95 Willowed from last thread ~ but bears repeating.

OK ~ so the leftards have shut down the United States government and have been working 24/7/365 for foreign nationals, oh, excuse me, law breaking, annoying illegal alien foreign nationals, instead of working for, you know, United States Citizens (of all races creeds and colors).

Trump's tweets are good ~ but all the right (that means ostensibly you, too GOPe) have to beat the drum incessantly on this. The democrats have put foreign countries and law breakers ahead of all US citizens. The Lefties show the GOP pushing Grandma off a cliff? WE need to run ads of US servicemen and women (preferably females of color) saying"To Chuck Schumer and the so called democrat party in Congress ~ why are you putting illegal foreign nationals ahead of us? Why aren;t you working for US citizens" Also have one showing an inner city African American, preferably in Chicago, saying the same thing ~ asking "Mr.Durbin, Mr. Schumer and all the Democrat Congressmen ~ why are you, as you actually said, working 24/7 for illegal aliens? We have problems right here, crime, drugs , gang members and people need paying jobs. Why aren't you working 24/7 for that? Why are you shutting off our government for people form other countries when we need you to work for us? I have had enough of this ~ I am voting conservative Republican this fall! ~ at least they are trying to fix the economy, fight crime and are working to get us jobs." Call your congressman.

If the RNC doesn't have these commercials ready to air right now ~ shame on them. Shame.

The truth ~ "gentlemen" of the GOPe ~ it is an antidote for what ails ye and is guaranteed to kill donks. And it's even popular!!!!

Oh if only we had a political party with a large presence and political apparatus, flush with cash, that operated nationally that could take up this cudgel! Where oh where could they be?

It was great. It really was. Lots and lots of people. And as always, it was a happy crowd.

I saw Evangelical Lutherans for Life, grammie! And if "Our Country is Screwed" is here, I want him to know I saw his daughter's school, Franciscan University. Also a group from THE Ohio State University, complete with a few band members.

One of the most interesting people I saw was a young woman with the kind of haircut and clothing you would expect to see at today's march instead. She held a hand-made sign that said "Post-Abortive. Pro-Life. Atheist." Pretty amazing.

I live in Manziel's original home town in East Texas, where the whole Manziel clan has been. You know how most athletes are home town hero's? He was NEVER celebrated here, because everyone here just rolls their eyes and looks up at the sky when you say "hey, did you hear the latest about the Manziel's?" Astounding that an actual athlete like him came from that line of drunken criminals. (Johnny has at least 3 very close relatives that have spent time in federal prison)

In fact, I think if anything we all feel a little sorry for Johnny; for all of his problems, he's probably the most sober and hardest working Manziel that's been seen in at least 4 generations.

(and I started hearing stories about the things his dad was up to years before Johnny was born, although of course they were never proved in court. Had something to do with the private airstrip on Manziel land which no one was allowed to go to but which had small private planes going back and forth to Mexico a couple times a week back in the 80's)

    True Metal starts with Sabbath.

378 Hadrian, you can drill out the flow restrictor in your shower head. Remove said head and look in threaded end. The plastic disc therein will have a small (1/16" or so) water passage, sometimes combined with a tiny o-ring. If there's an o-ring, pop it out, reinstall, and test. If no o-ring, use a drill bit twice the diameter of the existing hole and drill it out. You'll get nearly four times the flow (you'll also use up hot water at a much faster pace, fwiw). If head does not have rubber donut within to seal against the gooseneck, apply two or three wraps of teflon tape to the male threads (clockwise as you look at the end of the pipe) prior to reinstallation. If there is a donut, slightly beyond hand-tight is sufficient; if you have to use tape, get it wrench-tight but don't break it off... If you have a hand-held shower head, you may find a similar device at one or more of the connections.

I was on his show way back in the 90s, but I was filmed remotely speaking about this one animal species. The one time I worked with him a little was when he filmed a segment with my animals, and a bunch of us were there not to be on camera, but to wrangle the animals, and just generally set up things.

So there was down time and a little story telling. He Said something about Steve Irwin's wife almost getting bit by a snake, and how he loved the Irwins. Then he yelled out "but someday Steve IS GONNA GET KILLED!"

I always thought of that after Irwin did get killed.

As for the birth of metal...Just about everyone agrees it was the first Sabs album and see no argument with that.

As for proto-metal, "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" was an important step. And I think King Crimson's song "21st Century Schizoid Man" pre-dated the Sabs' debut by a few months. That riff was absolutely proto-metal.

420 I like Styx. It all depends on one's level of cheez tolerance. There's good cheez and bad cheez. For me, Styx falls on the good cheez side of the equation. But I'll tell you what, at the very least, Styx are a band that works hard. They really do have a blue-collar ethos. Nobody can deny, even if you don't like Styx, that they never, ever fail to put on a great show for their fans. Styx simply does not do bad shows. They're professionals to the core.

They have a new album out that is actually pretty damn good. Great, even. Against all the odds. It's a concept album about the first manned mission to Mars, recorded in analog for that 70s vinyl feel. I like it far more than I thought I would.

451 September 1977. I was 13 years old. Rush was on Don Kirchner's Rock Concert. Not appearing live but ol' Don showed all of the promo videos Rush had filmed in Wales while recording the album A Farewell to Kings.

I had HEARD of Rush but I was into Kiss and Sweet and stuff like that. For some reason I thought Rush was a local Buffalo band and they kind of were being from Toronto, and I thought it was cool that a local band was on Rock Concert.

So these three dudes with the longest hair I'd ever seen come out and they're playing classical guitars. They're playing doubleneck Rickenbacker basses They're playing mini-Moogs and orchestral bells and vibra-slaps and God knows what else and holy fucking shit my 13-year old mind was blown. They even managed to make kimonos cool. I was still struggling to learn my guitar lesson scales and chords, and the level of musicianship blew me away. Not to mention that three guys could play that many instruments and make such a full, symphonic prog-meets-metal sound.

The next day I gave all my Kiss and Sweet records to my little brothers and bought A Farewell to Kings. Remained a huge fan up through Signals or thereabouts.

468 I was very lucky to see Maiden on their very first American tour, opening for Judas Priest at Shea's Buffalo Theater.

Priest was good that night but Maiden was a revelation. They were so good it's hard to find the words. By the time they did the "Iron Maiden-gonna getcha-how near or how far" bit with Eddie the mascot, the place was going insane. It was fantastic. Metal changed that night and we all knew it. I think every single concert goer walked out that night knowing they had just seen something historic.

A few months later they fired Paul DiAnno, who was on fire that night in B-lo, and at first I hated that because he was my favorite guy in the band. But Broooooce Dickenson was waiting in the wings...

A Great Intellect who becomes a stuttering idiot when deprived of his teleprompter.

A Racial Healer who was the most racist president since Woodrow Wilson.

A Marvelous Steward of the Economy with 0-2% throughout his terms and a failing middle class.

The list goes on and on of just who Oblabla wasn't not only what he wasn't but was the polar opposite of what we'd been told.

No wonder the MSM/Our Betters/Democrat Party completely came unglued when Trump won.

That way I could cruise around the hall before, during and after the concert. It was kinda cool experience even though I never really been into music. I was always amazed at how small most were. And Linda Ronstadt , up really close, had horrible skin. I think the largest guy a came across was Plant. I'm 6'3", he must be well over 6', 6'1" 0r 6'2"

I have a pic of me and B'Gal with Carmine Appice backstage after the very first show of the New Doors tour back in '05. VF was one of the opening acts. Her son was Pat Travers' bassist on that tour (another opener).

I think metal musicians suffer a lot of cognitive dissonance if they stray into left/right politics. You can stray into fuzzy generalities and tow the leftist line in pop. But metal calls out bullshit. You must either become a hard-line collectivist totalitarian or completely appose it in your music. Or mostly avoid the subject which I'd actually prefer.

582 572 I was in a band for a while that was so bad it was impossible for us to rip anyone else off.

I was in plenty of those! But what's sad is, the last one I was in was really good and had some serious potential, which is really exciting! Unfortunately, our lead singer was an enormous asshole who nobody could work with.

By the time we were recording our debut CD, first the bass player, then the keyboard player walked.

So, I've played a fair amount of bass in my time so I could fake my way through it, with many more takes than a "real" bass player, but I could get through it. And I play piano, middlingly, so I could fake my way through the keys as well.

I was doing all the guitar parts, the bass, the keys, practically living in the studio putting in the hardest musical work of my life, and I was dtermined to see it through because we had good stuff, and the singer, despite being an asshole, was a very talented singer and songwriter. But by the time the CD was released, it was all over. The drummer walked and it all fell apart.
