The closest sailboat has a kink in the hull. Notice the bow-on aspect forward and then the stern sticking out like a target angle of 310 degrees.

The sails are OK for wing a wing before the wind, with the wind dead aft. Stopping is the issue. Going to need fast work on the sails or a good anchor.

This country - this civilization - is rotten to the core, corrupt, godless and nihilistic. It's a scarred, bleak moonscape of death and desolation.

^^^ MPPP post

My response

No; It's not. Everyday on here we see people caring for each other and offering to help. Everyday on here we read about people caring for their families and friends and even people they don't know and asking for prayer.Almost everyday people posts links of stories about people in other parts of the country caring for each others or for animals Everyday we have a nice artwork to look at (Well, I wouldn't call"Man on an ottoman "nice" but Lucian Freud was skilled)

A number of people are having a hard time right now. Perhaps they should take one of two days a week from the board and read good literature, or read the Bible or other inspiring works or do things they enjoy.

Just look at who they call in these situations. They call the men with guns.

They are afraid of guns so they believe you should be afraid of them, too. Don't don't trust themselves with them because they know they're irrational and emotional and might kill anyone without provocation, and they believe that's how everyone else is, too. But they like guns. They just want to call someone to act as their proxy with the guns (and, interestingly, their "betters," too).

57 I'm not a big fan of Pointilist style but this one is appealing. It is not overcrowded so it's possible to focus on the boats and structures that punctuate the early sunset. I like the use of golden yellow of late day in the sky and reflected in the calm water. Having experienced such scenes, it is easy to imagine the reds and purples that will develop as sunset deepens. A very pleasant painting.

I can't imagine the patience it takes to paint in this style.

331 "The last thing I saw was a report that he is in rehab from side effects from his cancer treatment and that was in December. There are multiple people who said he was going to return to DC in early January but that obviously didn't happen."

I still have plenty of family and friends in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Official word - "oh yeah, he's just recovering, he'll be fine soon." Unofficial word - NO ONE is allowed to see him except close family and medical staff, who are sworn to secrecy. Any texts or communique's coming out with his name on it are written by staff, who are trying to keep up the fiction that he's still aware of his surroundings - he probably isn't.

The rumors say that he is *never* going back to Washington, and that at best he has only a few weeks left. No one will say he's in hospice, since it's private, very expensive, and everyone there is banned from speaking to anyone about it - but that's what it is. His mind may be too far deteriorated to even muster up the will to resign.

and no the Az Governor doesn't have authority to do anything about it. Bottom line, Az only has one Senator at the moment, Jeff Flake. Pathetic.

.
.
.Which brings up back full circle because no one can actually "do" anything to help him. They can't have him committed because we no longer have those facilities. The best they can do is a three day hold at a hospital with psych facilities and those are risky with all of the Civil Rights Activist Lawyers out there.

No doctor would take this kid as a patient after the first interview because they know what will happen and they don't want their practice to be associated with what they know is going to be the inevitable result.

The school kicked him out multiple times and there are no other alternatives because we no longer have a juvenile lock up program.

This is going to keep happening until we as a Society address these issues and that is never going to happen because no one wants to make those hard decisions.

Of course, there doesn't appear to be much wind, so maybe not. Very odd composition though. Also, the perspective used on the dock seems a little off too. Some happy some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever so the story goes

They sang to me this song of hope

94 Grammie, there is an implement called a "stippling brush" that does that, but even though it does a regular pattern they can lay down a wide footprint. I think you need masking to keep inside the lines. I suppose if your OCD is high you can do it dot by dot.

Kris - would the artist use a brush to do a work like this, or some other implement?
Posted by: grammie winger - God Loves You, Don't Be Stupid, at February 16, 2018 09:42 AM (lwiT4)

I've heard of some artists using brushes and others using other tools. I think it depends on the look you're going for... maybe? I've only seen a couple in real life and Pointillism is one style I haven't studied in depth. I'd have to defer to the artists here as to what works best.

My father was a very strict disciplinarian. "Fear of God" is an understatement. However, looking back, we had a great life growing up. We walked the line for sure, but it wasn't abusive in my mind. Some would have seen it that way at times.

My parents did the best they could given their backgrounds, resources and the stress that I know I was able to inflict. I cherish them and I can't imagine a world without them, though I know it's fast approaching. Thank God they're in relatively good health and are still very able and self-sufficient.

79 Speaking of anti-depressants, we found out Wednesday that the Zoloft that Pooky takes is probably making the bipolar features of his PTSD worse, so he'll be getting off of that as soon as his psychiatrist puts in the paperwork. Among many terrible decisions, the concept that a state cannot set term limits, especially in the senate, is among the worst.

The most important part of being a parent is actually being there. If you aren't there and subcontract out your presense to someone else or even not "get in their business" if you are there, you get problems.

You know what's easy? Letting them not bother you. Letting them dress, go out with, eat, watch, play, go to any place they want because "they deserve it" which is really "I don't want to have the fight."

Then, as a mother when the adolescent male starts hearing "blah, blah, blah" from you, you have no adult male to loom large.

FBI put a whole 5 minutes of effort into it, said "nope can't find him" and promptly forgot all about it. They had a president to sandbag, after all.

Uncertain and alone,
Confused and frightened

all who are seeking a safe and secure home
and all who are comfortably home in your presence,
Come to me now and make yourself known to me
as I seek to quiet the noise of the world,
the anxiety of my heart and mind,
and the call of unfinished tasks.
So that I may recognize and welcome your voice.
embrace your presence,
understand your call,
and invite you to change me more and more,
into that wonderful image you have of me
as your faithful, loving,
and obedient child.

Amen.

I have become much more circumspect over online comments, and I'm afraid of the ban hammer here.

The problem with new laws is simple. The democrats don't obey the law, even law they write. Instead, they use the law to suppress political opposition.

Just for an example, we could make a bipartisan agreement with the democrats; we the people give up our guns if the VIPs in Washingtion, and other politicians everywhere give up their armed security details and make law enforcement surrender their weapons because so many innocent civilians and their dogs get shot. If no one has guns, no one gets shot, right?

It worked for nukes. Universal disarmament. Peace at last. Peace in our time. Peace with honor. Who could be against that?

"What I would urge my colleagues is very
simple, ask yourselves what you told the voters before election day,"
Sen. Cruz said on the Senate floor. "Let your conduct after Election Day
match what you told the voters. The Democrats, campaigned as the party
of amnesty so they're being true to their promises. They promised
amnesty as their priority and they're being true. But for Republicans,
we promised something different. We promised to stand with the working
men and women, the union members, the steel workers - the men and women
with the calluses on their hands. And I urge every one of us to listen
to the working men and women, and to respect the rule of law, and to
vote against these misguided proposals."

Apparently, to foment coups, judging by recent events.

And having Bronco Bama staff it with Progs who willfully disobey the law and their oaths virtually insured it.

Speaking of, can you fire an FBI agent for clearly violating his or her oath? Alone? Or do they have to do something else in addition, like break a policy they've been duly informed of?

The problem with pointillism is that it's based on a false premise. For the color interaction to work for human viewing, those contrasting colors must be of a certain size--a size certainly larger than a point; otherwise, the technique actually dulls color effects. That Seurat and a few others could achieve the results they did is nothing short of amazing. They achieved beauty in spite of themselves.

417 this killer was an adult, not a "kid", even if he acted like a child, and had not been trained up in the way he should go.

We can't say the FBI ignored the warnings because they actually (on some level) think shootings serve their grander globalist police state agenda. We can't say they ignored direct warnings from Russia about the Boston bombers.

But there is a pattern under Obama especially, where DC led intervention seemed to be on the wrong side, like with Trayvon, Brown in Ferguson, Freddie the drug dealer in Baltimore ... all used by "DC deep state" to PROMOTE riot and mayhem.

Sacrifice for country can be required from our military at times, but to undermine our country, evil ones would (gladly?) sacrifice our children. With the pedophile island types in high places, it is incumbent on us to stop them, and reinstate common sense law and order.

422 It's very difficult to commit someone to a mental facility, even if there are hospitals available. My brother in law was a violent nut, but smart. He learned early in life to manipulate examining doctors to prevent forced commitment and, if it ever got close, he would voluntarily commit himself. One voluntarily done, he would wait a few days and then un-commit himself. By then the latest hubub had died over and he could resume drinking and causing mayhem.

Finally, he died (the accumulated damage from too many police beatings, drug-caused organ damage and alcoholism). Problem solved, except for the enduring sadness from a promising life wasted. Thankfully, he never shot anyone.

Maybe we need to have a national conversation about commitment laws and mental health.

Yeah. That's what makes it so heartbreaking. There are people out there who really, truly need help or else need to be separated from society. There is a Price for Freedom.... one the US Military has willingly paid....

But the Price of Freedom ALSO hits civilians.

You can be Free, or you can be SAFE... you can never be both.

Sounds Cold... but the PRICE for our Freedom, is at times, going to be murdered Children....

But you know what.... even when we give up our Freedom... give up our ability to defend ourselves (which saves MANY more lives per year than guns take)... there will still be murdered children...

Because Evil cares not about what laws it breaks.

Yup, and yet the MSM and Hollywood are behaving as if this is unprecedented, a *major* achievement.

As with workplace sexual harassment, it's vexing that our current culture has to pretend to achieve or discover things that were achieved or discovered/addressed decades ago.

You would think the prevalence of Women and Enthnic Studies graduates would mean this was more well-known, but it seems to have spawned the opposite: thousand of SJW's dying to fight for the cause, and finding it mostly already settled, they resort to re-inventing, re-fighting old grievances.

The Republicans gained that seat and several others.

Note the AntiFa tactic... they let their Females do the confrontation.... actually start pushing and hitting someone... thinking there will never be a reprisal....

Some of us are past that... I will never hit a Lady, but no Lady would ever lay hands on me without invitation...

And once out of the Lady subset... they are declaring themselves my Equal in all things... and thus will get treated like I would a man.

They are starting to see the results of the breaking down of Gender roles that THEY say they want... that THEY fight for...

That is where I get really irritated. Both of my grandmothers were sole breadwinners in their families. Anita Hill was a nonstarter for one of them who worked as a higher-level drone in Dept of Agriculture (and very attractive). She just couldn't get why Hill would stay around or not say anything because in her day the rudeness of abuser supposedly in the dark ages of the 40s-50s-60s would have been career suicide for that abuser.

Seems more like a breakdown of civility to me.

so, they're selling full auto ARs that are already loaded?

'...sold the AR-15 automatic rifle to Cruz in February 2017, lawyer Stuart Kaplan said Thursday. He added that the Morrisons told him that Cruz passed a federal background check, returned for the unaltered weapon a week after it was purchased and did not buy additional ammunition other than the magazine which came in the box containing the weapon."

Posted by: AltonJackson at February 16, 2018 11:30 AM (ZQfW9)

519 I can attest that this is common. I know a mentally ill person that still has weapons. He scares me because he is crazy and smart. He likes, fire, dynamite and I know for a fact he has a fully auto-weapon and a 12 gauge.

522 "Comey is a walking scandal. He'll never practice law again. He can only be hired as a clownish pundit. "

maybe, but he served a good 20 years covering up Clinton crime. Several times big felonious behavior was investigated by "serious competent" Comey ... but just when it seemed time to indict ... "just not quite enough evidence, no serious prosecutor would indict" type BS.

Hence the routine for Clinton crime waves ... fake "serious investigation" that covered up, ignored, buried, wiped out ... delay deal delay ... then dirty cop Comey (or Mueller, others) "no solid evidence".

This is your deep state on drugs ... well, selling drugs, weapons, children, organs, H-1Bs to infiltrators ... etc.

That's funny, but I don't recall anyone having that problem and I don't know why. Rest assured, all the Southern Moms would've noticed that immediately. It was a pride thing.

I did it for a while myself and never had a problem either. The Daughter of Satan (the ex-) refused to do it, which should've been my first warning sign, but I was young and stoopid...

1. Strain your grease. Food particles make it go bad faster
2. Use it. If you use it, it won't be there long enough to go rancid (which is how it will go bad). 2 containers if you fry bacon regularly. A collecting one and an in use one.

Bacon fat and the "currently in use" stick of butter stay on the kitchen counter. Butter in a butter dish and bacon fat in old jelly mason jars.
