Congressional Investigators Find Evidence That FBI Had Evidence of Crimes Committed by Hillary Clinton and Her Cronies, But Chose to Sweep It Under the Carpet
We assumed this, but now there's documentary evidence for it.
Speaking of Hillary's IT guy -- Andrew C. McCarthy says it's time for the FBI to give him the same sort of pressure Mueller's giving Trump aides, and get him to flip on Hillary and her crew.
Republicans on key congressional committees say they have uncovered new irregularities and contradictions inside the FBI's probe of Hillary Clinton's email server. For the first time, investigators say they have secured written evidence that the FBI believed there was evidence that some laws were broken when the former secretary of State and her top aides transmitted classified information through her insecure private email server, lawmakers and investigators told The Hill. That evidence includes passages in FBI documents stating the "sheer volume" of classified information that flowed through Clinton’s insecure emails was proof of criminality as well as an admission of false statements by one key witness in the case, the investigators said. The name of the witness is redacted from the FBI documents but lawmakers said he was an employee of a computer firm that helped maintain her personal server after she left office as America's top diplomat and who belatedly admitted he had permanently erased an archive of her messages in 2015 after they had been subpoenaed by Congress. The investigators also confirmed that the FBI began drafting a statement exonerating Clinton of any crimes while evidence responsive to subpoenas was still outstanding and before agents had interviewed more than a dozen key witnesses. Those witnesses included Clinton and the computer firm employee who permanently erased her email archives just days after the emails were subpoenaed by Congress, the investigators said. Lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee who attended a Dec. 21 closed-door briefing by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe say the bureau official confirmed that the investigation and charging decisions were controlled by a small group in Washington headquarters rather the normal process of allowing field offices to investigate possible criminality in their localities. The Clinton email server in question was based in New York.
As 2018 beckons, it has me thinking about Paul Combetta -- the Platte River Networks technician who used the "BleachBit" program to destroy thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails when they were under congressional subpoena and preservation orders. It is not just the tick-tock of the criminal clock that has me thinking about Combetta -- about how much longer his obstructive destruction of government files in March 2015 could still be subject to investigation and prosecution. The statute of limitations is five years. Time’s a-wastin', but there could still be a live case for a while. The other reason Combetta leaps to the front of the mind is . . . Robert Mueller. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assures us that Special Counsel Mueller is doing a first-rate job probing the possible (but thus far undiscovered) complicity of Trump associates in Russia's election meddling. That being the case, I'm wondering: Would the Trump Justice Department be up for applying Mueller’s approach to the Clinton caper?McCarthy notes that Team Hillary refused to answer questions about this on specious grounds of "attorney-client privilege," by usually having a lawyer present in the chain of communications. But Manafort tried that too -- and Mueller went around it. Why is attorney-client privilege being allowed to shield witnesses from testifying about likely-criminal acts here?
... But hyping the attorney-client privilege into an impregnable barrier was the key to whitewashing the case: Witnesses couldn’t be questioned about the process of reviewing Clinton’s emails and destroying tens of thousands of them, about Clinton's transferring to them classified emails that they lacked necessary clearances to possess, about their storage of classified emails on their private laptops, and so on --all because they were lawyers and such questioning would purportedly violate the attorney–client privilege. It was unmitigated nonsense, but very useful nonsense. It enabled the Obama Justice Department to feign the appearance of a thoroughgoing inquiry: No, no, the fix wasn’t in; they tried really hard to make the case but, gee whiz, they ran into some legal restrictions that just couldn't be overcome....
I’m thinking it's a good time for the Justice Department, under new management (the Trump-appointed management that hired Mueller), to show Paul Combetta how it works.... In a nutshell, Combetta had a call with Clinton underlings on March 25, though he has not disclosed which underlings they were, or what was said in the conversation. Two days later (March 27), Clinton lawyer David Kendall informed the House committee that there were no longer any existing emails from Clinton’s tenure. PRN logs indicate that Combetta deleted emails and installed BleachBit on March 31. On that same day, Combetta had a conference call with Mills and Kendall. (FBI Clinton File, Part 3, pp. 18–19.) In an early FBI interview on February 18, 2016 (FBI Clinton File, Part 3, pp. 14–20), the recalcitrant Combetta lied to the agents, falsely telling them he did not recall deleting the emails. He also refused to answer questions about his conversations with Clinton’s lawyers, particularly the March 25 and 31 conference calls. Strangely, he invoked the attorney–client privilege. This made no sense: Clinton’s lawyers were not his lawyers, and in any event, the privilege would not cover communications related to the destruction of evidence or obstruction of a congressional investigation.But when the fix is in, you pretend that such not-even-speedbumps are impregnable walls that can't possibly be breached. Time to charge Combatta for lying to the FBI. Last time I heard, Robert Mueller seemed to believe that was a crime. Right?

But I'm glad they are slow tracking this because if it had been rammed through in the first few months (as satisfying as that would be) it would feel too much like punitive action against political foes rather than a built criminal case. The more this kind of thing is dripped out there into the public conscience, the better. Then if action is taken, it won't seem like a political move, but a criminal one.

At a minimum it will show that many standard procedures were violated to give Hillary and her minions a pass on multiple felonies. So many that the OIG should conclude that it was not negligent, but intentional, with a recommendation for official charges and even prosecution.
Many of these same individuals were the DOJ / FBI principals involved in in using the Dossier as a cover to get a FISA warrant. And some of them served on Mueller's team.
Huma's immunity deal -- the one she got when the investigation started -- may not extend to what she was doing with the laptop she shared with hubby. Also, near the end of the campaign -- when that laptop came to light -- someone at the FBI looked at the laptop and told Comey "nothing to see here." Was this Sztrok, the reliable cut-out?
This fits with Trump's tweet shouting out Huma and Comey personally.

Something occurred to me last night.
Remember when the emails were found on Weiner's laptop? That was around October 28, 2016. Almost immediately Comey announced he was reopening the investigation and most of us assumed this was good news and he was going to go after Hillary. But I now don't think that was it at all.
Comey broke FBI policy with the Hillary investigation by not letting the proper field agents deal with the actual investigation with DC doing oversight. Instead, he formed a "special ground of HG agents like Strzok the ran the investigation. This was not how the FBI was designed to work and it was done to control the investigation by a select few.
When he announced that he was reopening the case he dispatched Strzok to NYC to take the laptop from the NY agents so that they could contain the fallout. It was only days later on Nov. 6 that Comey said they had reviewed the laptop and nothing had changed in their opinion from the summer when they found no intent to break the law. Not there weren't any classified documents on the laptop but the made up "no intent" clause.
Just another way Comey and his corrupt crew whitewashed the investigation.

Not 100% true. That helps. So does including an attorney. The first hurdle is just to include the attorney in the conversation. Labeling something as priviledged and confidential doesn't necessarily save you either. But it does help.

The margins usually get blown out by some sort if image larger than a certain dimension. It's all type up top so I don't know what's going on, unless Ace cut and pasted the copy from whatever source and didn't reformat it. I think that's the culprit vis the black diamonds.

Look, we seem to have vastly more evidence here of crimes than the Trump/Russia investigation, which seemingly, has very little to show for a year of work. When most of the charges you are leveling would not exist but for your investigation, you are wasting your time.
In the case of Clinton we have volumes of evidence of wrong doing and cover-up. We have the former president meeting with the attorney general. We have draft memos exonerating people before the investigation as complete. We have questionable deals, and questionable people.

The margins usually get blown out by some sort if image larger than a certain dimension. It's all type up top so I don't know what's going on, unless Ace cut and pasted the copy from whatever source and didn't reformat it. I think that's the culprit vis the black diamonds.

When he announced that he was reopening the case he dispatched Strzok to NYC to take the laptop from the NY agents so that they could contain the fallout. It was only days later on Nov. 6 that Comey said they had reviewed the laptop and nothing had changed in their opinion from the summer when they found no intent to break the law. Not there weren't any classified documents on the laptop but the made up "no intent" clause.

Someday a real investigative reporter is going to do an article documenting that the Obama DOJ under Holder and then Lynch went to great lengths to hamstring Inspectors General across the government for restricting their access to information. This isn't conjecture, it actually happened as was yet another reason that a lot of scandals never got fully exposed.
One of the people who led the effort to get the power restored was none other than the Intelligence Community Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, the very same guy who has been going after the Hillary email investigation for the last year and exposing all this stuff.

What will happen: The IG report will be so damning that several of her underlings will possibly face prosecution. Nobody will flip.
Trump will give some speech about tearing the country apart (i.e., Ford/Nixon) and he will instruct the justice dept to do nothing. However, this will allow Trump to continuously to point out her wrong doings to the point she'll almost be begging to go to court to clear her name.

1) Show terrible consequences to innocent third parties from their actions. Make them feel guilt.
2) People who think they are heroes want to get recognized. Often so bad they will readily confess to crimes. Go ahead and make this case - get them going - read them their tweets, and read from approving leftist garbage of their actions. Make it seem approving for them to admit what they did.
3) Show that the people they are protecting don't deserve their protection. Not hard with the Clintons.
Look - stop thinking these people are smart. they aren't, just slightly more intelligent than your average person. Use their own psychology against them. Make confessing and going to jail a heroic act and these drama queens will be all over it.

Since there's been no indictment, arrests or trials she could still be charged with a crime and go to trial? That would be hilarious to see Bill and Hillary squirming on the witness stand like a whore in church. I would say to hook them up to a polygraph but they are so used to lying that it wouldn't show anything.
