Today's Media Sex Harassment Revelations: NBC Vice President, Arianna Huffington Tolerating Known Harasser

NBC Fires VP for inappropriate conduct.

NBC Universal fired Senior Vice President for Booking, News & Entertainment Matt Zimmerman, following accusations of sexual misconduct, the company announced Tuesday.

"We have recently learned that Matt Zimmerman engaged in inappropriate conduct with more than one woman at NBCU, which violated company policy," a company spokesperson told TheWrap. "As a result he has been dismissed."

From Gizmodo, Arianna Huffington Ignored Sexual Misconduct at the Huffington Post.

[H]er history with a former managing editor whose "transfer" to launch HuffPost India was later revealed to be result of an HR investigation into whether he had sexually harassed multiple young women in the New York office. Gizmodo recently revisited those allegations and not only independently confirmed that the investigation was indeed the reason for that managing editor’s transfer, but that Huffington knew about his actions before they were reported to HR, according to a former employee with direct knowledge of the investigation.

...

[Y]ou can’t make the argument that Huffington's job security was imperiled [as Harvey Weinstein's assistants' job were in danger, should they squeal]. She was at the top. By turning a blind eye, she bore ultimate responsibility for any issues that arose under her leadership. While she may proclaim herself a feminist, her failure to foster a safe work environment for women junior to her makes that proclamation empty and seemingly simply a tool to further her brand and her career. There is baffling hypocrisy in asserting that a healthy work environment is crucial when you have willfully ignored a toxic culture that thrived under your leadership. Huffington had the power to set an example--but she didn't.

...

Gizmodo has also independently confirmed just what Huffington would likely have known regarding Soni's reputation in the newsroom and the ensuing allegations against him. Soni selected the individuals for HuffPost’s Editorial Fellows program, and reportedly saw this program as a way to find a romantic partner. According to Gawker, when an editor reportedly pointed out to Soni that the group of fellows was predominantly white, blonde women, Soni reportedly responded in a semi-joking manner, "Yeah, I'm using it to find myself a wife."

...

Another woman, a fellow at the time, said that Soni was making her uncomfortable based on how he interacted with her over Facebook messages after hours. She noted the disproportionate power dynamic, given Soni was in part responsible for determining who among the fellows would be hired full time.

Corey Feldman has accused another Hollywood type of being a pedophile, this one the owner of a "soda pop disco" catering to Hollywood's young-and-rich child star crowd.

Oh, remember that masseur who accused John Travolta of trying to get some kind of a happy ending? He's filed a criminal complaint against the actor. To be fair, some of this isn't really any big deal -- Travolta got naked for the massage. Um, that's often how it's done. And Travolta got naked in the sauna with him. Um, guys get naked in saunas. That's why I don't sauna. Anyway, Travolta offered, the claim goes, to give the masseur a massage, and felt up his inner thigh. And then, per the claim, Travolta got... a bit ruder. I don't know if any of this is sexual assault, though.

George Takei was also accused of groping a young man. Jazz Shaw, who's been waving a caution flag about the new standard as far as such allegations-- with the media just reporting them and people like, well, frankly, me just linking them approvingly, re-states his concerns about this New Normal where any allegation is enough.

I think his points are valid, and I've been (quietly) worried about this for a while. Alas, I'm also lazy, and this is very easy blog content. That's not any kind of principled reason to jettison the innocent-until-proven, or at least accused with some kind of evidentiary support, standard.

From my contact with outraged homosexuals on twitter defending George Takei from anyone even mentioning his accuser, this seems to be a pretty common and typical thing with them. Grab a guy's junk and see if he hollars, or something of the sort. "What? Its normal!"

24 Like Jane, I'm waiting for the onslaught of allegations against senior Dems. In Congress. But they have to be at least 30 years old, with no proof, and no action in those 30 years to do or say anything about it, and lots of incorrect details about the claims, against public figures who've been in contentious campaigns for decades.

And the targets, of course, must instantly step out of public life.

Those standards are good enough for McConnell, Ryan, Sessions, and Cruz, so I feel comfortable.

There's still nothing perverted about a simple compliment. It's the sex-obsessed Progs who are making each and every personal interaction into something it's not by reading something bad into it that isn't there and, in the majority of cases, never was.

It's more of the anti-American Frankfurt School working to destroy our society.

A Christian nation doesn't see something bad in every personal interaction. Don't let the asshole Leftards change your way of innocent thinking towards your fellow man or woman.

Then they have the gall to stand up at one of the dozens of self-congratulatory award ceremonies and use that time to attack conservatives and preach down to the hard working taxpaying people who pay their damn overblown wages.

Then when the hive-mind dictates they turn on their own, one at a time, in a frenzy. What a disgusting crowd of hypocrites. Plus they now just make left-wing socialist propaganda films, full of social engineering messaging."

Now, either they got talking points to go along with this and set up a big witch hunt against men (see George Bush sr and Roy Moore) or it just finally peeled open like a flower, revealing all the rot inside. Either way, I'm going long on popcorn futures.

She and I hit it off and did fun naked things. That was over by the time she took over the class and was actually my teacher, but she was my hot teacher and I could sit in class envisioning her tan lines. So I'm counting that.

And when he does so he should make it public, any activities under the radar are as good as useless. I want a lot of media noise about every Dem scandal.

326 Only had a couple of really pretty teachers in school. 3rd grade, and in jr high. She was really gorgeous and taught me the meaning of cameltoe in her jeans every day. I have no idea how she got away with her outfits, unless the male admins just liked it so much they would let her do it. This was the 70s, they didn't believe in bras.

328 Do you need that if you have a smartphone? Doesn't it ping a cell tower whenever its on?
Posted by: BackwardsBoy at November 14, 2017 07:18 PM (tRaq7)

I don't know exactly how that works. But I suspect it would take more than that confirm your exact position. Plus, redundancy never hurt.
Posted by: Insomniac - El Perdedor at November 14, 2017 07:21 PM (NWiLs)

It would take more. A cell tower log can tell you a general direction relative to the tower but can't pin point your position. When you connect to a tower you connect to one of three sides which gives denotes a general direction but nothing exact. There's also no guarantee that the tower that handles your traffic is actually the nearest physical tower as load balancing takes place across the cell network, although presumably there would be a log of another tower that had high volume handing you off to a tower further away.

A smile from a pretty girl just makes my day for a couple of days.

348 316 Prayer warriors a report: my mother is in ICU and stable. Doctors say no need to rush to see her they are not concerned that she won't make the night or anything. Which is good.

My mother just had her 83rd birthday. I live in dread of the day when I will see her health crumbling away. We've been close all my life and I've relied on her through some really tough times. We've become good friends as I've gotten older. Not looking forward to the future as I see her decline as she ages. Prayers for you and your mom.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 14, 2017 07:35 PM (39g3+)

My mom just turned 87, but she really doesn't remember the last 10 years or so. She remembers things from way back, but nothing recent. Makes a lot of things....interesting.

She's is great physical shape, so she's gonna be around for a while yet.

My dad is fine mentally, but he's 88 and had a major stroke, so physically he has several challenges. Between the two of them, they still live independently, but once dad goes?

He would kill me if I put her in a home, so I guess I will get to move in with her....

At least she isn't angry at me any more. She hated having kids, but she seems to have forgotten that part.

358 tcn in AK, my beloved mother died in the 90's. Dad never remarried. He's slowly gone down hill since his major surgery in Aug. It breaks my heart. We always promised neither would go to a nursing home. I think I will end up moving in with him in the near future. It's scary as hell. My brother is nearly worth less with these kind of things.
