Mitch McConnell is an Asshole.

Witness a spiteful asshole being a spiteful asshole.

I am just stunned at the turn of events in this country.

Not that our "betters" are idiots and completely focused on their own neo-aristocratic position in society.

No, my astonishment is just how the Establishment right, ostensibly in power, has joined the bile-spitting left in hurling their masks of respectability and fealty to the principles of their constituents into the gutters with abandon.

Here we now live under the most precarious of times, where sitting Senators of the President's own party plot not only for the removal of the President, but also the spiteful removal of candidate in another state who have been convicted of nothing, and who will never be convicted of the 38 year old he-said/she-said charges that just happened to float up from the sewer-mouth that is the MSM at the most damaging point in an election.

Dear RNC:

You want my money? Promise me you will support insurgent campaigns against sitting dinosaurs like McConnell.

96 Okay, I know Allred is out there saying she has another accuser, but, as far as I know, the only allegation of something illegal is the girl who says this happened when she was 14, yes? The other three were all over the age of consent, right?

I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE TO SAY THIS BUT I WILL.

Which is not to say that a 32 year old dating a 16 or 17 or 18 year old isn't creepy, but it's not illegal or even, frankly, immoral necessarily.

There is, however, a difference in kind between the best thing about high school girls is I get older but they stay the same and a 30 something guy feeling up a 14 year old.

And even the creepy thing is a historically new development. I wonder how many of the woman screaming that he's a pedophile also worship Jane Austen but are so historically illiterate that they have no idea that marriage in the social classes of which Eyre wrote was commonly a woman in her late teens who was actively looking to find a man in his late 20s or early 30s to provide for her and her family.

Which isn't to say that it's just fine to happen now, I'm merely pointing out that claiming that being involved with a 16 or 17 or 18 year old is pedophilia is pushing that definition a whole lot.

I have something else to say but don't want to wall o'text so I'll stop here for the moment.

104 Been saying it for a while and it's obvious - there is a huge hill to climb before the country really even starts to have a chance at real progress again. The GOP has to be almost completely gutted and replaced. And this is very very difficult.

It means dumping many GOP incumbents, and replacing them with more serious, responsible, intelligent actors. Primaries. Lots of primaries. Very difficult. Because it relies on there being enough quality challengers, and enough upsets ("upset" because unseating an incumbent is generally very hard). We're talking many many Dave Brat elections - 10 in the Senate, 50 in the House.

Short of that, this is where we are. A de facto "Uniparty" situation, in many respects - not entirely, but effectively.

I think JJ and Krakatoa are misreading the situation. I don't like or trust McConnell, but I know if he can get a Senate majority for the Tax Bill Trump will win in a landslide in 2020 and Dems may be looking at a 60 Republican Vote Senate in 2018.

159 We have three parties now - the Left, the Right, and the Insiders. Lindsay Graham testifying on behalf of Menendez while simultaneously calling for Moore to drop out of his race is the perfect example. McConnell is following suit nicely. And make no mistake, Moore will end up being dragged through the mud either way (and hey, I would not be surprised if the allegations are true - these guys are all skeezers), while Menendez will skate on a mistrial and then the whole case against him will bog down and probably never be resolved. One may not get to be Senator despite very little being determined about his actions, the other is having his privileged seat protected even when there is a mountain of evidence against him.

The system is that broken. Innocent until proven guilty is now "Guilty until proven Politically Correct", or maybe until "Proven an Elite 'Servant'" who plays ball.

We may be in a period that, fifty years from now (if we still exist as a nation), we will look back and say "that was a major reshaping of the political landscape" - and I don't even mean Trump, at least not directly. We haven't had a major party shakeup since, what, Bull Moose times? Over a hundred years ago? Both parties look like they are on the verge of break up, and each is fighting against the Insiders within their group.

But let us be goddamn clear: Moore has been less sexual with young girls than everyone in the Rat Party, especially Slow Joe. Asking parents for permission to court =/= molestation. Anyone who claims otherwise is a Weinstein level asshole.

For that matter: what the FUCK is wrong with us? Did we not see how the media accused Trump of rape, then dropped it about five seconds after the election was over? Plus, on the very unlikely chance that he can be proven not guilty, we're still stuck with another Dim Senator and the Dims get to laugh at how stupid we were to believe their horseshit.

It is far far far more likely with a the Dims hanging around Hollywood types like Weinstein that there's far more pedo and sexual harrassment/rape action in their ranks.

248 Which is not to say that a 32 year old dating a 16 or 17 or 18 year old isn't creepy, but it's not illegal or even, frankly, immoral necessarily.

I have something else to say but don't want to wall o'text so I'll stop here for the moment.

religious communities in the US are similar. Marry young 21-22 and have many kids by thirty. Still common in Orthodox, very Protestant and in the few Catholics.
however he went to the Point and then Nam and returned at 30. the desirable women he grew up with are taken, divorced widowed or no longer observant and their clocks have been ticking. and if he still wants a big family you marry a young lady.
this is still common in religious communities where the ban puts off marriage for whatever reason. IT IS NORMAL!

251 Based on what little we know, and Moore's fairly qualified self defense, I think it's at least plausible that he had a thing for teen chicks when he was in his 30s. And I'd just as soon not have candidates for whom that was true. But I don't get why Ted Kennedy could all but lead his party in the senate for many years after drowning a woman, but Moore is disqualified because he allegedly groped a 14-year-old once. I understand the state of mind differs between the two offenses, but Moore's offense is merely alleged while Ted's was admitted and one of their victims is still above ground.

No. Followed it fairly closely. The issue is whether Roy can exonerate himself. For McConnell it is whether he can bring a Senate Majority for Tax Reform. Of the two issues, Tax Reform is bigger than Roy in scheme of things.

There are over 13 Dem Senate Seats up for re-election this year. Win 7 of them and hold your incumbents and you have a 60 seat majority. Whether that includes Roy or not is immaterial.

Let's suppose you are a right leaning politician or pundit.

If Moore is guilty of something and you damn him now, you get to claim that you were right and make the lefties in the MSM stop saying bad things about you for a while.

Now let's suppose Moore isn't guilty of anything, or anything important. A conservative damning Moore will still get praise from the left. And this conservative will pay NO price for being wrong.

This is a vicious cycle, as it rewards the left when it throws out salacious accusations, even if they are false.

315 Judge Moore strikes me as a Type A Alpha Male kinda guy. He is a West Point graduate and branched MP, where he was a hardass and had the nickname "Captain America."

Got out of the Army, went to law school and became an attorney. And - no homo - he's not a bad looking guy now as a 70 yo, I expect he was not bad looking in the late 70s. And considering not long afterward he became a professional kickboxer, I am going to say he was probably pretty fit.

SO - in the late 70s, I would bet that he cut quite a swath. There were probably LOTS of willing women in his single neighborhood.

Oh, and he was a Democrat then, btw.

Then he got married, got God, and became a Republican, maybe not necessarily in that order.

My point is that I don't expect that Roy Moore was a monk in his single days.

But that was a long time ago and he is not now who he was then. That is not to excuse what he has been accused of - I believe that he went out with young women because he could. I don't think that means he improperly touched a 14 year old girl, but it certainly reduces the margin of error on that accusation.

Posted by: Ignoramus at November 13, 2017 02:45 PM (cAXIk)

482 Well, Mitch is consistent. He's displaying the same defeatist attitude that he always does. I don't think it is spite. I just don't think this guy knows how to win. If things get difficult he's more than willing to throw in the towel. This philosophy is the absolute opposite of how the Left operates. If things get difficult they merely suggest they are brave for continuing to fight.

Pennsylvania had an Attorney General who lost her law license at the beginning of her term and refused to quit. Democrats refused to remove her. Republicans (as if mentored by Mitch McConnell) refused to push the issue despite a majority. She served under indictment. Clowns like McConnell still think they can make friends of the media (and still want to for some unsavory reason). I think it's high time State laws be explored to see how difficult it would be to remove some of these guys mid-term. All you need is one of two to have the rug pulled out from under them, and the rest will roll over. It's what they do best...roll over.

487 How about "Impossible Rowing Team" Fallacy?

That's a good one. It is a fallacy to think that just because something seems like a conspiracy it cannot possibly be true. Its stupid because many times in the past, that has exactly happened: things utterly dismissed as a stupid conspiracy ending up being completely accurate.

What makes conspiracies unbelievable is a lack of evidence or reason, not the idea that people might plot together to pull some kind of act or falsehood over on the public.

It hasn't been that long ago that journ0list proved the "conspiracy theory" that the media was colluding on stories. Just last year, the Podesta email leak proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that the media and DNC were working together to rig the election against Trump. Its ridiculous to presume there's no way that people who otherwise don't like each other might not work together or agree upon attacking a shared foe. Its idiotic to assume they would never do such a thing.

Yeyep. Exactly my point. The steersman doesn't always call out, because he doesn't have to. A lot of the time, an actual conspiracy is superfluous, and the rest of the time, the smallest conspiracy possible is involved. The rest stands on ideology.

I also have a rule of conspiracy plausibility: weigh by number of people involved, and whether it would require people to be craven, lazy, or witless more than it would people to be scheming, precise, and methodical. Category A is virtually every conspiracy that has ever happened.

Um, can't your see right through that garbage? It's GLORIA FRICKIN' ALLRED.

This should tell you that other underage accuser is also garbage. When they roll out old Gloria, you know it's junk.

504 106 What is the point of a troll? Is he trying to convince us that his position is correct? Sew discord? Or is he trying to learn why we think the way we do? I just don't get it.

Posted by: LASue

Strategically, it is noise and distraction. Make the public square unpleasant so reasonable folks say to themselves "I don't need this" and stay away.

Tactically, as in personal motivation (assuming troll is not sponsored by someone)? Pushing buttons and pissing people off

509 The 70s were a different time:

"Cause like a picture she was laying there
Moonlight dancing off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
She's gonna love me in my Chevy van and that's all right with me.."

The defense rests.

Yeah, we need people like Maxine Waters, Harry "the pederast" Reid, Anthony Weiner, the thankfully late Ted Kennedy, Robert KKK
Byrd, Hank "Guam" Johnson, Maverick "dumped my injued wife" McCain, Sheila "Mars" Lee, and boss hog McConnell.

The problem here is "impunity". McConnell and his ilk have no fear of
repercussions. For them to change, their confidence in the lack of
consequences has to change.

Exactly and until that is changed nothing will change and if you talk about the way to change it you will get banned and so we are stuck with nothing getting changed. It just makes me weep that we will not stand up and do what ever it takes to put the fear of God it these pieces of scum.

514 I now consider it essential that Roy Moore be elected handily.
If there is anything meaningful to these bullshit accusations, it will certainly come out after he's elected just as effectively as now, so no risk to the electorate for making this choice. But the undeniable benefit is the abortion loving Democrat will be gone, at least until the next special election, if need be.
Make these lying commie pukes work for every inch of ground. Never concede.
And the FU to McConnell would be delicious gravy.

516 The Dems old the same trick in King County Washington to win the sheriff race here. I wonder if they are pulling this same stunt elsewhere in the country? Here a woman accused the sheriff of sexual misconduct just days before the election so the Democrat could prevail. If this strategy Works, be prepared for every conservative to have a similar accusation in the days before all elections

519 Moore was always a nut. I would have supported him until this new charge.

When you run a nut, this is what you get a nut. Moore was the problem not McConnell.

Fools. Moore did not believe in the rule of law to begin with. He is a creep. You know he is a sleaze.

In the future I believe the right and left of the party will only be able to agree on one candidate: Tom Cotton

Posted by: Arkansas Yankee at November 13, 2017 05:13 PM (m/1QV)

520 The RNC LOVED all of the small donations they got with trump. That's why Reince finally gave in and helped him. He couldn't believe the numbers of people who were giving.
The RNC needs to be contacted and told no more money until McConnell goes. We will not have any more candidates "McDanieled."

521 So, McConnell is supposed to go down with the ship for this creepy assholes?

Posted by: rexbatt at November 13, 2017 06:26 PM (e0ofy)

522 Will any of you critics of McConnell please list the Senators of whom you approve?

I know Cruz.

Possibly Tom Cotton, Rand Paul,

Please tell me how you replace almost every Republican Senator

523 So, an incoming president was talking to foreign governments in advance of taking office? I'd like to see some more context. Were the Russians the only ones his people were talking to? I would imagine the Trump team would be chatting up *all* our major allies. Is so, how many and how often?

If, for example, Team Trump contacted the Russians three times, it's be no big deal, if they also talked to, say, England, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Poland, etc., each a time or two or three.

So, how about someone digging that up?

529 Now Ted Cruz has bailed -- as should the Morons.

Whether the specifics are true (they have the ring of truth) or not, he has admitted to being a 32 year old man chasing high school girls.

That alone is creepy.

As was Bubba Clinton when he was chasing interns.

530 You're born in a small rural area of the south just after WW2. You spend your time probably picking fruit, or some other agricultural pursuit. You work your rear end off and are accepted to West Point military academy, eventually landing in Vietnam. You come home in the early seventies to find nearly all the women your age already married. Mothers introduce their teenage daughters to this up and coming lawyer, in the uniform, hoping they might land a catch. You court a few of these girls, and eventually marry one in her early 20s. Nearly 40 years go by, you're still married with 4 kids, and have risen to the Alabama Supreme court. You get tired of the shit happening in the swamp and decide to take it to them. Then, the same people who covered for perverts in Hollywood for decades, and want to import polygamists by the millions from the Middle East now write bullshit articles in the Washington Post, and cucks like Mitch McConnell pile on.

Support Roy Moore. Screw these POS.
