MEMO RELEASED

The Federalist has it.

Another huge point: The FISA Application cited a Michael Isikoff article as "corroborating information" for the Steele Memo, despite the fact that it was Steele who had leaked that information to Isikoff.

So, Steele "corroborated himself" by leaking to Isikoff and then saying "Look, Isikoff says so too."

More: Steele was fired by the FBI for breaking rules of confidentiality when he went on his Media Tour, trying to interest Mother Jones and other outlets in his claims. The Memo notes he should have been fired for speaking to Yahoo News/Isikoff much earlier, before the first FISA application, because he gave Isikioff his bullshit too.

So yes, the FISA application was fatally defective from the outset. And yet Rod Rosenstein, Andrew McCabe, and Sally Yates (!!!) just kept re-signing the renewal applications.

The FBI and DOJ do not seem to have alerted the court to Steele's firing or unreliability (or partisan bias) in any application, even after they themselves fired him.

When Comey "briefed" Trump about the memo, he also withheld from Trump the dossier's partisan origins as well as the unreliablity (and firability) of its alleged author.

Note I always put "briefed" in quotes when I speak of this "briefing," because this briefing was not for the President's information, but for CNN's: The plan was to make the dossier "reportable" by giving it a newsworthy angle (It's so explosive the president was briefed on it!).

CNN was almost immediately leaked the news of this "briefing." It should be pointed out that one of the four reporters pushing this leak to the public was Evan Perez, who is a best friend of Fusion GPS' Glenn Simpson.

Note those last two paragraphs are not in this memo; that's already known. I'm just re-stating that because it's important.

Unfortunately this is even shorter than I thought - it's three pages and one extra paragraph on the fourth page, not four whole pages.

Some good stuff here, but... just 3.14 pages.

19 hoo boy

In a new exchange released by the Senate Homeland Security committee today, FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok seem to discuss this very issue in private texts.

Page: Have a meeting with turgal about getting iphone in a day or so

Strzok: Oh hot damn. . . We get around our security/monitoring issues?

Page: No, he's proposing that we just stop following them.
Apparently the requirement to capture texts came from -Office of Management and Budget-, but we're the only org (I'm told) who is following that rule. His point is, if no one else is doing it why should we. . . I'm told - thought I have seen - that there is an IG report that says everyone is failing. But one has changed anything, so why not just join in the failure.

It's a shockingly cavalier attitude from an attorney and high level FBI official.

21 The memo relates specifically to Carter Page and the many unethical acts the FBI took in securing the FISA investigation... it is enough to make prosecution against Page impossible and end more than a few careers at the Bureau. But nothing specifically addressing actions against Trump here.

Posted by: trev006 at February 02, 2018 12:26 PM (jRA31)

22 FOXNews would be better served if they would allow Catherine Herridge an hour to read the memo and then discuss it with her background knowledge of it instead of trying to force her to sort of read it and then come up with a comment and then read it a little more and then come up with a comment.

Second ... They'll insist Carter Page Was a Bad Man Who Had It Coming", in conjunction with Chris Steele Lied.

306 Ace, if you're here:

What this memo reveals is that

The dossier is the MacGuffin.

The REAL goal, and the real story here, is the illegal spying on Trump by Obama and his leftist minions.

The dossier itself is completely irrelevant, and random fake made-up bunch of garbage created merely to get a FISA warrant.

Everyone for a year has been obsessively focused on the dossier, but it was simply a trivial tool, created offhandedly and then quickly discarded, to obtain the true goal -- permission to spy on Trump, and (hopefully) then with that spying to get actual dirt on Trump, with which they could then rig the election.

Problem is, the spying produced exactly ZERO dirt on Trump. And all that was left was the original trivial dossier, which was never meant to be the focus of attention.

I mean, I could maybe understand if agents in the field were
compromised or certain technology was revealed in this memo that foreign
powers didn't know about, but the only thing revealed was the
corruption of individuals.

That's what Democrats wanted to hide.

Maybe Eastwood can do it, because we know Spielberg never will.

The single dumbest theme that has gone on throughout this last year was Sleepy Sessions.

What exactly do people think the job of the Attorney General is? To strap on a Sherlock Holmes hat and get a bloodhound?

He is the chief executive of a 100,000 person government agency and he has plenty of investigators and people doing stuff in lots of different areas. The OIG with his team of over 500 investigators and lawyers is the person who was doing the major investigation and obviously he has found a lot.

Sessions had no role to play in this investigation.

then they went back (after already spying without said warrant?) and used their own faked 'dossier' to fool the judge, withholding the obvious duplicity ... (that it was their own people, being linked with DNC at that point, Ohrs and others)

Oh look judge (different judge, also not informed request had been denied once?) we found some pure document that gravely concerns us. Lie of omission, that it was funded by "them", them being deepstate/dnc, coordinating with leaks/payments to MFM.

488 I don't care if any of the DOJ/FBI creeps do time. Losing jobs, losing pensions, losing reputations, losing power, yes, love to see that, because that's what really would punish them.

But they're just hench men. I want bigger powers to fall due to this.

I want to know which Democrats in Congress knew about this and when did they know it? Adam Schiff comes to mind immediately. Should be the campaign theme of next fall. I want the entire Democrat Party tarred and feathered with this scandal. I would gladly let Ohr, Lynch, et al, not go to prison if only this would happen.

Secondly, it's not necessarily the journalists involved with this who should go to jail -- it's their publications / employers who should be punished. CNN, WaPO, NYT, NBC -- their credibility as "news" organizations shot to hell forever and even LIVs and libs not trusting them any more. I would rather see CNN and the WaPo go out of business over this than to see an individual jerk journalist go to jail. I'm thinking long game here - the political and media power structure that led to this is what needs to suffer.

The persons named in the memo are just the hit men. I want to see their mob bosses brought down.

507 The memo writers have a bunch of trial stuff on Steele's libel trial in London. He says one thing in court records (much of it sealed but the US Congress was given it) and the FBI cretins say something else. So who is lying? If Steele was really so very, very anti-Trump being elected that means MI6 was too which of course is Teresa May et al. If the UK is conspiring to disrupt a US election there needs to be a few heads rolled in jolly old UK as Steele is their creature. It also reads like the FBI is trying to hang a lot of this on Steele and Ohr who is his bosom buddy. And Rosenstein is/was Ohr's boss, and his wife's employment at Fusion GPS didn't come out until their bank records were turned over to Nunes by the bank. The DOJ never fessed up about old Nellie Ohr. Rosenstein needs to be $(*#-canned this afternoon. He either knew or is too stupid/lazy to be Asst Attorney General. Or go to the basement.

518 I mean, McCabe, Yates, and Rosenstien seemingly broke the law. They intentionally misrepresented things to the FISA court - pretty sure you get a swift kick in the nut sack for that.

If I were the FISA judge I'd haul all their asses in front of me NOW and question them under oath, get the truth ("were you aware when you made this request...did you knowingly violate...) and toss them in jail for a week for contempt of court for good measure. Assuming they don't admit to crimes on the spot.

This is not partisan attack, it is a wake up call to these yo-yos - you had better be VERY sure of your information before launching something like this going forward. You could make an argument that these guys just pencil whipped it through without much thought. THAT is why they will not do a long stint in prison.

Once they were out of court for contempt charges, If I were Trump, I'd immediately fire all three. It doesn't have to be partisanship - just simple and utter incompetence. You cannot launch a FISA investigation on the sole say so of an opposition campaign paid informant. Ever.

541 I suspect that special counsels (plural) can now be authorized. If Mueller knew the tainted dossier was the basis for his investigation, then he is chargeable if he used that information to secure search warrants etc. and all convictions and or pleas are open for revision. His conflict of interest statement will come to be revealed and may further undermine him. Furthermore, having tainted members such as the FBI-DOJ lovers on his staff talking about misconduct in office, makes further prosecutions difficult unless Mueller resigns along with the whole existing team and a new one starts from scratch.

All of those DOJ officials named in the report may also be subject to bar disciplinary actions per a complaint as well as subject to criminal prosecution if they knowingly used false representation before a court to seek a continuation of the warrants.

Folks, this is the tip of the iceberg as people note. Most of your media is compromised, I suspect that Fusion GPS will indicate widespread pay to play among reporters. I also suspect that the whole Hillary Email scandal will spread to envelop BO and fmr Atty Gen Lynch. Comey and McCabe along with others will be lucky to avoid obstruction of justice among other charges. Ohr, violated DOJ conflict of interest guidelines but haven't done the research to determine if those have criminal penalties.

AND, we have not come to the unmasking and GPS usage (along with other contractors) and dissemination of top secret information for political purposes.

I suspect that fun and games with the FISA court have been going on for some time and Mike Rogers probably knew about it.

Benghazi, perjury before Congress, the corruption at the Consumer Finance Protection Board, etc. have yet been fully investigated and the Nuclear bomb is Uranium One and the Clinton Global Initiative. Which most of the usual top suspects were involved in some fashion. Our government's executive branch, intelligence community, judiciary, and law enforcement are all implicated in grand schemes of corruption and misbehavior that resemble a drug cartel operated government rather than what the civics books tell us how government is supposed to operate.

Show a touch of mercy towards these people, treat them not like criminals, but escaped mental patients.

559 555 Legal question: Can the Federal judge who signed/issued the FISA warrants rescind those warrants based on the new information?
------------------
Yes. And he can refer charges against those who perpetrated a fraud on the court. Judges really don't like be fucked with by crooked lawyers and cops.

562 That is an important point - what is the confidential information the dems were yammering about in this memo? I don't see anything confidential at all.

564 I actually feel quite sick about all this. I grew up
in a country where the government did and still does, this kind of shit
all the time. Spying on its citizens, using false narratives to get rid
of the opposition, murder, etc. I just can't believe its happening here
as well. I want to cry. Posted by: IC at February 02, 2018 12:47 PM (a0IVu)

568 Democrats got caught red handed, trying to rig an election and overthrow a legally elected President.......and yet NO ONE IS SITTING IN JAIL, and the investigators are being eliminated like falling drops of rain. DID SOMEBODY SAY; TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE in broad daylight and the criminials are running the institutions and the investigations into themselves ! Banana Republic injustice farce, Nazi/leftist UTOPIAN STYLE.
