Unhinged Conspiracy Theorists: Leftwing Professor Lawrence Tribe Floats Theory that a Carter Page Associate Was Murdered in an Engineered Plane Crash, Then Deletes His Noxious Tweet

A better class of people, with a better class of lunatic conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy theories like this are basically prayers to pagan demons. Lawrence Tribe doesn't so much believe this is true as he's wishing to a dark and forgotten Stone Age god of hate to make it true.

A Harvard law professor and member of the anti-Trump “Resistance” floated the false rumor Monday that a source for the unverified Steele dossier was killed in a plane crash in Russia over the weekend.

Laurence Tribe claimed on Twitter that Sergei Millian, a Belarus-born businessman alleged to be a dossier source, was killed Sunday when a Saratov Airlines plane crashed near Moscow. All 71 passengers died.

"Among those killed in the tragic plane crash yesterday: Sergei Millian, a Papadopoulis friend who had emailed Kushner and is said to be behind one of the most salacious claims in the dossier on Trump's involvement with Russia," wrote Tribe, who has been described as Barack Obama's legal mentor from the former president's days at Harvard Law School.

"Probably just coincidence," Tribe added sarcastically, suggesting that the plane crash was an attempt to quiet a dossier source.

Plot twist, by the way: Sergei Millian was not in fact aboard the plane at all, and is therefore not dead.

Obama's former mentor has now deleted his tweet -- but almost certainly only because of the gross factual error in the claim, not the lunatic conspiracy theory it contained.

Just curious: if Sergei Millian's murder-by-airplane death would have proven the Trump RUSSIA storyline, does Sergei Millian's non-death-by-airplane prove that it's bunk?

After all: No one seems interested in killing this guy. Therefore, he's not important. Therefore, there's nothing there.

Right?

Wait, wut? How come he didn't hook up Obongo with a prestigious appellate or even Supreme Court clerkship? One phone call from Tribe - with that kind of recommendation - probably would have done it.

No. Instead, he lets Obongo go off to Sidley Austin in Chicago, where he fetches danishes for the litigators and maybe handles traffic court appearances.

So ... what is the election eve equivalent of a "litigation-spurred opinion?"

125 O/T ... Bandersnatch,

If you are still around. Comment 40 on yesterday's book thread has the sources I've been using for that colonial era fly fishing gear. Everything from a jig to braid horse hair or linen thread to make a fishing line, which types of wood to splice together, and how, to make a rod (or just use a cane pole), some of the fly patterns that were common and what they became today, how to form a hook from the straight pins they had, etc. Cool stuff.

If I put together an outfit appropriate for 1750, it will probably be a cane pole, braided linen line, a new commercial hook and a few basic flies like the wooly worm and red and partridge wet fly using silk thread. Those two flies haven't changed much in a few hundred years.

Just FYI.

250 regarding the roll-pin in a blind hole issue:

No guarantees this works, but if you have a drift or punch small enough to fit inside the ID of the roll pin, you MIGHT (maybe. just maybe) be able to pack the rollpin with bearing grease, hammer the drift down the grease-packed center of the pin with a good sharp hit, and the the pressure transmitting through the grease might push the roll-pin up.

If the pin is in really tight, like an interference fit, or if your drift is too small, you're basically just going to make a mess.

But i've used that technique in other situations.

449 Remember when the Marines ( the higher ups) said there would be no change to the Physical Endurance test for Officer Candidates in order to pass women?

In a slight change to the grueling initial stage of the 13-week Infantry Officer Course, Marines will no longer be required to pass the Combat Endurance Test to move on.

The Corps has come under criticism for what some have claimed to be unnecessarily high standards to graduate from the course. To date, only one unnamed female Marine has successfully completed the entire course.

But Marine officials at Training Command contend the changes are not an effort to water down standards.

????

Not watered down? LIke not having to pass is not watering it down? WTF?

450 As bad as this all is, it would probably be really bad to hear what our betters say about us hillbillies at their DC cocktail parties.

452 And I would love to hang out but my wife used up all the power on my tablet today and it is going to die soon.

Hey Skip, they've got this little cord Thingamabob that you can plug into the wall socket to, you know, recharge your battery and still be able to use the tablet. Just sayin'.

453 I think the reason people gravitate to the left is that you can be really stupid but accepted as long as you tow the party line. Any of us would be permanently banned from polite company if we publicly made fools of ourselves like these idiots do almost daily. But, they're on the right (left) side, so nothing to see here.

454 Doddering Tribe's name is deeply offensive. Time for a change.

455 176 Sad. I had formerly thought Lawrence Tribe, like Alan Dershowitz, was one of the few Liberals With Integrity. I recall him admitting that Roe v. Wade was utterly contrived without a serious Constitutional leg to stand on.

Laurence Tribe is racist.
Not, "rhetorically disarm those disagreeable" racist, but actual "I don't want black kids near me" racist.

456 a good conspiracy theory:

loretta fuddy signs off on barack hussein obamas long form birth certificate

months later she dies in a plane crash

*she was the only one on board that died*

everybody dies i get it

everybody dies after doing something yes

but not everybody dies in a plane crash

and not everybody is loretta fuddy

and almost NO airplanes crash

it is said that if you want to die in a plane crash you would have to take one flight a day for like 50,000 years

its like 100 thousand trillion to one

and were supposed to just believe that she died in an accident

and seth rich was just a random mugging

and andrew breitbart really died of natural causes on the day of his biggest expose of the most powerful man on the planet

and antonin scalia just "slipped away"

slipped away...SLIPPED AWAY?!?!?!
