Bruce Ohr Concealed His Wife's FusionGPS Payments From Ethics Officials; May Have Caused His Demotion When Discovered

How dare you question the integrity of these criminals.

Justice Department official Bruce Ohr did not disclose Fusion GPS was paying his wife

Ohr was demoted from his post after the information emerged

Willfully falsifying government ethics documents can result in jail time

Bruce Ohr, the Department of Justice official who brought opposition research on President Donald Trump to the FBI, did not disclose that Fusion GPS, which performed that research at the Democratic National Committee's behest, was paying his wife, and did not obtain a conflict of interest waiver from his superiors at the Justice Department, documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation show.

The omission may explain why Ohr was demoted from his post as associate deputy attorney general after the relationship between Fusion GPS and his wife emerged and Fusion founder Glenn Simpson acknowledged meeting with Ohr. Willfully falsifying government ethics forms can carry a penalty of jail time, if convicted.

...

For 2014 and 2015, Bruce Ohr disclosed on ethics forms that his wife was an "independent contractor" earning consulting fees. In 2016, she added a new employer who paid her a "salary," but listed it vaguely as "cyberthreat analyst," and did not say the name of the company.

The form requires the disclosure of the name of the spouse's employer -- but Bruce Ohr forgot to add that information.\

8 they say it is not the crime that gets you, it is the cover-up. But it can be both.

Martha Stewart was jailed on cover-up of not a crime. Flynn was entrapped. But Ohr and a dozen others were lame in cover-up because they were sure the would have Hillary to hide everything, just as they had Obama hiding crimes (of which he was fully aware)

52 It sounds like that article JackStraw linked to the other day was pretty accurate about while there being no Congressional questioning of these people, there is someone obviously doing a lot of questioning and investigating.

And I think it plays into my observation that the investigations of the DoJ and the FBI have to be done *first* before any indictments of political players outside of those groups. It would be useless and stupid to use a DoJ and an FBI run by people like Ohr and Strozk to go after and prosecute an Obama Administration person or a Hillary Clinton follower.

asked her if he could turn his assignment in late. She replied:

Sure, you can turn it in late. You'll get a zero, but you can turn it in late.

One of the best pieces of advice my dad ever pounded into my idiot skull was to learn how to say:

"I'm sorry I ________ and I don't have an excuse."

Dads, cops, teachers, employers, and all the rest would rather hear that than hear a bunch of BS.

122 Here's the deal. You and I know right from wrong. We have a moral compass that dictates our choices and informs our ethics. We know malfeasance when we see it. Lying, cheating and scamming are right out.

Most folks don't have that. They have been raised with situational ethics, not right and wrong, but what's good for me right now. They think they are above it all, doing the right thing, because it seems to be enriching them. They don't judge their behavior wrong because it is their behavior, and they know themselves to be good.

It leads to all sorts of bullshit and nonsense. But that's why you get all the blowback about being Christian, or Jewish for that matter, and having the Big 10 to work with, not to mention the 7 Deadlies. That stuff is icky and outdated, and makes me feel bad, you see?

And then they get into government, where the benes are great and the opportunities magnificent. Pride, money, and a bunch of like-minded lemmings lead to the fall.

We are disgusted, but they are mystified when caught out. What on earth did they do wrong?

Again, if the article JackStraw linked to the other day in which it was speculated there was a lot of investigating going on (obviously - we keep reading the leaks of it) and that the people who were demoted are spilling the beans is correct, then you will get that cascade. How much loyalty these people show to each other and their conspiracy and how much regard they have for their own hide is where it breaks.

And again, as I have noted, you have to finish the DOJ and FBI investigations first before arresting or indicting anyone - or use those agencies for anything that would point at the Obama Administration and Hillary Clinton and her followers. But I suppose it is for more satisfying to make sleepy jokes than acknowledge the actual things you have to do first.

On behalf of The Hordlings who have The Knack (as documented by Scott Adams in Dilbert), may I point out that the efficiency could be improved by loading him, strapped to a thermonuclear weapon, onto a rocket, launching it into the cold vastness of space away from the planet (we're not quite intergalactic yet), and then exploding it.

198 We have some 190 whistleblower cases, only four really made it to any deeper level of investigation.

That is according to this George Webb guy, that sounds informed, not sure who he advocates for.

But the Deep State still seems to run 75% of the system, and can misdirect, delay, counterattack, obstruct ... all funded by US. (and they probably represent oligarchs who also protect them)

There are other layers as one goes deeper, into the companies that effectively run the government by contract, and they seem to have extraordinary power. Serco Group seems to be one of those, and of course Google has tentacles with NSA/CIA God knows who else.

this is that Webb guy saying we have a lot of whistleblower intel that has been buried. Maybe the OIG is "on it" ... we can only hope they are not also infiltrated or compromised by threat and blackmail, which seems to be prevalent.

Because of the public perception of a biased Judicial System?

What? You can't clean house AND find someone to investigate and Prosecute at the same time?

Many of these people broke the law because they believed the Law would not hold them accountable... that needs to be fixed ASAP...

Because, as we see... illegal activities continue.

And for the record? They slow walked most of the Hillary stuff long enough that she is not past the Statute of Limitations... so Justice delayed CAN BE Justice denied.

Right now it seems that most just want to run out here and slap the bracelts on without actually doing the work needed to secure a conviction. I would say that Trump is our last, best hope for restoring honest government before things get so far gone that death squads and the summary execution of thousands are the only options left. (ie, Sulla, Cromwell, and to a much lesser extent, Pinochet)

For those not up on what kind of guy Sulla was - a modern day Sulla would take every Democrat congressman and Senator, cut their heads off, and roll them down the Capitol steps with crowds watching. That's what he did when he took over Rome.

and I admit a small dark part of me would enjoy seeing that.

Thus, encouraging all others to join up with the protected class or prepare to be punished. Its this that has to stop. Otherwise you only reinforce the rationale for becoming a progressive, because even when your party is out of power, you STILL DON'T GET PUNISHED.

========

Seriously. When you let that slide . . . you're pretty much
telling everyone who comes after, "meh, do what you want. . , unless
your Joe the Plumber. " Actions speak louder than words and the
actions present a clear and obvious disconnect between the law and its
enforcement when it comes to the protected classes.

Thus, encouraging all others to join up with the protected class or
prepare to be punished. Its this that has to stop. Otherwise you only
reinforce the rationale for becoming a progressive, because even when
your party is out of power, you STILL DON'T GET PUNISHED.

Mentally ill people with violent ideation or paranoia get a preliminary or default ban on weapons ownership, but with due process review and sunsets.

People with serious developmental disorders should have to establish a threshold ability to govern themselves and their anti-social impulses.

This kid was sick. He liked to kill small animals, he was promising violence, he brought a machete to school with the intention of putting his enemies at the wrong end of it. He made bizarre and disturbing statements with regularity that alarmed all around him. He harassed neighbors. Police came to his house to deal with his outbursts and attacks.

He is not a person who should have been allowed to purchase weapons.

A law stating that when someone, anyone, goes on social media (or any other outlet) and states "I would like to be a professional school shooter", they be arrested immediately, given no bail, and sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in Federal Prison, no parole, for threatening the Public Safety.

With a special stipulation that such a statement, in light of recent public events, shall be considered to be, as a matter of defined law, a "clear and present danger" exempting it from any 1st amendment protections.

Seems everyone in the school did what they could, even expelling him.

And a member of the public called the FBI about some posts he saw.

Maybe if more people had called the FBI it would have gotten more attention. Squeaky wheel, oil. Or called the police. I do think this is true. And since I've made calls and seen things happen, I know it is true. My guess is like anything, one call doesn't mean a lot...but a lot of them...much better chance. There are limited resources and unlimited needs and calls.

More and more I am getting frustrated that people post, and scream on twitter, but don't do anything on the front end...it is everyone else's responsibility. That's how you get govt. in charge...b/c people don't use their democratic rights. That has become more important with a useless media and a culture war.

With anti-fa that was true too. Until a few people finally did a petition and shut it down. Citizens did that. I should have thought of that. We here should have.

Who was it who said people get the govt. they deserve? A forefather?

He's right.

Then we could rush Federal agents to the scene of these future events and stop them before they happened. Of course that breaks the laws of causality because how can you 'see' a future event that doesn't happen.

But never mind that. What we need are fortune tellers in every school district who, with proper federal training and supervision, can focus on security and pre-position agents at the scene. This would be easy to do because these precogs wouldn't see some obscure and difficult to understand future event. What they would see would be Professionals, highly skilled and trained Professionals stopping an event that was about to happen.

We would, of course, need a new Federal Agency for Temporal Viewing and Translating of Possible Future Events.

385 Sarah Carter has a piece that also talks about "concealing." And this is a doozy.

Mueller's 'Pit Bull' Andrew Weissmann Busted for Withholding Evidence in Previous Case

"Reprehensible and subject, perhaps, to appropriate disciplinary measures"

- In 1997 Andrew Weissmann was officially reprimanded by a judge in the Eastern District of New York for withholding evidence.

- Weissmann was reported to the Department of Justice Inspector General and Senate Judiciary Committee for alleged "corrupt legal practices."

- A formal letter from U.S. Attorney Eastern District of New York Zachary Carter requested the judge to remove Weissman's name, according to documents.

Civil rights and Criminal Defense Attorney David Schoen said Weissmann needs to be investigated for alleged past misconduct in court cases.

very long piece, but very detailed and good reporting, here is finale:

The judge who handled many of the cases ruled that the jury should be told and many of the "defendants were found not guilty. So, for DOJ to claim this was cumulative or material to the defense is really unfair and misleading," stated Schoen.

"The FBI had to redo their whole guidelines on the use of informants over this," said Schoen. "Weissmann and crew did not just withhold evidence. They actively allowed a mafia killer to remain on the street killing."

This new information on Weissmann's alleged past conduct may shed light on National Review author and attorney Andrew McCarthy's recent article revealing why the new judge in Michael T. Flynn's case Judge Emmet G. Sullivan filed "an order directing Mueller to provide Flynn with any evidence in the special counsel's possession that is favorable to Flynn, whether on the issue of guilt or sentencing."

Some speculate the LV shooter sold guns, he had a bunch, must have been a known entity to LE. In any case, another talking point for confiscation.

Schools left as gun free zones, even in the face of a threatening shooter ... no effective plan. Sure, they would used the famous Obama "stand down" to keep that nut armed. I guess there was one armed official at the school, but he was circumvented.

yeah, I have no doubt the left (at certain levels) LOVES these shootings in gun free zones, innocent victims ... they ALWAYS go right to confiscation, never to protecting kids as well as we protect banks ... by arming UP, not down.

411 Meltdown and Spectre have been at the top of the cloud computing and enterprise data center priority list ever since Intel and a group of tech companies disclosed that design flaws dating back 20 years could expose almost all the computers on the planet to so-called side-channel vulnerabilities. Intel and operating system vendors have released several patches to mitigate the effects of those vulnerabilities, but there's little doubt sophisticated malicious hackers are racing to find new ways to take advantage of the design flaws.

In response, Intel is changing its bug bounty program from invitation-only to a public program, and offering up to $250,000 for researchers who report new side-channel vulnerabilities to the chip giant, it said in a blog post Wednesday. The company will also increase the amount it awards for the discovery (and confidential reporting) of general security vulnerabilities to $100,000.

412 "Because after a decade of Obama and 3 of the Clintons we're impatient."

I know people are impatient, but after some point you have to stop ranting, admit that this has to be done correctly, and then figure out what are the correct steps.

Right now I am seeing an investigation of the DoJ and the FBI that is turning up one very nice political conspiracy. And this political conspiracy involves the Clinton campaign, foreign intelligence agencies, the DoJ, the FBI, and now is leaking into the Obama White House. With all of that it seems to me very rational to go and do things as completely as possible, the same way an investigation of organized crime is done.

I do not know everything that is going, no more than anyone else here. What I do now is that going off and indulging my emotions would be the wrong thing to do.

Sarah Carter has a piece that also talks about "concealing." And this is a doozy.

- Weissmann was reported to the Department of Justice Inspector
General and Senate Judiciary Committee for alleged "corrupt legal
practices."

- A formal letter from U.S. Attorney Eastern District of New York
Zachary Carter requested the judge to remove Weissman's name, according
to documents.

Civil rights and Criminal Defense Attorney David Schoen said
Weissmann needs to be investigated for alleged past misconduct in court
cases.

very long piece, but very detailed and good reporting, here is finale:

The judge who handled many of the cases ruled that the jury
should be told and many of the "defendants were found not guilty. So,
for DOJ to claim this was cumulative or material to the defense is
really unfair and misleading," stated Schoen.

"The FBI had to redo their whole guidelines on the use of informants over this," said Schoen. "Weissmann and crew did not just withhold evidence. They actively allowed a mafia killer to remain on the street killing."

This new information on Weissmann's alleged past conduct may shed
light on National Review author and attorney Andrew McCarthy's recent
article revealing why the new judge in Michael T. Flynn's case Judge
Emmet G. Sullivan filed "an order directing Mueller to provide Flynn
with any evidence in the special counsel's possession that is favorable
to Flynn, whether on the issue of guilt or sentencing."

I am overly sensitive to the problems presented by treating those who are outside the norms as a mentally ill threat.

That being said, if all the reporting about this guy is accurate, then if this guy cannot be involuntarily committed, who can be?

I'm not asking a rhetorical question there. If a person with that history and pattern of both words and actions cannot be involuntarily committed then there is no longer any procedure to place those who are a danger to others in some kind of secured environment prior to a tragedy.

As I yammered away this morning, all the choices with involuntary commitment are choosing between the least worst option. There are no good options. But if this guy can't be put away? Scrap it and start over again.

It's a blessing that the woman that adopted the shooter passed away just before this heinous act. As someone who's had some experience in these issues - involuntary commitment today is IMPOSSIBLE until AFTER the person in question has committed a serious criminal offense. And that offense probably has to be a felony. Talk to police, they'll all tell you - "call us back when as soon as he does something."

444 Couple of "extreme" points you have to bring out and beat on once in a while.

My right to defend myself, my property, my family -- to go armed -- is absolute. It does not depend on statistics of what results in the most orderly society, or the lowest crime rate. If a million people a year died because of some misapplication of my rights -- and I'll stipulate that, all rights taken together, this may be an accurate number -- I would still have that right, and no one would be doing right to deprive me of it.

Some kids got shot. That is a shame, and I feel sorry for them. I will not be immolating myself or turning in my vote, my house, my car, or my guns because of that. Regardless of your statistical report.

460 Another, related problem to waiting until a crime is committed before moving against someone who is mentally ill - our local retired sheriff is a good speaker, talks to civic groups a lot. He ran the local county jail for 30 years, from the late 70's into the 2000's, and he says (often) that the local jail population changed dramatically over that time, making it incredibly more difficult to operate a jail. When he started out, they had their share of crazies, but not that many. He said that by the time he retired, 75% of the inmates at the county jail were on some kind of mandatory psychotropic medication, and it forced jailors to be a kind of combo security guard/nurse, which they weren't trained for or suited for. He said it was happening because society now let the real schizo's and psychotics wander the streets until they did something criminal, and then just used the jail to house them because no one else wanted to fool with them. And there was no funding to send them anywhere.

and of course, in jail, they just get worse and worse.

so that's mental health care in most of the US today.

Seems like everyone did what they knew to do. The only thing that may have shifted things would have been more people calling the authorities, instead of just a few people doing so. And maybe some calls to the media, anonymously. Oh, and of course a non-corrupt FBI.

The guns should have been removed from him. And maybe other monitoring put in place. This guy was not an "if", he was a "when". And since we can't commit, then we need other options.

When fake news was just getting off the ground, I, for one, spent a day or two posting on web forums, (Insty, here) wherever the liberal term "fake news" was the topic, that we *have* to pick-off that phrase like a badly thrown pass. And it seemed particularly apt for some grievously flawed MSM articles that were current at the time.

Not saying I was the first. But people like me were stressing co-opting that phrase as soon as it gained steam. And it was pretty obvious with the press bubbling up a call for some official oversight of web sites, that it was nascent lefty censorship.

As I yammered away this morning, all the choices with involuntary commitment are choosing between the least worst option. There are no good options. But if this guy can't be put away? Scrap it and start over again.

We need to have banners proclaiming the ACLU's body count.

We also do not have a homeless problem so much as the mentally ill are left to fend for themselves on the street. Yes, addiction, but higher functioning addicts for the most part maintain some form of shelter.

467 I know people are impatient, but after some point you have to stop
ranting, admit that this has to be done correctly, and then figure out
what are the correct steps.

I'm splainin not arguing.
Logically I agree with you and JackStraw.
Emotionally I want such a crater made of the Democrat Party that it's actually safe to straighten out the Republican Party.
I spent 1/2 hour today and yesterday breaking clearing ice out of the street sewer grates, if the water isn't moving the swamp ain't draining.

Stop ranting - the only time the Horde stops ranting is when a hamster dies.
Although this rant is probably behind willow already.

470 Frankly the local DA should have the ability to do something about people making violent gun threats on social media.

"I'm going to be a professional school shooter" may be a joke, but its the kind of thing that should get you hauled in front of judge and if your class mates are saying yep we think he'd do that then a court ordered psych eval. with guns impounded until eval and disposition.

471 Fox Radio News now reporting FL gunman was part of a white nationalist group.

How many of the group's members are undercover FBI/BATF agents or informants?

Except for the fire alarm drill day. When everyone is standing outside in groups. Which is what happened . . .

The law doesn't protect you. It never has. It never will. It is

punishment for after the crime. We need armed good guys. Period.

This
concept is lost on way too many people. As is the fact that LEO is NOT
there to protect you. They are not obligated to protect you. Ever.
Period.

We are literally in a civil war with the deep state. By that I mean the horde. Also, what ace was doing on twitter and the rest of you as well. People come here and read the comments. It spreads. Its an information war.

475 " There's a thing about cascade failures, though - they get out of control and break in ways that no one could rationally predict.

What's happening in the FBI now feels like the early stages of cascade failure.

480 Did he get reduced in grade for his actions? That would be significant if it really happened but I'll bet he just got a lateral into the do-nothing group. Sorta like the place in NYC where teachers who should be fired but cannot be because of union rules.
