I dunno if Moore will win, but I expect a narrow victory when all the fraudin' is done. Wide enough to cut off the recount calls, but narrow.
As for the party affiliation, not a concern. Not only is it like ace said (lots of Democrat registrations in the south but voting Republican) but Trump swept the state massively despite huge black turnout. Or, perhaps, because of it. And I strongly doubt that culturally, Alabama blacks are particularly concerned about a 30 year old man dating 16 year olds. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 12, 2017 07:14 PM (39g3+) 11

The accusations against Moore have all fallen apart when examined -- not credible.
There's only one accusation that might be true, or might not. The girl who says she was 14 when he tried a sexual move on her. There are some very minor inconsistencies in her story, but after nearly 40 years you'd expect that. But there's no evidence, and no supporting data. Just her word. He denies it. So what's that leave us with? Are we to simply assume he's a bad guy because a leftist newspaper prints a story meant to derail him? I don't think it will resonate with voters. But we'll see. If he did what he's accused of with her, yeah the guy is scum. But I'm not going to simply believe her because she said it to the Washington Post a few weeks before the election and nothing at all for almost 4 decades before that. I think the point was that the small handful (what is it, two?) older teen girls whom he actually dated had said that their parents knew. The only way the 14-year-old's story is at all credible is if her parents had no freaking clue a 30+ man was trying to date her ... which is harder to believe if he's calling her home. If the issue of Moore's past, true or not, is only a minor issue for the voters, then they are voting on other issues... If Jones wins, it is because the people of Alabama really love the idea of unlimited abortion and open borders. How does that make sense? One of the problems of journalism is too much emphasis on the future on not enough on the past, which is what journalism is supposed to be. Too much of "Will this guy go to jail?" and "Who is going to win the big game?" and "Are we going to go to war?" That last one especially, since the media can't answer "Are we currently at war?" right. How about the newsies focus on what happened and leave the forecasting to the weather guy? SCOTUS ruled back in 1969 that Congress does not have the ability to not seat duly elected representatives unless they fail to meet the criteria laid out in the Constitution (Powell v. McCormack was the case title I think). So unless Yertle has credible evidence to show that a) Moore is not yet 30 years old b) Moore has not been a citizen for at least 9 years OR c) Moore is not a resident of Alabama, he is SOL on that. Also Senate ethics rules do not allow Senators to be removed for behavior alleged to happen before they were Senators. Posted by: redbanzai at December 12, 2017 07:46 PM (FTXAT) 204

In 1978 a phone extension in a teenage girls bedroom would be memorable.
==== I had one then. Posted by: Laurie Strode at December 12, 2017 07:50 PM (nILVB) We had one phone in the kitchen with a 2000 foot long cord. When my grandma died, we got another phone that we put in the den. I had a friend who had a phone in her room-- it was a big deal in 1977.
