A lobbyist who served as a back channel between Christopher Steele and Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner served as legal counsel to Russia's foreign minister and lobbied on behalf of a Russian oligarch with ties to Paul Manafort. Documents filed with the Department of Justice show that Adam Waldman of Endeavor Law Firm, served as counsel to Sergey Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, from 2010 until last year. He has also worked for Oleg Deripaska, a billionaire aluminum magnate with close ties to Putin, since 2009.It took virtually no time at all for Mark Warner to receive the support of his political ally, Marco Rubio.
Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio leapt to Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner’s defense Thursday night after a new report revealed Warner exchanged text messages with a top lobbyist for a Russian oligarch. Warner texted back and forth with lobbyist Adam Waldman in an effort to contact former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Trump-Russia dossier, Fox News reports. Waldman previously represented Russian billionaire Oleg V. Deripaska, who is known to be close to Putin. Warner appears to have tried to keep secret his contacts with the lobbyist, saying in one text he would "rather not have a paper trail." Despite Warner's apparent effort to keep the conversations secret, Rubio defended the Democratic senator as being transparent with the Senate Intelligence Committee. "Sen. Warner fully disclosed this to the committee four months ago," Rubio wrote on Twitter, adding that the material has "had zero impact on our work."But, as Chuck Ross points out, if Warner admitted this four months ago, that would be seven months after he'd sought this RUSSIAN collusion.

No, its not. Alan Dershowitz was saying the same thing, Its a political problem not a legal one.
I mean if money changed hands or something like that it would be a bribe (like the Clintons did)
But if its just two people that want the same thing for ideological reasons, than no.
If Trump did something like knowingly request illegal, Russian state sponsored activity like hacking against Hillary or the DNC, that would obviously have legal consequences, but nobody really believes that happened.
They just needed something to make Trump's win seem illegitimate and hope him and his people made some stupid moves and get tangled in process crimes.

The Free Beacon was not involved in any way with the Steele Dossier. They hired Fusion GPS well before that and had ended their association with them before Steele was hired and Hilldog and the DNC paid for that dossier to be fabricated. I am assuming the FB under that association when they noticed that Fusion GPS oozed slime and did not care about the truth.

I have seen no evidence of any credibility that there was no connection. I have seen nothing from the Beacon explaining why they ended their association. They avoid practically everything they can about the Fusion GPS story and the dossiers. 1. Rubio is probably tied in with the dossier in some way because Singer/Washington Beacon (Bill Kristol son in law) were the original Fusion GPS funders. It has always been rumored that Rick Wilson of Rubio super pac fame (who will not go away and promotes this Russia BS daily) started the whole dossier. Then Rubio dropped out.Fusion GPS was already illegally spying on the Trump camp when Rogers shut them down in April 2016 so when Hillary hired them, they might have already had a start on the dossier, plan B.

Donna/others - as I said above. GOP is taking a very risky approach to the mid-terms here. Staking everything on no economic hiccups, continued/worsening Dem insanity, and continuing scandal spectacle, moving into IG report Tsar Bomba and actual indictments/plea deals.
In other words - no reason to vote *for* them, just the "OMG look at the other side!" fear campaign.
With appropriations now gone for a long time, very unlikely Congress/Trump will accomplish anything of note prior to November. Very unlikely. And the Dems "resistance"/obstructionism will now be much easier - not really much of a lever to use against them.
Mitch says he's bringing up an immigration bill with wide open amendment process soon. This might be a chance to sweat vulnerable Dems on key votes. So there may be some potential there. But the GOP has not really engaged in serious politics for so long, I'm skeptical.
The "leadership" cannot conceive of any way to win except by default - oh, and by-now comically mendacious misrepresentation to their rube voters in many districts and states (and that description is richly deserved, at this point).

In fairness, the Brits and French had lied like hell to draw the United States into WWI and then screwed the pooch to set the stage for the Nazis and 70 years of communism. The foreign allies weren't trusted for good reason even though the danger was imminent and undeniable.

I don't see anyone doing anything to change the status quo of the Uni-party. We have the establishment and deep state aligned against the people. Hurling headlong toward socialism & open borders bcz it means they will have even more power. Trump has stalled their progress, but not stopped it.
The only way that changes is fresh blood who hark back to the days of real Republican values. Governance that wants to enforce laws and borders. People who are patriotic vs. our current scum. I see no movement on that. No reason to believe things will change, even with FBI indictments.
Am I being debbie downer, or realism ruth. I don't know.

but he's taken the number of those that will be let in from 800,000 to 1.6 mill I think?
He just voted for a budget bill that adds 13% to our debt and there isn't that much of a col increase that much.
And that budget doesn't include the Wall.
He's nominated people who have opposing views to what he himself has said is his to positions that will be important to stop illegal immigrants. Like the new head of DHS who has stated that she's all for Dreamers.
I didn't mark them all down so I can't repeat them here but he's done some things that seem to be counter to what he claims he wants to see done. The main one for me is this latest budget bill and no funds for a Wall.
Like I said I hope he's doing a hat trick and we just can't see it. I really do.

Couple things...
1. Dems seem hard pressed to excuse Russian collusion, as long as RUSSIAN Oligarchs close to PUTIN...tell them what they want to hear regarding Trump. Without producing any evidence to support their claims.
2."Reasonable" voices in the GOP, really don't like Trump all that much, and think that by enabling his attackers they bolster their bonafides as media darlings of the right.

The things I do are nowhere near powerful enough to turn around a broken system. I can feel potent in my small community, it doesn't change the reality of our troubled and corrupt Republic.
