Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Oh My: Anti-Aging Drug Trials To Begin in Dogs in 2019, and Humans In 2022, if the Dog Trials Are Successful? Why start with dogs? Interestingly, it's not just that dogs are a big animals with some similarities to humans. It's that if it works on dogs, bang, you have a salable product right there-- people will pay to de-age their beloved mutts. Which would then fund the next research phase, for humans.George Church describes the roadmap for to human aging reversal treatments We will see the first aging reversal test in dog trials in the next year or two. If that works, human trials are another two years away, and eight years before they’re done. Once you get a few going and succeeding it’s a positive feedback loop. His company Rejuvenate Bio is actually working on the dog trial now. The particular dog model we’re using has a heart disease issue. Rejuvenate Bio is still semi-stealth mode, incubator mode, but the trial is not a secret. Dogs are a market in and of themselves. It’s not just a big organism close to humans. It’s something people will pay for. And the FDA process is much faster for dogs than for humans — a little over a year versus nine years or so. We’ll do dog trials and that’ll be a product, and that’ll pay for scaling up in human trials. FDA does not need to classify aging as a disease in order for them to treat it The FDA does not need to classify aging as a disease. If you actually have something that causes aging reversal, [the FDA] will approve it. You’ll frame it in conventional terms, but it can have additional benefits. In other words If you have something that fixes one disease problem and happens to fix a bunch of others, you don’t need to put them all on the label. The FDA doesn’t stop you for using things off label or curing two things at once.I mean, what I'd give to be 29 at some point this year. I'll be 29 then at some future date. But what I'd give to then stay 29. Bullshit? Probably. But... if the rule is "disbelieve 99% of what you read," fine, this is in the 1% I'm choosing to believe. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Posted by: grammie winger - maranatha at November 17, 2017 08:10 PM (lwiT4) ======== Yeah, I thought people died because the cells in certain organs did not reproduce (that is, by splitting into two new cells). So I'd think any treatment of aging would have to consist of using stem cells (and adults do have stem cells). Or you could alter the genes in the fertilized egg before it divides, in order to eliminate the genes responsible for aging. But you can't just drink an elixir. It doesn't make sense. Aging is being approached from a number of different medical directions e.g. senescent cells, teleomeres, etc and there are a number of different substances people are taking now with varying degrees of benefits (some quite significant) e.g. rapamycin, epithalon (teleomeres), Nicotinamide riboside etc. You can read the forums at longecity and read what people are working with as well as different theories behind aging.
NB: when you read about some new research study which showed possible benefits of some substance for aging, there are people on forums trying (often successfully) to find a lab to make that substance and test it on themselves. Posted by: Benko at November 17, 2017 08:22 PM (/S81H) 112

Might make sense to take a mini-retirement at midlife, recharge, maybe study/train for a different career, then work another 30-40 years. Repeat as needed.

Getting a Dog May Save Your Life, Especially If You're Single
Swedish researchers found that people with furry friends, especially the unmarried, have fewer heart problems than those who don't. I love pups, but this is a classic example of selection bias. Besides exercise, if you're open to having a pup, i.e., putting someone else before you and taking care of him, then you're psychologically healthier right there, have more to live for, and more likely to eschew self-destructive choices. Kinda like getting married, or having children, in that respect. The Ted Kaczynskis, Jeffrey Dahmers, and Ted Bundys of the world tend not to have spouses or pets. healing an injury is one thing- HGh probably just accelerates the healing cycle -it goes into overdrive(those who know more please correct me if I am wrong), but what he is taking about is reversal of a process that is built into your genetic material.
Posted by: runner at November 17, 2017 08:19 PM (QC/4S) I have had to research this because of nuerological issues. Not only goes biodentical HGH and testosterone reverse damage, but it slows the aging process. But it's expensive as hell. Think 100 grand. And its not approved by insurance companies for use of healing injuries so you have to look to anti-Aging clinics in Florida. It crushed my soul and spirit when my only chance at healing and reversing damage had a no plebs allowed sign via super high prices. In other countries not nearly as high. By the way, I like this idea, no matter what the means are of accomplishing it.
Death is necessary for evolution because as one generation reproduces and dies, the offspring will have genetic variations differing from their parents. Then they in turn reproduce creating further variations, and these variations are the only way that life becomes more advanced. But at this point, I think we're evolved enough. There is nothing strictly *necessary* about death. The only reason that death exists is because that is the only way creatures like us could have been brought about. But if you cross a river with a boat, you can dock it and continue on your way. You don't have to lug the boat around once it has served its purpose. And there is no longer any need for us to lug death around. Posted by: Steve and Cold Bear at November 17, 2017 08:50 PM (/qEW2) 253

Posted by: Monk ---- I had suffered from terrible migraines for maybe 20 years. Then, I developed (unknown to me, because no pain) a stomach ulcer which ruptured an artery in my stomach, or thereabouts. I keeled over, then momentarily regained consciousness with EMT's leaning over me. I recall nothing else until the next day some guy in a white smock was talking to me in the ICU. Mrs. H later told me that the ER doc said that if my blood pressure dropped any lower she was going to put me on a ventilator. The whole point of this is that I have not had a migraine since. Posted by: runner at November 17, 2017 09:10 PM (QC/4S) Christ. What a silly comment. The common cold is only a minor nuisance. It, like the flu, mutates, and is a virus, and so is a dodgy target for drugs. Think of developing a drug that you could spray over Compton and only kill gangbangers. THAT'S the problem researchers face. Cancer is generally a disease of old age, as mechanisms for ensuring the fidelity of replication break down. That's simply not true. Now bacteria are evolving resistance to the antibiotics we've developed (in part through misuse of those antibiotics, especially by homeless dirtbags who do not complete their therapeutic regimen for whatever shitty diseases they have), but that's not a reflection on the field. Of course we need new antibiotics, all the time. But that's not an argument that generating the previous generation of antibiotics achieved nothing. Get close. Etc. I used to do this with my boys on long road trips. My point about the antibiotics was just that average lifespans can decrease even in an environment of advancing medicine (as will happen when the antibiotics that doctors have so carelessly abused are no longer effective and the disease-ridden foreigners who were stuck in their home shitholes are paid by our politicians to come over and infect us). == ok, I want to adress that one, because obviously it is a silly comment. Cancer - body produces cancer cells, millions of them every day and your immune system is equipped to deal with them, it is in your genetic code. It is built to recognize those cells and kills them. When the immune system fails, for whatever reason, genetic mutation or weakness, the cancer cell is not identified, it grows and mimics the anatomy of a healthy cell. It is not a disease of the aged. No cure, but advanced screened and then surgical interference (cutting stuff) , radiation (killing stuff) and chemo(killing more stuff) will allow someone to survive. Getting a Dog May Save Your Life, Especially If You're Single
Swedish researchers found that people with furry friends, especially the unmarried, have fewer heart problems than those who don't. I think one reason for this is that having a four footer encourages you to get some exercise. If it gets to late in the day, my dog comes to me and says, "Get your fat ass out of that easy chair and take me on walk!" Couple years ago in Forbes an article on longevity. It was a study of people who outlived their time.
There were smokers, drinkers, everyday people - the bottom line was DNA. It wasn't diet, vitamins or any of that crap. The people who lived longest had DNA that did not degrade. Smoker? So what? Their DNA did not mutate. Same with all the others in the study; the one constant was non mutated DNA. When they find the fix it will cause a facepalm.
