Eh, I doubt it brings in much revenue -- it mostly just fucks people who are just north of the $150,000 range, but have a lot of deductions.

I agree with the old saying that the income tax was instituted to make sure that the middle class never becomes rich. The entire tax code seems to be designed to keep the hard working, striving upper middle class out of the echelons of the wealthy.

The FBI stats, and the stats compiled by WaPo over the last few years both show that white men are (slightly, statistically insignificantly) more likely to be shot by cops then black men.

But the numbers are kind of hard to nail down, since police involved shootings are reported differently by different agencies.

But yes, strangely, none were as high profile by the media. There was a white kid shot in the head execution style in Salt Lake City (IIRC) last year by a black cop, I don't think that ever made it beyond local news.

I will give them this -- it is hard to get exact stats on the races and circumstances with police involved shootings.

Maybe the FBI could request a uniform reporting system on that like they do on most things that are reported to the FBI.

But from everything we can find and compile, it looks to be about what you'd expect -- around 15% of police involve shootings involve black victims (blacks make up about 12-15% of population), around the same with hispanics (also hard to nail down since some states report hispanic as white, some hispanics identify as white, etc.), and the majority of people shot by cops are white.

Which is what you'd expect based on the demographic make up of this country.

But we aren't allowed to talk about facts. We aren't allowed to say that blacks commit crimes at a statistically higher level and therefore come in contact with police at a higher rate.

We are just supposed to accept as fact that their claims are true, we are all guilty oppressors and whatever changes they demand we must accept or we are racists.

It's a dumb game and the only way to win is not to play.

They have to have reasonable articulable suspicion of involvement of a crime. Now, as a practical matter they'll make up any after-the-fact bullshit they can think of to justify a bad stop, but legally they aren't allowed just to yank people aside and pat them down just for kicks.

I believe the test for a no- warrant pat down was something like a reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime and has a reasonable belief that the person may be armed which is, er... I mean, c'mon haha.

If you make something a crime, you're authorizing the state to use of force to enforce the law against the crime.

Sometimes people will die.

Personally, I think it's beyond absurd that selling a loosie is a crime. But it is. Because, taxes.

So if the leftists who hate smokers, but love their cigarette tax revenues, are going to make that a crime, then they are authorizing the cops to use force to arrest someone for committing that crime, and they should own it when people die during an arrest.
