Not a target pistol, like Rugers or Brownings etc., but the S ampersand W M ampersand P 22 semi is very nice. Of course the platform is based on the M and P line, so a service pistol format. Have fed it at least 5 brands of 22LR, with only a very occasional FTF. Accuracy is actually fine for my purposes (easy to hit steel plates @ 50 yards). So, if you are OK with a service vs. target pistol, check out the Smith M and P 22.

You get more velocity out of a longer barrel and tremendously more accuracy. The light recoil and muzzle blast of a pistol cartridge makes it easier for a wide variety of users to shoot.
You can also have just one caliber to worry about, if you get a carbine in the same caliber as your carry pistol.
And you get all that with the fairly ergonomic AR platform, where most of the controls are easy to use. And it's going to be familiar to anyone who uses rifle caliber ARs.

Culver City was pretty close to the Skirball fire (one that painted the spectacular picture on the slopes along the I-405 near the Getty Museum), but the fire didn't go that direction. Culver City is built up urban area, not very vulnerable to wild fires.

But don't be so quick to assume that *any* human policies or practices matter in regards to fires under these conditions. They generally don't.
Check the geologic record, that shows many droughts in what is now CA lasting 100 years, or more. Many many many such periods. "Normal" in this region ranges between distant extremes, though arid is the "main normal" going back 10s of thousands of years.
It doesn't mean there aren't smarter/dumber policies on brush removal, forest cleaning, controlled burns, etc. Of course there are. And of course most "environmental" objections must now be almost dismissed out of hand - that is low the credibility has become with those whose job it is to actually analyze such things.
But in (comparatively) extreme conditions like right now - big fuel increase via wet season last year, producing lots of vegetation, extremely low humidity, Santa Ana winds, unusual strong high pressure ridge blocking all "weather" from the southwest - these policies are marginal or meaningless. Firestorms cannot be prevented, period.

When I was a kid (1960s) California was 90% white, 8% black, and the rest were Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese. Now it is 40% Mexican. Soon to be plus 50%. I hate seeing what Inland California has become. Total Tijuana Shit House.

I think this has been going on for much longer than originally believed, but the Tea Party era really kicked everything into a high gear. The MFM was doing everything now that they were doing then, but our ability to share and spread more news and with a different critical eye (and know we weren't alone in our observations) made the MFM's agenda obvious. When they couldn't hide their actions, they just moved on to rationalizations of it. And now it's just pure, overt hatred that they are losing money, power, and prestige for being outed and The Deplorables aren't taking their sh*t any more.
So now it's outright war.
And we can tip our hat to Andrew Breitbart for the war cry and countless others for engaging the battles.

If it's an ammo fault, I'll accept that. But if it's mechanically
not 99% AND it's not more accurate than my major caliber pistols...it's
just not fun for me.
I have a .22 revolver but I don't really enjoy shooting revolvers. They don't seem to fit my hand the way good autoloaders do.

.It's the fault of the ammo. .22 cal is dirty ammo. Not from the powder but from the rimfire primer. It will jam every single semi-auto out there and it does bind up revolvers too but that takes a whole lot more shooting.

As in: Brian Williams, Matt Lauer (he dropped out of J-school and went to work as a local TV reporter; he got his degree many years after he had been hired by NBC), and Chuck Todd. Those are the ones that come to mind...interesting that all three are/were with NBC.
So we citizens have the privilege of being lectured and hectored by self-proclaimed trained professionals whose only real talent seems to be constructing sentences that impress their editors and other journalists.
