FaceBook, Google Institute #MeToo Code of Conduct: If You Ask a Woman Out More Than Once, You're a Sexual Harasser

From a WSJ article, behind a paywall:

On one hand, it is true that "harassment" is defined as repeated unwanted contacts, so limiting the contact to "one time" eliminates that.

On the other hand, not all contact is "unwanted," even if the answer to the question about a date is "No." Sometimes a woman is flattered by it, sometimes the time isn't right but she's not closing any doors. Sometimes she's undecided.

A pretty good way to signal that repeated contact is harassment is to explicitly say, "I said no, and do not ask me any more. Further requests will be taken as harassing."

And the trouble with that is that women seem to be saying they don't like that kind of straight-up, here-is-the-rule confrontation, and want things to be more ambiguous and for men to take more subtle, non-confrontational hints.

Which is fine.

But simultaneously, men are not particularly good at taking hints, and actually want clear and unambiguous answers (like even: "and don't ask again" -- at least they know where they stand), and also -- and this is key -- are expected to be the pursuers in any romantic endeavor. Men chase; women do not.

We're in very dangerous shoals when we start attempting as our latest, greatest Social Engineering Project to tame men and make them stop taking the initiative.

Are we simultaneously going to teach women that, for this to work, they in turn must become romantic aggressors themselves? After all, one party has to initiate things here. It can't be that we all start being passive unless we want to be like the Japanese where men and women don't have sex or make babies any longer.

Are women comfortable being Socially Engineered into a state that is uncomfortable to them and in fact runs counter to all of their psychosocial instincts, to be the pursuer in a relationship? To bear the quite-crushing sting of rejection?

Oh, and -- while we're on the topic, why is that when men and women disagree (men are more forward and more direct, women are more receding and more indirect), that it is men who are demanded to behave more like women, and not women who are demanded to be more like men?

After all, as I said, the answer, "No, and I already told you no twice already, and if you ask again, I'll consider it harassing" would not only deter almost all male pursuers but would create a clear legal case of harassment going forward (assuming it was written down in an email or something).

This would fix the problem right quick -- and yet no one's asking women to change their behavior to be more confrontational and direct.

Why not? Well, I'd assume the reason is because women find this level of confrontation and directness to be uncomfortable and contrary to their psychosocial make-up.

And sure, that may be true -- but why then is it such a given that men are expected to subvert/alter all of their own inborn instincts?

I'm not saying women are wrong in their preferred avoid-confrontation-through-hints strategy. I'm saying only that men and women are different (wow, huh?) on this point.

What I'm questioning is why, whenever men and women have a different modus operandi on something, it's the default, unchallenged-to-the-point-of-psychic-hegemony position that men gotta change for the sake of women.

Ummmm... why?

Anyway, the good news is that FaceBook and Google employees will not be having children so their bloodlines will soon be dead.

On the other hand, like most Social Justice Warriors, they believe in sort of Cuckoo strategy as far as childbirth. As cuckoos frequently impregnate other cuckoo's mates and trick other male cuckoos into raising their own get (hence "cuckold," from cuckoo), SJWs choose not to bother with the biological messiness of childbirth, but instead instruct, indoctrinate, and recruit your children into their bizarre cults.

And Google and FaceBook are the perfect perches (ahem) from which to do that.

Meanwhile, Kyle Smith writes that there's a male backlash brewing to #MeToo, starting with men just excluding women from offices and shared travel, for fear of being accused of something.

The thing is, when people are treated as the enemy, they're going to start acting as if they're potential victims caught behind enemy lines, and start avoiding their potential victimizers.

My computer is super-hot and barely responding. I have to shut it down for 45 minutes or so. See you soon.

33 Corso recorso: This will all resolve into a Pareto model, where twenty percent of the cunning, alpha men are getting eighty percent of the leg (that's worth getting). Then there will be squealing from the wallflowers, and the other eighty percent of men will be legally compelled to demonstrate that they have sexed an ugly woman at least once a year. This hasn't been worked out exactly, but that looks like the rough schematic.

(Note that in keeping with modern conversational conventions, in the above, "men" should be replaced with "people.")

Ask a progressive chick what her favorite "romantic comedy" is.
Then go over scene by scene how the male protagonist would, if acting anything like that in todays world, be keelhauled before a Title IX sexual misconduct court if in college, or if in the workplace potentially shamed and fired.

That said, I think at least 10 couples married in my company. Even though there were rules against dating coworkers. And definitely affairs.

And I was asked out by coworkers...one married...and I always said no. But I never reported anyone or even complained about it. One guy though, became an asshole about my rejection. However, he was the CEO's brother in law, so I just had to deal. But that is a whole other story.

139 What really gets me about all this is that it was planned. It started with Cosby in 2015 which seemed to come out of left field. Big star, nice guy, and other than the rumors which most people hadn't heard, totally unexpected. It was good battlespace prep for the Newest Victim War where, spoiler alert, The White Man is Still The Villain.

And it was all going to coincide nicely with Her Hagness assuming her rightful throne where she would "appear" to be changing the world, while our society bifurcated on yet another fault line.

Yes, this stuff is planned (if not extremely well utilized like St. Trayvon of Purpledrankia), but thank God these assholes could not or did not plan for Donald J. Trump.

Ladies you want assholes, you are predisposed to wanting assholes and you have promoted the existence of assholes. The guys you claim you want are almost always friend zoned.

146 Going to disagree with you on this one, Ace

1: There's many fish in the sea. She's not interested? Fine, ask a different one

2: Do you have thing you like to do, that might interest members of the opposite sex? It's really easy to become an event scheduler: Pick something you'd like to do anyway, and invite a bunch of co-workers to join you. If they show up, great! If they don't? At least you got your lazy butt out of the house, to do something you wanted to do

Do enough of those, repeat the ones that people show up for, and pretty soon you're the social hub

And then, when you ask someone out, and she says "no", you can then politely ask her if she wants to be removed from the invite list. If yes, then good riddance. If no, then she now knows the ball's in her court

Win - win

161 In case you missed it or would like to read it again:

FUCK

Perhaps one of the most interesting and colourful words in the English language today is the word "fuck". It is the one magical word which, just by its sound, can describe pain, pleasure, love, and hate.

In language, "fuck" falls into many grammatical categories. It can be used as a verb, both transitive (John fucked Mary) and intransitive (Mary was fucked by John). It can be an action verb (John really gives a fuck), a passive verb (Mary really doesn't give a fuck), an adverb (Mary is fucking interested in John), or as a noun (Mary is a terrific fuck).

It can also be used as an adjective (Mary is fucking beautiful) or an interjection (Fuck! I'm late for my date with Mary). It can even be used as a conjunction (Mary is easy, fuck she's also stupid). As you can see, there are very few words with the overall versatility of the word "fuck"..

Aside from its sexual connotations, this incredible word can be used to describe many situations:

1. Greetings: "How the fuck are ya?"

2. Fraud: "I got fucked by the car dealer."

3. Resignation: "Oh, fuck it!"

4. Trouble: "I guess I'm fucked now."

5. Aggression: "FUCK YOU!"

6. Disgust: "Fuck me."

7. Confusion: "What the fuck.......?"

8. Difficulty: "I don't understand this fucking business!"

9. Despair: "Fucked again..."

What Ace is discussing is an ago old issue. Communication. The reason's many marriages break up or couples break up.

If only people would be straightforward and honest.

What google, et al are doing is making women look weak in a sense.

If men aren't sure if the response is a real NO, then just take it as a NO and move on. The woman will have to ask if she's interested.

Which leads me to this question: Are women only allowed ONE CHANCE too? Seems fair. Women do ask men to lunch and beyond. Goes both ways?

218 The real problem here is that many interactions between men and women are in a very grey area between bluntly "asking a woman to go on a date" and "just having a random friendly offhand chitchat" with no date mentioned.

Imagine the following conversation:

Him: "Hey, that' a cool Felix the Cat statuette on your desk. Where'd you get it?"
Her: "Oh, I picked it up at the downtown Flea Market. I loved finding old vintage stuff there."
Him: "Yeah, I love going to that Flea Market too! Maybe we'll bump into each other there."

Now, he hasn't asked anybody "out on a date." But he has basically lef the door open for her to ask him out on a date. But if she's repulsed by him, she may perceive his leaving-the-door-open itself as an unwanted advance, and report him to the boss as a sexual predator. But from the guy's vantage point, he never asked anything of her.

So: Who even gets to determine what counts as "asking out on a date"?

I think with a little bit of adroitness this situation shouldn't - absent SJWs - be a problem.

First, before asking a woman out, if you have any sense, you'd have reason to believe she would probably accept. Teenagers etc. go in for cold calls, but that's because they don't know any better.

Second, if she is interested but really IS busy, and she's squared away, she'll make clear that that is the case, and that she would love to accept on another occasion, and perhaps even make a counter proposal.

More importantly, will they be allowed to harass straight people? A few years ago, a gay student in CA kept harassing a straight kid. The latter complained multiple times to the administrators and nothing was done. Eventually he couldn't take it any more, brought in a gun and killed him. I imagine it's almost impossible for any sort of administrator, whether school or HR, to reprimand the protected classes for that sort of behavior.

That's what this is REALLY all about: flirting "out of your league."

Handsome/rich men are allowed to flirt with whomever they want, because they are desirable and no woman would take offense, and her self-esteem is raised by being selected as a potential mate for the Alpha Dog. Ugly/poor men are forbidden from trying to flirt with women who are better-looking than they are, because doing so offends the women -- lowering their self-esteem by implying that they would be acceptable mates for a bottom-of-the-pecking-order beta male.

Because any hint that any woman anywhere should have acted differently in some unfortunate situation - or that she should learn from the situation and adjust her behavior in the future, or that other women should learn from her situation and adjust their own behavior to achieve a better outcome - is immediately denounced as "victim blaming"

329 Russian trolls posed as black activists on Tumblr and generated hundreds of thousands of interactions for content that ranged from calling Hillary Clinton a "monster" to supporting Bernie Sanders and decrying racial injustice and police violence in the US, according to new findings from researcher Jonathan Albright and BuzzFeed News.

While Facebook and Twitter continue to face intense public and congressional pressure over the activity from trolls working for the Russian Internet Research Agency, Tumblr has somehow managed to escape scrutiny. But the blogging platform was in fact home to a powerful, largely unrevealed network of Russian trolls focused on black issues and activism.

332 I'm surprised that the Silicon Valley Junior Anti-Sex League would allow even one date request, but ironically that was always my practice when I was single. If she said no, I simply moved on, for two reasons: first, there were always more opportunities elsewhere, and second, because (especially as I got into my 30s) I felt "you're a big girl, you know what you want and what you don't".

I also found that it was actually getting HARDER as I got older. Contrary to popular belief and all the bilge about desperate women hitting the Wall in their 30s, I am convinced that large numbers of them simply prefer their fish without bicycles and have no desire to find a male partner. This process is self-selecting, so that those who do want to get married do so early on, so that the ones who are single by choice comprise a larger share as cohorts age.

MCU's comic book films have all been at least fun to watch, if not always the best. Thor 2 wasn't a very good movie but it still was entertaining, 3 stars or so. None of them have been awful, just sometimes tepid (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Avengers 2). I bet Black Panther is fun and entertaining. I like that actor and thought he was one of the few high points in Captain America Civil War.

341 the funny/sad thing about this dating hoohaha is that, if you look back before WW2, just about all companies had policies against any "fraternization" between employees who were not married, even when away from work. Both could be fired if it was found out that they were spending time together, because this was thought to lead to all kinds of work problems, such as favoritism or just people not paying much attention to what they were supposed to be doing.

In the 50's and 60's, all these rules were ridiculed and dropped because now it was thought that it was wrong for companies to try to be so paternal, and that it was a violation of employees civil rights for their employers to dictate what they could and could not do after hours.

Fast forward to today, and everything that is old is new again. The left wants companies to regulate the social behavior of their employees 24 hours a day, for their own good of course.

He's obviously of zero importance from any perspective, obviously just a prop or convenience exploited by the FBI to get and renew their warrants. It's the wider net of contacts that matter. Related question - do, or when will, the committees have the lists of those "unmasked"?

And a final related question. How in the wide, wide world of sports can a FISA warrant be renewed without the court being shown "productive" take from the surveillance to date, or assured there is some? With all the hoops and safeguards built into the FISA process, how is *THAT* not a firm requirement for any renewals?

Guess you were lucky. I worked in IT for 40 years, and there was a lesson I learned early on. First heard this from my very first supervisor, an older guy who had been around forever (he was an old "unit record" man, so he had been in the business a LONG time).

Don't remember how the subject came up (you'd be amazed at what people will talk about in the middle of the night after the batch processing is done and the scratch tapes have been pulled), but this issue was discussed. The boss put it very succinctly, if rather crudely. "You don't sh*t where you eat". That is, do not get involved with romantic entanglements with your coworkers. As a rule its a zero sum game and not worth the hassle. And that was in the 1970s. By the 1980s it was clear to most that bird dogging someone at work was NOT a good idea. (And while it's true that it's usually the men who are the aggressors in these matters, oh no, not always; sometimes its the women as well; I've seen it.)

And in the years since it has gone downhill from there. There are far too many places one can go to look for a potential mate that do not put your job at risk. Do it on the job, and all it takes is one wrong move, one wrong word and you are out on the curb, without a job, wondering what hit you, especially nowadays.

387 Am what about all those Denzel Washington thrillers from the 1990s? He made about 20 of them, many blockbusters, black lead character every time, and several with majority black casts.

They will never let go of racism (or sexism).

It doesn't matter how many refutations of their assertions come down the pike, they will constantly insist that it exists and rules America, despite the fact that endless times in the past they have been proved wrong.

They will constantly invent milestones for themselves to claim that THEY are the ones who conquered the Eternal Evil.

========

This drives me nuts. Scientists have done goodness knows how many thousands of studies on thousands of people under well controlled conditions, where they can attempt to replicate results, eliminate possible variables, etc. and they STILL got it 180° wrong in a number of cases. For decades.

With climatology, it's far worse. We haven't repeated any experiments with varying CO2 levels on, say, 1000 copies of Earth spanning millions of years so that we can say with any accuracy what's going on. Compared to studies on nutrition we have 0 data and 0 control over any relevant factors. And yet they expect us to believe it when they say "Only 5 years left, and even then it may be too late!"

485 You don't get to ask the girl out till she pretends to fall down, then slips you a note saying "I love you" as you help her back up.

This reminded me of a story. In college I was supposed to go pick up my girlfriend at a computer lab. She looked like she was still working, so I sat at an available computer next to her. After a little bit I realized she hadn't seen me, so I played a little prank.

I passed her a note that said something like, "you're cute, would you like to go on a date?" She saw the note and I saw her back visibly stiffen, and she pretended not to see the note. I pushed the note further toward her on the table to let her know I wasn't giving up. She finally looked up and was furious and happy at the same time.

I was pretty proud of my little prank.

Tucker hasn't been putting the effort into countering some of these people that he should be. A lot of times he tries that "I don't know the truth, it just seems reasonable" which is in fact quite weak, because it leaves an opening for the other side to at least sound reasonable, and then they win. That line only works against the worst freak outs, like the people Hannity likes to bring on.

521 And, verging on a comment on the post topic, a topic I meticulously avoid and have no real interest in - I really don't care what any social media's policies are. They are private entities, participation in their activities, patronizing/using their services, is entirely voluntary. So they should be able to set any policy they want, however reasonable or insane.

But, you may say, Farcebook and Gulag have dominant position in their spaces. Enough so that they verge on being utilities, in which case public accommodation reasoning and common sense raise the question of regulation.

I get "first mover" advantage. I get scale advantage. What I don't get is why these companies and their success have not resulted in competition. This pattern - success attracting more capital, competition, and lowering of margins - is the most fundamental one in a free economy (along with the basic supply/demand dynamic).

Why TF have these companies (at least the social media ones, Gulag's a bit different) attracted competition and alternatives? Why weren't/aren't there 10 alternatives to Twatter, instead of just Gab (which I don't think has gotten any traction).

Google, or another subsidiary of Alphabet. Or another hyper-SJW firm.

You will allowed to ask your femmebot for a bj just once. If your femmebot declines ( advanced AI might incline her to do so ), and you ask again, she reports you to the local authorities via skynet.

You will be made to ask your femmebot for permission.

Maybe inertia, the greatest force in nature, simply overwhelms everything here. People won't support/pay for/seek out alternatives, no matter how alienated they are. Sort of like NFL fans who can't be driven away by any level of idiocy from the players and league.

626 Women, who do not want to accept an offer of a date at a particular time from a certain suitor, but might be open to such an offer in the future, will have to choose between accepting the (at the moment) unwanted invitation, or foreclosing on the possibility of any relationship with this person in the future.

627 If men aren't sure if the response is a real NO, then just take it as a NO and move on. The woman will have to ask if she's interested.

Which leads me to this question: Are women only allowed ONE CHANCE too? Seems fair. Women do ask men to lunch and beyond. Goes both ways?

===============================
Why stop there?

Man asks man to go to lunch? Bad to assume either is not gay. Or maybe the asked is trans-curious, and identified, for a moment as a woman.

Woman asks woman to go to lunch? Same thing.

Add a few trans rules in there as well, with the added direction from HR that doing anything that disputes in thought, word, or deed the gender of the person asking/

Tucker needs to find a way around this. It is the mission of his show to show the left as they are. But that weakens his chances to get decent guests.

I'm noticing that too. I don't think she succeeds because she's extreme and comes across as a ditz (which is why Tucker has her on), but Rep. Pocan (Dane County loon, WI) was very adept at dodging Carlson's questions last night. They're figuring him out.

Ask out? Ha! Just hit on head with club, drag by hair to cave. Easy!

630 Clearly, this is an effort by Google to ensure that their employees remain romantically un-involved so that they do not have to deal with things like maternity leave or their female employees suddenly deciding that they would rather raise a family than have a career.

Keep the women isolated from the men and you can make them dependent on the company. Smart.

631 It's not that they think women can't also make adjustments to their behavior, it's that they're #FemmeSupremacists.

632 "Which is fine."

Nope, no it isn't. Not when losing your reputation, your job, and then your wife, your kids, and your entire life is hanging in the balance.

633 The best solution to this is to create new competition with every service Googul and FacePlantBook provide. Then we can look at reforming the so-called sexual harassment law, which I believe is a clear first amendment violation.

634 My company has had an explicit rule against dating co-workers for the 10 years that I've been here.

Since the "metoo" stuff started, they implemented a new rule: Under no circumstances are two people of opposite sex to be in a room alone together. Ever. Period.

Need to find a 3rd person to sit in, even if (as is nearly always the case) they have no reason at all to be there other than as a chaperone.

They haven't figured out yet that they've omitted "preventing" Kevin Spacey type harassment.

635 "Unless we want to be like the Japanese where men and women don't have sex or make babies any longer."
Isn't that the goal? Elimination of the white "oppressors", by any means necessary? Abortion, gay pride, interracial relationships, its all trying to get rid of "whitey".
