NeverTrump, Bluecheckmark Mafia: James Clapper is a Saint That Never Lies! (MJ)

Dude is the Michelangelo of bullshit. I have no idea why anyone believes anything he says. Oh, right. Eggs/omelets. Gotta find some way to make Drumpf look bad!

Let me catch you up if you haven't been paying attention this weekend:

1. Flynn is charged with lying to the FBI about speaking to the Russian ambassador.

2. ABC reporter Brian Ross claims that the meetings were during the campaign, directed by Trump.

3. Media firestorm! Twitter Bluechecks/NeverTrumpers engage!

4. Oops. Brian Ross was wrong. The meetings were after Donny Two Scoops smoked Stumbles McPantsuit on Nov 8th, so... during the transition.

5. The Trump White House claims they had permission to talk to foreign governments during the transition--and that this is all boringly normal.

6. Bluechecks and NeverTrumpers try to Trumpsplain how this is all totes terrible anyway--citing James Fucking Clapper's opinion. See linked article from Hot Air above.

So here we are looking for evidence that the Obama administration actually gave the incoming Trump folks the ok to start some diplomatic boringly average foreign policy outreach.

Is there a memo? NeverTrumper Ed Morrissey at the link needs proof cuz Clapper is a totally legit source. A saint among sinners.

Forget a memo. You know what would really do it for me? Obama's Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, Mark C. Toner, answering this exact question 11 months ago. You know, during the transition.

QUESTION: -- reports starting yesterday, but then more of them this morning, about contact between the incoming national security advisor and the Russian ambassador. I'm just wondering, from the State Department's point of view, is this something that's of concern at all? Or --I'll just leave it there and then follow up.

MR TONER: Again, not necessarily -- I've seen the reports. I don't think they've been confirmed or corroborated yet. But that's - as he's part of the transition team, that's really for them to speak to in how they are engaging. I mean -

QUESTION: Right, but --

MR TONER: -- the president-elect is also engaged on his own with many world leaders.

QUESTION: Right.

MR TONER: So I don't want to speculate and I don't want to --

QUESTION: So there's nothing - this building doesn't see anything necessarily inappropriate about contact between members of the incoming administration and foreign officials --

MR TONER: No.

QUESTION: -- no matter what country they're from?

MR TONER: No.

QUESTION: Right?

MR TONER: No. And again, this has been ongoing. I mean, we stand ready if they want to work through the State Department to contact some of these individuals, but we have no comment or no problem with them doing such on their own.

QUESTION: Okay. Thank you.

Skip to 28:25 to see it come out of this guy's squeakhole for yourself. Or if the video actually starts at the right time, hey, I meant to do that all along.

The Bluecheckmarks...the NeverTrumpers...they just want to fulfill their deepest desires; facts be damned. You really can't blame Brian Ross or James Clapper--they're just the tip of a flaccid spear. The Bluechecks and NTers are the flaccid shaft.

Gay porn film wins "Best Film" from LA Film Critics, now on track to win Best Picture Oscar:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news
/ la-film-critics-association-winners-2017-1063801

What's the plot?:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_Me_by_Your_Name_(film)

It's not merely gay porn -- it's an indoctrination session, using every trick to convince people to experiment with gay sex:

"[Elio] increasingly finds himself attracted to Oliver. He sneaks into Oliver's room to smell his underwear and masturbates while thinking about him. ...

One morning, Elio finds a note from Oliver asking him to come to Oliver's bedroom at midnight. Elio spends the day with Marzia but secretly longs to see Oliver. Finally, at midnight, he enters Oliver's bedroom and the couple make love for the first time. Over the next few days, they grow closer, frequently having sex while keeping their relationship a secret. In bed, Oliver tells Elio, "Call me by your name and I will call you by mine". They refer to each other by their own names while becoming more and more intimate both physically and emotionally. Another time, Elio masturbates into a peach that he has split open, and after Oliver performs oral sex on him, he takes a bite of the peach in front of an embarrassed Elio. Completely smitten with Oliver by that point, he begins to avoid Marzia.

... Elio and Oliver spend three romantic days in Rome, after which Oliver leaves and a heartbroken Elio returns home. He encounters a sympathetic Marzia, who still wants to be his friend, and his father, seeing how his son is, tells him that both he and his wife were aware of Elio's affair with Oliver. He confesses to having had his own love affair with a friend in his youth and urges Elio to find pleasure in the grief, since true love such as Elio and Oliver felt, is rare.
..."

Etc.

93 Flynn was set up. They were dragging a net for anybody they could catch.

1. Phony-baloney piss dossier used to justify wiretaps.
2. Trump team given permission to talk to foreign government officials durin the transition period.
3. Clinton campaign seizes on bovus Russia election hacking the day after losing the election.
4. Obama administration picks fight with Russia, guaranteeing communications between Trump officials and Russua.
5. Identities of American citizens in wiretaps unmasked arbitrarily by Obama administration officials.
6. Trump officials interviewed by FBI. FBI, unbeknown to intervieweds, holds transcripts of wiretapped phone calls and illegally unmasked identities.
7. Press cooperates in pushing muddy narrative about election collusion.

Brian Ross did not 'mis-speak' about Trump's people comminicating with Russia before, rather than after the election, or about Trump personally ordering it. He did exactly what he was told to do and took one for the team.

138 Brian Ross so much wanted it to have happened with Candidate Trump, not President-elect Trump.

But Obama had only started humping the Russians Hacked the Election meme after the shock outcome of election day. The real October Surprise was actually Pussygate, which was meant to leave Trump a smoldering corpse.

So Obama had to do something to make the Russian meme look real, so he expelled Russian diplomats and seized two Russian facilities in the US in retaliation for something Obama knew hadn't happened. The Russian meme was also necessary cover for Obama's people "wiretapping" the Trump campaign during the election.

As a final FU to Israel, Obama also had Samantha Power abstain instead of vetoing, letting an anti-Israel resolution get passed by the UN.

It's these two things that someone told Flynn to talk to the Russian Ambassador about. And somehow this is the Big Illegality of the 2016 election.

Back in the day, people about whom I now have serious doubts were gushing about "Finochios," a female impersonator revue in SF. "You have to go see it! It's wonderful!"

So one night a dozen of us left the lab and went over to see it. It consisted of a bunch guys with five o'clock shadow and protuberant Adam's apples badly apeing Bette Midler and Judy Garland, and telling what were obviously homosexual "in" jokes, which had the audience in stitches but bewildered us.

The big story is that the FBI allowed a pro-Hillary/anti-Trump agent to both lead the Hillary email investigation including doing the interview with her off the record and unrecorded days before Comey said the FBI would not recommend prosecuting and also allowed the same guy to be a leader in the Trump/Russia collusion investigation.

That news is bad enough for the left but it has already had the consequence of forcing the FBI and Rosenstein to turn over documents and witnesses to Congress including the FBI agent Peter Strzok that they had been hiding. They can't contain it anymore and the blowback is going to be awesome.

Maybe some enterprising software developer should write an app that shrinks the AOSHQ page down to teensy-tiny size, so it can all fit in the screen of a smartphone; and then provide smartphone users with a jeweler's loupe so they can read the content.
I get a little ticked off when a minority of users whine that they can't view the page because wrapped links "blow the margins" when they try to view the page on the wrong damned device. Viewing the HQ on a smartphone is like a dog walking on its hind legs. It's remarkable not that it's done well, but that it is done at all.

"I think our borders SHOULD be thrown open to welfare-eligible noncitizens, without restriction. And they should be armed by the state, like that guy in San Fran was, right? How else will we get a handle on the increasing violence on our streets, and our debt under control?"

"I sure hope that gay film wins the Oscar this year! Then maybe we can finally realize how victims like Kevin Spacey feel, after all they abuse he's been taking these past couple weeks. Plus the medical complications with anal relapse and all."

171 Maybe some enterprising software developer should write an app that shrinks the AOSHQ page down to teensy-tiny size, so it can all fit in the screen of a smartphone; and then provide smartphone users with a jeweler's loupe so they can read the content.
I get a little ticked off when a minority of users whine that they can't view the page because wrapped links "blow the margins" when they try to view the page on the wrong damned device. That doesn't alter the fact that Web pages on the internet have mostly all been designed to be viewed on a standard monitor. If they can be viewed on a smartphone at all, that's fortunate.

I bought a Blackberry. I viewed AOSHQ on it, and even posted a comment. It was incredibly clumsy, like going back to dial-up. My go-to when I am on the road, is a cheap-ass Acer netbook. It has a screen big enough to render web pages properly, and a decent keyboard.

And I normally do use tinyurl when posting links bigger than a youtube link. I also normally hold the door for the gimp in the wheelchair.

One of Catherine Herridge's news stories re: Hillary's email scandal was that Hillary was in possession of classified documents for which she was not authorized to obtain. These were highly limited access, read-in level only docs, and yet Hillary not only had them and was recklessly emailing them to others (also not authorized) via her unsecured email server, but she was doing this in some cases within less than 24 hours after they were presented.

Now that we're getting a peek at how politicized the FBI is, with its highest ranks being Clinton operatives, it's easier to see how Hillary could have gotten her hands on such highly classified docs as SoS. It makes me ill to see how compromised Hillary and Obama have left our intelligence agencies.

well that no crime was committed, and going after some but not others (who committed far greater violations) on the basis of their political affiliation. In fact, you probably admire the DOJs cleverness in doing so as much ax they admire it themselves.

It is selective prosecution and it is a government manufactured entrapment. I can see why some people here despise you.

316 Nice and all that the before/after election distinction is treated as important by everyone, but it isn't. There's nothing illegal about a campaign having contact with foreigners BEFORE the election. There's little point to it, so it's not done that much, but it happens. Happened before the National Beclownment in 2008, by the campaign of the affirmative action intern.

So, translated for "so what" value: Ross's error about before/after election is egregious in its own right, but not because it makes any difference, substantively. Because it doesn't.

All of which only underlines that this *entire* thing is a ridiculous witch hunt about nothing, which has either caused, exacerbated, or merely exposed what a stupid, corrupt brand of individuals has come to dominate the upper reaches of the FBI and intel communities.

And Mueller's appointment does not comply with the statute under which he was appointed. Oops. With a whole catalogue of disasters to clean up, Trump faces a huge one that didn't motivate him to run in the first place: restoring the integrity of the FBI and the IC.

Well, it would be helpful to know what it was he lied about,

Since we know the truth is that the only Russia collusion was coming from the Clinton campaign, DNC, and the FBI itself, and Flynn's only relevance to the fanciful allegations was the contact with Russia as a normal function of the incoming administration, he didn't have anything regarding the investigation that needed lying about.

I love phrases like this, they sound so exact and are so hard to pin down what they actually mean.

Max Weber commented (and to do him honor I paraphrase the English translation) that the use of common, everyday and undifferentiated terminology both confuses thinking on a subject, and serves to hide logical fallacies, misstatements, and specious arguments.

It's more difficult to tie Flynn's call to "collusion" in hacking the election, if it happened after the election was over.

That didn't stop Adam Schiff from implying that there might still be a tie to collusion.

Think about it, why was he so hot to expel the 35 diplomats? Sure his claim was that it because of what they did, but I think he was bitter and pissed and throwing a tantrum. He wanted the world to pay for his loss. He treated russia so well, and now they go and have the nerve to talk to PEDT as if he were human.

It was a rage quit. the 35 were just pawns on the board game that got overturned when he kicked the table.

Obama, and certain Senate Republicans poisoned that well....

340 And no, just because Strzok is an anti-Trump idiot is not of that much significance.

Because he is not a lone actor. He is, officially, part of a huge law enforcement operation, with many people involved in everything he was involved in. In which normal, professional, even legal norms were violated. If Strzok were rogue, or in any way an outlier - AND the FBI was the organization is used to be, and is supposed to be - then his shenanigans would have resulted in immediate, dramatic action.

Nor does adding Comey to the mix confine the problem. Comey is obviously a dumb, lawless, very troubled individual (and most of his issues have been obvious since he first came to notice). But Comey and Strzok - OK, and add McCabe, another comically inept loser - explain it all. There were dozens more people involved in every activity they corrupted.

The National Enquirer stuff is nice, but the problem is deadly serious and much much bigger than a few freaks who are finally meeting their fate.

346 Socially, at least, Russians are very, very conservative. They oppose homosexuality, abortion, etc. Very orthodox church in a lot of ways, even though they have basically been raised for 3 generations to reject God and religion. The culture still sustains that worldview, as does Putin for that matter in a lot of ways.

So yeah, probably fairly repulsed by Obama and Hillary and the Democrats in general. Which goes a long ways to explain the 100,000 or so they spent on ads for Facebook. A waste of money, since nobody actually reads ads on facebook.

Still doesn't make sense. The Russian ambassador is taped by the FBI whenever he makes calls in the US. It's routine. The FBI already knew what he said on the call.

How would the incoming National Security Director not know this? It's kind of his job. And why would he lie about something that is not illegal and not just to the FBI but to Pence?

Some episodes were pretty good, but many were lame. Months would go by with no photon torpedoes, or any real combat. Really it was picard talking problems to death.

Voyager was even lamer in some ways, well until 7 of 9 showed up, then nothing else mattered anyway.

DS9, that was pretty cool, sisko was a bit of a bitch at first, but then he shaved his head and became a bad ass.

Enterprise...well what can I say, any star trek that has gay singing in the opening is not star trek.

496 Russia stopped allowing the Russia children adoptions in America because of institutionalized and normalized pedophila. I can't blame them. Burn all pedos with fire. This is part of the sanctions Flynn was discussing I believe. Ironically our Administrative State protects and profits off of it for decades.

500 I don't think we've seen the true case with "Maestro" Levine. First, his career was already over anyway; he has severe health problems, and only had face-time presence with Big Opera Company. It is a savage business with seething grudges that last decades, so he may be just getting a little roughing-up on his way out the door, deserved for other reasons having nothing to do with The Youth In Question. Then you get to the just ordinarily weird bits, like how long ago the illegal parts were, what chances the victim had to escape the "relationship," and ho things were going with all that.

Levine's not "innocent," nothing like it, but there's a lot going on. There would be, wouldn't there? It's grand opera.

I sure miss having Texaco as their sponsor. And in the old days, even the cads were more enriching.

506 Ignoramus, correct, but it's much, much worse (more disturbing) for those who know how things did, and should, work.

At least we now have a sensible test set up. If this absurd witch hunt continues, and the massive obvious criminality of the previous administration, and the known improprieties and likely criminality of the LE and IC freaks go unpunished, then we'll know things really are over the edge.

And this leaves completely aside the lawlessness of the judiciary, which we've discussed in the past, and which has been gathering confidence and momentum since.

530 The saddest thing about the Russian adoptions getting cut off is that I know a childless couple who adopted 2 Russian boys back at the beginning of Bush's term. They're 16 and 17 now, and it was fantastic both for them and for their parents.

The reason they went for an overseas adoption is that adopting an American born child has become a bureaucratic nightmare. Almost impossible to explain because it is so irrational - I have known a couple of people who have tried to go through it.
