Steve Bannon Out at Breitbart?

Drudge, a Bannon foe, blares:

The article doesn't say he's out, but they report that board members of Breitbart.com are considering pushing him out.

The big problem is that Bannon directed Breitbart.com to be all-in on Trump -- and now he's at war with Trump, and the White House is even saying Breitbart should "consider" firing him.

President Donald Trump’s growing feud with Steve Bannon is threatening the former White House strategist’s leadership of the conservative Breitbart News website...

Mr. Bannon's longtime benefactors, billionaires Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah Mercer, are actively distancing from him even before the expected release of Michael Wolff's book...

They and other Breitbart News Network LLC board members on Thursday were debating whether to oust Mr. Bannon as chairman, with many supportive of the move, according to a person familiar with the exchanges. Among the considerations are Breitbart's contractual relationships with other entities, including Sirius XM radio, that involve Mr. Bannon....

Asked Thursday whether Breitbart should oust Mr. Bannon, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said: "I certainly think that it's something they should look at and consider."

For his part, Bannon recently did some fence mending by stating that he still "supports" Trump and considers him a "great man." But he hit Trump in two ways Trump will be unlikely to forgive: he added to the Russian Collusion narrative, so that Jake Tapper (and others) can now say "even Steve Bannon says this was treasonous," and Trump is very, very pissed off about this whole ginned-up Deep State strike.

And he also knocked Trump's kids, allegedly, who are probably among the few people Trump really cares about.

ALL they talk about is DC.. and the people in it... its almost like the rest of the world only exists when it interacts with DC.

Like the Iran stories.... almost every story about the protests in Iran talked more about OUR Politicians, then what was happening there...

27 I don't know what to think. I initially thought Bannon was a good influence on Trump, keeping him leaning right, and the attacks on him from the GOPe were because he threatened the status quo and I liked that. Recently though, he does seem to be a bit un-hinged, even more so than even PDJT in all his crazy tweeting glory. The Roy Moore debacle was ugly, even if fashioned out of whole cloth. I definitely think Bannon has committed unpardonable sins in Trump's eyes, and any influence he had with Trump is now long gone. And I agree with what many commenters were saying in earlier threads, Bannon has brought enormous discredit on the House of Andrew Breitbart, who is one of my personal heroes. I guess, fuck him and his hobo hygiene.

31 Don't see the basis for your last line, ace. Easy to agree that going after someone's kids usually generates a nukyler response in 99% of the populace, but see no reason to say Trump doesn't care about anyone else.

We're so far past the Galactic Stupidity Threshold, as a country, that of course it's pointless to point out that the entirety of the infamous Don Jr. meeting with the Russian lawyer is known, and the only dubious parts of it are the fact that the Russki was connected to Fusion GPS (she went directly from being with them to the meeting), and that she was admitted to the US on a parole basis, which is a visa requiring some fancy footwork and indulgence by DHS/DOJ.

I would have had a lower-wattage response to Bannon, but regardless it will be nearly forgotten before you know it.

As for the "among the few people Trump really cares about" comment, I think that is a bit unfair. In fact, one could argue he cares more about the people of the country than most of us do.

81 Dunno if Bannon's campaign to replace useless with more useful GOP senators/congressmen amounts to anything, but somebody needs to be doing it.

The fates have dialed up an extremely favorable set of circumstances for the mid-terms. The WH is in a position to improve those further over the next 8 months. But a significant portion of the Beltway GOP is as opposed to Trump's very popular agenda as are the dimmest Dems. GOP doesn't change, Trump is hobbled to a level far below his potential to help the world.

82 Also from Fox, as part of the negotiation with DOJ last night Bill Priestap who was the head of the Counter Intel division of the FBI under Comey and Strzok's boss, will testify before Congress this month.

When Comey testified to Congress early last year he told Congress the reason the FBI didn't tell Congress about their investigation into the Trump campaign team when they began the investigation in 2016 was because the head of the Counter Intel group recommended not to do so because it was too sensitive. That was Priestap.

If Trump delivers on his key promises, and generally continues on his present course, with consequent positive economic impact, stuff like this will count for nothing with most voters.

99 I find the Russia thing really hard to follow. But if I understand correctly, and I might not, the Russians apparently have evidence that Hillary Clinton and Barack committed criminal, possibly treasonous, acts. The Russians may have tried to pass that evidence on the Donald Trump. Hence Trump is guilty of treason.

Posted by: Buzzion at January 04, 2018 06:47 PM (lKs2v)

101 I don't like the idea of the WH suggesting so and so gets fired from their job.

Really it seems the bowing and scraping to please the president started in earnest with Obama.

Our Roman Senate did the same thing as the OG Romans and ceded most of their authority to the executive branch and the bureaucracy so this is what happens. Also a result of how it's easier to report on what a single person is doing (the Prez) than actually taking the time to follow 535 congressmen.

Not that Bannon is an angel here. My first thought was what in the fuck are you doing talking to the media? For God's sake when are people on our side going to learn to stop talking to these asshats?

From the look of him, I'd have to guess Bannon has a serious problem with alcohol. That would account for some of the wilder statements he made.

I also thought he will get canned at Breitbart. We're not in a forgiving mood for people crossing the president.

One thing I think is important here is that the source material for all of this outrage is coming from a profession weasel.

Posted by: Dack Thrombosis at January 04, 2018 06:48 PM (4ErVI)

102 for whatever reason I never knew much about Bannon. He was at Breitbart but not out front, and even in the campaign he wasn't really a campaigner ... he was the "behind the scenes guy".

Stephen Miller is the force in the White House that hopefully still has a lot of influence, and he writes great speeches.

But there are a lot of balls to juggle. Shutting down (and locking up?) Mueller and those still attempting the "coup" -- would help a lot. Still lotsa purging to do on the inside.

103 One thing we all know is Trump cares about himself (just like we all care about ourselves), and now his success is tied to the success of the United States.

That is a good thing.

America's founders talked all sorts of trash about each other, and had huge egos. Thank God for it too or there would have been no United States.

Only Never Trumpers seem to be hung up on the idea that leaders need to be humble men who tell everyone how vulnerable they are, how they love everyone, etc.

He sort of reminds me of Otis on Andy Griffith. Sad!

I do hope he gets sued for causing the fracas and giving the neverTrumpers and dims cause to celebrate. On the other hand, I don't give a shite, so there's that.

O/T: My darling flying monkeys! Congradulations on the new cookbook! So impressed! Well done! I do hope someone mentioned wookie cookies! xoxo

P.S. While I don't comment much anymore, when The Hag finally gets her justice I will be back in the excitement. Meanwhile, am monitoring the situation of flights to Gitmo with hope and cheer for 2018.

Happy New Year, Morons and 'ettes! xoxo

I am in a slap fight on Twitter with some asshat who is absolutely convinced that Trump had no intention of winning.

Let it simmer for a year while he advanced a major domestic policy or two and realigned foreign expectations of US behavior. Then step up the purge. The year has passed.

Plot events out on a timeline and view it at a high level. Match it with coordinated press leaks. Notice the whole series of false press leaks in the early months that appears to have been intended to trap moles and leakers (a medium-level counterintelligence trick).

I did think Trump looked shocked at winning...not because he thought he'd lose, but just overwhelmed with relief and the realization that he beat The Hag like a whipped mule, the MSM, the polls, the pundits, the voter hacking and all the rest. It was surreal for all, including myself.

SteveOReno - there are a couple approved by the NRA Competition Division for match use in the U.S. - Silver Mountain and Hex Systems. They use microphones on the target frame to plot the impact of the bullet. For a variety of reasons I don't particularly like them for match use but they're perfect for casual shooting. The downside is the price - about $3k each. Another alternative are any number of wireless camera based systems which aren't as accurate as the acoustic systems, but also good for plinking.

324 310 SteveOReno - there are a couple approved by the NRA Competition Division for match use in the U.S.

390 Re 333 Warai-otoko

That is what I would be telling him. From his NYC developer/celebrity/tabloid days, Trump and his lawyers know how to frame an NDA.

If Bannon wants a second act, he will have his lawyer issue a carefully worded statement that the writer took things out of context, mumble mumble, that he was misunderstood, mumble mumble, and of course feels that with what has come out that Trump's family was setup by evil Dems and then blackout until 2020 or so.

The real shame is that a lot of really bright guys in Republican administrations or in Congress keep blabbing to reporters--they are not your friends and are leftist dems. Maybe it is validation or something that you have power.

Harry Truman said it best about press coverage in less polarized times for the media, "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."

393 Someone earlier in the thread, wanted to know whether Bannon was "Brutus" or "Kurtz".

Those of us subjected to reading books in the 20th century know that it was neither.

Brutus of "Et tu, Brutus" fame was, finally---- if you think about it, just an afterthought from a disappointed father.

The statement in the Heart of Darkness about the hidden hero who everybody was excited about for awhile was, ultimately, "Mistah Kurtz, he dead." But that's not it either,

It was Alcibiades, (Socrates' favorite) about whom they said that in a fight "He bites, like a woman."

To which he (supposedly replied, "No, like a Lion!!")--A weak, lame cover, actually, that didn't quite work. After which he split to offer his services to, I think it was Darius, but I might have been absent from class that day.

If one really wants to know, Bannon, (and anybody else who really cares to), can easily "look it up," and can quickly check out how that adventure in Persia worked out for Alcibiades. It did not, as I remember , "work out as expected."

I can still remember fragments from being with my grandmother while she watched it. I was somewhere between 1-5 years old at the time but I can almost remember the opening for sure and flashes here and there.

398 The "fued" between Trump/Mercer vs. Bannon allows Bannon to go after Rino's in the future for nationalist candidates while Trump/Mercer can distance themselves to keep money coming in and not buring bridges with members in Congress to get shit done.

It's manufactured like pro wrestling.

Maybe, it's supposed to get up to 7 or 8 above this weekend and it will actually feel great. I do allot of outdoor activities so your body does get used to it. Not to say that there's times it doesn't suck taking the dog out for a walk in the dark at 28 below WITHOUT windchill factor. So when you get used to the cold, what other people would consider really cold feels great! If that makes sense.

401 Re 385,
Yep. Look for pressure using wedge issue votes on Heitkamp, Manchin, and other folks from red states as well. Their votes on the individual mandate and tax bill are going to come up in 2018 if the economy keeps roaring. You will probably see some energy bills that force these red state Dems to choose between voters and campaign donors as well. And the CCW reciprocity bill is in part designed to squeeze red state Dem senators as well.

For example, if you were this new senator and liked your job from AL, would you vote to shutdown the government over DACA and funding a border wall?

The job of the majority leader is a bit misunderstood--Robert Caro's Master of the Senate best characterizes it--the majority leader's job is to keep the senators on his side happy--Susan Collins, Ernst, and others did not want to face reporters every day questioning them about a Moore ethics investigation nor go to the voters with this in 2018. I'm sure that they were happy to see Moore lose. That is also why Schumer probably made Franken walk the plank to remove him being an issue for other Dem senators in 2018.

406 Nothing but a total Trump ruse to let the corrupt, leftist media go in a frenzy and ease the minds of the real Russia Collusionist, ie, HRC, POTUS #44 (AKA: The Black Jesus) and the DNC . Classic Trump trolling

407 370 The GOP didn't do themselves any favors by running Moore but when the race was down to two, the GOP sabotaged their own guy. Moore's loss is directly attributable to their buffoonery.
Posted by: CrotchetyOldJarhead

_______

When the race was down to two, Bannon decided to do everything he could to make Moore win, the same guy that supported nonsense like criminalizing homosexuality.

All to be a middle finger to the his old boss Trump.

410 Trump seems to be dedicated to fixing America. With that in mind, I have no choice but to believe that he cares about ME more than he cares about himself. Sure he'll defend his kids, we all would, but darnit, don't imply that Trump doesn't care about regular old Americans because he seems to be the first one I've seen that looks genuine at least pretending to.
