Dallas Fed: We Might Not Like Trump, But We Have to Admit His Policies Are Working

Really?

I like how the Dallas Federal Reserve feels obligated -- and permitted -- to preface its positive assessment of the objective economic facts with a disclaimer that "We don't like Trump."

Following missed expectations at the Philly Fed, Richmond Fed, Empire Fed, and PMIs; The Dallas Fed manufacturing survey smashed expectations - soaring to 33.4, the highest since Nov 2005.

Which caused the Dallas fed to say:

We may not like the way things are communicated and the division in the country, but the policies are improving conditions for the workers and employers. We will be putting our tax savings and costs savings from a reduced regulatory environment back into expanding the business and hiring more people. The U.S. is more competitive internationally, but itís still far from ideal. We increased salaries and bonuses as a way to retain top talent and hire more quality people. I hope we keep reducing burdensome regulations and start reducing waste, debt, corruption, ineffective programs and the overall size of the government.

Since AllahPundit is obsessing about why Christians (who he harbors obvious contempt towards) are giving Trump the same pass on infidelity that the nation gave to Clinton, maybe he could examine the reasons Clinton got a pass (a booming economy) and use his super-smart blogger analysis to probe a possible connection between an economy performing well and a population's willingness to extend a lenient standard of judgment to a president.

Also, he might consider the possibility that when a population feels as if it's under siege (primarily because it is under siege), they will tend to be supportive of their few prominent defenders. It's a thing called hierarchy of needs -- hard needs like survival come first, soft needs like self-actualization (including having opinions and preferences on third- and fourth-order concerns like virtue-signaling) come last.

As a friend of mine observed: starving people don't virtue signal. They don't have the time or energy for such trivial posturing.

Or naah. Maybe it'd be a good week for a bunch of Atheists Are Better headline items.

The body and conclusion of his article is a complete fucking refutation of the title of his article!!!

We don't have evidence, material (ew) or recorded, from Stormy Daniels about whatever it is went on between her and Trump.

On the other hand, Clinton left a trail of splooge from Little Rock to Washington, and lied about it under oath, and moreover did it like a weasel: FORCING Ken Starr to explain exactly how Clinton lied, in goopy detail.

And this got broadcast into every American home during prime time, forcing parents to explain concepts like "semen" and "analingus" and exactly where cigars should and should not go to all their kids.

In short, Bill Clinton: what a sleazeball.

42 Part of the appeal of virtue signaling is that it's way cheaper than actual virtue. If actual virtue is the risky behavior of saving someone from a looming bus, virtue signaling only requires that you complain that a bus can loom. Meanwhile, inside the black box of your own psyche, it feels like you've saved lots of people from several buses, enough though you've accomplished nothing at all.

110 FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe in the days leading up to his forced resignation Monday threatened to "torch" the FBI if he was expelled from his job without full retirement benefits, according to sources with direct knowledge of private conversations McCabe shared with agents.

"He was unglued," one FBI source said.

"Someone should keep an eye on him."

But McCabe may also have been reacting, in part, to another growing problem beyond the corruption scandals enveloping McCabe's leadership at the embattled FBI.

An FBI insider with Intel inside the embattled Bureau who has vigilantly worked to uncover systemic corruption inside the FBI, is rumored to be penning a tell-all book that promises to blow the roof off the inner-workings of the FBI's controversial 7th-Floor.

This could spell trouble for more than McCabe.
This story is Developing.
We will update as more Intel is gathered.

150 There are a couple kinds of atheists out there. Some are really obnoxious and angry and in your face about it, for them its their religion and others are competing with their faith so the can't put up with that. Most are just quiet about it and don't care one way or another about the topic.

Many, not most, Atheists have an overt contempt for Christians more than other religions. Why is this? Seriously, I don't get it.

I can think of a few reasons. Christianity until recently was the dominant religion of America and the west, so that's what they come up against and are most familiar with. Most atheists of this sort had a Bad Experience when they were younger with Christianity and/or Christians and hold that against all universally.

Also: guilt and worry will make you upset and defensive.

But it will be a long road out, as groups of Saudis or Chinese are now probably trillionaires, and coastal elite demand the easy money party continue, and can buy the politicians to make it happen.

So reducing regulations and taxes ... a good start, but removing the globalist mafia is essential to our liberty and sovereignty. So far so good ... funny money for the win ... gotta keep the coastal elites fat and happy, for now.

So far, everyone who has gone after Trump has been the loser; McCabe is just the most recent example. The media may be doing better financially, but they have destroyed their credibility with the Russian Witch Hunt. Let's get over the fact that Trump is...Trump, and focus on what he is accomplishing and what more he could accomplish in three to 7 years. Would be nice if someone could compile the 5 "worst" Trump statements, so we could line them up against the 5 worst things his predecessor said.

Because off-hand, I can't think of a single important and distasteful thing Trump has said. Whereas with Bambi, the race-baiting, arrogant ignorance, and bigotry - all on matters of import - were jaw-dropping. Over and over.

So please, those who themselves engage in the de rigeur throwaway prefacing statements about Trump, pitch in and fill in those 10 lines.

The pushy ones are like that because they are insecure. They adopt certain beliefs, certain behaviors, because they think that they are smarter than other people and so they want to set themselves apart from the unwashed masses. It's an extension of the idea that progressivism is a belief system for people who think that they are too big for their small towns.

Too many people gave them a pass because they were temporarily directing their ire at Islam, imo. They were always always atheist fanatics, but learned they could get an audience by taking on Islam.

Ah, good point. It's been a while for me studying that too. So maybe they are still on the Esteem rung of the hierarchy ladder, where you battle with needing external validation from others vs. inner validation from yourself. The problem might be they THINK they are at the top of the pyramid--perfect actualized Woke beings--when they really have a long slog ahead to get there, since they are still hung up on societal approval. Makes sense.

429 "264 Many, not most, Atheists have an overt contempt for Christians more than
other religions. Why is this? Seriously, I don't get it."

Largely because Atheism* is a religious belief system that is premised on Western religion being false. Also because Muslims aren't as easy cowed into polite silence by their typical lame and superficial arguments.

*Not to be confused with Agnosticism, though many atheists insist on trying. Agnostics make no doctrinal assertions about the existence or non-existence of any particular God or gods. Atheism is a religion, agnosticism is not.

460 the latest from the CMP:

Status of the CMP 1911s, 1/29/2018:

The CMP has been authorized to receive 8,000 1911 type pistols from the United States Army.

The 1911s have been received by the CMP. A complete inventory will be conducted over the course of this week. The pistols will then be securely stored until the Army-approved 1911 building and armory infrastructure is completed. That completion is anticipated to be approximately 60 days from now. Once the 1911 armory is completed, inspection, grading, repair, and ultimately test firing of the pistols will begin. (Please be aware that the CMP was led to believe that we were ready to move forward, but three weeks ago facility requirements were changed, and we are now fulfilling those requirements.)

The CMP 1911 order packet will be posted 90 days prior to the order acceptance date and opening sales date. No orders will be accepted prior to that date. Please visit www.thecmp.org, click on the Sales icon then 1911 Information, for the latest. CMP customer service has been inundated with calls and emails concerning the 1911s and no further information is available at this time.

The CMP will keep everyone posted as we move through this process.

I don't get too worked up about whatever the trousered apes are saying.

528 42 Part of the appeal of virtue signaling is that it's way cheaper than actual virtue. If actual virtue is the risky behavior of saving someone from a looming bus, virtue signaling only requires that you complain that a bus can loom. Meanwhile, inside the black box of your own psyche, it feels like you've saved lots of people from several buses, enough though you've accomplished nothing at all.

531 I have been reading this blog and Hot Air on and off since like 2005. Back when Little Green Footballs was a thing. I always thought that Ace and Allah were friendly and I have been meaning to ask...when did that change and why?

532 The Dallas Fed is being unreasonably maligned.
The report is available here https://www.dallasfed.org/research/surveys/tmos/2018/1801 The quote is on the last page and is a response, by an anonymous Texas manufacturer, to the survey. It is not a Fed statement. Morover you can read it two ways. One being critical of naysayers.

533 (519) Is it just me, or is Leo looking more like Charles Foster Kane by the day? Or the bastard child of Howard Hughes and O. Welles?
