5 In case you missed it yesterday HI's emergency management technicians while doing shift change checks pushed the wrong button and initiated a statewide inbound missile alert notification causing people all over the State to have to change their drawers. The more I think about it, last Tuesday's White House meeting was not only about exploding the myths pimped by that Michael Wolff book, which it did, but it was Trump's way of destroying DACA/Amnesty by exposing what both parties are trying to do, or force him to do.

America is not owned by Americans and their children but is instead held by people all over the globe, according to a statement from amnesty advocate Sen. Lindsey Graham.
______________________

Miss Lindsey is a blithering idiot.

American ideals -- liberty, justice, self-governance, rule of law, etc. -- are indeed aspirations which many persons around the globe claim as their own too.

That does not mean that the United States, a sovereign nation for which generations of Americans fought, sacrificed, and died, belongs to the world. There is a HUGE difference between the ideals that inspired the founding of the nation, and the nation itself.

The fact that Graham, a so-called representative of some of this nation's people, does not understand that, is deeply troubling.

And if "the world" really respected ideals like
"the rule of law" and "justice" and "fairness," then the United States would not be continually inundated with millions of foreigners coming here illegally and living here illegally and violating all sorts of tax and fraud and other laws here, while taking advantage of U.S. taxpayers to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars every year.

They have got to keep something in order to stir up the base and generate $$$ because their blue tidal wave just petered out. If the economic news keeps up this way into the fall, Republicans are guaranteed a wave and might get to 60 in the Senate.

I was reading a blog infested by lefties and noticed a comment by one particular nasty liberal. he was whining about Trump's tax cut and how it is going to hurt the dems this fall and they need to somehow make it go away so it doesn't make middle of the road dems vote for Republicans.

___________________

He understands the governing principles (in theory). What Graham doesn't get is that those principles can be applied in other countries. They don't just "live" here in the U.S.

Graham apparently thinks that the only way that people outside the U.S. can get access to ideals like "liberty" or "the rule of law" or "self-governance" is to come and live in the U.S.

And of course, that's ridiculous. Graham acts like the U.S. has somehow "captured" these concepts and is keeping them prisoner here, preventing the rest of the world from having access to them, unless they come here.

The light that the Statue of Liberty is holding was supposed to symbolize that the U.S. was showing the rest of the world the way. Not the way to the shores of the U.S. (as it has since been interpreted by ignorant lefties), but the way to achieve liberty in their own lands.[\i] The idea was that the U.S. would be the example to the rest of the world of how they could achieve freedom too -- not that everybody else in the world would come to the U.S.

That is my experience also, krak. If it's work related, there has to be a resolution one way or another. The not knowing on my last job if I would even have a job in a week was causing me to wake up at all hours of the night and then would take a while to get back to sleep. There was alcohol involved some nights in an attempt to stay asleep (awful yep but meh) and others I'd hit some Tylenol PM. But it has resolved itself, I've moved on, and I'm sleeping through the night again. Just saying, if it's work-related, in my case, it would have been better to rip the band-aid off and know rather than not. Hope you get some good sleep somehow soon.

First, he is transgender. This is a big plus. We don't really know if he has changed sex; he might just be cross-dressing.

Secondly, he has military service. This is also a big plus since so many democrat candidates don't have military service.

Third, he stole military secrets and gave them - sold them - published them. This makes him a hero of the Democrat party.

Fourth, He has Obama's support.

Most people don't know that moving out of a house and leaving it vacant for any amount of time voids homeowners insurance.

215 Out of Many, One. Diversity has always been our strength, not our weakness.

---

The United States is not strong because it is diverse. It is a strong country when the people are united in a common cause. It is weakened when the people are divided by competing ideals. The country is diminished when groups seek to divide the country into factions and set one faction upon another. 'Diversity' is a slogan used to create division among the people and sow disunity and discord.

yes, in a sense France stated the Bush Doctrine (or an original version) about spreading "Republicanism" to the world. It was mostly by example back then, but we later incorporated our military to that phrase.

Covertly we used the CIA to accomplish that, but things got a little messy at that point. We made deals with guys like Ghadaffi that were not perfect but held their countries together in useful ways.

But the globalists have taken control and plot with their shadow people. They want to extinguish that lamp of liberty, and use the iron fist.

"This land is my land, this land is your land" refers to Americans, not the world. Bring some through Ellis Island based on merit, and at a pace they will become American. No more little Mogadishu, no more Spanish speaking towns. No more La Raza judges.

252 Regarding immigration and sh1thole countries, the Progressives are back to the tactic of pushing the slogan on the Statue of Liberty: Give us your poor, etc.

PDT should call their bluff and say: OK, from now on we'll only admit dirt poor, uneducated, sick people over age 50, from the 20 lowest GDP nations. After all, they need the most help, don't they? No more visas or green cards for engineers and programmers, and no work visas for healthy young people who could mow grass and clean hotel rooms. Do you think anyone on the left would object?

255 Just read an article a few days ago on using some cheap amber glasses to help you sleep better....

Windows 10 has a display setting that changes the color from brilliant bluish white (whites) to amber/yellowish (whites). The claim is the blue/white keep you awake. The dimmer amber/white helps you slow down like a pseudo sunset.

Hasn't worked for me.

256 Krak - After a long stint being self-employed, I had a similar problem. I'd wake up thinking about some issue or dream about work. This is what finally worked for me.

Try to have a set schedule. Whether or not you are tired, go to bed. When you go to bed, lights out and no phone or reading or anything else. Just lie on the pillow and listed to yourself breathe. Whether or not you are tired, wake up at the same time. Don't 'sleep in'. Don't nap during the day. And try to eat healthy, no junk food. In essence, force your circadian rhythm to adjust.

A little excercise or meditation works well too.

270 " ... it was Trump's way of destroying DACA/Amnesty by exposing what both parties are trying to do, or force him to do.
Is that a stretch? In any case, whether intentional or not, that is in fact what PDT did do. Posted by: J.J. Sefton

I think he wanted the optics of him agreeing that DACA is "good", knowing that the masses only understand generalities.

NOW that is being countered with the "but first you will blow me". Meaning, before Trump can have DACA, he must give up on all future enforcement efforts, and accept open borders.

DACA is "popular", but so is very limited legal immigration, and NO illegal immigration.

By using the "shithole" term (though Trump says that was not his actual term) ... it placed the whole unpopular open borders and diversity lie back in the forefront. In the end I think the voters get to decide in 2018, assuming Ryan/McConnell don't surrender.

I doubt Trump masterminded every tidbit ... the shithole comment is just how Trump talks saying completely logical things. The MFM makes it into proof of racism, to not bring in the third world.

280 If you're elected to public office in America, your JOB is to represent the best interests of your constituents - the citizens of your state/district. If you cannot do this, if you think you have a higher calling to represent people here illegally or 'people all over the world', you need to RESIGN RIGHT NOW, because you're not doing your job.

Posted by: lily at January 14, 2018 09:17 AM (necfI)

281 Here are my top five to help you sleep.
Limit caffeine, e,g. most soda, chocolate, tea, some sweets, and Mr. Big. Even decaf has some caf in it. While you at it limit all sweets for your pancreas will thank you. There some among us who are now called stumpy.

Exercise doing the day. Something, especially when daylight is short. Exercise will flush the blood of most toxins and worries. It's the best to fight the toils and troubles of any day. If able get exercise outside in sunlight. Sunlight, exercise and breathing cleans the mind and body in an unique way. By exercise I mean a cardiovascular workout. E.g., long runs, swims or bike rides, but many pushups and situps will do.

Eat well. One meat, one starch and one vegetable. Keep that starch limited. No more sweets, none, wait did I tell I was a hypocrite and who can eat just one bowl of spaghetti.

Clean sheets and shower one hour before bed. Then stop the noise, self chatter, and dim the lights. Yes this blog counts. You mind needs a cooldown. Sleep is nothing more than the big daily defrag. No lights and noise when attempting to sleep. Hard drives can't be used if a defrag is running. Before each sleep event, pray to the running water God who is the savior of the west. There is really on one God. Speaking of running water, empty that bladder.

The above if practiced for 21 days will become habits, There are good habits which make a good life. You know about the bad ones. If still unable to sleep, try a glass of warm milk, not chocolate milk. If still unable the there is benadryl, 25 mg. It not only keeps your upper congestion at bay, but will put you down. But this should be the last resort for benadryl will lead to dependency (another bad habit). Only be dependent on what your MD orders for you will last longer than most. I take benadryl when I shift my circadian, e.g. getting off work nights to live in daylight. Sweet dreams, SgtPete

I'm feeling fine. There's nothing new to report. The only side effect I've noticed so far is that the Keytruda seems to have made my psoriasis worse. The doctor says that's a known side effect, since it's boosting my immune system and psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. It's unsightly, but apart from that it doesn't really bother me. I have some cream to put on it that doesn't seem to do much.

I've had three treatments so far, and each time they check my weight and do a blood test. My weight has been holding steady and nobody has said anything about the blood work. The next treatment is on Thursday and I will ask the doctor if he has seen anything that concerns him.

I've seen where some people have asked how I was doing. I work weekdays and usually only have time for a quick hit-and-run comment now and then. I don't always see comments directed at me until later. I hope nobody thinks I'm ignoring them.

315 Subscribe to the most monotonous, boring podcast you can find that features a single male voice that goes for a couple of hours. Leo Laporte's The Tech Guy is a great example. Very little is said that is important, there's no music or commercials and Leo's voice is very soothing while saying almost nothing.

Put small in-ear earbuds in your ears. You can sleep while laying on small earbuds.

Turn the audio down until you can barely hear it. I mean one click up from being off.

This trick puts me out in about five minutes, if that. I can't tell you how often I've awakened several hours later. The podcast is long over and I've been asleep.

Additionally, the earbuds double as silencing devices should there be random noises in the house that tend to wake you up, like the heater or air conditioning turning on.

By the way, a great podcast app for the iPhone is iCatcher. Way better that that "Podcast" app Apple employs.

Posted by: ploome at January 14, 2018 06:00 PM (vzZKT)

328 Since getting hit by an urban taxi when I was six years old, I have been prone to flight or flight attacks, but ONLY when under extreme durress.

During adulthood, I had a doozie, followed by months of not sleeping, circular thoughts, etc. etc. A young doctor helped me by recommending an older anti-Depressant called clomipramine. It isn't addictive, and since then I haven't had a flight or fight. Also, I sleep like a baby. Clomipramine comes in generic, and if your pharmacy charges an enormous price, there are discounts available with a google search.

329 Ever eat carbs at lunch and felt sleepy a couple of hours later? Try eating a starchy food about an hour before bed. Baked potato...no potato chips...or pasta...white bread. Zzzzzzzzz

330 Stretching before bed helps
When in bed, if your mind is spinning out of control, count backwards from 1000 by threes. It orders your thought and promotes a quick fall off to sleep.

331 I'm the queen of insomniacs! Here is my advice learned over decades of insomnia:

Alcohol, though wonderful to lull you to sleep just makes it worse. After an hour or two, it wears off and you just wake up an need more, and more and progressively more as the years go by. It becomes an expensive sleep aid and you feel it in the morning.

Regular exercise is very important

but most important...(drumroll)

Drink chamomile tea... find a good one, they don't all work..I like to buy the chamomile tablets, which I keep by my bed.

And most important is.....melatonin. I keep 10 mg tablets by my bed. I take 3 at a time. I wake up when they wear off, (last 2-3 hours, just like alcohol) and take more. You have to lie still for awhile and you will drift off to sleep without even realizing it, just like normal people do. I have no idea if that dosage is good for you or not, I'm afraid to look it up and frankly, I don't care.

332 Oh, one more thing: the best part about melatonin is, unlike alcohol or just about any other "calming" vitamins or sleep aids, you feel absolutely normal in the morning. To an insomniac, that is a strange and wonderful feeling.

Chamomile is good, very good. But melatonin is the clear winner.

333 Viktor Frankl in his book "Man's Search for Meaning" suggests a cure for insomnia. He suggests when you are lying in bed trying to sleep that you instead try to stay awake. This has worked as a cure for me numerous times.
