The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg"Everybody is all up in Jeff Session's grill about doing nothing except afternoon naps while the Democrat wrecking crew is running around scot free and unindicted. So what we need to do is float a rumor that Bill, Hillary, Obama, Huma, Comey, and Mueller all like to smoke weed with those IT guys from Pakistan. Then I'd bet you'd see the lot of them arrested, convicted, and perp-walked into some federal PMITA prison within a fortnight."

SCIENCE!

science - women are stronger.jpg

Now this is interesting. It's a piece from 15 years ago, but it shows how upset public officials get when they realize that the rules they impose on others can be used on them:

Back in March, the [Portland, OR] police swiped the trash of fellow officer Gina Hoesly. They didn't ask permission. They didn't ask for a search warrant. They just grabbed it. Their sordid haul, which included a bloody tampon, became the basis for drug charges against her.

The news left a lot of Portlanders--including us--scratching our heads. Aren't there rules about this sort of thing? Aren't citizens protected from unreasonable search and seizure by the Fourth Amendment?

Naturally, the city of Portland's position is, "what do you mean garbage is protected under 4A? Don't be absurd."

Multnomah County...Prosecutor Mark McDonnell says that once you set your garbage out on the curb, it becomes public property.

Willamette Week, a lefty "alt-weekly" of the type that you can find in most big cities decided to test this theory by going through the trash of Portland's District Attorney, Police Chief, and Mayor, and publishing what they found. After all, it's public property, right? Isn't that the position of Portland's officials?

And you wouldn't believe how they reacted. Well, maybe you would. Read the linked article. Their outragey outrage and hints of possible legal action makes it a fun read. Especially the mayor, who squealed like a stuck pig. I'm just surprised there's something I can find common cause with progressives..

Not strength but survival, and no indication of any other factors that might have influenced that survival rate, so I'm throwing the BS flag.

I suspect nearly all the factors are externalities, like men being more likely to have been worked to death, giving up whatever supplies they might have had to give to the wimmin and children, and being more likely to be exposed to disease and less likely to be taken care of if they contracted it.

54 The law assumes that each lawyer in a case has an ethical requirement to
present all of the evidence available for their side of the case.
However any lawyer can "take a dive" by failing to do so. A case like
the executive order case ruling may not be the fault of the judge -
since a judge can only consider the evidence presented by the attorneys
in the case when making a ruling.

Any first year law student
could have won that case for the government by correctly arguing that
the judge lacks the authority to keep a President from issuing an
executive order rescinding a previous executive order. No judge wants to
be overruled 9-0 by the Supreme Court - which is what will happen given
competent council at that level.

A number of EPA attorneys
dumped easily winnable lawsuits during the Obama administration in order
to fund Watermelon environmentalists with tax money. And, these Bizarre
rulings by Federal judges can only be happening because US Attorneys
are intentionally sabotaging President Trump by their half-assed effort
in court.

Or that husbands die younger because they want too (Just the punchline)

132 APA Calls for End to 'Armchair' Psychiatry

Today, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) reiterates its continued and unwavering commitment to the ethical principle known as "The Goldwater Rule." We at the APA call for an end to psychiatrists providing professional opinions in the media about public figures whom they have not examined, whether it be on cable news appearances, books, or in social media. Armchair psychiatry or the use of psychiatry as a political tool is the misuse of psychiatry and is unacceptable and unethical.

The ethical principle, in place since 1973, guides physician members of the APA to refrain from publicly issuing professional medical opinions about individuals that they have not personally evaluated in a professional setting or context. Doing otherwise undermines the credibility and integrity of the profession and the physician-patient relationship. Although APA's ethical guidelines can only be enforced against APA members, we urge all psychiatrists, regardless of membership, to abide by this guidance in respect of our patients and our profession.

A proper psychiatric evaluation requires more than a review of television appearances, tweets, and public comments.

As others noted, factors other than male vs female physical attributes might be responsible. If they really want to find out, they should conduct experiments designed to narrow down the factors to the merely physical, for example if women have a better immune system. Not sure what slavery has to do with it either, especially as they look at freed slaves.

Also, as anyone who played a role playing game knows, strength =/= endurance. Totally separate counter.

Also, I may have been planning on putting garbage in that empty receptacle, but from the selfish, antisocial actions of a complete stranger, I no longer can.

239 Actually, the scam is even better...
Most of the time they never made it to court... the EPA would settle the law suit... because they did not pay the fine, the Taxpayer does...
Its like the IRS Lois Lerner stuff... the lawsuit was settled... no one was fired... only the Taxpayer lost"

And it gets better & better - there are many documented cases where the Regulator who approved this settlement would then retire from the EPA and immediately go to work for the outfit that received the settlement money, and IMMEDIATELY receive a $500,000.00 Bonus Payment out of the money that he had approved of them getting.

Almost like they had all the payment details, including his personal payoff, worked out in advance. Imagine that. Oh, but the EPA has never been Corrupt, oh no.

246 That strip of land between your sidewalk and the street is not public property.

It is your property with a public right-of-way assigned to it.

Now, you ask, what's the difference? Well, you have to cut the grass, shovel the snow, otherwise maintain it. Utilities have the right to utilize it. Gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone, whomever. They are SUPPOSED to restore the ground to the condition it was in before they dug it up, but your results may vary.

Also, the public can traipse across it, and swipe your garbage from it, and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it.

As far as the fact that it sucks that we have to maintain these strips, basically for someone else: that is true on the surface, but imagine for a moment what our neighborhoods would look like if everybody said, "F*ck it. Not my yard," and left it go. I'll mow it.

Posted by: rickb223

_________

I had to learn my lesson on that.

Thinking I would save some money by burning a large amount of papers I had instead of getting them shredded, I put them in a steel tub and made fire.

What a huge mess that made. Papers and ash flying everywhere. And not all were burned. Just a lot of cleanup in my yard.

I'm sure if you live out in the sticks and can get a nice big bonfire going, it's a different story, but if its a big amount of papers, it can get messy.

343 I guess I'm one of the minority that thinks Sessions is operating an internal investigation into the DOJ and as a subset, the FBI and various other alphabet agencies. As a result, he needs time to complete what is turning out to be a massive infiltration by political ideologues. Trump is stalling and drawling out the Mueller special council cadre. He has no intention of ending it. It's a perfect set up to give Sessions the time he needs to get all the pieces.

So, IMO, Sessions and likely a very select group of trusted investigators is hard at work internally and it is a Sword of Damocles strategy which will fall hard at some point, and right on someone's fragile little neck. It's obvious that the Clinton machine is very concerned...hence the reconciliation of Huma and Weiner.

344 Re women being stronger than men: my first inkling that the WaPo was full of crap was back in the early '80's, I think. They published an article in the sports section about how women were improving their sprinting and racing times so much that within a few years they would start beating men. Even as a fairly apolitical youngster I remember thinking the author was clearly delusional. Yes, women's track and field records were being set by larger margins than men were setting new records, but I recognized that at a certain point women would peak out and then the improvements would be very incremental and in line with men's improvements in racing times. At no point would women ever be able to actually beat men.

If you trace the usual case of identity theft you'll find a bank accepting a forgery and refusing to accept the consequences for having done so. ( Banks are liable if they accept forgeries ). Almost all of the consequences of Identity theft for you as an individual can be traced back to a bank shirking its responsibility and putting the onus on the individual to take the consequences in the bank's place.
