Tears of a Bitter Deranged Clown: Rosie O'Donnell Melts Down Over Tax Reform Passage in Serial-Killerish Way

If someone sent you letters that looked like these tweets, you'd call the cops and buy several guns.

She wasn't the only noisily-flapping fruitbat:

12 You know Trump is really hitting some liberal nerve when they get this unhinged.

This must go beyond a simple tax code change.

It's like they're losing more than we even know, but they realize it and obviously can't or won't say what specific gravy train is running out.

Not. Tired. Of. Winning.

441 Please pardon the following wall of word:

CMP 1911 Information

To all CMP constituents:

The CMP Board of Directors has discussed at length how the sales of 1911s would be handled, if the CMP were to ever receive them from the United States Army.

Some preliminary decisions:

1. Decisions concerning the grade and pricing of the 1911s will not be made until inspection has occurred of a substantial quantity which will take an estimated 150 days post receipt.
2. All laws pertaining to the sale of 1911s by CMP will be strictly obeyed.
3. Potential purchasers will have to provide to CMP a new set of documents exhibiting: 1) proof of U.S. Citizenship, 2) proof of membership in a CMP affiliated club, 3) proof of participation in a marksmanship activity, 4) a new form 2A with notary, 5) successful completion of a NICS background check, 6) a signed copy of the 01 Federal Firearms License in which the 1911 will be transferred to.
4. The CMP customer will be required to complete a form 4473 in person and successfully complete another NICS check by the recipient FFL holder before the pistol can be transferred.
5. Qualified CMP customer will only be allowed to purchase one 1911 per calendar year.
6. No 1911s available in the CMP stores, or on line, only mail order sales.
7. CMP will set the date in which it will accept orders for the 1911s. The date will be posted to the world.
8. Orders will only be accepted via mail order delivery.
9. Orders will only be accepted post marked on the date or after, no early orders.
10. Once CMP receives 10,000 orders, customer names will be loaded into the Random Number Generator.
11. The Random Number Generator will provide a list of names in sequence order through a random picking process to CMP.
12. Customers will be contacted in the sequence provided by the Random Number Generator.
13. When the customer is contacted a list of 1911 grades and pricing options that are available will be offered for selection of one.
14. As CMP proceeds down the sequenced list less grade and pricing options will be available. Again, this done completely random.

Bowling - sport or not?

Posted by: votermom pimping great books! at December 04, 2017 08:36 PM (hMwEB)

Bowling is a sport. Many people's perception is a bunch of out of shape people drinking beer and smoking cigars. The same could be said of Saturday softball leagues. The pro bowlers are on a whole different level than the recreational level. The thing that no one can see is the oil pattern on the lane. The amount of oil and the length of the pattern dictates how you play the lanes. I've bowled on some of the pro shots. I'm a scratch (200+ average) on house shots. I've never been able to average more than a 178 on pro shots. The pros average more than 225 on the same shots.So, the pros are like MLB players, and the recreational guys are like the Saturday softball guys. A huge world of difference.

Interesting -- all the sub genres and classes of hentai.

"Yuri" = lesbo
"Nekomimi" = catgirl
"Futanari" = chick with dicks

The tentacle porn is a genre itself -- Only name given is that, and that Japanese word for it spelled out in Japanese characters.

The Berkeley chess club had any number of nationally (internationally?) ranked players. A room full of nerds, nary a gal in sight. Not that I was even remotely competitive; my obsession lay in science, not in chess.

Still, my favorite recollection was a guy getting his balls beaten off by one of the highly ranked players. The guy resigned, and his opponent said, "Your position is not hopeless."

At which point he turned the board around, and proceeded to beat the guy's balls off again.

It's really something. Slightly trippy, but totally controllable. And the feelings are just overwhelming. Sometimes it's a bit embarrassing afterwards ... but still pretty awesome. I did it for a little while many, many years ago. Good times.

There's a wonderful passage in one of Lawrence Block's Matt Scudder books, in which an Irish gangster talks about how he did cocaine once, and loved it, and decided, that day, never to do it again, because Irish Whiskey made him feel as good as he ever needed to feel.

That's pretty smart. I did coke for a very short while. I liked it so much that I had a rule that I could never do it two days in a row because I knew it would be a spiral downhill from there. I was into it for one summer and then never touched the stuff again. It scared me, in terms of how easy it was to get really sucked into it.

With a mom like that you can sense why he might not want to have a woman in power. I hope he grows up with better women around him to help him know they aren't all that. Because that's how you get woman hating wife beaters. That's where misogyny comes from.

I grew up surrounded by Christian, smart, loving, supportive, and good women. My mom, my aunts, my grandmother, so strong and good to me and all around them, but never putting up with wrong.

Pseudointellectuals ignore the role of emotion - and therefore leadership - in sports (or any other human activity, for that matter). They overlook it, and focus on numbers, at their peril. See, e.g., Robert McNamara and the Vietnam War for a signal example.

697 Here's an example of economists failing. Every basic historical and economic standard says that simply printing money to pay for things without an economy to back it should cause rampant inflation. Out of control.

Yet for 8 years, the Obama administration spent more and more and more money on everything they wanted, DOUBLING the debt, creating deficits over a trillion dollars despite never having growth of even 3% overall for that time period.

There was inflation, mostly hidden by the press and clever accounting, but it wasn't the huge inflation you'd expect. Other factors entered in and made the system not give the typical results.

Its fundamental problem in becoming a science is that it's purely observational. It's not possible to do controlled experiments, and so economists are reduced to making observations and trying to draw conclusions from them, but as you say, there are lots of uncontrolled variables in between observations that confound the interpretation.

But party registration is public record (in most states?). Personally, I find that creepy. I can type anyone's name into the PA state site and get their voting registry information. And they can do the same to me. I don't see how my registration is ANYONE's business, at all - not whether I'm registered or not and certainly not if I am registered for a party. Creepy, creepy stuff. But it's been like this forever. I guess the easier access through the web makes it that much creepier and offensive.

Making sense isn't the standard, unfortunately. Predicting future outcomes is. Internal consistency is a necessary but not sufficient condition for utility. Krugman is also a big Asimov's Foundation series fan; individual human behavior isn't predictable, but the behavior of large groups of humanity should be theoretically possible.

Krugman's problem has always been working from the wrong direction though; defining his preferred outcomes first, then trying to work back the best means of incentivizing said behavior.

You touch on the fundamental problem with economics; its conclusions are confounded by irrational behavior.

The rational market hypothesis is obviously nonsense; see last week's swings as a case in point. Economists invoke the rational market hypothesis as an intellectual fig leaf that will let them use calculus, and thereby look science-y, and less like a down-at-heel version of physics. But there's no way to account mathematically for people getting a wild hair up their asses over nothing substantive, much less an outbreak of mass delusion - in short, the sort of thing that happens all the time in real world economics.

Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at December 04, 2017 09:54 PM (YqDXo)

736 As far as economy is concerned, Paul Krugman needs to officially announce that he is not an economist. He can continue to write columns, but only wearing a sign saying in big letters: "HACK".

A "bit" of data storage in a quantum computer. But it's not a single state bit. The bit in a quantum computer can hold both states simultaneously. This is what allows (will allow) quantum computers to increase processing and memory exponentially over standard computers, thereby being able to tackle many problems that are considered practically intractable today (and breaking all standard cryptography, used up to now, in the process).

781 That is absolute fact. We need dads. And not just men who donated sperm but fathers, men who are there to teach the children, lead, provide, protect, and build. Teach a boy how to be a man by how you behave, and how to treat a woman. Teach a woman what to properly expect from a man and keep her safe but not dependent.

We had a similar board game but it had pockets at the corners and wooden disks, more like rings, about 1/2" thick. It came with little sticks but we would let middle finger fly from thumb and those little wood pieces would slam.

801 (like that whole Tulip craze thing way back when)

Thomas MacKay wrote a masterful analysis of that craze in "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds"
First published in 1841, and amazingly still one of the most readable and insightful works on the topic. I've got a copy and re-read it about every 5 years.

One of Mackay's best quotes, and it not surprisingly applies to our political situation today, is "Men, it has been well said, think in herds, it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."

"If the streets raise you, then the judge becomes your mother and prison becomes your home. "

824 SNL has exposed to the entire world what we already knew: the show hasn't been funny for a long time, and specializes now in mere ridicule. They tried to poke fun at Ireland and ended up with what one viewer called a "hate crime". The Irish called it "unfunny paddywhackery", easy shots at sterotypes that didn't resonate at all.

NBC should go all Matt Lauer on the show. Fire them all. Start over.

===========================

I once met a Russian emigre living now in California who claimed to have taken the famous Soviet picture of FGP after he was shot down. The story went that he was the only person in his village to own a camera, and when the Russians knocked down the U2 the cops excitedly came and got him from his house, dragged him to the site and he snapped the official photos (as a young child) with his hobby camera. The cops took the film away when they left, and he kept the camera.

The grown man later came to America, after getting an engineering degree, moved to San Diego, invented a bunch of stuff (most notably, critical parts of the early tympanic thermometer), and made a pile of dough. No idea if his story was true but he sounded very believable as he told it.
