The Morning Report 12/13/17

AlObama.jpg

Good morning kids. I'm old enough, and by now should be wise enough, to understand what happened yesterday in Alabama, and yet I'm still shocked and sickened. I suppose that is the normal reaction if we were living in anything resembling normal times; obviously we're not. A Senate seat in what is arguably a solid red state has been "stolen" and made Democrat. The word stolen has multiple meanings in this context and I think virtually all of them are correct (pending the whereabouts of Al Franken's Buick LeSabre, fraud will not be considered - yet).

Let's face it; electoral politics as we have known it is gone. If we didn't realize that certainly by last November, we never would have. The election of Donald Trump has thoroughly exposed the corruption, criminality and rot that is our government, media and culture. They will not allow that to stand. I can't say whether we would have witnessed the spectacle of the last few months had the candidate been Luther Strange or Mo Brooks. But, idiosyncrasies or not, Roy Moore is a lightning rod and even worse, a staunch supporter of the President and avowed enemy of Mitch McConnell and the Establishment. And so yesterday is just another indication that we are in a war between those who want to subjugate this country and citizenry, and the rest of us who want to somehow try to save it and our posterity from extinction. Yes, our enemies will crow, strut and preen about the significance of this "victory" as proof positive of the repudiation of the President and the first step towards his downfall. To which I say "go to Hell."

From a practical standpoint, Moore is not conceding and in all likelihood will demand a recount. Slim as the margin seems to be as of this writing, I have my doubts that he can overcome it. McTraitor also is saying that Doug Jones won't be seated until next year, so he will not be voting on legislation, most crucially the Tax Reform bill, and whatever else may be up for a vote between now and then. On the plus side, he's only there until 2020 but on the downside, losing that seat to a hardcore Leftist leaves only a wafer-thin majority in the Senate. And of course with Republicans like Collins, Murkowski, Alexander and too many others, well, you get the picture. And speaking of raw sewage, Richard Shelby.

Predictable: Steve Bannon (PBUH) is being attacked and mocked for causing Moore to lose the election. And yet the same momzers dumping on Bannon are the ones who not only refused to support or defend Roy Moore but actively participated in his defeat. The chutzpah is just beyond belief.

Prediction: Gloria Allred and her clients who accused Roy Moore will completely disappear from the news cycle within a day or so. Allred though will no doubt be back as what yesterday was is the opening salvo in the new/old strategy of Mish-Grabber-Gate 2.0. We can see that the Russian collusion angle has failed and the Mueller probe is going to go the same route with the revelations about Strzok, McCabe, Rosenstein and probably Adam Schiff. Oh, hell yes. It's a war people. It's a goddam long, bloody war and there will be pain inflicted on us. Let us steel ourselves and move forward.

In other news, Minnesota's governor Mark Dayton is supposed to name a replacement for Al Franken's senate seat. All well and good except Franken has not officially quit. Meh, with Moore losing Alabama, he has no excuse to stick around. And speaking of rape, New York restaurateur Ken Friedman allegedly has a rape room in an eatery that he co-owns with entertainer and former crack dealer Jay-Z. Were I not so utterly disgusted about the election, I'd have something snarky.

Lastly, J. Christian Adams talks about what's been going on at the DoJ aside from the somnambulant proclivities of its director. As I've said before, unless Sessionzzzzz personally leads the Clintons, Obama and Soros in leg irons to the paddy wagon, I can't think of a better replacement than Adams to run that agency.

Chin up people. Happy Hanukkah and eat some latkes.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

Here's my take:

BS headline by faux news:

Alabama Senate election: Doug Jones wins in major upset, Roy Moore won't yet concede

It took me a while to find the actual vote count but it appears that the communist won AL by 20,000 votes and the MFM is saying it was the write-in vote that did it. IOW vote fraud. But evil Moore 'will not concede'.

One wonders how the 'write-in vote' was what did it since Jones was actually on the ballot. But oh how the MFM is crowing. While I eat crow the lesson learned is you can not let Democrats get within vote fraud margin. What made it a close race was the 'historically black' turnout who uniformly voted for the communist by a factor of 96%. This at the same time the percentage of white people in AL has been steadily declining. And of course Faux News blames the Democrat lies about underage sex. I blame black racism.

9 The left is in a war. It is not trying to win converts; it is trying to impose its will. Jones in no way reflects the morals or desires of the people of Alabama. The left does not care. The left 'won' in terms of getting a wrench thrown into the cogs of the republican machine. But its agenda is still not supported by a majority of people. They don't care.

The bad guys here are McConnell, Who spent millions to destroy Mo Brooks, whom nobody here would have had a problem with and Bannon who severely needs a bath, a shave and to get the fuck of the stage. Their pissing contest did this, they are the worst of both extremes.

I had a feeling Alabama was going to be razor thin so I made no prediction. Saul Alinsky must be smiling in his grave. His methods still work, though I think the electorate is fed up.

It took the concerted efforts of the Washington Post, Gloria AllRed, and the GOPe to force the loss of a Senate seat. Fvck each and every one of those scumbags.

28 Looks like Jones was less than 100,000 off of Hilary's vote total from a year ago which is pretty damn good in a specal election while Moore got less than half Trump's vote total. Essentially a turnout problem which makes sense seeing how the GOP pulled the plug approximately 30 seconds before the WaPo story dropped.

44 To start off with I note on the ONT that the NFL is going to Morehouse college in Atlanta for community outreach and a workshop. Morehouse is a segregated all male all black college that gets away with it because they are what is known as a 'Historically Black' school. The DOJ and the NAACP will never touch one of those schools. But in 1995 the 'historically male' military college at the Citadel in SC was forced to take women students by the Billy Bob Clinton's corrupt WH. And the scrunt who was the subject of that DOJ civil suit dropped out shortly after entering. IOW it was a setup case. She had never had any intention of actually attending. After four hours of the military indoctrination training, she spent the remainder of the first week in the infirmary before voluntarily resigning, citing emotional and psychological abuse and physical exhaustion. After her departure, the male cadets openly celebrated on the campus.

Better a low road to victory than a high road to ruin.

Any "moral victory" that ends with the cultural marxists taking over the country is not a victory of any sort.

Anyone who doesn't get that needs to have it beaten into their heads. Your warm and fuzzy feelings about what a good person you are will not keep the enemy - and they are an enemy - from sending you to the gulag if they are allowed to gain complete control.

791 What kind of tractor? Would a PTO and blower be faster?

Posted by: NaCly Dog at December 13, 2017 06:40 AM (hyuyC)

It's made by MTD with an eighteen horse engine. I'm not sure a blower would be any faster, but it would get the snow far away instead of having mounds of snow which become an issue with successive snowfalls.

In my area it's usually a sequence of snow, then it all melts, then another snowfall, then melting. This setup isn't the best for everyone but it was the cheapest solution for me.

Being on the edge of a climate zone most of the time we end up with about three inches of pure slop. A combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Heavy damp stuff that a snowblower would choke on. Heart attack type of shoveling is required. I think those eighteen horses should handle it easily.
Posted by: Acme Explosives at December 13, 2017 06:50 AM (ajiE5)

Sounds like a blade is the way to go where you live. I'd push it back onto the lawn a good bit, just in case you don't get those successive melts. Then again, I live in a lake effect zone.

Also sounds like you may be using a blade on a lawn tractor. I did that for several years. Transaxle was a K46. Burnt it up pretty good pushing snow over 4 seasons. Recommend changing the fluid in yours come spring and after each winter.

Also, we need to find and work in our own areas. In Michigan, where I am, I think maybe we can finally get rid of Stabanaw. If not, we can at least force the DNC to spend a lot to defend her. There are lots of DNC seats that they will need to defend which will make it hard for them.

I lucked out. Some one stole it about the time I was researching doing a rebuild of the transaxle.

Figured out I really need a garden tractor (some dirt moving in the warm season, too). Enough tractor was going to cost me more than insurance would cover if I bought new. Ended up getting into older Deeres.

Got a stop-gap one with a blower (JD 300) and weights for last winter (out of pocket for real cheap). Mounted a back blade on that to pull snow from garage aprons, etc. My back isn't what it used to be and I avoid using the walk-behind blower, if possible.

Insurance got me a diesel 332 with front blade. That's for windrows from the county road plows.

Between our place and Mrs IMG's parents' next door, there's equivalent to 400-500 ft of driveway and three entrances to keep cleared.

Tractor mounted blower works great on grass, so I can do pathways around the house (chicken house, shed, smoker, dog pen, etc)

141 Conservatives could help themselves by choosing better candidates in the primaries. We've done this a couple of times in recent years (lost a winnable senate race with poor candidate choices).

I agree. But there's no way that the GOPe will ever endorse a conservative candidate.

If there was a way to do it, I'd prefer Bannon conduct a hostile takeover of the Party of Stoopid and start seeking out more conservative candidates to counter the GOPe's refusal to do so.

I'm so very glad that McConnell his happy this morning, sitting in his big fine house with a lot of money, new luxury cars and nothing to worry about while I've had to scramble, struggle and downsize like hell just to make ends meet for the past decade because my own goddamned government destroyed my career.

Vic, we blame black voters for falling for Dem propaganda (and Moore
making that idiotic comment about families being stronger under slavery
sure didn't help himself there), but what about the white GOP voters who
jumped when the WaPo and GOPe told them too? Alabama has had a large
black population for a long time and still managed to give Trump a 20+
point victory in 2016. Moore was an extremely shitty candidate and too
many White conservatives didn't think about the consequences to the
country if Jones got elected.

Black voters never had any intent on voting for a Republican in any meaningful numbers. usually the black vote hinges entirely on turnout, and they turned out this time and voted 96% for Jones.

152 Morning, all.

I keep hearing about all these people who voted for Trump in 2016 but voted for Jones yesterday. While these may be there it's honestly not in the numbers.

POTUS 2016
Trump 1,318,255
Beast 729,547
Pot-head 44,467
Write-ins 21,712

Senate 2017 (with 100% reported last night)
Commie 671,151
Moore 650,436
Write-ins 22,810

So yeah, I blame Cecil McTurtle for butting his nose into this race in the first place, dumping-in $30M for Luther the Strange and then tossing Moore under the bus at the first sign of potential trouble. I blame the rest of the feckless GOPe - I cannot seem to recall a single HOR or Senate member who stood by Judge Moore and so I very much look forward to Gloria A bring bimbo-eruptions to each of their eventual re-election campaigns.

Special places in hell of course reserved for Juan McVain, Suzie-Q Collins, Jeff SnowFlake, Tim Scott, and of course Dick Shelby. Also, fuck Mitt Rmoney and (of course) Egg McMuffin in particular with the rest of the #SalonHot25 #TruCons who have just sent a gun-grabbing, DACA-voting, baby-murdering, tax-cut-killing extremest to DC to represent Ala-freaking-bama

And yeah, when you have all that, plus a unified Democrat/Media complex and others dumping 10's of millions of $$ into your race - especially when all you have in your corner is... Bannon (and Trump, very late in the game) - then these sorts of things can happen.

But none of that fully explains how, with everything at state, Roy Moore managed to secure less than half of DJT's vote from a little over a year earlier, when this commie nothingburger managed to keep most of Felonia's + Rocky Mountain High's. All he needed was 51% of DJT's vote from 2016 and we'd be talking about another close but no cigar for the blues. But he couldn't even manage that. Moore has chronically underperformed in pretty much all of his races and yesterday he fell short of clearing the bar within the margin of fraud. That, every last piece of that, is on him and nobody else.

Methinks I'll be catching-up on some year-end work stuff and staying off the interwebs today.

The time for recognizing his flaws was that runoff with Brooks and Strange. And let's face it, if either of them won there would've still been a smear machine to try and take the seat. Might (or might not) have worked, but the salient point is, Moore was the candidate and should've been backed to the hilt from the get-go unless and until any allegations were 100% proven as fact at the time they were hurled.

McConnell and the rest are as happy as the Dems are about what happened yesterday. Make no mistake. And sadly, ultimately, it's those who chose to write-in instead of vote for Moore who are equally culpable.

206 "I can't say whether we would have witnessed the spectacle of the last
few months had the candidate been Luther Strange or Mo Brook"

I can. The answer is- no.

Strange may not have been the ideal candidate. You can call him all the names you want. But he was a guaranteed vote for the Republican agenda. The agenda that people voted for.

People can wax poetically all they want about The Swamp, RINO's and the like. But you don't change Washington by deliberate fratricide. You change it almost a glacial pace. It's been that way since the First Congress, and anyone believing otherwise gets my vote...for National Village Idiot.

Elections indeed have consequences, and the election of Jones willl not be inconsequential. He's already endorsed not only the unfounded attacks on our president, but on most of the agenda we were all seeking to pass.

So the next time you see a close vote that works against us, or a bill that doesn't have what you want in it and makes you scream RINO, remember what happened here.

I believe that's part of the problem brother. There is no "ideal" candidate. There are local races and often the dynamics are much different. We all have our different ideas and biases about what represents the "ideal" candidate. But there are a lot of variables which go into an election. Most of those dynamics have to do with the mindset of voters in that locale. They have less to do with the larger national situation. So this idea that somehow we can apply our own whimsical wants and standards to a local race is a lose every time. I just wonder how many times we need to repeat this mistake before we learn that lesson. The goal should always be to retain a majority- the best majority we can get given electoral circumstances. This idea that we go to "war" with candidates is a loser. We saw that with eight years of Obama and the last Democrat Majority Congress. IF we are not careful, we will be back on th wrong side of that.By the way, I believe the election of Trump is a once in a lifetime event. No future candidate will be able to duplicate that. The man has his own unique appeal and ways about him. People were tired of politicians and the politically correct. Democrats abandoned a large section of their electorate, and Trump was seen to some as filling that void.

254 -the yearbook falsifier who claimed she went out with him at 14 has been pretty well debunked.

That one claimed 16, otherwise she couldn't have been employed as a waitress.

Part of these new tactics by the Left is to have a gaggle of accusers so that arguing the details becomes impossible. They will never trot out a single accuser so that it becomes impossible to focus and you have to address 'all the accusers' at once and details between their differing stories get confused and transferred. Like they're doing with Trump now, they put absolute nothings in to make the group bigger, when only one or two have anything substantial to charge.

So we get one count of underage with one of assault and the rest are 'banned at the mall!!' and 'CREEPY!!!' and the media reports 'dozens' of accusations.

This will become the sine qua non of Democrats in the next election cycle.

Look at how large the accusations played in deciding this election. The media (as always) did not report truthfully, accusation=guilt, questioning the accusers veracity="anti-woman", the majority leader in the senate (surprise, cockfag!) even got in on the accusations.

One baseless, unproven and demonstrably false accusations changed the entire election cycle narrative.

You will see it again until someone curb stomps this tactic.

276 As rightfully angry as everyone is this morning, the other big news that broke last night is explosive. Only a handful of the 10,000 texts between Strzok and Page were released but they show not just bias but outright hatred of Trump (not to mention other Republicans like Ryan and even Bernie) but they also seem to implicate Andrew McCabe in their little cabal.

And the timing lines up with the Russia dossier and point toward actions being taken to stop Trump both during the election and hints toward an "insurance policy" should Trump win.

And just as I've been saying all along these texts come as a result of the year long DOJ OIG investigation and represent just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Cheer up. Last night was a one time clusterfuck of an awful candidate, party infighting and last minute 40 year old sexual charges right in the middle of the biggest sexual harassment/assault witch hunt ever.

It sucks but its not the end of the world and Jones will be gone in 4 years.

Well it occurs to me this morning - this is precisely what a hot civil war looks like, folks. Losing safe seats. Circular firing squads. Sacrificing a 80% reliable, though swampy, vote for someone who is going to be precisely 0% reliable on any issue that matters.

I for one am not willing to reconsider my desire for this civil war on the right, but then again I ditched the GOPe in May 2011 so I have zero investment. But those of you who are on board with Burn. 307 Good morning Horde. Today is the 2nd Wednesday in Advent, and the reading is Luke 1:14-16, concerning John the Baptist. In the interest of pixels, you may read this passage on your own.

Two thousand years ago, an angel of the Lord announced to a very old man, Zechariah, that his yet-unborn-child would "go before the Lord as a forerunner" -- as a person coming in advance to announce the arrival of someone else.

That someone else was Jesus!

When Zechariah's son, John, began his ministry, the Apostle John records that he described it in this way: "I am fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy: "I am an urgent, thundering voice shouting in the desert --- clear the way and prepare your hearts for the coming of the Lord Yahweh!"

John made it clear he was not the Anointed One come to save the world; he was his forerunner, the one who came to clear the way and prepare people's hearts for His coming. And when the Lord did come, John got out of the way and turned all eyes on Jesus: "Look! There he is -- God's Lamb! He will take away the sins of the world!" (John 1:29).

Close, but no cigar. Even that early in his meteoric rise, Jesus Christ had an advance team, and one savvy enough at that to dress like the Savior. So we can excuse Zechariah for thinking he'd encountered the Christ, when in fact he was hyperventilating to a taciturn, bearded, accomplished professional bodyguard named Bob, formerly of Blackwater and now employed doing home security for an unnamed software company executive.

Posted by: WitchDoktor, AKA VA GOP Sucks at December 13, 2017 08:36 AM (tVWQB)

348 Morning Horde. Windy and flippin' cold in SEPA this morning. It suits my mood.

I had a bad feeling about this one and unfortunately that was confirmed. Flawed candidate, unprecedented quantities of outside money, big symbolic implications -- all a recipe for defeat. I guess the thing that makes me most livid about this one is the fact that the candidate of the GOP was betrayed by his own party. Think about this: can you remember a time when Democrats treated one of their candidates, no matter how stupid, perverted, or insane, the way the GOP and McConnell treated Moore? It's another pebble in the mound of information that tells us that the establishment GOP is of one mind with the Democrats

Other things we should consider: pervnado will affect Republicans MUCH more than it will affect Democrats. They will occasionally make ritual sacrifices in safe seats, as with Franken, but the rank and file will stay in line; on the other hand, the GOP faithful will be demoralized about a candidate if it can be shown that he was immoral. The Dems will happily make that sacrifice if it yields up a GOP seat. That's why the scalps gotten in Hollywood don't really matter (though it's admittedly satisfying).

More considerations: Blacks in southern states, when sufficiently motivated, will vote en bloc for the Democrats. This has implications for Alabama, SC, and Mississippi.

Looking beyond this to PDT, I fear that he could have just about everybody but a certain hard core against him. The GOPe denizens could easily form a third party in 2020 and peel off enough votes to make him a one-term president. I absolutely, positively don't put it past them.

I'm going to have to work at work today just to stay away from the gloating. Hang tough, my friends, nobody said this was going to be easy.

How would one charge that week? Admin leave with pay? Non-pay
status? And does one have to re-enroll in electronic pay statement
recipient status if put into a non-pay status?
.
.
.It's a suspension without pay. Admin leave counts for retirement and longevity purposes even if it is without pay. Have to do a suspension to make it not count.

Trust me I know. Had one woman who was a huge discipline problem and would routinely abuse sick and annual leave to the point where she would have a negative paycheck because DOD was covering her SS/Medicare payments and her life and health insurance and she didn't have enough leave to cover her absences so she was in a no pay status.

It got weird.

431 As Maga stated above this is a lot of monday morning quarterbacking. I've had my opinion of Moore since day 1 and I did not state it here. On many issues this blog has become an echo chamber and Moore was one of them. Dissenting opinions were booed down. I love this blog, it's helped me to become the conservative I am today. Until 9/11 I could have cared less then zero about the things we discuss on a daily basis.
But we also need to learn from what is happening right now. Our opinions are not the opinions of everyone. We're going to lose on occasion. But we need to listen to the opinions of others and not discount them.
Moore was a poor candidate for the climate we are in today.
I believe that Franken will now resign. He's no longer needed. He was the FU to the black population of AL. Pervnado forced Conyers to resign, and Franken was allowed to stay in the Senate and Moore allowed to remain in the race. Or Franken may stay and take his chances with the ethics committee.

432 Good morning (sort of), everyone. I am both sickened and enraged about the Alabama election. Being in Virginia, I empathize with the AL 'rons and 'ettes: doing what you can and still getting screwed. The only way I got to sleep last night was to play some Bach concertos and let their beauty soothe me.

I'm avoiding politics for several days, here and talk radio. CBD's daily art thread, always appreciated, and the weekend threads are the exceptions. Besides, there are important matters to deal with such as decorating the tree and listening to beautiful carols. (On youtube, look for The Wexford Carol with Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma. It is beyond exquisite.)

Then there is the really heavy chore: going through the Deplorable Gourmet, again, and choosing which recipes to try first. Now that is a challenge.

480 I'm pretty sick of the GOPe and people that regularly shill for them having a freakout about a candidate they don't like, dropping all support for them, running write in candidates, and even outright supporting the Democrat opponent, and then its a narrow loss. And then they go and shout "SEE! This is why you can't run these types of candidates! They always lose! Do it our way and support who we tell you to."

Maybe it would have some merit if they would actually give some real support and effort to those candidate the people chose, and then they lost and went "ok we tried it your way and it didn't work come back and work with us to get a good candidate." But of course giving that real support to a candidate like that could have some catastrophic consequences to their narrative on the "crazy out there guys," like something insane and one of them winding up as our 45th president.

Y'all sound exactly like the Dems last fall when Hillary went down.. thousands of people in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin (and a bunch of other states) wrote in names ranging from a dead gorilla (Harambe) to the Pope, just because they could neither vote for Trump nor Hillary.

But as a majority we cannot do any of that, so lets give Democrats power and we can give you the votes you want us to give.

It's the feast of lights in Sweden, ushering in the Christmas season. A daughter of the household dresses in a white robe with a red sash, and puts a wreath on her head with burning candles stuck in it. Then she serves breakfast on a tray to her family. There are also Lucia processions through the streets and churches. A parade of young women in white, with the lead girl burning her hair at the front of the procession. It's very pretty. And scary.

Yeah... but no.

The Democrats are energized and have learned to weaponized allegations of "sexual misconduct" and will use the strategy against Republicans where they are weakest.

Heller is probably gone; Nevada's a blue state now. Arizona will have two open seats if the tumor has anything to say about it. Claire McCaskill is the most vulnerable Dem, but she was the same way in 2012 and pulled it out.

I think a two-seat Democrat pick-up is more likely than Republicans picking up any of the vulnerable Democrat seats.

2018, the GOPe again takes all the wrong lessons from this and tries to shove their squishy beltway supportive candidates down the throats of voters who are sick of them and likely scuttle the campaigns of any decent candidates that will run, so you wind up either getting the squish and killing voter enthusiasm, or an anti-establishment but more flawed candidate who the GOPe again freaks out about and goes against instead of supports.

I've got to hand it to the GOPe, the Communi-Democrats and the mainstream media. Their smear campaign against Roy Moore, a highly flawed and buffoonish candidate, worked. They made it icky to vote for him, especially among married GOP women. Now those women who lobbed those charges against him will disappear like Cindy Sheehan and all those the Left uses to further its aims.

At least Doug Jones can be replaced in just a few short years, but damage will be done to Trump's agenda thanks to Bitch McConnell. And I think that's the point.

Never forget that McConnell and his stooges spent millions, not to take a Democrat seat, but to make sure Rep. Mo Brooks had no shot in the GOP primary because he dared mention that he wouldn't vote for the Turtle for majority leader.

If Mo Brooks would've been the candidate, Doug Jones would've been toast.

Yeah, I am going to disagree with that. He was a good enough candidate for Alabama, though not for national candidacy. His opinions are, shall we say, retrograde, and way out on the tail of the normal curve even in Alabama.

Moore was leading by some 15 points in the polls before the accusations hit. The accusations killed his candidacy. Plain and simple. Obviously given the closeness he still might have won had one thing or other gone differently. I don't think money would have made the difference. Certainly both the Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House saying that the accusations were credible did not help. The whole what will we do if he wins navel gazing did not help. Shelby shivving on the day before the election did not help.

Now here is the problem for the GOP/GOPe - there are no "extremists" in the Democrat party. (I know, of course there are, but there really isn't anything out of bounds for them. They can say anything, do anything, and still get support from the rest of their party.) The GOP accepts the extremist label, and will not lend their support for those who have it. But then again, they aren't especially brave in their support of their own even when they aren't extreme.

556 I hate to say it, but last night was a preview of 2018. The GOPe wing of the Uniparty will alienate the voters, depress turnout, and hand Congress to the Democrat wing of the Uniparty. Next step: Impeachment.

557 Moore was a very flawed candidate, even without the sexual allegations. He never got more than 52 percent statewide.

The Alabama Republicans should never have allowed Robert Bentley to fill Sessions' seat, and should have put in Mo Brooks.

However, if there is blame, most of the blame has to placed on the voters of Alabama.

The silver lining is that the Democrats won't be able to use Moore as a cudgel for the midterms while a long, drawn out ethics investigation would have taken place. By Monday, this story will be out of the news cycle.

Gillibrand and Fauxcahontas can scream all they want. Trump is not resigning. Everyone knew about the Access Hollywood tape and the people voted.

I can't believe that if the economy is roaring in a year and North Korea is contained, people will vote against Trump's party because they dislike his personality or personal stuff he doesn't d in the past.

Posted by: mercenary13 at December 13, 2017 09:49 AM (grMf8)

558 The 2 criminal accusations against Moore had enough reasonable doubt cast on them to be irrelevant to voters, the inconsistencies and timing of the accusations, but what stuck was the taboo of an older man pursuing teens, would you let your daughter date this man.

I have my Kid Rock sticker on my truck too! And i know he would have run and won, but there is a veteran (Black) who is talking about running so all hope is not lost. I think at least Kid woke people up to the possibility of unseating Stabby.

329. and last night "someone" from Anderson Cooper's twitter called Trump a "tool" and a "pathetic loser".

Cooper is claiming he was hacked but boy howdy stuff is getting crazy lately.

More fake news from CNN. Trump is neither pathetic nor a loser. For that person, please see Clinton, Hillary.

Posted by: LASue at December 13, 2017 08:42 AM (Mjus2)

It amazes to me that with so many high-profile hacked accounts, Twitter retains the confidence of significant celebrities and politicians. Either their security is atrocious or they're fine with people placing the blame for outrageous actions at their company's feet.

564 Another silver lining: voters in other red states with Senate races will see how Jones screws over Alabama, good and hard. It will be a warning for them.

569 Late to the comments--but #9 you say Jones does not reflect Alabama voters. Oh really? They elected him didn't they? Now Alabama is Democrat. I hope they pay and pay for electing this fool.

570 I just discovered the worst thing about Moore losing: Teh Rick Wilson (friend of the blog) thinks that it is a win for him.

571 Gee, we ran a nutcase child molester and have no idea why he lost . . .

Posted by: Blackrock at December 13, 2017 11:16 AM (9IC6F)

572 All this whining an gnashing of teeth. Blaming Alabama voters, attacking black voters as if they are not citizens with as much right to vote as anyone, pointing to write-in votes as a sign of foul play with understanding what a write-in vote is, as opposed to an absentee ballot...

Seriously guys, have some perspective. You want to blame someone? Consider blaming these people:

1. Bannon. There was really nothing wrong with Luther Strange. He would have been one of the top 10 or 12 most conservative Senators. Bannon just wanted to poke Trump a bit, as he had recently lost his position in the White House.

2. McConnell. Not for not backing Moore, but for interfering in the primary. Just as there is nothing wrong with Strange, there is nothing wrong with Mo Brooks. Certainly nothing that justified McConnell, who should be strictly neutral in primaries under most circumstances, getting involved.

3. Moore. This is a guy who was TWICE removed from the Alabama Supreme Court. And completely deserved to be. And who really did try hard to "date" teenagers when he was in his 30s. He doesn't deny it! If a Democratic candidate anywhere in the country had been removed from his state's Supreme Court (twice!) and dated underage girls, you would lose you minds. Rightly.

This was a really bad candidate. Really bad. If a 32 year-old-man was hitting on your 16-year-old daughter at the mall, you'd belt him in the mouth. Or at the very least, get your daughter out of there. You would not say, "Hey wowsa! That looks like a future Senator!"

Posted by: RichieC at December 13, 2017 11:19 AM (N2ODI)

573 Jones will be a 24 month senator.

Moore won state wide in 2012 for SC and only got 51.76% of the vote. Though there were several candidates being elected and every other R got 97%+. So the D win will be short lived.

Second, Jones isn't seated until Jan, so the impetus and sense of urgency to pass tax reform will help it get passed.

Dough Jones will vote with Schumer on DACA/Amnesty. Let's see how that works out for him in 2020.

Mueller will implode and he's fishing for some sort of obstruction, not collusion. The house committee and Nunes will make sure to let info out. haven't heard much of anything new from Schiff. He's floundering.

Pass tax reform
Pass DACA/Wall/E-Verify compromise.
End Chain Migration.
Hopefully the economy continues at 2.5-3.5 per quarter
Obamacare sucks into a big black hole

Ds are defending 25 vs. R 10 seats in senate in 2018. Every senator will now NOT be questioned about Moore in the hall of congress.

The Gillibrandt/MeAgain Kelly posse of 16/Allred will now slowly grind into the wood work.

At the end of the day, what is the Democratic plan for the country? Other than the usual suspects, which has proven a loser for the last 4 congressional elections and the sole presidential election Obama was not on the ballot, the Ds are pitching exactly what? for the American people?

Posted by: Steve_in_SoCal at December 13, 2017 11:22 AM (bB4HN)

574 The Dems paid too much for this victory. They got it due to a confluence of reasons. Hope Bannon learns from this. The pendulum had swung so hard against the Dems it had to swing back, it always does.

The outcome of Mueller's investigation is still the big banana for now, not this Senate seat.

Posted by: Meremortal at December 13, 2017 11:40 AM (3myMJ)

575 The Ultra Conservative, Bible-Thumping, knucklehead wing of the Republican Party cost us yet another Senate Seat. Just like they did in 2010, ("I AM NOT A WITCH!" should be the Republican mantra for the rest of the year)

OTOH, there is no such thing as a 'Moral Victory', there is only victory. Yes, if Moore had been elected we would have had to listen to Gillibrand's moralizing until Nov 2020 but even that is irrelevant.

dimocraps will be dimocraps. They are scum. The sooner you admit that to yourselves, the clearer everything becomes.

I remember when, a couple weeks ago, someone I respect posted about how dims are 'inherently decent' to which I almost threw up my morning coffee.

No, people. They are not.

They know EXACTLY who they are voting for. They know EXACTLY what they are voting for.

And they don't care. From Ted Kennedy to Marion Barry, to Alcee Hastings to Franken and Conyers to Jesse Jackson Jr to Bill The Rapist Clinton -- They know who and what they're voting for.

Until you can get it through your skulls that dimocraps are scum, I'm talking 40% of the American People, your sister, your co-workers, your brother, your neighbor, whatevs......

Until you can understand that, we have no chance of keeping this Country free.

I'm not encouraging that we do anything about it other than vote and understand what the entire dimocrap party and their voters are -- Scum.

Don't like it? Don't like me for saying it?

576 See people!!! Even Alabama hates Trump and wants Presdent Obama back. Lets bring back Obama so the world will love us again !!! High taxes are not so bad if the government takes care of us and the healthcare law is not so bad and the rich can pay for aour healthcare . That only sounds fare ...

577 The press keeps blaming Bannon, but Moore would have won if not for the allegations and Moore should have stepped down when they surfaced. Bannon would not have supported Moore if the teen-dating was suspected. Moore is a narcissist , he wont even accept the result (Hillary's Russian hackers?) but guys like Moore are the type that can survive the pressure of this media environment, he will not blink; but the controvity he faced is still a taboo, hetero old man / teen. Gotta respect the Dems who planned this, a brilliant tactical move, though it will only last 2 years. Jones will be gone in 2020.

578 Re Shelby: Raw sewage is being charitable. And let him rot in the interceptor with his partner in crime Jeff Flake.

I remember when Shelby was a Dem House member who beat GOP Senator Jeremiah Denton in 1986, and when he opportunistically switched to the GOP the day after the big Republican win in 1994. I wouldn't put it past him to switch back if the Dems win the Senate next year.

Posted by: sestamibi at December 13, 2017 03:27 PM (WusEB)

579 Sorry, but Moore was a bad candidate. I don't doubt that he *should* have won, but it *shouldn't* have come down to what it did. Just watch his Hannity interview if you have doubts - he sank himself as much as the GOP torpedoed him.

I see some people don't understand what 'write-in' means. It means that people who disliked both candidates voted for someone else (Strange, Mickey Mouse, etc.) Those votes were all but a middle finger aimed at Roy Moore.
