1 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, January 20, 2018. On this day in 1942 The Germans under Hitler held the Wannsee Conference in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee, senior Nazi German officials discussed the implementation of the "Final Solution to the Jewish question".

2 Senate Democrats joined by a few DIABLOs failed to reach a spending agreement and the government shutdown last night at midnight. Of course it is not really shutdown except a few people will have pay withheld until they end this charade. The communists held out for DACA. They consider Mexican illegals more important than our service men and women.

Speaking of health I spent over 3 hours on the phone yesterday with United Healthcare who has my Supplement F insurance program. It took them three hours of bouncing me from one person to another to get all the mess straightened out the whole time with the phone in my left ear. I was thoroughly disgusted.

Understandable when heat pump/air conditioning units can't pull any heat out of the air and they have to go to the backup resistance heat. Which is like mainlining kilowatt hours.

I drove Mrs Hate to Mentor Headlands yesterday so she could take some pictures of the frozen lake. We had seen some pictures on the news of how the winds from the north had pushed the ice into some 30 foot towers right off the shore but that must be more in the city because it was a lot flatter except close to the mouth of the Grand river, and that wasn't close to 30 feet. There were some people ice skating even though the temperature was above freezing; not very smart imo unless they were wearing wetsuits and even then...

They've been bitching about how disgusting the lakefront looks since the 70s and haven't done a damn thing about it.

201 Mornin' Horde.

A question I don't have an answer to--who summoned the paramedics for the Wide Latina? Having seen what hypoglycemia can do first hand, if it was bad enough to call 911, she wasn't doing it herself, unless she had one of those Med-Alert sort of deals.

Second point, a hypoglycemic episode can, to the unfamiliar, resemble a stroke. If there was someone else there who wasn't used to this sort of thing, that could result in medics being called, as opposed to paste or pills being used to put her right without other intervention...

208 Essential: Keeping the lights on and the air going in the ISS (lives depend on this work)
Non-essential: Developing new technology for the next Orion flight test (no lives currently at stake)

I don't know about other agencies, but non-essential does not necessarily mean the work has no value.

Also, if I do get paid for the shutdown time (not guaranteed), I will do the same thing I did last time - add up how many hours that is and not record any of my extra hours on my timesheet until I've worked it off. I pay taxes too and prefer to get value for my money.

Anyway, this doesn't make me feel any more charitable toward illegal aliens. I do recognize that their countries are shitholes and many of them are just trying to make better lives for their families - but too bad. Instead of bringing your shit here, go home and try to make your country less shitty. Mexico should be fabulously wealthy given its natural resources. Why isn't it? Ponder on that while you're narrowly avoiding the door smacking you in the ass.

There were some people ice skating even though the temperature was above freezing; not very smart imo unless they were wearing wetsuits and even then...

They've been bitching about how disgusting the lakefront looks since the 70s and haven't done a damn thing about it.

235 One of the most interesting videos of the Las Vegas shooting was from a car passing Mandalay Bay Hotel. The video showed gunfire flashes from one of the low windows. There were two things which were not possible in that video: 1. The gunfire was not coming from that window; it couldn't open and wasn't broken. 2. It was not a reflection of gunfire from Paddock's suite; the angles were all wrong for that to be true. However the angles were right for it to be a reflection of a rifle being fired from the 'parking roof' by the side of the building. I am unsure how to explain that video.

I don't think Ohio's hands are free on developing the lakefront since some of the land is privately owned and there are marinas and a few individual parks. Not sure why they had to locate the Browns stadium there but there it is.

291 On this day in 1942 The Germans under Hitler held the Wannsee Conference in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee, senior Nazi German officials discussed the implementation of the "Final Solution to the Jewish question".

There's a movie about that conference, "Conspiracy," 2001, starring Kenneth Brannagh. It's available on Amazon streaming/Prime. I watched it a month ago. Most of the dialogue is probably made-up, but it's an OK movie if you're into history. It shows the "banality of evil" as someone long ago described the Nazi bureaucrats. I recommend trying it, especially if you can get watch it free with Prime.

296 Everyone talks about the swallows and Capistrano and the buzzards in Hinckley, but there's a crow thing in Hartford Ct that nobody talks about.

I'm part of the problem, I live near Hartford as a result of extremely bad life choices and I haven't looked into the phenomenon enough to say anything relevant about it.

The point is, for a couple of weeks in the fall we get shittons of crows. They just fill the bare trees at one turn on rte. 84. It's always the same turn, it's always the same time of year, and all of the crows in the world stop by that exact place on their way to doing whatever else they do.

I sure wish someone would get one of the Prog congresscritters on the telly to ask them why they're choosing to violate their oath of office for a bunch of foreign criminals and why those criminals are more important to them than their American constituents.

I'd love to see Commie Schumer try to avoid answering that one. It's times like these that almost make me wish I were a journalist.

Almost.

I'd be their worst nightmare.

Size wise, yes, but I'd bet Mayfield has a better work ethic, not that it will matter in the end. Manziel was just a pampered drunk, about which his father was very open as I'm sure he could see problems ahead.

I think we will find that Obama weaponized our IC from day one and used against every single political adversary as well as the American people writ large.
Remember what Maxine Waters said in 2013:

"Well, you know, I don't know. And I think some people are missing something here. The president has put in place an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That's going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual in ways that it's never been done before."

Posted by: chavez the hugo

I haven't read it and won't, because at this point what is written for public consumption is what they want us to think, not necessarily what is objectively factual.

It's getting to the point I don't trust any news source as all have become tainted with the spin of either CYA or push-the-narrative.

312 So Flake, Graham, Ru Paul and Lee gave Democrats cover for the shutdown by voting no. You will see McConnell also visited no but that was procedural after he knew the vote would fail.

That allowed Dems in tough reelection states to vote yes.

Ah, Republican'ts helping out the re-election prospects of their good friends in the Dim Party.

So, failure theater continues in a shabbier venue like downtown Poughkeepsie's porno theater.

This was a (probably deliberate) failure of leadership on teh Turdle's fault.

If no Republican'ts had broken rank this would be a potent weapon against the Dims coming into this year.

But...nope.

Have a couple of dried flies, turtle. You deserve it.

313 OK ~ so the leftards have shut down the United States government and have been working 24/7/365 for foreign nationals, oh, excuse me, law breaking, annoying illegal alien foreign nationals, instead of working for, you know, United States Citizens (of all races creeds and colors).

Trump's tweets are good ~ but all the right (that means ostensibly you, too GOPe) have to beat the drum incessantly on this. The democrats have put foreign countries and law breakers ahead of all US citizens. The Lefties show the GOP pushing Grandma off a cliff? WE need to run ads of US servicemen and women (preferably females of color) saying"To Chuck Schumer and the so called democrat party in Congress ~ why are you putting illegal foreign nationals ahead of us? Why aren;t you working for US citizens" Also have one showing an inner city African American, preferably in Chicago, saying the same thing ~ asking "Mr.Durbin, Mr. Schumer and all the Democrat Congressmen ~ why are you, as you actually said, working 24/7 for illegal aliens? We have problems right here, crime, drugs , gang members and people need paying jobs. Why aren't you working 24/7 for that? Why are you shutting off our government for people form other countries when we need you to work for us? I have had enough of this ~ I am voting conservative Republican this fall! ~ at least they are trying to fix the economy, fight crime and are working to get us jobs." Call your congressman.

If the RNC doesn't have these commercials ready to air right now ~ shame on them. Shame.

The truth gentlemen of the GOPe ~ it is an antidote for what ails ye and is guaranteed to kill dunks.

Someone mentioned it in an earlier
