Weird News Dump

rise-shine-50151124-22.jpg

Good morning. The last Saturday of 2017. The Staff here at weird news thought about recycling some weird news stories from the past year. But we said, "They pay big bucks for their subscription, let's give 'em new weird stories."

So here ya go. Some stories that didn't get too much attention at the AoSHQ.

*****

So Morons, enjoy these stories or something else that you wish to discuss in this open thread. No talking with your mouth full. Keep the elbows off the table and no running with sharp objects.

Have a great weekend!

6 San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid is prepared to be blackballed by NFL teams

San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid was the first player to begin kneeling alongside former teammate Colin Kaepernick.

Reid will be testing free agency this offseason and with that, his career may come to an impasse.

My annual minimum requirement of Citron is obtained therefrom. I like it too. The much-derided Claxton fruit cake suits me fine. Slightly warmed, perhaps even a smear of butter, with hot tea or coffee.

That singer, joy Villa, has a most unusual past:

She previously had a career as a dominatrix in Hollywood; she was photographed gushing over meeting Obama; she made some anti Trump-supporters tweets before she jumped on the MAGA-wagon; she is a Scientologist masquerading as a Christian; she is recorded on video smacking the butt of a man at some kind of social function - the same behavior for which she is now accusing Lewandowski. In short, she will do whatever she must to be in the public eye.

My theory is that sensationalizing the news in general and the weather in particular has made people fearful of nature instead of just fatalistic yet prepared, as one should be.

My M-I-l makes a "brandied" fruit cake. Essentially, you let a bunch of canned fruit sit on the counter for about a month (covered and stirring to prevent mold) and then mix it into cake batter and bake. Pretty much the opposite of traditional fruit cake, whose goal was to preserve a calorie-dense food for winter nutrition, but a good way to use up older canned fruit that isn't attractive enough to serve "as-is".

It's pretty good. John didn't know what everyone's problem with fruitcake was since his mom's was the only one he'd eaten. Bit of a revelation for him when he was given a piece of traditional style. I found I don't care for citron or green maraschino cherries but I don't object to the bread portion.

Some things will be the same as 2017 -- February won't have a 29th day, and no one moves to Canada because of election results.

Some things may be different. 2018 may be the year people tire of all of the crappy entertainment being dumped onto society. The stock market will see an overdue pullback. A major terrorist attack in Germany will baffle leaders in Europe.

Not really. We've all suspected this for a long time to the point of being certain but Graham claims to have seen evidence of how exactly the dossier was used and stated that we need a special prosecutor to sort it out because it was used in an unlawful way. He wasn't speculating, he was stating his conclusion after seeing the evidence.

To the best of my knowledge, that is the fist time we have actual confirmation.

So, pricey. But, not insanely so in the current market.

Cheapest seat I saw was around $65.00.

YMMV depending on where you live.

328 A founding member of The Electric Light Orchestra, Jeff Lynne turns 70 years old today. Jeff was the sole constant member of Electric Light Orchestra. He was later a co-founder and member of the Traveling Wilburys together with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. Jeff produced recordings for artists such as The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Roy Orbison, Dave Edmunds, Del Shannon and Tom Petty.

Not sure if ELO was more the brainchild of Jeff Lynne or Roy Wood when they were still in The Move. Jeff definitely shepherded the group into high popularity as Roy left to pursue his own weird concept of pop like Wizzard. Roy was extremely talented but he looked and acted like he dropped a *lot* of acid.

339 so we know the flashpoints.

Shouldn't that be some more hip expression? Like 'earth tone'?

342 334 "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store."

345 I take it Reid is a has-been. Very very few NFL owners or coaches gave a tinkers damn about their players giving the finger to patriotic fans so if he isn't picked up its because his talents are no longer equal to his desired salary. And with him/his agent putting this story out there it adds a bit of extra incentive for teams to avoid a loudmouth whiner.

346 She previously had a career as a dominatrix in
Hollywood; she was photographed gushing over meeting Obama; she made
some anti Trump-supporters tweets before she jumped on the MAGA-wagon;
she is a Scientologist masquerading as a Christian; she is recorded on
video smacking the butt of a man at some kind of social function - the
same behavior for which she is now accusing Lewandowski. In short, she
will do whatever she must to be in the public eye.
