More
This specific charge is surprising because, as a seasoned intelligence officer, Mr. Flynn had to know that the U.S. would be listening to Mr. Kislyak's conversations and have transcripts. CNN reported on Feb. 17 that "the FBI interviewers believed Flynn was cooperative and provided truthful answers," even though he first said sanctions were not discussed and later said he couldn't recall. A Congressional source also tells us that former FBI director James Comey told the House Intelligence Committee on March 2 that his agents had concluded that Mr. Flynn hadn’t lied but had forgotten what had been discussed. Perhaps the FBI changed its view.In possibly related news -- I have no idea if the IG even knew about Strzok -- the Inspector General has been investigating charges of politicization of the FBI for eleven months. I didn't know about this. I don't think many people did.

If none of this produces any fruit in the way of indictments, charges, and trials, then we have a two or more tier legal system, in which folks like Micheal Flynn and Scooter Libbey are hounded for very minor matters, while Hillary Clinton et all gambol about committing treason, high crimes, and misdemeanors.

But we've all known that Barky weaponized every arm of the feral government he could and that the "Russia Collusion" farce was ridiculous from the start - from before the start, really. Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at December 04, 2017 07:00 PM (8gDQu) 53
NGU, absolutely. Who knows, maybe we'll see some version of that. It could be getting to that point.
And I think it's unfortunate there's so much focus on Strzok's apparently politics. I don't care about those. Only care about actions. His - and Comey's and many others'. Their *actions* are inexcusable, and in some cases probably criminal. Doubt it was Strzok's sole idea to 1) not record the Hillary interview 2) not have her under oath 3) contrary to normal practice, allow some co-conspirator/targets of the investigation to sit in as advisors or counsel. Ditto for all the other outrageous grants of immunity, de facto permission to destroy evidence, etc., that took place in the "investigation". And yeah I've long since not confused many legal and "elite" law enforcement types with nuclear weapon designers, any more than I'd confuse journalists with seriously smart people, but give me a break - "careless" vs. whatever. The negligence standard under the statute was clearly met - it's kind of a simple black/white thing - and the violations were systematic, gross, and involved dozens of people. Whose actions were ipso facto crimes. I recognize the country is dumbed down to the point of being unrecognizable, but we aren't all obligated to play along. Doubt it was Strzok's sole idea to 1) not record the Hillary interview
I don't know if/when they changed SOP, but the FBI was infamous for refusing to record their interviews. In court the only "source of truth" for ages was the FEEB's handwritten notes. It made arguing against their conclusions in court that much harder. Posted by: bonhomme at December 04, 2017 07:09 PM (zGsgt) Posted by: mrp at December 04, 2017 07:09 PM (Pqytn) 112

All sorts of evidence compromised. They're probably still hashing out the fallout in the court system due to wrongful convictions. God knows how much that cost taxpayers. The more I learn about the Flynn "case", the more puzzled I am. By his plea, mostly, but also that Mueller would have the ballz to pursue it as a case. And also puzzled by his behavior, of course. If it's true the initial FBI take on it was "meh", which seems to track with the facts, why would Flynn cop a plea to something so thin it's almost invisible? Talk of "broken", protecting his son, $$$ - they just don't sound right. Such a stupid case could be fought - and it's a non-zero chance the Mueller operation will go poof before too long anyway.
It certainly should. The almost certainly illegal creation of the office has been followed by bupkis being produced re the authorized "issue". Posted by: rhomboid at December 04, 2017 07:11 PM (QDnY+) 119

It's all true.
I was the guy who investigated Hillary's email server. I was the one who interviewed her on behalf of the FBI and concluded that she committed no crimes. I suggested to Comey that he change the wording in his exoneration memo to clear her of any crimes. I was the guy who examined Anthony Weiner's laptop in the days before the election and concluded Hillary's emails there were no problem. I was the guy who took the Russian Pee Party Dossier paid for by Hillary and used it to open an FBI investigation of Trumpworld. I was the one who interviewed General Flynn and concluded that he committed a felony in speaking with me. I was hired by Mueller to lead the FBI investigation of Trump and his people by the Special Counsel. And that's not all. I was in Benghazi when someone helped the jihadis target their mortar fire on the roof of the CIA outpost. I was in the bushes outside Sharyl Atkisson's house when her computer was mysteriously hacked by a government agent. I was in the room adjoining Stephen Paddock when someone fired rounds at fuel tanks and a certain high-value target arriving at the airport. I was around when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain. I stuck around St. Petersburg when I saw it was a time for a change. I rode a tank in the general's rank when the blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank. I shouted out, who killed the Kennedys, when after all, it was Cubans and me. Pleased to meet you. It was worse than that. It was an investigation to find a crime. Not to dig into one, not to examine evidence of one. To just try to find a crime, to dig something up that they could then investigate. Like a secret police operation to destroy someone not justice at all. The FBI has one function: investigate crimes. That's it. Not find crimes, not dig until they can maybe find something. The entire thing was a fishing expedition, something no credible police organization on earth should be doing. So a farmer comes in for dinner and his wife says that a bus full of FBI people crashed in his back 40. Farmer tell his wife that he will check it out in the morning. Morning comes and the farmer goes out to his back 40. Comes back and tells his wife she was right a bus load of G-Men has crashed back there and that he will call the sheriff tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and the farmer calls the sheriff. Sheriff says he will be out the next afternoon. Next afternoon sheriff meets the farmer in the back 40. Sheriff sees a whole bunch of fresh graves and asks the farmer if there were any survivors. Farmer says yeah some of them said they were alive but you know how those FBI agents lie.

The FBI has been a mess for ages. Remember the huge fiasco about their crime lab shortly after the OKC bombing? I'm sure many haven't heard about it or forgot it, but it was a huge clusterfuck when it happened. All sorts of evidence compromised. They're probably still hashing out the fallout in the court system due to wrongful convictions. God knows how much that cost taxpayers.
My dad was at a technical discussion of the forensics of matching bullets to guns. The guy leading the discussion was a muckety muck at the FBI crime lab. Someone asked him about shotgun flechette rounds and if the lab had protocols surrounding them. The FBI guy didn't even know what they were. After the questioner patiently explained them, dude bs-ed his way through, saying they were no different than any other round. Dad said everyone in the room was amazed at the obvious lie. For those who don't know, a flechette never even comes in contact with the smooth shotgun bore, so it's nothing like a bullet that gets unique markings from grinding against a rifled barrel. I wonder if this guy Strzok has figured out that he's going to be the patsy when Mueller folds his tent without finding anything of substance. It will go something like this:
"Oh, yeah, there was plenty there. And, we were this close to presenting evidence of collusion between the current administration and the Russians. But, our investigation was compromised by the actions of one of our lead investigators. As a result, we cannot in good conscience proceed with any recommendations of charges against DJT. " It's murky enough for the Dems to make hay. And, it justifies his little witch hunt. Ask yourself this...why did Strzok's reassignment leak? They stonewalled the congressional committee....then all of sudden all these fact pop out just after getting some piddly plea agreement on telling a lie to the same guy that got reassigned. He's the patsy now. He's Mueller's excuse for finding nothing...but claiming he could have if not for this guy. Posted by: Orson at December 04, 2017 07:27 PM (hcAOz) 216

I remember that you used to go to the counter and before you finished ordering the food was right in front of you. And it was cheap, too. Nowadays, it's not cheap and you have to wait 20 minutes for them to microwave up the burger. Remember those commercials for McDonald's where they used to say how the guy got "change back for his dollar"? Too funny. And also, I just found out that McD's won't do super-size stuff, anymore. 195 The FBI has been a mess for ages.
Posted by: bonhomme at December 04, 2017 07:24 PM (zGsgt) I want to say it was McVeigh's lawyer who set the FBI on fire because the scandal was right around when all that stuff was going on. I just remember it being in the papers for some time. I'm sure the FBI is a diversity jobs program now, not sure how much it was back then. It probably hadn't been totally inundated at that point. Probably not a good idea to set up the agency to have the one sided "We can can lie with impunity but if you mispeak we will make your lives a living hell" as a motto. Today they slipped ahead of the IRS as my most mistrusted government agency. They really screwed the pooch because when they investigate things sometimes they might have to talk to someone. Who would want to say a word to an FBI agent now? Saying anything could be a one way ticket to jail or poverty." It was leaked, apparently from Team Mueller, for some reason. As someone who always has thought this farce primarily was to distract from major civil rights violations and other crimes committed by the Deep State during the campaign, this would seem to indicate Mueller and Co. thought someone had to go under the bus now.
