CNN and company are guilty of "Lies of Omission" and outright lying along with agenda journalism. Nothing done by any of MBM is a "mistake." A mistake is made by someone who does something wrong through lack of knowledge and, in the process, learns something. (one would hope) CNN and company have zero interesting in learning anything and, instead are out to put President Trump, and, by extension, us Deplorables, in our place. Therefore, CNN and company will say and report anything, as long as it is damaging to President Trump, facts be damned. /whoo hoo! that was a fun rant! I think there is an active strategy being exploited by some of trying to create fake news about the Right, knowing that it will buy their side one news cycle.
They know that their "news" will be revealed to be a hoax, but if you only watch cnn, or msnbc, or reddit, you will spend the day wading through how this is most-worst and never hear the retractions. The next day the truth will out, and this will consume the Right with frustration, while the Left moves on to the new most-worst "news." They are exploiting the fast news cycle, the proliferation of opinion news instead of fact news, and the lack of an unbiased common news source. This goes back to the "overwhelm the network" strategy, and is based on having a slim majority on their side of the news divide. This is how we got Trump, so I say, Good on them. Keep at it, boys. Not a target pistol, like Rugers or Brownings etc., but the S ampersand W M ampersand P 22 semi is very nice. Of course the platform is based on the M and P line, so a service pistol format. Have fed it at least 5 brands of 22LR, with only a very occasional FTF. Accuracy is actually fine for my purposes (easy to hit steel plates @ 50 yards). So, if you are OK with a service vs. target pistol, check out the Smith M and P 22. Posted by: rhomboid at December 11, 2017 04:41 PM (QDnY+) 272

The light recoil and muzzle blast of a pistol cartridge makes it easier for a wide variety of users to shoot. You can also have just one caliber to worry about, if you get a carbine in the same caliber as your carry pistol. And you get all that with the fairly ergonomic AR platform, where most of the controls are easy to use. And it's going to be familiar to anyone who uses rifle caliber ARs. For ammo, I have to use ammoseek dot com, none for sale in local shops . . .For me it was the AR platform. 18 gazillion options already on the market for it and the rail let's me try out different optics and switch them out to my regular AR-15. Of course what Brown says about the fires is idiotic - he's lost his mind in recent years, seriously. Dramatic change from before.
But don't be so quick to assume that *any* human policies or practices matter in regards to fires under these conditions. They generally don't. Check the geologic record, that shows many droughts in what is now CA lasting 100 years, or more. Many many many such periods. "Normal" in this region ranges between distant extremes, though arid is the "main normal" going back 10s of thousands of years. It doesn't mean there aren't smarter/dumber policies on brush removal, forest cleaning, controlled burns, etc. Of course there are. And of course most "environmental" objections must now be almost dismissed out of hand - that is low the credibility has become with those whose job it is to actually analyze such things. But in (comparatively) extreme conditions like right now - big fuel increase via wet season last year, producing lots of vegetation, extremely low humidity, Santa Ana winds, unusual strong high pressure ridge blocking all "weather" from the southwest - these policies are marginal or meaningless. Firestorms cannot be prevented, period. Posted by: rhomboid at December 11, 2017 04:53 PM (QDnY+) 356

I think this has been going on for much longer than originally believed, but the Tea Party era really kicked everything into a high gear. The MFM was doing everything now that they were doing then, but our ability to share and spread more news and with a different critical eye (and know we weren't alone in our observations) made the MFM's agenda obvious. When they couldn't hide their actions, they just moved on to rationalizations of it. And now it's just pure, overt hatred that they are losing money, power, and prestige for being outed and The Deplorables aren't taking their sh*t any more. So now it's outright war. And we can tip our hat to Andrew Breitbart for the war cry and countless others for engaging the battles. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at December 11, 2017 04:57 PM (H8S+R) 373

In fact, much like California the liberals flocked to MA largely because of the colleges and universities and then stayed. MA Democrats of the 60s and 70s were in the Jack Kennedy mold, not my favorite but nothing like the crazy ass moonbats of today.
Posted by: JackStraw at December 11, 2017 04:47 PM (/tuJf) He would not fit with the Dems today. Can you imagine someone saying "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?" In today's political climate? They'd be eviscerated for some kind of ism, or victim shaming. The Left has gone off the rails. Started with Clintons, and then Obama took us into Marxist territory. And now it is 24/7 crazy. Of course what Brown says about the fires is idiotic - he's lost his mind in recent years, seriously
He was always a lunatic. He was called Moonbeam in the 70s for a reason. The nickname was coined by Mike Royko, the famed Chicago columnist, who in 1976 said that Mr. Brown appeared to be attracting "the moonbeam vote" The term had a nice California feel, and Mr. Royko eventually began applying it when he wrote about the Golden State's young, idealistic and nontraditional chief executive. He found endless amusement -- and sometimes outright agita -- in California's oddities, calling the state "the world's largest outdoor mental asylum." "If it babbles and its eyeballs are glazed," he noted in April 1979, "it probably comes from California." Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 11, 2017 04:59 PM (39g3+) 380

CaliGirl sorry to hear the smoke's up your way. I don't think there's much chance of the Thomas fire itself making it that far, for a variety of reasons.
When was the Montecito fire? 1980s? Anyway that plush place is made to burn during a firestorm like this, with all the oil bombs, er, I mean eucalyptus trees and perennially dried out pines. My friend in Ventura really dodged the barrage. His house is less than a 1/2 mile from the huge swathe cut by the Thomas fire as it raged towards the coast from Santa Paula. Journalists are professionals. According to them. But there is no testing or licensing. Journalists claim they are trained. Because they graduated from a journalism program at a college.
Except not all of them even have that journalism diploma as proof of "training." As in: Brian Williams, Matt Lauer (he dropped out of J-school and went to work as a local TV reporter; he got his degree many years after he had been hired by NBC), and Chuck Todd. Those are the ones that come to mind...interesting that all three are/were with NBC. So we citizens have the privilege of being lectured and hectored by self-proclaimed trained professionals whose only real talent seems to be constructing sentences that impress their editors and other journalists. I think they can if they can if they are under a certain income level. BTW, there are plenty of people in NY and NJ and CA, I assume, who voted from Trump. The ones who did get outvoted by people from large cities who tend to vote democratic Posted by: FenelonSpoke at December 11, 2017 05:15 PM (8+Ozj) 466

Maasholes are the worst, even worse than NYers since Massholes are super smug on top of being rude assholes.
Well, I'd like to defend the residents of the state I currently live in. But I can't. Because this is pretty spot-on. Smug, virtue-signalling, self-righteous, full-of-themselves. 'I'm really surprised so many Asians are such left wingers....'
I'm already willowed, but I've never understood it either. Dems go against virtually ally Asian values. Posted by: harry lime at December 11, 2017 05:18 PM (ALDN3) 472
OT/ chain migration: displacing and replacing Western civilians in Europe & America.
I have no idea if the vetting is any good, or if it is even stringent. Also, the number of family members is insane. One person becomes 10-20 really fast....at least when it is from the Middle East. Scary bad. It needs to end. Posted by: Professor Chaos Gumdrop Gorilla at December 11, 2017 05:18 PM (r3KsD) 473
I'm on your side, I don't refer to the middle of the country as fly over country. I also think that's reprehensible and get defensive for my fellow Americans. Like when some people said Texas deserved the hurricanes because they voted for Trump. That is unacceptable.
