lot of trust damage with my hubby, friends, and co-workers because of

219 >> What possible effect is all this talk about "s-hole" going to have on anyone?

1. The media likes this kind of stuff because it gets viewers and clicks

2. My guess is that they have teams of consultants trying to find a wedge to hurt his numbers, and nothing really works. One thing I think a lot of people do agree is that he is not "presidential" so they are hitting that hard. This falls into that category, but they do not realize that being "presidential" does not make you a good president, and us rubes understand that.

3. It is a distraction. The dems need to win the immigration battle, but what is their argument? Up till now they got away with a lot of crap that has been very damaging to *citizens* and they understand that say what you want about PDT, he will call a spade a spade and cut through all the PC bullcrap. This is a way of making his voice out of bounds and shutting down the conversation. "You say haiti is not as nice as norway --- Racist!!!!"
That is all they know and if they can not shut it down, they realize they can not win on logic, economics, compassion, sanity, etc.

The only argument for more immigration is that business owners don't want to pay full price for labor (at top and bottom ends of the wage scales) and Bloomerg needs someone to cut tend to his lawn , and the dems need voters.

In Greek mythology, the nine Muses were the daughters of Zeus by Mnemosyne, Goddess of Memory: Calliope, Terpsichore, Polyhymnia, Clio, Euterpe, Erato, Melopmene, Urania and Thalia. So yes, the word "muse" has an unmistakably feminine context.

Yes. Yes.

Go to spotify.com, and download it onto your computer. You'll need to give them a working email address, and set up an account.

Then you can search for pretty much anything under the sun. They have playlists that they've made, they have playlists that others have made, and you can make your very own. Today I was listening to one of all symphonies, and then I got a yen for Mozart, so found one that was all the Mozart music that was in Amadeus. This morning I was listening to my Motown one I made. Yesterday it was the Rat Pack.

And Christmas music - all kinds - religious, country, Rat Pack, popular, gospel, everything everything. You need this, grammie!

Posted by: Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest at January 15, 2018 08:06 PM (LWu6U)

The Democrats (and salon hot 25ers) love the idea of the President as American Royalty. They want someone they can worship, someone they can coronate, someone they can swoon over, someone that will bestow favor on them. Every Dem president they can is portrayed in a way to meet this criteria, and every GOP one is a heinous, contemptable villain, or a puppet to the true villain, and beneath the stature of the office.

They don't understand the rest of the country wants a capable executive and leader, not a romantic figure. The danger is when they convince the middle of the electorate that their vision is the more important one.

Its was Meh. Not terrible but Meh. My main beef was when they were talking about the Pirates upsetting the Yankee's in 1960. Instead of talking to some of the Pirates (Mazeroski is still alive you know), they talked to the Yankees and some famous Yankee fans. That annoyed me. Billy Crystal was bummed. So? Good! Fuck em'!

IIRC there's a plaque where home plate used to be.

633 >>Boy, this blog is a shithole.

The best part of admitting this to yourself, Ace?

Now you can ask people, "Have you seen my shithole?".

Or, invite them to, "take a look at my shithole. I think you'll like it.".

634 Pennsylvania anthracite coal has high levels of valuable rare earth elements that we currently (foolishly) import from China.

A plan afoot to mine the coal.

Cheap energy, recover technologically vital (high priced) elements, and plug a giant national security gap.

Win, win, win.

636 I was just watching the second season of Stranger Things and the dick-weed California kid with the Z-28 called Hawkins a shithole. I guffawed.

BTW, the kid playing the California douche has got to be a bastard son of Rob Lowe. Has to be. They can deny all they want (no way, totally different last name and shit), but dayum!

esp after watching the LBJ movie, it was really McNamara's war.

640 You think so? It's been a long time since I used either one, but the Haynes motorcycle manuals were pretty superficial.

When I think of after-market automotive manuals, I think of Motors. which were pretty thorough.

Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at January 15, 2018 09:49 PM (w1zJX)

I was thinking auto manuals, not motorcycle. Haynes auto manuals: large format, more pages, better illustrations. They used to say that each manual was based on a complete teardown/reassembly of an entire automobile by master mechanics.

P.S. Re: Motorcycle manuals, in olden times, for serious work I would end up with all that were available, Haynes, Clymer and the odd service bulletin, maybe.
The only "Factory" manual I have is for 250/350 Yamaha 69-75. I'm a compulsive reader of techy stuff anyway.
