The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

The only thing this puffed-up clown deserves is a big pile of poo thrown at him. Why do you people take him seriously?

If you need to be convinced of the fundamental unseriousness of the American media, look no farther than the recent CNN interview with LaVar Ball, a self-promoting buffoon who has nothing to say of any importance, but is more than willing to tout his sneakers and criticize the President.

LaVar Ball responds to Trump, wishes him a 'great Thanksgiving'

That was a 23-minute interview! To be fair to CNN, Don Lemon, their crack journalist was unavailable, so they dug Chris Cuomo out of the play room and threw him into the mix. You have to give credit to their makeup department too...there isn't a speck of paste on Cuomo's face, and the contents of his diaper are nowhere to be found on his suit.

******

And here we have Newsweek with some really important breaking news....
'Fake' Apollo Moon Landing Photo Claims to Show Proof the Mission Was a Hoax
At least the Weekly World News didn't pretend to be a serious news organization.
******

I hate to pick on Newsweek (that's a lie), but here is another moronic article that is also politically charged and offensive.
Don't Want to Feel Thankful? How to Have a Woke Thanksgiving and Wallow in Darkness This Year

Thanksgiving dinner conversations are notoriously difficult, and President Donald Trump’s first year in office hasn’t made it any easier: 58 percent of Americans “dread the thought of having to talk about politics at Thanksgiving dinner,” a new Marist poll shows, compared to 53 percent last year.

Media outlets have taken notice and are offering quick guidelines on how to best avoid stirring the pot on Turkey Day. But Thanksgiving offers a unique opportunity to civically engage with those closest to us. It’s the dirty work all democracies depend on. So, in an effort to promote thoughtful discussion, here’s Newsweek’s guide to having a conscious, or “woke”, Thanksgiving.

What the hell does that mean? "Civically engage?" Do they mean doing your civic duty, or is it bad writing and editing and do they really mean "civilly?"

This exposes one of the most unpleasant aspects of the progressive hive...they seem to internalize and take personally every political stance, and take it as a deeply emotional and personal affront if they are disagreed with.

What a bunch of party-poopers. They are pinch-faced scolds, and can't have the decency to shut the hell up even during festive family celebrations.

What's next? "How to convince your wife of the rightness of single-payer health-care while making love?"

64 I have always wondered just how awful of a family life these people have. I have never feared family conversation at Thanksgiving, even with members of the family that I may not be that fond of or those whom I disagree with politically.

First, we don't typically talk politics at the dinner table. Second, we all are able to have civil discussions. When someone does get riled up over a particular topic, we just walk away for a minute to cool off or change the topic to maintain a cordial air during a family holiday.

These folks writing about how awful Thanksgiving dinner conversation can be and how to maintain a civil discussion need to step back and reevaluate their interpersonal skills.

If you need someone to write you guide on how to engage with your family in civil and decent manner, you need are the one who has a serious problem, not your "evil" conservative family member.

In my family, coming out as a Republican was a risky business. I came out of the Republican closet in 1987 after being a secret Repub since 1980.

I have an ultra-Lib Uncle and a cousin (his son) who haven't spoken to me since then. 30 years now. The rest of my fam got over it long ago but it's still something that is not spoken of in polite company.

My gf is a righty though, and one of my Gen Z nephews is definitely as well.

164 Ideal scenario for Trump/UCLA hoop hoodlums would have been: face-to-face, tell Xi you'd like to run a little kabuki that would teach them a lesson, deliver a blow to the thug chic mentality of American sports, and in the bargain give China and Xi a PR win. Tell Xi to hold the players for a month or two (long enough to screw up their season and scare 'em good), then release them in a magnanimous gesture.

Trump then publicly says he has asked Xi to release them. Two months pass, then Xi makes his move. Trump has done what he could, the kids are out, the lesson applied.

311 "This exposes one of the most unpleasant aspects of the progressive hive...they seem to internalize and take personally every political stance, and take it as a deeply emotional and personal affront if they are disagreed with."

Oooh, that's not just a progressive problem. It applied quite broadly across the political spectrum.
Right now I'm looking at those NeverTrumpers, specifically. But generally I find the more politically charged a person is, the more personal they take politics.

312 I don't hate these people. They are allowed their opinions; these people who have no skin in the game. They will always be with us, just like the poor. Remember to be thankful that they buy things.

313 Mr. Trump should have just left those basketball players in China. He should have just left it at asking Xi "Did they get in contact with our embassy or our nearest consulate?" And as for Mr. Bell: he and his son need to sit down and read a bedtime story together. The bedtime story I have in mind is a U.S. passport, and what it says about being in foreign countries and being subject to their laws.
