Terry Crews Names and Shames the "Top" Agency Exec Who He Says Groped Him

Crews filed a police report and says he may sue.

He ought to. The law won't let you deck a guy but it will let you put someone through the expensive, grueling one or two year process of a lawsuit.

A punch is a kindness compared to a lawsuit.

Crews identified the person who groped him as Adam Venit, a top executive at the William Morris agency. Crews, who was represented by the same agency, had never met Venit and says he was looking forward to meeting him for the first time at the February 2016 party.

"He looked me in my eyes and he was sticking his tongue out overtly sexually to me," Crews said. He continued, "I mean it was no mistake that this was a sexual type tongue move...and I'm thinking 'Is this a joke?' I'm thinking 'Is this how this guy breaks the ice?' I don’t understand what this is.

"I reached my hand out and he takes his right hand and, under mine, immediately squeezes, grabs my genitals. I jump back 'Hey! Hey! Whoa!’ And he jumps back and he still does this tongue stuff and he’s making weird noises and he comes back again and grabs me again! I slapped his hand away, pushed him back more forcefully and I'm like 'What are you doing?!'

The whole incident took place with Crews' wife standing next to him. Immediately after the groping, he went to tell Adam Sandler who was also at the party (and was represented by Venit) what had occurred. Sandler hadn't witnessed the groping and was shocked at what Crews was describing. Later, as Crews was driving home, Sandler called to talk to him about what had happened.

Sandler gave Crews some tough but insightful advice: "A dooh ba dooh bah doo, ahhh, badoobah, adoobah doobey bah."

++++

I don't know about that. Sure, for the weird sticking out the tongue or other come-ons, decking a guy will likely get you busted. But, if he grabs your junk? That's battery and you are allowed to defend yourself. As long as you can prove he touched you first, I guess, swing away.

43 Am I alone in thinking this is the wrong approach? You either punch the guy, and claim it was reflexive response to an assault if it goes beyond that, or you drop it and move on.

I understand that for women, children, and many people when there is a power disparity this is not a workable solution, but it always has to be the preferred solution.

And even for women, I think the public needs to impose a statute of limitations. Especially for politicians since most of those claims are clearly fabricated. (Clarence Thomas, for example.) Maybe these should be laughed away after a couple years if there is no contemporaneous evidence like a police report, sufficiently detailed public statement, etc.

For children, I understand that they can be in no position for many years to come forward, So maybe by 30yo. If you were molested as a child, and you do not go public by 30, then move on.

But no, let every feelz from the beginning of time be litigated, so everyone can be dragged through interminable proceedings about things no one remembers, about which all real evidence is long gone, so we can all try to prove fuck-all with our feelz.

My bad on the spelling. This liberal dimfuck can't figure out that people might just want to watch ESPN for oh I don't know, sports. Instead of hearing some pituitary case talk about politics. So he basically doubles down. We stripped out our cable package as much as possible. And I am almost ready to ditch it completely. One of the things that went away was allot of the Disney owned shit which was no loss whatsoever. Not once have I thought, gee I miss ESPN. Fuck those people.

That means, I think, knocking away the hand and pushing the guy away.

If the guy presents no further threat, I don't think you're allowed to punch him out. That would be punishment, which the state claims a monopoly on. You have the right to defend but not to then impose street sentences.

Most prosecutors wouldn't go after you but if you really fucked him up, maybe hit him hard enough to knock out then he hits his head on the ground and gets brain damage... well, you might then be charged.

I'm thinking the test for all these cases should be:

161 Something that I suppose should surprise me, but does not, is how long all this sexual hanky panky has been going on, particularly with the rich and powerful on the Leftist side of the fence, yet has been covered up for so long.

Back in the summer of 1969 my family and I took a trip to visit one of my uncles and his family, who were living at the time in Alexandria, LA. My uncle (he has long since passed) was at that time an insurance investigator.

While we were up there, my uncle took my father and I to see his office. His office turned out to be this really huge room, filled with filing cabinets. My uncle said the files contained information on people all over the country that his employer felt the need to keep records on, and in those days these records were still on paper. (No, there was nary a computer to be seen anywhere; however, this was 1969, and while computer databases did exist then, they were still very few and far between.)

As we are walking around looking at this huge quantity of filing cabinets, my uncle begins regaling us with stories regarding the peccadilloes of some of the famous people of the day (movie stars, sports figures, politicians and the like).

One name he mentioned that I still remember (bear in mind I was 14 then and I'm 63 now) was Ted Kennedy. Seems that even then ol' Teddy had quite a reputation as a drunk. Really "liked his vino" as my uncle put it. And he was also very well known as a "womanizer". But he got away with it, according to my uncle, because he was a Kennedy.

I guess that story always stuck in my mind because just a few weeks later, a young gal named Mary Jo Kopechne made the mistake of getting in Teddy Kennedy's Oldsmobile and riding with him to a place called Chappaquiddick. Then as now, Ms. Kopechne is still unavailable for comment...

204 If you're wondering why Crews didn't punch Venit's lights out right away, from the description of events, I gather that Crews gradually escalated his responses in proportion to Venit's continued behavior. First, Crews jumps back. But Venit keeps coming on. So next Crews gets more physical and slaps Venit's hand away and pushes him back forcefully. I assume at that point Venit backed off. If Venit had persisted, then Crews might've decked him.

1. Deck the guy.
2. Call the cops and press charges.
3. File a civil suit and get him fired from his job.
4. any or all of the above

Looks like he went with everything except decking the guy. It is a legitimate response. Where is it written that if some guy grabs your dick, your only option is to deck him immediately or forget it forever? Especially when it comes to a guy you are required to work with. Also, this took place 2/2016, so we are not talking about something from all that long ago.

226 A NASA research aircraft has joined in the search for a missing Argentine submarine and its crew of 44, a defense official told USNI News on Friday.

The NASA P-3 Orion is now looking for the diesel-electric attack boat ARA San Juan (S-42), which has not been heard from since Wednesday, according to press reports from the region.
In addition to the U.S. P-3, the Argentine Armada has dispatched destroyer ARA Sarandi (D-13), and corvettes ARA Rosales (P-42) and ARA Drummond
(P-31).

Outside of the NASA aircraft, the U.S. has not been asked to contribute assets to the search but is preparing specialized submarine rescue equipment in anticipation of a request from Buenos Aries, USNI News has learned.

U.S. Navy Undersea Rescue Command is mobilizing the specialized submarine rescue equipment and personnel in San Diego to crew the Submarine Rescue Diving and Recompression System (SRDRS), two defense officials confirmed to USNI News.

The system can be transported via cargo aircraft and loaded onto a surface ship for rescue operations.

239 President Donald Trump has started paying his own legal bills related to the Russia probe, rather than charging them to his campaign or the Republican National Committee, and is finalizing a plan to use personal funds to help current and former White House staff with their legal costs.

The Office of Government Ethics and a tax firm are working on a mechanism for Trump to contribute to staffers legal bills that would meet regulatory and ethical standards, White House lawyer Ty Cobb said in an interview. The White House is hoping the issue will be resolved shortly, said Cobb, who declined to elaborate further on the details of the plan.

While there is no law barring a president from giving gifts to those who report to him, Trumps case raises unique questions about whether his contributions could influence the testimony of staffers, said Walter Shaub, former head of the Office of Government Ethics who has criticized the president over other conflicts of interest.

Cobb said the White House is aware of the ethical questions and has been taking steps to address them in recent weeks.

President Donald Trump has started paying his own legal bills related to the Russia probe, rather than charging them to his campaign or the Republican National Committee, and is finalizing a plan to use personal funds to help current and former White House staff with their legal costs.

Firefox has a new deal with Google to make Google the default search engine. But, you can change it to whatever you want. So, nobody who makes the effort to change it is forced to use Google.

Tor is not banned at AoSHQ, though Ace doesn't have an onion address. Meaning Tor will just get you here the same way any other browser does.

Though Tor may provide additional privacy features, it is not good enough to protect you if you are engaging in criminal activity online. Nothing is that good.

I was headed to bathroom and as I opened the door someone grabbed my ass and shoved me in. Next thing I know I was pinned against the wall, a tongue in my mouth and the boys were cupped. She wasen't bad looking for a cop, and built like a brick shithouse. I guess it was legal as she had her shirt on inside out. Things might have turned out differently if my future bride hadn't been waiting for me in the bar.

328 Maybe he was just too taken aback? Sometimes I wonder what I would do in a similar situation..would I be rendered speechless and not do or say anything?

True story...I served for six years on a submarine. First day, waiting in line for lunch, guy comes up and grabs my junk. In that case they do it to new guys to see if you're skittish. I just told him that usually I get bought dinner first. He laughed, removed his hand, and no one did it again. I suspect this wasn't that.

Yet ...... is there anyone even trying to create a wave of outrage, then surf it?

Don't recognize the universe in which this sort of thing is not seized and used as a club to batter political and pecking-order rivals. Of course, there are also no more votes in Congress, of consequence (or very few), and an entire party (GOP) has more or less eschewed politics for some time now. So, yeah, not a universe I recognize.

Yes, that part I get. It's probably the one reason why I wouldn't play around with it because it makes it look like I have something to hide.

And the TOR network wouldn't protect me from malware since the browser requests to the web server (to which it has connected) would simply download the malware and the TOR network would be happy to send it along, not knowing what it is.

I just found it interesting, and a little pecuilar that Firefox had an explicit link.

I am truly sorry that my comment of a week or so ago caused you concern. As CBD has said, "Apparently I'm not as funny as I think I am".

These days is not insensible to interpret what seem to be threats as just that. It seems that there are plenty of nut-jobs around, and one can't be too careful, it seems.

At any rate, I want to assure you that I am NOT a pathological pyromaniac. In point of fact, those friends who I go camping with long ago gave up on me as the designated campfire starter.

So, my profuse apologies for the incident, you are the last person here who I seek to offend...except maybe AtC, because consequences.

As an aside, I knew Mike Cross at college, we shared beer at a little beer/music joint that he and two friends had at Chapel Hill, called The Cats Cradle.

367 Regarding Justice O'Neill

"In his post, O'Neill -- the only Democrat elected to statewide office -- went into detail about two of his sexual relationships, including one with a woman he said was a personal secretary to U.S. Sen. Robert Taft Sr. who was his "first true love," and a "drop dead gorgeous red head who was a senior adviser to Peter Lewis at Progressive Insurance in Cleveland."

He later edited the post to remove identifying details."

Those identifying details could have made his comments LIBELOUS. The redhead is not a public figure and having anything to do with this jerk is humiliating.

A justice who does not know the law ought to be thrown off the bench. Ex post facto removal of her unique description is not a remedy. She ought to sue his ass.
