JP Morgan To Increase Wages, Invest $20 Billion in US Economy in Wake of Tax Cuts;
Disney Handing Out $1000 Bonuses to 125,000 Employees

They'll even be increasing the wages of the most vulnerable members of our economy -- RUSSIAN BOTS!!!

JPMorgan Chase will increase wages for its lowest-paid workers and reverse its recent trend of branch closures, it announced on Tuesday, after promising to share the proceeds of the Trump administration’s recent tax cuts. The moves are part of an investment plan which the bank says will be worth $20bn over the next five years, including further commitments to increase its lending to small businesses and create thousands of new jobs.

Disney's now handing out $1,000 bonuses like they were cash bribes to critics for favorable reviews for Star Wars and Marvel movies.

Disney announced Tuesday it will pay over 125,000 employees a one-time cash bonus of $1,000, as well as make a new $50 million investment into education program for employees.

Hat-Tip: Several RUSSIAN BOTS who want to INFLUENCE ELECTIONS by SHARING STORIES ON FACEBOOK AND SHIT.

Update: RUSSIAN BOT "Garret" tells me Starbucks is increasing wages too.

Starbucks will use some of the savings from the new U.S. corporate tax cuts to give domestic employees pay raises, company stock and expanded benefits with a combined worth of more than $250 million, the company said on Wednesday.

I don't think they are going to escape prosecution. If you go back and read the letter Nunes sent to the DOJ in December demanding certain documents, he also demanded that certain DOJ employees be available to be interviewed by his committee in January.

It's a lot easier to compel an employee to testify that someone you just fired. Rybicki was on that list and so was Ohr and Priestap and a bunch of the rats involved with this made up Russia scandal.

Prosecutions aren't going to happen for a while, the OIG report will be a catalyst but probably for a 2nd special counsel and then there will be prosecutions.

This is going to take a while. Might as well get comfortable.

going pretty much nonstop during the cold snap. We hit 0 degrees one
day. Some space heaters in some rooms to make them pleasantly toasty.
Because with oil I can't afford much more than tepid temperatures
throughout the house.

Posted by: Acme Trucking Enterprises, White Truck Division at January 24, 2018 01:18 PM (2FqvZ)

Must be the space heaters because with oil heat the big freeze should not have impacted your electricity that much. It will mine though because I have a heat pump and once it gets down below 32F not only is the heat pump running but the electric strip heaters kick on. That is why you don't see too many heat pumps in the North.

According to the power company on average my usage is below their average customer and into the most efficient range.

My circ pump runs 24/7 during the heating season by the way (I have zone valves for the different zones, and a "loop" that the valves connect back to). I don't notice any difference in my electric bill when I shut off the loop and turn off the circ pump in the spring.

None of this shit where U.S. citizens have to file and pay taxes and get prosecuted if they fail to do it, but illegals can go for decades without filing, and the IRS just ignores it because . . . illegals. Same with registering and insuring vehicles, obeying zoning regs (i.e., not having 20 or 30 illegals living in one house), motor vehicle laws (i.e., no more impounding the cars of citizens who commit MV offenses, but letting illegals keep their vehicles because . . . illegals), etc.

Nothing is more destructive to the rule of law than the system we have now, where there are one set of laws for citizens and legal residents, and a very different set of laws for illegal aliens.

Either our laws mean something, or they don't. And that applies to immigration laws as well as to other types of laws.

And if our laws don't have any meaning anymore, then we don't need to be paying law-makers anymore, do we? We can just ditch them, and go straight to a system of anarchy, which is what people like Chuck the Schmuck Schumer seem to want anyway.

363 Toys R Us was my Mecca during the original Nintendo days.

Calling at open of business daily to check stock and unofficially reserve games, rushing to the store before lunch, grabbing a sales ticket from the pegboard above the demo televisions, going to the security cage near the front of the store, waiting for someone to climb a ladder and grab a shrink wrapped box from a mysteriously high shelf, etc.

There was a ritual to the whole experience that's completely missing from this modern age of posing a button on the internet and downloading your game in seconds.

364 Would love to see national companies give raises to everyone but those in Cali due to legislature. Won't happen though.

On a side note, Cali has a requirement that to raise taxes via the legislature (the other being proposition ballot measures) that it needs 2/3 of the legislature to pass.

I read somewhere that two Ds in SacTown resigned due to #metoo allegations. Which eliminated their 2/3 majority.

But this is the folly of Cali. The federal reduction in taxes for corporations has no effect on the state tax collections. Once this is known and broadcasted, I would hope a mild revolt (remember, this is Cali and weed just got legalized) will occur.

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at January 24, 2018 01:33 PM (F5+ro)

Similar setup. Three zones. One zone is on its own with the original circ pump which is not efficient - maybe half a horse. The other two zones share an '007' circ pump which I believe is 1/25th horsepower and efficient. I don't usually use the inefficient zone that often but temps were too low to chance a freeze up. So I'll just look at the bill as insurance cost.

Posted by: joncelli, nominal Lutheran at January 24, 2018 01:42 PM (RD7QR)

Oil has more BTU's per unit and is currently cheaper, although prices of both propane and oil fluctuate like crazy.

Frankly, I do get the allure of propane -- doesn't get all disgusting and ruin your oil tank and clog up your filters, burns cleaner (and cooler, can direct vent it), etc.

BUT on the flip side... if I run too low on heating oil, it's nice to be able to buy 5 gallons of diesel at the gas station in an emergency.

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at January 24, 2018 01:46 PM (F5+ro)

:rubs hands together to prepare for the Propane v Oil argument:

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at January 24, 2018 01:39 PM (F5+ro)

When it comes to BTU's/dollar, coal is King. The trend in petroleum (including natural gas) pricing is towards price based mostly on energy content. So diesel fuel is now a little costlier than gasoline, because more BTU's per gallon.
Here in western Canada, it's damned rare to see an oil furnace anymore. Cities and towns are all on natural gas, as are many rural residents, like me. Rural British Columbia still has many homes heated by propane.

470 >>You know I love and respect you, guy, but I would remind you of what happened to the IRS OIG guy and the ongoing 'lost' information.

As I've been saying for some time, the biggest untold scandal of the Obama years was what he and Holder did to all of the OIG's during his administration. He essentially neutered them by making certain information off limits to them unless the head of that department gave permission. In some case, Obama didn't even appoint and OIG for an entire department like say the State Department the entire time Hillary was in office.

The leader of the OIG group that went to Congress to fight back and get their powers restored was one Michael Horowitz, the DOJ OIG. He wasn't real happy with how he was treated by Obama and the powers were restored.

Again, Obama isn't president any longer.

Posted by: JackStraw at January 24, 2018 02:05 PM (/tuJf)

471 For those who browse the twatters for info, Sean Davis (frequently featured on the boss's feed) is a good one.

Right now he's got several up about Sen. Grassley saying DOJ *continues* to stonewall him, and therefore he is doing full criminal referral. Haven't looked for full Grassley comments (his twitter is mundane constituent and interest group piffle).

There are non-sinister explanations for all these things, but one must admit that he spectacle of Trump's DOJ and FBI not cooperating with the GOP-led committees is something. Especially interesting, to me, remains Rosenstein's reported begging and screaming like a Navajo (old, old Woody Allen joke) to Ryan to *not* hand over docs and info to Nunes' committee.
