NFL Ratings Fall at Faster Pace in 2017 Than in 2016

At Instapundit, an excerpt from a WSJ article about the once mighty league's fall.

The 2016 season's ratings fell 8% from 2015's. But 2017's ratings fell almost 10%, 9.7%, from 2016's already-lower ratings.

As Instapundit says, "Get woke, go broke."

That's something of a local story here.

I guess part of the tax legislation no longer allows the deduction for a PSL at University of Louisville games. There was weeping and gnashing of teeth that those licenses were no longer deductable. Sounded like a pretty big chunk of change.

It's no different, yet these yobs can't grasp that we are not at a concert, movie, game etc. to hear theirs. Their opinion has no more validity (in fact less in many cases like lecturing on MMGW etc.) than mine or the guy eating next to me. Shut the fuck up and do your job. Coincidentally I went to their website the other day because I was wondering what tv stations they have in my city. They have the NBC, Fox, and CW affiliates.

I haven't noticed much difference between their news coverage and that of the other local news channels, but most of the local news guys seem to be fairly balanced so as not to piss off half their audiences.

Exactly. Those shopping channels would disappear without being bundled. Most of the stuff out there, people don't want but are paying for because they're forced to. If I could pick ala carte cable, I'd have maybe 5 channels: MLB, and a handful of others. I never watch anything else. We dumped the movie channels long ago and don't miss them at all. I never watch network. When I do watch, its usually either How Its Made or something "on demand" like Jay Leno's Garage, not when its live.

If I couldn't watch any of that stuff? Meh. Eventually Amazon or Netflix will pick them up and I can watch a season.

Word. When I took up residence in my current lodgings I got an HD antenna for the nice big "smart TV" that also hooks up to my wireless network. Between streaming and digital subchannels I'm pretty much good to go for what TV viewing I do. (I am forced to admit Svenghoulie has become regular Saturday viewing...)

Wiki has a list of Sinclair stations--it's heavily south and midwest, as well as stuff like Comet and Charge! thrown in for measure.

At least with a book or movie you can suspend disbelief and convince yourself to take an interest in the conflict. Also, the achievements seem dubious. 329 I never understood the hype about football much. But then Kirby Smart began coaching Georgia. My husband talked and talked about it so much, I began to watch. First, mainly, because Kirby is so animated. I find him very entertaining.

Then I began to watch how determined these young men are. I listened to how they kept saying they don't listen to what the likes of ESPN thinks of them. I saw the mind set and found that interesting too. I began to watch with hubby. And I have to say, it's pretty cool watching a team that supposedly has no chance of winning over and over, win.

At first hubby was happy I was watching with him. Now I aggravate him. Lol.

Of course we have to wait and watch it later when someone uploads it on youtube because we cut the cord.

I come from a whole family of jocks - every sport, they're all crazy about. And I mean the paint your face wear weird hats kind of jocks. You are boycotting because you feel the process is not fair. Not all conferences are equal. It's not even close. Start with the size and speed of the O and D lines and the depth. Look what schools have the best recruits. Look at the states where most of these recruits come from. Look at the size and speed of linebackers and running backs and The depth.

The South produces The best talent in high school football.
