Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant: J.V. EditionSo the law-abiding people who turn in their guns are the ones responsible for gun crime? And the more guns they turn in, the less gun crime there will be? So why has gun crime gone up? I don't understand! I think I'll fling some poo...maybe that will help me think. Firearms amnesty as UK gun crime rises 27% this year The amnesty comes less than a month after national figures revealed the number of crimes involving firearms in England and Wales increased by 27% to 6,696 in the year ending June 2017. Many firearms are "held in innocence and ignorance of their illegality" and are often left forgotten in people's homes, according to the National Ballistic Intelligence Service (Nabis), which is co-ordinating the surrender. Others are acquired through criminal networks and handing them in could save lives, the service added. I have been working diligently to remove the phrase, "You can't possibly be this fvcking stupid!" from my political discussions, but there is no way on earth anything could prevent me from blurting that out if I were to be so unlucky as to chat with anyone involved in that statement. Do they not see the logical flaw in their point? If a firearm is held "in innocence," or is simply forgotten, it beggars belief that it is also the weapon used in one of the crimes that make up a 27% increase! Hot News from the Antarctic Underground A new NASA study adds evidence that a geothermal heat source called a mantle plume lies deep below Antarctica's Marie Byrd Land, explaining some of the melting that creates lakes and rivers under the ice sheet. Although the heat source isn't a new or increasing threat to the West Antarctic ice sheet, it may help explain why the ice sheet collapsed rapidly in an earlier era of rapid climate change, and why it is so unstable today. Today I learned that it's sexist to state that the sperm swims towards the egg during fertilization because that implies the egg is passive and that strengthens the patriarchy or something
Biology is sexist!!! Rewrite the rules comrades! Posted by: TheQuietMan at November 16, 2017 11:36 AM (493sH) 43
One other thing to realize about this UK report. The way crimes are reported is that the crime only exists for reporting purposes when a conviction is made and then the year of the conviction is the reported year for the crime. Also it is common for people to be charged-down so as to make the statistics for the reporting agency look better.
So what the report means is that there were 6,696 convictions of gun crimes in the year ending in June 2017 and that that was a 27% increase from the previous year. Also realize that a "gun crime" can consist of just the possession of one of those forgotten guns in a closet if it is discovered. Posted by: geoffb at November 16, 2017 11:36 AM (zOpu5) 44
Let me get this straight: feminists are now claiming that "the patriarchy is a scientific fact, that it's in the species' DNA?

So, perusing Newsbusters, I learned a bioethicist on NBC News blog sez having children is destroying environment.
And some blog I've never heard of, Ban Week, believes parents should give up their children to parenting experts whose full-time job is raising other people's kids. Oh, and nursing homes need to be done away with. "Talk to your parents about their end of life plan. Consider helping them die, when and if they're ready." Brave New World. Posted by: Jane D'oh at November 16, 2017 11:36 AM (PY9jH) In unrelated news, the same people are advocating flooding the country with ignorant Third World peasants, because that somehow helps the environment. I suggest that firearms violence be reported by race and national origin of the perpetrators, then we review what steps should be taken to address the issue.
Posted by: Vashta Nerada at November 16, 2017 11:31 AM (7ZVPa) ======== That would be an empirical way to approach the issue, similar to what Jay Guevara was talking about on last night's Zimbabwe thread about studying a disease in order to figure out its origins, transmission, etc. The left doesn't approach it that way. Instead they frontload any examination into the issue with a bunch of axioms, that can never be questioned. Such as "all cultures are equal. All communities are equal". Therefore, if a law abiding person owns a gun to protect his family, he is just as guilty for gun crimes as anyone else, because to suggest otherwise would be to suggest that the law abiding family man demographic is somehow superior to other demographics, which violates the axiom. It is literally unthinkable for them to think that gun crimes might be tied to certain demographic groups. It would be like telling a mathematician you could construct a square circle. When people get elected they are "special" in the sense that they represent the electorate that put them there.
"Bad behavior" should not ordinarily get them impeached from office. (obvious exception for corrupting the office they hold, treason) To hold otherwise is to invite anarchy. Especially when it comes to alleged sexual improprieties. Such allegations should be dealt with separately, either civilly or criminally. Or public shaming. Most Americans by now should be convinced that Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore molested a 14 year old decades ago. "because the evidence is strong," contends Kay Hymowitz at City Journal. But a lot of people believe it "because Moore conforms to broad stereotype that those of us in a Northern, Secular bubble feel no need to interrogate-The backward, holier- than- thou hypocrite.." Which puts "the otherwise incomprehensible irrationality of the judge's stalwart supporters in a more comprehensible light." These Moore supporters know the establishment media, "see the irreligiosity through a filter of ugly cliches." So, "this sordid episode is yet another symptom of our dangerously polarized country." And "regardless of the outcome, nobody should be cheering."
^^^^ Entire entry from today's "NY Post" "Fast Takes" section FTR, I don't have ugly stereotypes about Southerners, I went to school in the South and although living in the North I don't live in a "secular bubble" Perhaps some Northerners should have a word with Ms. Hymowitz-that we don't believe it because the evidence isn't there and because Gloria Allred is a toll of the Democrats Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 16, 2017 12:00 PM (8+Ozj) 178

Alabama polls will be suspect because turnout is now hard to predict.
#1 Many AL voters may get off their ass because they don't want to see Moore railroaded. #2 Many AL voters who would have voted for Moore stay home, while D turnout is heightened. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement he
would ask the Senate Ethics Committee to look into the allegations. What shock, Bitch punts on the Franken story --- Mitch probably didn't pay the people who brought the photo to public attention, like he did Moore's accusers. Posted by: Methos at November 16, 2017 12:18 PM (XQvuQ) 280
Someone help me understand: How is Gloria Allread still a practicing attorney? For that matter, how the fcuk is she even retained by anyone? She fails so spectacularly every time she's in front of a mic; you'd think there'd be hundreds of better Feminazi advocates out there.
Are all state bar associations channeling Jeff Sessions? Get off your asses and investigate her. You KNOW she's pulled all kinds of unethical shit; just take the lid off the trash can and peer inside. Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at November 16, 2017 12:18 PM (Llmo+) 281

They aren't anime, but PBS had a series called Wordgirl that was great for young kids, and entertaining enough for adults to watch with them, and My Little Pony is also shockingly good. There's an episode devoted to stopping a dictator pony trying to setup a socialist commune with goals to conquer the whole land, complete with a creepy song ("You can't have a nightmare if you never dream")

Never settle when rape and sexual assault charges are being alleged. You fight and allow all of your skeletons to come out of the closet and own them. Settling in these cases is basically admitting guilt and 99,9% of men would be ruined.
You then counter sue and expose their skeletons and watch them scamble to blame others for the mistakes and decisions of their past. If you find yourself in this situation and your lawyer tells you to plea or settle, you fire his or her ass and hire the most ruthless SOB within 100 miles. Thanks for the link. Here's the laugher from Mitch's statement: "As with all credible allegations of sexual harassment or assault, I believe the Ethics Committee should review the matter," McConnell said. "I hope the Democratic Leader will join me on this. Regardless of party, harassment and assault are completely unacceptable --in the workplace or anywhere else." ==== That "Leader" would be Chuck Schumer, right? And the "I believe the Ethics Committee ...." blah blah blah. Not "I DEMAND". Waaayyy to strong. Can't have that. But Roy Moore doesn't deserve a single vote because of unproven 40 yo allegations. Based on the always clueless Ivanka's statement that sexual assault claims=indisputable evidence and "child molesters deserve Hell", does that mean the woman who filed lawsuits alleging DJT raped her at 13 is believable and her Dad should be held to same standards/irredeemable fate?

"Do they not see the logical flaw in their point? If a firearm is held "in innocence," or is simply forgotten, it beggars belief that it is also the weapon used in one of the crimes that make up a 27% increase!"
Apparently, British policy is for every home and apartment dweller to be burglarized. So, confiscating weapons allows them to continue promoting burglary (i suppose they consider it a cheap jobs plan) while claiming to reduce access of the criminal class to guns.
