that with the online activity and that's more than a red flag.

So the big picture overview is the State intervenes in a perfunctory manner and then that's the end of it. What restraints are imposed to delay actual action are, possibly, limitless, but there's a societal breakdown at this level wherein known bad actors retain a dangerous level of freedom given the circumstances.

I don't know the answers, but, yes, reflexively contemporaneous violation of the 4th is unacceptable. But this seems like a case where there would've been good cause.

Yeah, but it's a high bar to clear.

I see a shrink. I do a self-assessment every few months, and due to a quirk in how I parsed one question (it asked if I had physically hurt anybody in the last week - I said yes because I'd caused a minor car wreck), I got 'red flagged.' I was able to easily talk my way out of it - and this is an assessment that's voluntary.

Now, I'm not a danger to others. I shouldn't be committed. I'm just saying, if you're clever, it's very easy to avoid getting yourself locked up.

A friend of mine teaches high school.

One of his students stood up in class, pointed and shouted "I will kill you!" to him.

That student is now in juvey and will continue to be for quite a while.

But, it took some doing.

When I was in HS late 60s, early 70's, just a smart mouth would get you slammed around by a shop or gym teacher. I think it's a huge thing missing today. Knowing someone will crack you if you don't act right had a way of creating law and order. I won't even mention the nuns in catechism.

well, on the advice of some commenters here I skimmed through altered carbon. one fucked up show. full frontal nudity, not that I care, but unbelievable violence and sexual violence. One scene had some married couple engage in a fight to the death for entertainment, so they could get new skins.

236 The truth is that the local police have no absolute duty to protect anyone.

But gun control is all about state duty to protect. You see the disconnect? They can't have it both ways - either a society is free,.... or it isn't. Anything else is transitory.

What the Left argues is that we need to limit individual rights in order to protect, but they are taking responsibility from the individual, and so it is left to whom? The state disowns it. Things degrade and the people demand that their rights be limited further.

In the end, the state ends up with all the rights and none of the responsibility. Tyranny.

Posted by: Monk at February 16, 2018 06:47 PM (g4lFK)

331 I am a prof in a private Christian college. A few years ago after a shooting on some kids in an Amish school, the Board of our college met and directed the administration to encourage every faculty member and employee that has a conceal carry permit to carry a firearm on campus (concealed). They then sent out a press release to the public indicating that everyone from janitors to teachers were armed and ready to defend themselves and others. Just to let everyone know.

That's a common sense gun policy.

345 Kinda sorta veering OT, but late in the thread:

People yell back and forth about mental health, but it's a subject that is going to be increasingly important (because, generally, as a civilization, despite setbacks, we're progressing toward greater and greater personal power due to technology and education).

Unfortunately, our understanding of the subject and ability is worse than our barely-better-than-ancient-Greek level of physical medicine (yes we have many more medicines and procedures, but our processes are sloppy and our tools are still primitive compared to our ideas).

So, basically, sooner or later we're going to have to go all Space Program on that problem, hopefully before someone slips the net and does to a whole city what these periodic nutters do to a school or business.

It's either that or harden literally everything, which, civil liberties aside, would just be *exhausting*.

What that *means* is devoting serious, well-funded, thousands-of-serious-and-thoughtful-people resources to a systematic effort to help borderline people obtain self-control and to supervise over-the-border people.

And that is going to require us to grow our economy substantially, because we are apparently incapable of getting spending under control.

1) Mine the asteroid belt (sounds crazy but we're metaphorical inches away).
2) Massive moon-shot level of testing of genetic editing.
3) Massive moon-shot level of research into mental illness, both organic and functional.

*All* of this is dangerous. Each one can go terribly wrong. Sitting back and not doing them is just more dangerous.

Until it becomes inconvenient of course.
At which time we will get another "additional investigation" incident.
In the meantime, any non-Democrats who criticize the FBI will be condemned for doing it as part of Trump's attempt to demonize the FBI because they are "exposing" Trump's "collusion".
