I cannot stress strongly enough how deeply the manifold scandals with the FBI labs and the creation of bite mark pattern matching out of whole cloth and the issues with arson ignition points and on and on and on have impacted how I view criminal convictions and, most particularly, the death penalty.
No, I no longer trust that any forensic lab has done its job properly because the worldwide platinum standard on that was the FBI labs and the problems there was endemic and have been going on for decades.
I want to be able to trust that the FBI lab results are as solid as science can make them and I can't. I want to trust that FBI agents are not just making up testimony on the fly and I can't.
This is a betrayal that's been going on for decades and decades and there have been no efforts made to address publicly the very real concerns.
Instead the response is Not All FBI Agents and how dare you impugn their integrity and blah blah blah.
You know why people hate lawyers? Because 99% of them give 1% a bad name. I feel the same way about the FBI.
Add in that FBI telling the oversight committees that nah, brah, we don't have to abide by no stinkin' subpoena and I'm at the point of shut the whole thing down, fire everyone, and start over completely.
A pox on them all.

Simply donating to a candidate or having worked for someone in the past doesn't mean you cannot do a good job as an investigator or lawyer. Just about every laywer alive has had clients they didn't like, but worked for because its their job. All lawyers have political viewpoints and leanings one way or another.
Its when they take that too far; when they demonstrate they are unable to function properly or are willing to bend the law to harm someone that they are shown to be unfit for the job.
The guy that got fired, Scrabble, whatever his name was, he showed that in his texts. I would argue that so did Weissman by his emails. That's what people need to find, not guilt by association or "well he worked for/donated to x." There's no lawyer alive who could pass that test.

I was looking at it from an intelligence standpoint. He's seen certain paperwork plus... he knows what he did and did not do. Hell, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he had his own investigation team, and has had it since before the election.

That's not exclusively a DC phenom. A guy I know was involved in a lawsuit over the sale of his business and subsequent tanking of the business by the new, large corporate owner. As a side note, I helped him a bit with research, and from what I could see he actually had a damned good case.
Anyway, dude used to tell EVERYONE about the lawsuit. EVERYONE. His friends, his friend's friends, his friend's friend's tennis partners, his bartender, and some guy he met in the mess named Bernard. Even though he was absolutely sure that the company was following him around with private investigators (they were, as it turned out).
I kept telling him to keep his big mouth shut, but noooooo. In the end, he settled for a pittance. Most likely his big mouth compromised his fairly strong case.

On the election night, they had the EXACT same election night coverage as the US networks. Reporters on the scene all night, tally boards, the whole nine yards. It was identical to the US coverage.

There have been very hopeful tweets and other info about the IG investigation, including here a couple of days ago. I hope it's true. IG's normally are about process, but they can certainly uncover criminal wrongdoing, if it exists.
If there is an active IG investigation that would be interefered with by a Special Counsel, then it would make no sense to appoint an SC. This may be what Sessions was alluding to in his testimony about the criteria for appointing an SC, under questioning by Jim Jordan. He would have been referring, indirectly, to the guidelines that an SC is appointed when the DOJ is not capable of investigating wrongdoing internally, but if the DOJ is already investigating it internally, then by definition you don't meet the criteria for appointment of an SC. Again, let's hope so.
I've been calling for an SC for months to investigate the non-investigation of Hillary by the DOJ and FBI. It was so obvious that it was intended from the outset to result in no charges. Strzok's presence in the midst of it, at key junctures, solidifies my belief that the fix was in. They thought Hillary would win and that there would be no repercussions, perhaps even promotions. Again, let's hope there is an IG investigation and that it is a bombshell.
