Thread before the Gardening Thread: Speaking up [KT]

splu.jpg

Freedom to speak up in the NHS

At the link above, a video about speaking up concerning conditions leading the patient deaths in a government medical system. Why do you suppose that freedom to speak up would be an issue?

Stealing a couple of interesting items from Maggie's Farm today:

Dr. Joy Bliss: Reading aloud helps you remember more information.

One guy who reads aloud quite often is Mark Steyn. Which brings us to his fine fisking of "the heroic Lindsay Shepherd's outrageous 'investigation' by Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario'. He compares her treatment to the free speech trial he faced in Canada.

Steyn is just fun to listen to.

I know we touched on this subject last week, but Steyn really is a lot more fun than trying to listen to the original inquisition. Rips the inquisitors up. Video below the fold.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Ex-Fox News Anchor Juliet Huddy Says Trump Kissed Her On Lips After A Lunch

Oh wait, past the headline:

"He went to say goodbye and he, rather than kiss me on the cheek, he leaned in on the lips."

Huddy, whom Trump knew because she co-hosted "Fox & Friends" on the weekends, said she assumed Trump's lip kiss was just confusion: "Oh, we went the wrong way," she said.

Huddy said she was surprised he went for her lips but "didn't feel threatened." In fact, she brought a friend back to Trump Tower so that the future president could give them a tour of "The Apprentice" set.

Huddy believes Trump was single at the time, and, after checking the math, host Bill Schulz said it was possible he wasn't engaged to Melania Trump at the time of the kiss.

If the media/MSM weren't in the Democras' back pocket,

and if they were a functioning, investigatorial, non-ideologically aligned body,

the Democrats would simply never win another election,

or they would be a very different national party hewing more to the middle, closer to reality, and far, far less anti-American and anti-Western values.

And they would be of actual value to the nation, instead of a horrible stable of perverts and liars.

24 >>Hey, remember the planned parenthood sting operation and the claim that the videos were doctored? Guess who made the initial claim they were edited in order to discredit them? Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS. Small world.

It's a little tighter than that. Planned Parenthood hired Fusion GPS to review the videos to determine their authenticity. Fusion in turn claims they hired a video expert to do the actual work. And then with remarkable speed, the story that they were faked was spread throughout the media. Unexpectedly.

Why would you hire Fusion GPS to review videos if the had no expertise to actually do a forensic review? Pretty obvious why.

I hope we get to see Fusion's bank records so we can see all of their customers and all of their clients. I'm sure it will clear up a lot of things.

Don't ask a question you don't already know the answer to.

If you want to know the truth the questions are now more important than the answers.

The answers merely expose where one sits in the Swamp.

61 The question now is :

WHO IS NOT A DEEP STATE OPERATIVE?

Donald Trump, of course.

I'm guessing Admiral Michael Rogers, head of NSA.

Sessions

Mulvaney

Mike Pompeo

Mattis, maybe.

Nikki Haley

Rex Tillerson, maybe

General Kelly

After this list I have to think long and hard of anyone else Trump could Trust.

Willowed comment from yesterday:

Adm. Rogers had a one on one early on with Trump. He made sure the keys to the country were handed over to the constitutionally chosen leader. Trump got the minimum of info about what the swamp was up to and how they did it (FISA Warrants, GPS Fusion Documents).

The Resistance, (Obama, CLinton, Jarrett, Holder, Rice, Powers, Clapper, Brennan, Mueller, Comey, McCabe, Yates, Weissmann, Strzok, McMaster, McCain, GPS Fusion, etc.) were abusing national security well before Trump was elected.

They were all dirty, and this was their only play. All or nothing, Trump had to go.

And of course Mueller had to stack his investigation with Resistance collaborators. Anybody with a smidgen of independence would be a risk on blowing a whistle on the whole shebang.

Rogers showed the deck that was stacked against Trump to Trump. And Trump shuffle up his own deck. He has kept his actions, though controversial, scrupulous.

He hasn't fallen for their traps that would make impeachment more likely and he has made the legal side of things snap down on the other side.

He also didn't go out after Clinton or others before the Hog Trap was set up. They will all hang together in their conspiracies.

When Nunes went to Trump with the dirt he found, Trump told him "hmmmmmmm, interesting. Thanks. Make sure that you do everything as clean as possible"

That showed Nunes that Trump was already on top of things, and that's why Nunes submitted to the bogus ethics investigation without resisting much.

Nunes is back in the game, so now Trump has a new front opened back up against The Resistance. Nunes, like Patton before D-Day, has been cooling heels thinking about how to move forward when given a chance.

Another front will be the IG report. It will be a bombshell.

The other front is the congressional oversight committees. You might say that they are toothless, but The Resistance will be more apprehensive about the hearings than they were when Lynch and Holder refused to uphold the law.

The Mueller investigation is a quagmire for the Resistance. Their only exit strategy was to find dirt on Trump to impeach in order to protect themselves. Not happening.

They were hogs going after corn and didn't notice the fence being put up around them.

They were hogs going after corn and didn't notice the fence being put up around them.

Really good analysis.

THAT is why Trump should not shut down the Mueller investigation.

Trump is getting things done. And the investigation is hurting Democrats. The longer it goes on, the more it is hurting Democrats.

Sure, CNN can scream "IMPEACHMENT TODAY!!!" but at some point, people will notice it's not happening.

81 >>Well, one was Facebook, the other twatter, so yeah, that's two!

Their sources came from inside the government, either the IC or someone on the House Intel Committee. My guess would be the IC.

One thing that really needs to be kept in mind is that there are nearly 30 active leak investigations going on right now, maybe more. One common tactic used to ferret out leakers is to purposely give fake information to suspected leakers and see what they do with it.

If you remember back at the beginning of Trump's administration when leaks were crippling his team's ability to operate, Trump ran a sting to uncover leakers. He got a briefing from the IC but didn't tell anyone on his staff, not even his longtime personal assistant, and then he waited to see what happened.

When the information about the meeting leaked, he knew that the leaks were coming from the IC.

There's a lot more going on behind the scenes than we have seen so far with various investigations.

You're right in that his responses could be a part of Trump and Sessions keeping their cards close to their vest.

But I believe an indicator is the relative ease and alacrity (following the controversial Comey firing) with which his appointment to his post occurred.

If he were aboard the Swamp Draining/MAGA agenda there would have been a greater resistance to his appointment. The only appointment easier than his was Rosenstein's.

88 Baseball news: Yankees traded for Stanton. Waiting on Stanton to approve and pass physical. Guess they will not be pursuing Bryce Harper after next season.
Posted by: Monk at December 09, 2017 11:49 AM (g4lFK)

Cardinals had him wrapped up a couple days ago. Stanton said no.

Fine, go to New York. Let the Yankees get him as he's heading in to the down side of his career. In the era of the luxury tax, you CANNOT throw all the money you want at over the hill sluggers. Stanton has been injury prone his whole career, and he's a one dimensional player anyway.

As a Cardinals fan, I breathed a sigh of relief when they didn't get him. Stanton may not be as big a bust as Pujols was/is for the Angels, but it's funny to be a baseball fan when you WANT your team to sign all the big name stars, and then you watch how teams actually win Pennants and World Series.

The Yankee model of the 70s (Reggie and Goose and all the rest) and late 90s (when steroids were the answer), won't work anymore.

From everything I've been able to find on him, he is a boyscout. There really wasn't anything to hang on him. He was brought in to help clean up the mess but also to restore a sense of integrity at the FBI. I think he's clean as a whistle.

I also saw a report last night that he is pressuring the OIG to expedite his report, deliver it in weeks and not months. I don't think he enjoyed being grilled in the House and being made to look like he was stonewalling.

But I do agree with most of the rest of your analysis. I would remind anyone who does think that all Congressional investigations are useless that the only reason there is an OIG investigation going on right now is because it was called for by the heads of various Congressional committees, Republicans one and all.

Our family has had to be medevaced to London several times over our overseas careers for emergency treatment, and every single procedure had to be redone in the States. Their protocols are based on lowest cost, rather than most effective. I think their nursing care was quite good, and the nurses actually spent time with patients getting to know them, and trying to alleviate pain as much as possible. That's something our hospitals could take note of. They also give you gas to knock you out before starting IV's, which is a nice touch. But probably not as safe-I'm sure medical types in the Horde can weigh in on this.

Thanks for the insight. My instincts were driven by the lack of validating information. Your research into Wray exceeds my knowledge about his and I defer to your expertise.

Here's to hoping that your endorsement of Wray doesn't put egg on your face like Comey and Mueller did Andy McCarthy's. But I trust your distance makes you a more objective judge on his character than McCarthy's on Comey and Mueller.

I always pay attention to your posts and pay more attention to who you reference. Keep up the good work.

Well thanks. I've become addicted to this thing, it's like watching the biggest spy thriller ever unfold right before our eyes.

I honestly can't figure Mueller out at this point. I get that he has a pretty swampy background but the way he is running this investigation is downright odd.

We can all see the obvious bias he has injected into this investigation with the people he has hired. Why would he do that? He's not an idiot, he had to know this would set off all sorts of alarms.

And he knew exactly who Strzok was and what he had done long before he hired him. I'm not a lawyer but it would seem by injecting Strzok into the Flynn case he has given Flynn's lawyers a real opportunity to call for his case to be thrown out because of undisclosed prosecutor bias.

And then why would he turn around and replace Strzok with a guy who is at least as biased if not more? It just doesn't make any sense unless he is trying to run a bad investigation.

'zactly.

The thing is, I don't have a problem with the press being tough on our side, as long as it's not this stupid laziness of throwing wild accusations against the wall that we've seen over the past 10 years or so. If they wanted to be tough on conservatives, there's PLENTY of legit issues to do it with.

But the MFM doesn't have the work ethic to actually do the legwork to legitimately expose scandals. It's so much easier to just cut/paste a note from FusionGPS and send to the printer so they can go back to snarking like junior high school girls on Twitter.

And it makes for even more free time to play with your smartphone when you just ignore everything one side of the aisle does.

I'm indifferent to the Yankees, because they're in the American League, where they don't play real baseball anyway.

But seriously, adding big bats to one's lineup is never a bad thing, but there is a law of diminishing returns in baseball. You already have the best young right handed hitter in the lineup already... and yes, Judge is significantly better than Stanton. So adding another has less impact on this team than it would several others.

Baseball is about balance. Table setters, who get on base, defensive players who have at LEAST as much value as hitters. You have two right fielders now. Something has to give. If you take one of the other outfielders out of that lineup, you will get worse defense (Stanton is not a plus defensive player). Put him in the DH role, and well, again, you're replacing a good bat with a better bat, and that doesn't help your team as much as fans tend to think it will.

That was clearly political and corrupt at the highest levels of government.

I shudder to even think this but there is another possibility, Mueller is cooperating with Trump and team in an effort to out all of the leakers and out of control operatives in the DOJ and beyond. The way he is featuring his team members it almost makes it easy to identify their corruption and severely damage if not cripple any charges they have brought against others.

I'm not married to this theory cause it does sound too much like a bad spy thriller but this is one bizarre piece of the puzzle.

That's more an admonition to Christians not to take personal vengeance. It's not a guarantee that temporally, there will be a punishment meted out that will correspond to the offense of the perp. The NT rejects that notion - bing "Tower of Siloam".

I think the OT is ambivalent about that issue, but I'm forget the specifics.

The underlings seldom get busted and under a Hillary or Jeb administration with no push back it's all upside. But seldom is not never. Sometimes the winds change and some justice arrives and some underlings get burned. But the kingpin --Daley or Obama for example--the dirt NEVER ties into them directly. They are dirty but the underlings are the only ones with actual dirty hands.

288 So, a question for the Horde re: NFL, as per a discussion I had with the only relative I'm in contact with.

IF the NFL started benching players that kneeled, and, as a result, those teams lost, would fans come back?

Conversely, is winning the only reason people watch the game?

In other words, would you stop watching if it was kneeler teams vs. non- kneeler teams, and the kneeler teams were all second stringers?

I used to fish next to his house. It's in the very tony town of Cohasset, MA, on a feature called the Gulf, which is a short tidal river leading back and forth to a salt pond.

I will never be a famous athlete or movie star or musician, but if I was I would at least have the good sense to know I'm not famous for my brains. And then would keep my mouth shut, except when the people who are paid to think for me tell me what to say, and when.

About all Joe did for that 600 grand was to make commercials featuring Joe standing on the bow of a tanker entering Boston Harbor like Leonardo Dicaprio carrying free oil from "our friends in Venezuela", and then lugging a hose from an oil truck to some old lady's house while she stood at the window and waved to him. His buddy Hugo Chavez probably figured it was worth it just to embarrass W, and Joe was a willing tool for that.
Then once Obama was elected, poor people went away, Hugo cut him off, then croaked and Citizens Energy pretty much became irrelevant. But Joe's still there and I'm willing to bet he's still pulling 6 figures to do very little.

I like football. A lot. I don't care much for kollege, because there's too much disparity in the quality of players available. Even on the best teams, you have great players, destined for the NFL, and guys who will be selling insurance in a few months.

I want a pro football game, where excellence is rewarded on the field, in the form of wins and losses, the players do their jobs, get paid a decent wage, don't have to worry TOO much about being killed on the field, and competition drives the market.

You know, like the NFL used to be.

I still cannot for the life of me understand why the football training academy is still provided by colleges. I mean, come on. These are not students. The few of them who ARE students could just as easily do what many other people do... work and go to school. 364 I love snow games
Also I just knew the Daily Mail would have first picture of Lisa Page, as a old Air Force crew mate use to say " Not worth leaving home over"

365 Ignoramus, not that it's an entirely new development, but this "Russia" idiocy has lowered my estimation of the civic intelligence of the country even more.

Sure, they're young people, but two young women (one a relative, one a daughter of an old friend), in the past year, out of the blue, expressed "fear" and the like about "Russia". These youngsters aren't dumb, per se, but could probably barely place Russia on the map. WTFF???

Just another data point on how disastrously misinformed, dumbed down, and bereft of thinking skills today's America has become (not just the young).

And let's not forget the jaw-dropping performance of GOP types in Congress. Showing what appeared to be genuine anger and concern about "Russian interference" in US elections? WTFF, again? Chance Russia or any other sovereign power could materially affect our elections: 0. And these are "politicians", who should at least know something about their trade.

Wayne County, MI, having election integrity far below that of Iraq on January 30, 2005? No problem. Trivial, ridiculous, meaningless meddling out beyond the margins by FSB interns or bored apparatchiks? National effing crisis.

366 I've been calling it the Sleep of Reason for nearly a decade.

We've gotten dumber as a nation because more have been going to college. Belief in CAGW is a good indicator of this.

Much depends on 15% of our population waking up.

What is even more interesting and disturbing to me?

We use Tax dollars to try to influence OTHER countries elections.

Radio Free Europe morphed into Radio Liberty...

I don't hear a RUSSIAN owned Radio network broadcasting here...

And the State Dept. blatantly tried to interfere in Israel's election process...

Yet Russia MAYBE doing an ad buy on Facebook is somehow an act of WAR???

Our hypocrisy is overwhelming...

Pfft. It's been snowing here, on and off, since Thur. night. Power off in sections of the neighborhood.

And the wheels of justice grind slowly but surely.

I'll have to record the rest as I'm off to see Gary Numan at the 930 Club.

Gotta get my eyeliner "A" game on. Later good people!
